After getting my software update for safari yesterday (version 6.0) I've lost the google search bar on my menu bar. I've tried customizing the menu bar by dragging the google search bar to the menu bar, but no luck. How can I get the google search bar back?
You can't. It's now integrated with the URL bar. It's a search/URL combo.

When I type in a name in the Google Search Bar using the Classic Home Page, nothing happens. For example, if I type in the name BASEBALL, and then hit ENTER, nothing happens. This just started today.
I had a "typo." It is supposed to say........

How do I get rid of the quicklink tips under the google search bar on the Firefox home page?
I want to lose the quicktips that appear under the Google search bar when I open Firefox
You can install the Stylish extension and add the above posted code.
*Stylish: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/stylish/
See also http://userstyles.org/help/stylish_firefox
About changing the above mentioned browser.aboutHomeSnippets.updateUrl pref:
Type <b>about:config</b> in the location (address) bar and press the "<i>Enter</i>" key to open the <i>about:config</i> page, just like you open a website by typing the URL in the location bar.
*If you see a warning message then you can confirm that you want to access the about:config page.
Use the search bar at the top of the about:config page to locate the browser.aboutHomeSnippets.updateUrl pref more easily.
Double click the line with this pref to modify the value and simply remove the URL that you see to leave an empty string field.
Click OK to confirm the new empty value.
This will disable loading new snippets from the server.
Steps 2-4 are about clearing already downloaded snippets, but you can skip this and only hide the snippets with the Stylish extension. -
I like the Mozilla Firefox Start Page and I do find Google fairly useful (albeit that I have dumped Chrome for Firefox due to Google's constant badgering to sign-up to their social network "circles" etc) - but my gripe is that I am redirected to google.fr NOT google.co.uk (my 1st preference) or google.com (2nd preference). Yes, I am located in France. No, I am not French and most of the information I am looking for is contained on UK or US web pages. I found the same problem with the provided Google search engine in the top right bar, so removed it in favour of Yahoo (which I am not a fan of either!). Any advice would be gratefully received. Thx.
Many thanks for the prompt reply, ideato.
One of the reasons I abandoned Chrome in favour of Firefox was due to the "black band of doom" that appears on the top of the Google page - so setting up my homepage to google.co.uk just puts that back in the ugly spotlight.
I was, though, pleasantly surprised to see a Google search bar on the Mozilla Firefox Start Page (without the black band and Google options that I am just not interested in) but bitterly disappointed that it is Google.fr (due to my ISP being French).
I shall learn to live with Yahoo (or worse case scenario, Bing!)

I can access bookmarked pages, pages that are on a saved RSS feed, and can search the web using the top right-hand bar on my screen. However, the main bar, in the center of the home page (not sure of the correct name) will not do anything - whether I press search, or hit enter on my keyboard. There also appears to be another bar underneath that, which I can press, but it remains useless.
My Dad is running Firefox 4 on his computer, and has showed me what it is meant to look like. I can therefore conclude that there is definitely something up with mine.
I am currently using Firefox 4 with my laptop, which runs Windows 7.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox 4, but the problem still remains. I am not keen to use Internet Explorer, purely because I have bookmarked so many pages on the previous version of Firefox but also because I get on very well with the whole layout etc.
If it comes to it, I am willing to take the risk of losing my bookmarks, but if there are any suggestions at '''''all''''' of how I could possibly fix this problem, I would welcome them.Go to this address: http://mycroft.mozdev.org/search-engines.html?country=AU
Item 24 lists 3 installable major search engines for Australia.
You can also restrict your search in Google by including ''country:au'' or ''location:au'' or ''city:perth'' (for example) in your search terms. Example: ''city:sydney plumbers'' in the Google search box will list plumbers in cities named sydney. -
i uninstalled and re installed and same thing even used a different install file it installed fine on laptop had to go back to firefox 3.something till someone can tell me whats wrong
Please click the '''Helpful''' button next to the answer that solved your Firefox support issue, '''when you are logged in''', so this thread gets marked as '''Solved'''.

One day, it just changed so that whatever I search for searches using the Spanish Google web-page. When I go into Advanced setting to change it to English it can't change.
Try going to the [http://www.google.com/ncr Google No Country Redirect] link. Does it still happen after disabling country redirects?

Can't get the new Search Bar while using Music Store
Just downloaded iTunes 5 last night for Windows XP and everything is OK except the ability to show the new search bar in the Music Store. I am able to use the new bar on all other apps of iTunes 5 (library, purchased music, etc.) except for the music store, and that's where for me it would be the most useful! Anyone else having this issue, or anyone know a fix?
Well OK, except if you watch the Apple Special Event where Steve Jobs unveils among other things the nano and the iTunes 5 enhancements, around 16:00 into it, he demos iTunes where he uses the new search bar in the Music Store. So what gives? More pixar special effects or what?

How do you turn off the suggestions form the google search bar?
How do you turn off the suggestions form the google search bar? the drop down boxes are really starting to annoy me!
You can't turn off the suggestions in Safari, though you may be able to do that if you install Glims, which also offers some additional options that aren't available directly in Safari.
Quit Safari before you install it, then restart and go to Preferences>Glims to setup your options.
As for drop-down boxes, what exactly are you referring to? -
I just want all my searches to stay on the same tab that I already have open.
The browser.search.openintab pref applies to the (Google) search bar on the Navigation Toolbar and not to search bars on web pages.

My mozilla firefox page has lost the search bar from the center of the page
the google search bar in the center of the mozilla firefox start page disappeared today and I can't find a way to get it back. When I open the home page it is there for a second or two, then gone. I had rather not change my home page, but I want that mid page search bar back. Any suggestions.

Windows 7The search bar probably is still there, but only not visible and the mouse pointer should reveil its presence when you hover that area.
You should be able to set focus to it with the Tab key or click if you see the mouse pointer changing. -
The ipad safari on facebook will echo characters on the search feature. Please fix this STUPID error! At the least, investigate it and come to a suitable response. Stupid things like this are making me lose faith and interest in Apple products.
This is a user Forum, No one here works for Apple.
If you can be a bit more clear with what your problem is, maybe someone here can help you find a solution. -
when I play in the search bar in the app store, facebook, safari or other application closes, how do I fix this?
Have you tried restarting or resetting your iPad?
Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after the iPad shuts down, then press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10 seconds). Ignore the "Slide to power off" -
