Safari 4: Loading page at the bottom?

Hi
My personal page on last.fm have started to automatically showing the bottom of the page when finished loading the page. Just as if there were some sort of page anchor telling the browser to go there?.
I'm puzzled. It doesn't happen when using IE7.

Hi Thomas,
I just tried loading your URL and the page stays at the top for me.
Try resetting Safari via the File menu > Reset Safari... option.
(You'll probably want to uncheck the item to remove usernames/passwords unless you know them all )

It's possible that the pages you are attempting to open simply won't work with that old web browser.
If you're using Mac OS X Tiger, update to the latest version, which is 10.4.11. (You might be using that already. Your profile says you're running 10.4.1, but I bet that's just a typo.)
Then get the latest version of Safari that will run on Tiger. (And... you have that already: 4.1.3.)
You might try a more modern browser designed specifically for your current OS. That would be TenFourFox.

  • Extremely slow in every way. Typing, loading, moving and even just scrolling from the top of the page to the bottom. Keeps getting worse. Maddingly frustrating!!! Help!!

Firefox has gotten extremely slow. Typing, loading, searching, even just scrolling from the top of a page to the bottom. My daughter had the same thing happen to her and had to get her computer stripped down and completely reloaded. I don't have that option. It has no viruses and has been completely freed of all things that could slow it down.

Hmm... try downloading the [http://www.firefox.com latest] version... but if that doesn't work then try [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode Safe Mode]. Not sure what could be causing it...

The loading bar at the bottom of my Firefox browser has suddenly disappeared and I want to reinstall or reactivate it. How do I do this please and what is this bar called? I use the latest version of Firefox 3.6.3 and Windows XP. I have many add ons and I usually automatically install the recommended updates. This problem has never happened before and switching my browser on and off again does not solve the issue.

My first step would be to get rid of "Norton protection". Boot from your OS 10.6 disc, navigate through your hard drivve and trash anything that is Norton. Empty the trash.
Next, run Disk Utility and ask it to repair the hard drive.

You are in the iPad forum.
Open your Applications folder - find Safari in the applications, and double click on the icon in there. You may have a corrupt alias in the dock at the bottom.

If you want to start the Restore Process over then follow these simple steps. Restart computer. Open iTunes on computer. Connect iPhone to computer with USB Cable. Hold both home and power buttons until iTunes recognizes iPhone in Recovery Mode. Usually takes about 20 seconds of holding both buttons. Click Restore button of iTunes.

I'm on plan mode In Adobe muse, I have my paster page at the bottom and all subsequent pages at the top. I've changed my page dimensions in the master page by altering the height, however, these changes have not been made in the subsequent pages up top. How come?

    Several possible reasons:
    1) Is the master page applied to the pages?
    2) Did you increase or decrease the height of the master? The size of actual pages is the maximum of the size of the applied master page and the size that's required to contain the content that's been laid out on the page.
    3) Has the minimum height of the non-master pages ever been set? If so, it overrides the master page value. To get the normal page to again honor the minimum height set in the master page go to the individual page in the Plan view and use the context menu to select "Reset Page Properties". This will revert all the page properties to match those of the applied master.

  • Loading Pages on the Internet

I have been having issues loading pages on the internet--either extremely slow or not at all.
I have done MANY things to resolve this with no success. I have reinstalled my OS. Reset modem and connection. Checked speed of connection at the IP site. Daily I restart and reboot my computer. I have done a protocol of Safeboot five times many times.
I run Repair Disk in Disk Utility every few days. Today after Repair Disk finished the only issue that showed, after running it 3 times was "SUID file "systems/Library/CoreS . . . has been modified and will not be repaired". This is different than before as there were many issues listed after running Repair Disk.
One more thing, I plugged my computer into my housemates data chord and had no problem loading pages whatsoever. Our macs are hardwired to the same modem and router.
Does anyone know what the message in Disk Utility means exactly?? Is there a way to resolve that issue?? And does anyone have a new suggestion to help with loading pages issues?? THANKS.

    G'day,
    Welcome to the forums!
To help you, I need to understand you situation a bit better. So I have some questions:
    1) Am I correct in saying that you had no problems when you connected using your friends data cable?
If you are normally connected by Ethernet cable, and it is only slow when on your cable, then it could be the cable that is broken.
    2) Are you having problems when using the internet wirelessly?
    3) Why did you reinstall the OS?
In relation to Disk Utility - don't worry about that - it is not a problem. All Macs give that message.
    Cheers,
    Rodney

My computer turned on and showed a loading bar at the bottom, then that bar disappeared and the loading wheel appeared under the apple icon, what do I do?

It is a Mac OS X.
We still don't know your model--OSX is the operating system, not the hardware model. Please do "About this Mac" from your Apple menu to see a window like this:
Please tell us what your computer shows for the contents of the two lines I've indicated with red arrows. The processor type will at least tell us to which of the four basic iMac families yours belongs. That's a start and can help you avoid getting advice that is not appropriate to your Mac model.

  • Safari not loading pages

Since upgrading to OSX 10.5 Safari has failed to load certain sites e.g. www.engadget.com, these sites work perfectly in other web browsers on the same machine. The machine is a early Intel iMac.
In the status bar at the bottom of safari it simply says that the "cancelled opening the page", i suspect that some javascript may be the cause.
    Any suggestions?
    Nigel

Well, after a little research, I discovered that it might be Safari Stand which was causing problems. So I removed it and all is well. It's strange though, because Safari was working fine with SS all along--must be one of the recent security updates.

  • Safari only loads pages if I refresh each time. What is going on? Loading problem

Currently I had to refresh every single page to post this question.
My Safari 5.1.2 is not loading pages correctly. I click on a link or enter in a url to go to any website and Safari goes and tries to obtain waht I asked for, but stops loading after 60-80% is done (based on loading items on bottom info bar). I wait for another 120 seconds, and still nothing.
I hit the stop loading button and press refresh and the page loads automatically perfect. This is frustrating to use right now, and I do not have any other browsers to try anything else on. Why am I having this problem?

    Delete the cache lately?
    Quit Safari.
    Go to ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari.
Move the Cache.db from the com.apple.Safari folder file to the Trash.
    Relaunch Safari.
If that didn't help, from the Safari menu bar click Safari > Reset Safari
Select the top 5 boxes, click Reset.
BTW, if Safari isn't working at all, having a backup browser installed can help. If you need to re download Safari or support files you can.
    Google Chrome
    Mozilla Firefox Web Browser

  • Safari is Loading Pages Extremely Slowly

Ever since this morning Safari is so slow as to be useless.  My internet connection is fine, Chrome and Firefox load pages at a normal speed, downloads are fast, all of that.  But in Safari... I typed www.google.com and waited MINUTES for the page to load.
I've used the Reset feature that clears everything out.  I've quit the program and relaunched.  Rebooted.  Let the computer sit off all day.  No change.
Out of ideas and using Chrome as my primary browser, but would like Safari back.  I'll take any and all suggestions!
    Version 6.0.4 (8536.29.13)

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, or by a peripheral device.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Post for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.  The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of steps 1 and 2.

  • Safari not loading page properly

    Hi all,
I have a fairly specific problem with Safari (8.0.3 on OS X 10.10.2) in that the Stripe login page does not load properly for me. All I see when I go here is basic HTML: http://dashboard.stripe.com/login
In terms of troubleshooting, I have tried the following
    Disabled Extensions
    Disabled plugins
    Emptied Caches
Cleared cookies and other website data
I then decided to create a new user on my Mac to see what would happen. In the new user's Safari, the page loads exactly as it should.
So, my question is, what else can I do to troubleshoot this? Have I missed something?
    Cheers,
    Pete

Back up all data before proceeding.
Quit Safari if it’s running. Then select
               ▹ Force Quit…
from the menu bar. A small window will open with a list of running applications. Safari may appear in that list, even though you quit it. If so, select it and press return. Close the window.
    Step 1
Hold down the option key and select
              Go ▹ Library
from the Finder menu bar. Delete the following items from the Library folder (some may not exist):
              Caches/com.apple.Safari
              Caches/com.apple.Safari.SearchHelper
              Caches/com.apple.SafariServices
              Caches/com.apple.WebKit.PluginProcess
              Caches/com.apple.WebProcess
              Caches/Metadata/Safari
              Preferences/com.apple.WebKit.PluginHost.plist
              Preferences/com.apple.WebKit.PluginProcess.plist
              Saved Application State/com.apple.Safari.savedState
Leave the Library folder open. Try Safari again. If the problem is solved, stop here. Close the Library folder. If you still have a problem, continue.
    Step 2
Restart the computer in safe mode. Certain caches maintained by the system will be rebuilt.
Safe mode is much slower to start up than normal.
When the login screen appears, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and test. There's no need to log in while in safe mode.
Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t start in safe mode. In that case, ask for instructions.
    Step 3
If Safari still doesn’t work, quit, go back to the Finder, and move the following items from the open Library folder to the Desktop (again, some may not exist):
              Cookies/Cookies.binarycookies
              Internet Plug-Ins
              Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.Safari.*.plist
              Preferences/com.apple.Safari.Extensions.plist
              Preferences/com.apple.Safari.LSSharedFileList.plist
              Preferences/com.apple.Safari.plist
              Preferences/com.apple.WebFoundation.plist
              PubSub/Database
              Safari
              SyncedPreferences/com.apple.Safari.plist
Here, "*" stands for a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes.
Note 1: You are not moving the Safari application. You’re moving a folder named “Safari.”
Note 2: This step will remove your Safari extensions, if any, and their settings. If you choose to reinstall them, do so one at a time, testing each time to make sure you haven’t restored the problem.
Try again. Your settings and bookmarks will be lost. The default set of bookmarks will be restored. Delete them all.
If Safari is now working normally (apart from the lost settings), look inside the “Safari” folder on the Desktop for a file named “Bookmarks.plist”. Select
              File ▹ Import Bookmarks...
from the Safari menu bar. Import from that file. Recreate the rest of your Safari settings. You can then delete the items you moved to the Desktop.
If the issue is still not resolved, quit Safari again and put all the items you moved to the Desktop back where they were, overwriting the newer ones that may have been created in their place. You don’t need to replace the files you deleted in Step 1. Stop here and post again.
If you don’t like the results of the last step, you can undo it completely by quitting Safari and restoring the items you moved or deleted in that step from your backup, overwriting any that were created in their place.
