Safari 5.0.1 is out.

Download and install via Software Update.

I certainly had "issues" with Safari 5.0. Pages just wouldn't load, missing image icons. Safari would just refuse to load pages when i opened a folder of tabs. I reverted back to Safari 4 last week, and i was shocked that it seemed to run faster than 5.0. And, i no longer experienced any of the hanging issues. It "just worked."
I'm hoping the 5.0.1 remedied those problems, but i don't see any mention of it anywhere. I'm hesitant to even try it, since i'm so satisfied by 4.0.5.

Try clearing Safari's cache : Settings > Safari > Clear Cache (and Clear History)
If that doesn't work then try closing Safari completely and then re-open it : from the home screen (i.e. not with Safari 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Safari app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
A third option is a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • After OS 10.6.8 update Hotmail says Safari cookies blocked on Sign Out

After I installed OS 10.6.8 when I try to sign out of Hotmail I get an error message from Windows Live that says that it couldn't sign me out because my Safari 5.0.5 browser is blocking cookies. This perhaps is a false error message. I do have the Preferences set to always accept cookies and Hotmail wouldn't let me sign in without cookies being enabled. If I turn Private Browsing on, the sign off works normally. Also, Firefox works normally with 10.6.8. I have seen several other threads that are reporting cookies always accepted after the 10.6.8 update. I have tried a number of fixes: Repair Permissions, Reset Safari, delete Cookies folder, delete top sites, etc, but I still get the (false?) error message. When I boot off a hard drive with OS 10.6.7 that I cloned before the 10.6.8 update, I don't get the error message.
    Any suggestions?

Try the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo
    Then restart your Mac.
You could also try deleting your Hotmail keychain. Open Keychain Access.
/Applications/Utilities. Select Passwords on the left. Delete the Hotmail keychain.
Quit then relaunch Safari. Navigate to your Hotmail account. Enter your user name and password. You should be prompted to save that data to a new keychain.
You might want to consider accessing your Hotmail account via Mac Mail rather than using web based mail.

  • Safari Window zoom in and out

Every so often when I am using Safari and have another application(s) running in the background, the Safari window will zoom out and the other apps are shown, as though I am using Expose. A click on the Safari window, which is also highlighted in blue, zooms it back and makes it the primary window. What is causing this to happen and is there a way to stop it from happening?
    Thanks.
PS: I am using Snow Leopard but I don't know which version it is.

In Safari > Preferences > Advanced the smallest the font size can be set to is 9.

  • Safari toolbar and menus grayed-out

The Safari toolbar and pul down menu selections stop working from time to time and I have to log out and log back in to get them working again. How can I fix this without having to log out and log back in?

    Hi!
    Please follow these steps
The issue should get resolve after first 3 steps, last 2 steps are for extreme conditions.
    1) on Mac: Safari - View - Un check "hide tool bars"
    2) From the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Empty Cache. When you are done with that...
    3) From the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Reset Safari. Select the top 5 buttons and click Reset.
    4) Force quit safari (Click on apple icon - force quit - select safari - click force quit - confirm).
    5)  Go to the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari/Preferences. Make note of all the preferences under each tab. Quit Safari. Now go to ~/Library/Preferences and move this file com.apple.safari.plist to the Desktop.
    Repeat Step 1.

  • Safari internet screen remains grayed out

My mother did something to the Safari internet page and now its all grayed out. I can still see the webpages like normal, but the whole screen looks to be highlighted gray and I can't click on anything on the page. The search bar function still works and goes to other pages, but nothing else does because of the gray highlight. Any suggestions how I can unhighlight the page?

    Nevermind...found the answer.
    Clear cookies, browser and cache.
Shut off and turn back on...........works like normal.

  • I am new to Safari and can't figure out to show full page Safari

I am very new to Apple; I just got a new Apple on Sunday. I am trying to figure out how to make Safari and other Apple software full pages. I click on the green plus sign at times, but they don't always give me a full page.
    Can somebody help me?
    Thank you.
    Colleen

    Hi Colleen
Welcome to Apple Discussions and Mac Computing
    Previous poster meant "right corner".
To make any page "full screen", just click/hold on the lower-right corner of the screen (you'll see diagonal lines there) and drag to the size you want. Next, click on the red button to close the window. Then go to the File Menu and select "new window".
Good way to familiarize yourself with OS X is to pick up a copy of Scott Kelby's book OS X Tiger: Killer Tips. Also, these forums have a wealth of information available either via the Search panel, or here for Safari support.

  • Reset Safari, but it wont sign out of Youtube account?

So I have a youtube account, and upload media, and answer messages regularly on a shared computer.
I sign out of youtube, and reset safari "of which all reset option boxes are checked"
when I then go onto youtube again, I am still signed on! How the heck does that happen?
I thought reseting safari resets everything, all the cookies and viewed pages. I don't think it happens with any other websites... but still!
And again, all the "reset options" are checked, so it should be resetting every setting.
Please Help! I don't want the people who share my computer to have access to my media account.

    Hi
it should be a cookie, which you can delete all of by quitting Safari & trashing
    Home/Library/Cookies/Cookies.plist
I can't say why resetting wouldn't do the job though - but try removing manually then seeing if you're still signed in.

  • Safari history incomplete.. drops out some entries

    Hi,
My safari keeps dropping out some entries in the history - any reason why this might be? For example one day all entries for that day are there and the only half the next day?
    Thanks

    HI,
Quit the Safari app if it's open.
Click the Settings icon on your iPhone, then click Safari. (may have to scroll down)
In the next window click: Clear History
Reopen Safari and see if that helps.

  • Safari Locks Up When Filling Out PDF Form.

I'm trying to fill out a PDF form online that when completed, it sends to an e-mail address. After I fill out a random amount of fields, it comes up with the box (snapshot of it is here (and posted below): /___sbsstatic___/migration-images/110/11008709-1.jpg ). I cannot click (or "enter") away the box at all. Basically Safari locks up and I have to force quit it.
    Any suggestions?

Well, since I'm not running 10.5, I can't be certain if that toolbar you see if for Safari or Acrobat Reader. But if you look in /Applications/InputManagers and/or /Applications/Internet Plug-Ins, you should see an Adobe PDF plugin file (or something with a very similar name. If you have that, that means Safari is using Adobe Reader to render those files.
Even so, try filling out and submitting the form using Firefox to see if that works.

How do I reset Safari manually. Is this through the safety mode sequence? Never done it before can someone take me trhough the steps. Thank you for any help.
