Safari 5.0.2 tab bar - display disorder

My safari tab bar is not displaying well. Any thought? I've tried to repair disk permissions and uninstall and reinstall safari. Still doesn't work. Anyone has the same problem?

could you change the way ff behaves in fullscreen? i hate it when i moves whole page on tab-bar display. tab-bar should slide on page without moving it

I agree and looked everywhere for
    http://www.krickelkrackel.de/autohide/
    to no avail.
Can someone please change how to make fullscreen not push the page down when toolbars are shown on mouse hover in FF? The toolbars should behave more like IE. This would make FF SO much better. Please dont take the IE comparison the wrong way as FF is quite superior and the ONLY browser I use, but this one thing has got to be changed. It's irritating the way FF pushes the whole web page down while in fullscreen mode when the toolbars are shown on mouse hover.

  • Any way to turn off Safari's full screen, auto hide tab bar mode?

FInally took the plunge and upgraded to iOS 8 on one of our i-devices.  Really like the Panorama camera mode-- well done, Apple!
However, I was staggered to find that Safari now hides the tab bar as soon as you start scrolling down a web page!  What's with that?  I guess lots people wanted a full screen mode.  OK, but for the rest of us, is there an option to turn off that mode and keep the tabs permanently visible?
With the new set up (now old to many of you), it takes 2 taps every time you want to close a tab or move to another one.  That gets old fast!  Plus, the animation each time is visually distracting and tiring and also gets tiresome.  My browsing involves a lot of switching among tabs, so this is a real step backwards.
Hope there's a work around!  Otherwise, we're going to have to leave our iPad Air at iOS 7!

Jim, appreciate the reply.  Yes, I have submitted it as feedback to Apple!
I also stumbled upon the tap at top... The scroll upwards, though, rarely works for me!  For example, here on this site one has to scroll down a long way, quickly.  (It gets confusing, doesn't it?  One slides down to scroll upwards!)
In browsing today, I realized that my habit is to come to the end of a story, then tap the close button on the tab bar, which takes me to the next tab and its story.   Now, under iOS 8, I end up having to tap, watch the animation, then locate the button, and tap again.  It doesn't sound like much, but it's a nuisance when one is moving from tab to tab reading news stories.
Of course, if I could wave a magic wand and fix just one thing about the iOS, it would be the incredibly lousy handling of contractions via auto-correct.  It virtually never works unless one slows their typing down to the speed of molasses!   I've used the feedback on that one, too, but iOS 8 in any of its incarnations has not fixed that!

  • The tab bar in Safari does not update automatically

    Hello,
I have a strange problem with Safari full screen mode and the tab bar always displayed, it does "not update" alone. In fact when I, for example, two tabs and I created a third (by clicking a link) it does not appear immediately. I have to either click on the tab bar and pretend to move one, either click the "Naviagtion tabs" for bar tabs emtte update.
    A little heavy, huh?
All my software are up to date and even reinstalled recently, but the problem is still present.
    OS X Lion Mountain / / Safari 6.0.2
    Regards

I solved the problem by uninstalling Glims.

  • How do I get safari tabs to display new facebook/twitter notifications?

Just migrated from Chrome to Safari after Chrome was doing my head in. Really like it so far but the only feature missing is facebook/twitter tabs not displaying notifications or new tweets. When I used to use chrome the tab used to say 'xxx has messaged you' or whatever, but safari doesn't do anything. Is this what safari does or is there a way around it?

the only feature missing is facebook/twitter tabs not displaying notifications or new tweets
Safari in itself does not support that feature but you can turn on Notifications in System Preferences > Notifications.
You can add Facebook and Twitter accounts in System Preferences > Mail & Contacts & Calendars
When someone has posted on your Facebook wall or tweeted, the notification will show up top right side of your screen under the Notification icon. Three black horizontal bars. Old notifications willl appear until you click the x to delete.

  • Safari 4 is awkward handling many tabs: no longer shifts tab bar context?

With Safari 4.01, I have difficulty managing browser windows with MANY tabs.
The problem is, when I click the >> and choose a tab (A) that is currently "off screen," Safari will display A as the right-most tab on the tab-bar.
But, crucially, Safari 4.01 DOESN'T shift the whole tab-bar to the right to show tab A in context! What does this mean? If I want to click tab B next to A, I can't just do that. I have to click the >>, mouse down and only then can I click tab B.
Also, even after tab A is selected, the highlight in the >> tab drop-down still shows it as grayed-out.
The crazy thing is that the tab bar behaved correctly in Safari 4 Beta! That release would shift tab context to the right, AND it would gray-out the now left-most tabs in the >> drop-down, AND un-gray tab A in the same drop-down.
My questions: Am I simply missing a switch? Did Apple really take away the crucial context-shifting behavior in the tab bar? Could my plugins be interfering? (I use Glims, SafariBlock, Click-to-Flash, Inquisitor, and Google Gears).
I generally find Safari 4.01 to be very usable. But this tab issue is driving me crazy! I appreciate your help.

OK, I found the file, deleted it, restarted Safari and found all the bookmarks still arranged out of order or not in their proper folders. I found many of the dups from before and deleted them all. I also re-arranged the bookmarks back to where they should be and will see if anything changes in the next day or two. I will reset safari right now and get back to this thread Thursday. Thanks for the help again, I really appreciate it.

  • The font in Safari's bookmarks bar and tabs bar has suddenly changed

The font in Safari's bookmarks bar and tabs bar has suddenly changed to a lighter font.  How do I change the font back?  I'm not speaking of the font size/type in the web browser in viewing web pages, but the font in the application itself has changed. It's rather annoying and would like to be able to change it back!  I'm running Safari v5.1.7

    OK, Margie, here's what to do . . .
    First Quit Safari.
Then Find your User's (Home) folder library.
It's hidden, but here's how you find the Home Library:
Click on the desktop to get the Finder menu.  Then go up to  "Go" in the menu bar, while holding down the option key.
You'll now see the User Library in the drop down list. Open it, then look for the Fonts folder.
Take the fonts folder to the desktop.
    Restart Safari.
    Any better?
(Warning:  This is only for the Users/Home > Library > Fonts folder.  Under no circumstances, should this be done with the SYSTEM > Library > Fonts folder.)

  • (Chrome Like) Auto-Hide Tab bar in Safari Full Screen mode

Is there a plugin or some other way to auto hide the tab bar in Safari fullscreen mode like the way Chrome does?
This is the only thing stopping me from using Safari, it's way smoother than Chrome and feels much more native to Lion, but the fact the tab bar just keeps hanging there is annoying.
I tried the Cmd+I method mentioned in the community, but it only works when you're only opening one tab, if you open several tabs, the tab bar will show up again. It also comes back up once you exit Full Screen mode.
    Thanks for your help !

Hello myzzzl, this is normal behavior in full screen mode, you can set the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Browser.fullscreen.autohide browser.fullscreen.autohide] in about:config to False, to change that, but if you do that tabs and location bar is enabled in full screen mode.
wait if another contributor/helper give you a code which I don't know.
    thank you

  • What is the function of show tab bar in safari setting?

this tool is in setting > safari > show tab bar on/off
any one know how it work

    Hey Samooo205,
I see that you have some questions about the tab bar in Safari. Some information about this can be found in the following article:
Safari 7 (Mavericks): Customize the Safari window
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH17153
If you need help visually identifying the tab bar, you can find that information here:
Safari 8 (Yosemite): View webpages in tabs
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH19261
As it said in the first article, the tab bar option that you are wondering about only affects the behavior of the tab bar when there is only one tab open. If there are multiple tabs open, the tab bar will be shown, regardless of this setting. Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities!
    Cheers,

  • Always show tab bar - Safari 3 - Leopard

Hey. I recently lost all of my Home Folder's files, and now Safari 3 in Leopard does not allow me to always show the tab bar. I look in preferences, and the option is not there.
How do I enable to always show the tab bar?

    Hi
    Welcome to Apple Discussions
Go to the View Menu>Show Tab Bar or Shift/Command/T keys to show or hide. Tabs need to be enabled in your Safari Preferences>Tabs.
As you have a new Safari Preference file, besides resetting the preferences in the preference panel, you'll need to reset any custom options, such as spelling in the Edit Menu or the various options in the View Menu. Also, additional icons can be added via View>Customize Toolbar via Drag/Drop on the ToolBar.

  • How to unhide Tab bar in Safari

i am using the Safari Browser - Version 6.0.3 (8536.28.10), recently tab bar is not showing. Can any one help me to unhide the tab bar. When i checked view->Hide Tab Bar, also inactive. Looking help to unhide the tab bar. Thanks in advance

I suggest using Apple menu - Software Update (after backing up your computer) to get a newer Safari & OS version.
The tab bar is hidden by default unless there's more than one tab open - you can alter that with the following Terminal command... do it after quitting Safari.
defaults write -app Safari AlwaysShowTabBar -bool YES

  • Dragging tabs from tab bar issue in Safari 4.0.3- PLEASE HELP!

Whenever I drag a tab out of the tab bar to make it open in a new window, it shows the window thumbnail and will not open in a new window (hangs up). Yes, I am letting go of the trackpad and it still does not work. I have tried removing the Safari plist and still no work. Any ideas?

    Hello c:
I admit I am confused and apparently missing something. While what you describe works here, why don't you just click on the tab to open the associated window?
