Safari 5.0.6 can't "see" Flash Plug-In

I'm running 10.5.8 on my MacBook.
For a while I have been having problems with the Flash player plug-in. I use the BBC News and iPlayer sites a lot so this is a big problem as they rely almost totally on Flash. The pattern was that having been working fine I would sometimes then get the message that I didn't have the correct Flash player installed
(I do - 10.3). From being occasional this has now become a permanent situation. I have uninstalled and re-installed Flash multiple times, repaired permissions, the lot. Safari just refuses to accept I have Flash player installed. Here's what's even stranger. There is no problem with Firefox and if I switch to another user account Safari behaves just fine too! Obviously I have a corrupt file somewhere in my Safari settings - can anyone give me a clue as to what that file might be?
I tried just trashing and re-installing Safari 5.0.6 from a fresh download but the installer won't let me - claiming I have a newer version already installed.
I can live with doing everything on Firefox but I'd rather not. Any advice gratefully received.

Sorry - ignore the last bit, I had accidentally opened an earlier dmg Safari version - must learn to clear out my Downloads folder occasionally! Reinstalled 5.0.6 but no change - still no joy with accessing the plug-in.

It looks like ocz is aware of the issue and trying to address it via firmware:

  • OS X 10.8.3-Safari 6.0.4 Can't see or print Chase bank statements

Everything has worked just fine prior to installing the latest version of Adobe Reader. I could log on to my Chase credi tcard account, view and print from Safari anything I wanted. Subsequent to the Reader installation I can't see or print the statements. Printing other stuff hasn't been effected as far as I can tell.

Disable the Adobe Reader PDF plug-in.
    See here: http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/using/display-pdf-browser-acrobat-xi.html
If you want to use Adobe's plug-in, make sure you open Adobe Reader and accept the license agreements, if you haven't already.

  • Can't See Flash Paper Document

First, my appologies if this has been mentioned before. I couldn't find it so I posting it.
I just installed Flash Paper2. Converted a Word document to PDF and draged it to Flash Paper2's window. It loaded fine. I then saved it as a SWF.
It looks great. The load it into a page via Dreamweaver. The preview test looks winderful.
I Upload all the required files online for the public to view it. But nothing comes up. Instead it says I need a new version of Flash Player (which I already have. That was Friday. Today, I have a white box in FireFox. And in IE, it's the same white box, but now the original (non-Flash Paper) Flash at the top is missing as well.
To make matters use, a very simple Flash SWF I've made dozens of times is now not loading. It also says I need to update. But I Already Did! This simple flash is just three flyers that swap places every 100 frames. No reason for it to need updateing. The Flash I created (in the exact same program) still works on the page, but not the new one.
What's going on?! I can see Flash Paper SWFs and normal SWFs just fine on other sites. Just not the one I'm working on.
Here the link to the Flash Paper page:

    Please help.

Windows has a few graphics formats not supported by Mac OSX, such as .emf, probably the graphs are in an unsupported format.
OpenOffice is very compatible with MsOffice, if it opens the files correctly you might be able to copy and paste the graphs over. They will probably turn into .pdf graphics in the process.
Failing that make a screen snap of them using +command shift 4+ drag around the image and look for the subsequent file on your desktop.

  • OSX Lion can't see flash drive

Since upgrading to Lion, my MacBook Pro can't see my mini video camera, which includes onboard storage and used to show up as a drive. Has anybody else had a problem with external flash drives not showing up in the Finder?

I had that same problem. If you open up disk utility you can see the name of your flash drive. Then I just spotlight searched for the name of my flash drive and I was able to open it up and get files off of it. I hope this helps.

    Hello milanidada,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that you are receiving a “Blocked plug-in” alert on your Mac while attempting to view video online. In this situation, I would recommend reading over and using the information in the attached article to update to a later version of Adobe Flash Player.

    Does the iPod work OK?
Does it charge when connect to the computer?
Does it appear in My Computer?
Look at the dock connector on the iPod. Compare with the iPod that does work/connect.
I suspect you have a 2G iPod. Those can only go to iOS 4.2.1
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1353#iPod_touch_late2009
    iPod touch (3rd generation)
iPod touch (3rd generation) features a 3.5-inch (diagonal) widescreen multi-touch display and 32 GB or 64 GB flash drive. You can browse the web with Safari and watch YouTube videos with Wi-Fi. You can also search, preview, and buy songs from the iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store on iPod touch.
The iPod touch (3rd generation) can be distinguished from iPod touch (2nd generation) by looking at the back of the device. In the text below the engraving, look for the model number. iPod touch (2nd generation) is model A1288, and iPod touch (3rd generation) is model A1318.

  • Client says can't see Flash images

Let me request your patience in advance - I don't have many
details to provide so I know the possibilities are wide open and
therefore difficult to pinpoint. Here goes.
We created an HTML website with some flash content and some
static jpeg images. My client's client says he cannot see the flash
    images. All I know is...
    -The client is on Win2000
-He uses a version of IE
-He does not get prompted to install ActiveX controls
-He says he does not see the image placeholders in place of
    the Flash animnations
What do I need to ask this individual in order to pinpoint
    the problem?
-what version of IE he's using and Flash player?
-does he have install Active X prompt deactivated?
    -anything else?
-is there something with Win2000 that might affect what's
    going on?
The person having difficulty is from a very large corporation
and no doubt has an IT dept. Any suggestions on going through
    them???
    Thank you

    Hello Jamie,
First I'd have the client visit this page and verify what
    version (if any)
    of Flash they have installed:

Can you send a link to the page you are trying to show the
    client?

  • Can't see flash drive icon on desktop

Why doesn't my Sandisk flash drive icon appear on my desktop when I insert it into my USB port? Thanks.

    1. It needs more power than the USB port provides. Try plugging it into a powered hub or a port on the computer itself.
    2. It is formatted with an incompatible file system. Check to see if you can select the drive in Disk Utility.
    3. The Finder preferences for viewing disks are set to not show this type of device.
    4. The file system is corrupted or the device is kaput.

  • I can't uninstall or update flashplayer 10.3 r183 so can't see flash video

I had problems watching flash after updating to glash 11.3. So I read that the problem could be solved by installing flash 10.3. So I downloaded it from adobe ocd installed it and it still didn't work. But now I can't uninstall it. I've downloaded the uninstaller from adobe but after I run it it still says use flash "10.3 r183" in firefox. the same if I try updating to the newest flash.
I tried contacting adobe but they didn't know what to do and said there must be a problem in firefox. But uninstalling firefox doasn't help either.

Your system details list doesn't show the Flash Player plugin, so it is likely that you managed to uninstall Flash.
Now you need to install the latest Flash version.
You can find the latest Flash player versions for Firefox on this page.
You can check for problems with current Flash plugin versions and try these in case of problems.
*disable a possible RealPlayer Browser Record Plugin extension for Firefox and update the RealPlayer if installed
*disable protected mode in the Flash plugin (Flash 11.3+ on Windows Vista and later)
*disable hardware acceleration in the Flash plugin
