Safari 5.1.2 links stop working

While working in a Internet site I will click on a link and Safari does not respond, no errors, no nothing. I have Firefox and Opera on my MacBook Pro and they also fail in the same manner. I have checked that all software is up to date, clear the cache and use reset in Safari repair permissions and so on.
Now if I try the same websites that are failing to respond on my Mac on a Windows 7 laptop running IE8 it works as it should, no problems. I have also seen Safari fail when trying to login into an Internet site, input my username and password click enter and nothing...
MacBook Pro (late 2008) 2.4Mgh, 8GB of ram, 500GB hard drive running MAC OS X 10.7.2 and Safari 5.1.2

The purpose of this exercise is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account, or is system-wide. Enable guest logins and log in as Guest. For instructions, launch the System Preferences application, select “Help” from the menu bar, and enter “Set up a guest account” (without the quotes) in the search box.
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Any application you run will behave as if you were running it for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
As Guest, launch Safari and test. Same problem(s)?

After I updated my flash plugin to 9 some of my flash links

built them using actionscript 2. It's not all of the Swf that were
affected just some of them, but they were all built the same. On

I made my website with Frontpage before and I embedded a WMV

  • Bookmark links stop working after security applied - v7.1.0

    System:
    Windows XP SP2
    Office 2007 SP1
    Acrobat Pro 7.1.0
In Word 2007, I created a top menu of links that use bookmarks to jump down the page to various topics. When I Save As to PDF, the created PDF top menu links work. When I secure the PDF with a password, the top menu links stop working. However, Web links continue to work. What is causing the top menu links to stop working?

    >The links are in the document, not the Bookmark panel.
Ok, that's fine. They are form fields, almost certainly.
    > How does one allow form filling for a document that is not a form?
Actually, if the links are form fields, it really is a form. But that
    doesn't matter.
You just have to set Changes allowed: filling in form fields and
signing existing signature fields in the Permissions box.

  • Safari 5.1.10 Has Stopped Working

So I'm obviously way behind on Mac Hardware & OS. I'll buy another Mac eventually, but I'm making do with what I have for now, and this means I can't upgrade beyond 10.6. Which means I run Safari 5.1.10. I have Chrome installed, and I use it when I have to, but I'd like to understand why Safari has basically stopped working.
Basically, the problem is that periodically, Safari slows down to a crawl, or seems to "get stuck." The app does not crash or freeze, it just can't seem to load anything. Pages I access frequently like Gmail seem to load fine for a while. I navigate through these sites from page to page, then suddenly Safari hits a wall and it may take several minutes for it to recover. To take the Gmail example, I may send an e-mail, then choose a label or go back to the Inbox, and it's like time just stops. I get progress indicators both from Safari (the blue progress bar built into the address bar) and Gmail (messages Google builds in to let the user know the page is loading slowly), but nothing happens. In some cases, it lasts several minutes, and then suddenly it starts working again.
Imagine a page beginning to load, then the progress indicator gets stuck somewhere around 50% or something, and nothing changes for several minutes until, all of a sudden, the progress indicator shoots up to 100%. That's what it does.
For a long time I blamed this problem on the sites that seemed to have this problem most, but eventually it seemed pretty clear it was Safari. I've lived with it for a long time because it was intermittent, and because I know I'm way behind. But lately it's gotten much worse, and today, it just stopped working altogether for several sites.
Just to get the obvious out of the way:
No, I can't upgrade to a newer OS which would allow me to download a newer version of Safari.
Yes, I have Reset Safari, cleaning out the cache, history, etc. The only thing I don't clean out are my passwords.
No, it isn't all pages that cannot load. Believe it or not, some pages still work just fine. Others that used to have problems, no longer work at all now. This just happened today. In the past, I've always been able to Reset Safari or just give it time, and Safari would eventually work for these sites again. It has never happened that Safari simply would not recover.
Yes, I have run a virus scan.
I have a 1 TB Hard Drive with almost 600 GB available, and 4 GB of RAM (of which, my iMac can only utilize 3 GB).
I always download updates from Apple, and there are none currently waiting to be downloaded.
I have often performed Speedtests when this issue occurs, and my download speed is never less than 30 Mbps, my upload speed never less than 5 Mbps.
Pages that don't load no matter how long I wait include Gmail (and any other Google page) and Apple.com.
Pages that load immediately, with no hesitation, include CNN and Twitter.
If anyone has any ideas on what may be happening - and in particular why it went from being a periodic nuissance to an insurmountable obstacle just today - please let me know.

  • Links stop working

I created a link in a PDF to open a file and it worked just fine. Now after several Adobe updates they stopped working both using Acrobat 8 Pro and Reader 9. I checked the link and in the link it points to the correct location of the file on the hard drive or DVD drive but Windows says it can not find the file.
The message that appears is "Windows cannot find '01_01_welcome.mov'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again." the next message comes from Adobe Acrobat "Could not open the file ''01 Introduction/01_01_welcome.mov'.
I checked the properties of the link and in Actions it is listed as Open a file, File:D:\Quickbooks Pro Training\01 Introduction\01_01_Welcome.mov
On my laptop I uninstalled Reader 9.3.4 and installed Reader 8.1.2 and the links worked. I then uninstalled Reader 8.1.2 and re-installed Reader 9.3.4 and they stopped working.
Any suggestions to help me fix this issue?
    Thanks

This bug has been reported by others and appears to have been introduced with 9.3.4. I have not heard of any fixes, you you may have to wait for a future update from Adobe.

  • Links stopped working

Can someone look at these links and see why they might have
    stopped
    working?
    http://righttax.org/pdf.html
There are three buttons in the middle of the page which were
    working. I
was surprised to see that they have stopped. The files are
    all on the
site, the links work locally and they load if I access them
    directly:
    http://righttax.org/pdfs/nk06.07web.xls.pdf
    (takes a long time to
    load, sorry)
I'm stumped and would really appreciate any help.
    Thanks

    >>
    http://righttax.org/pdftest.html
You are using form submit buttons without using the
    <form> element.
    >>
    http://righttax.org/pdf.html
With JavaScript off, the buttons do nothing at all. With JS
    on, I get
all three files. As you mentioned, they are very slow
    loading. I
recommend using a simple text link that includes the file
    sizes.
    Something like:
    <a href="pdfs/NK06.07web.xls.pdf">N. Kingstown 06/07
    data</a> (3.7 MB)
You can dress that up with CSS if you want it to have a
    different look
    than your other links.
This has the added benefit in that users can right-click and
    Save As or
choose to open in a new window/tab (if their browser is set
    to load PDF
    files in the browser).
    >>
    http://righttax.org/pdftest.html
The submit buttons don't work even with JS turned on. The
    reason is
that there is no MM_openBrWindow() function available. That
    function is
typically inserted into the head section when you create such
    a link.
If you did this in a different file, look for the JavaScript
    in the
    head section of that file.
My recommendation for text links applies here, too.
Side note: If you're recommending Adobe Acrobat (Adobe
    Reader), I
    recommend linking to Adobe's reader.
    http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html
Otherwise, you might want to recommend PDF Reader/Writer
    since that's
    where you're linking.

  • Behringer UCG102 Guitar Link stop working after upgrade to Lion

    Hi,
I  have a Behringer UCG102 Guitar Link that worked in the past (using Mac OS X Snow Leopard without any special driver, before upgrading to Mac OS X Lion) without any problem but now has stopped working. The device is working properly on Windows computers. Also I recently bougth a Behringer Xenyx  2442USB mixer and tested on a windows computer and it works perfectly. So I think it is not a problem with my mixer hardware neither my guitar link unit.
But when I try to use it any of them on my Apple MacBook Pro running Mac OS X Lion (10.7.3) they do not work. I can reproduce sounds coming from my computer to the mixer, but I'm not able to record nothing. I've followed the indications. In the Audio/Midi settings application I select USB Audio Codec as default Input and output device. I did the same on the "System Preferences -> Sounds".
Also in any recording application tested (Audacity, GarageBand, EnergyXT2.5) I selected again as input source the one labeled as "USB Audio Codec", but no sound is recorded.
I've noticed that in "System Preferences -> Sounds" in the input section, when I select "USB Audio CODEC" as device for sound input, it is not possible to change the settings for that device (it shows "The selected device has no input controls" and the Input level bar is completely at left. If I select the integrated microphone I'm able to select the input level and the bar shows the sounds the microphone record.
Something similar happens with the Audio MIDI Setup application where in the input section of the USB Audio CODEC all the level controls (Master, 1, 2) are disabled and grayed
It is clearly a problem in the driver in the latest version of the operating systems, and it seems this bug have been already reported by many people. Does Apple have any plan to solve that issue?

If you can put a step by step tutorial with pictures I would greatly appreciate, because i could not make the UCG 102 work and I used it a lot on my other computer with windows to use Impulses to simulate cabs, so if you can do it I would love it !!! Sorry for my bad english

  • Dynaic Link stopped working in  new installation

    Hi,
I just installed the 64 bit CS5 on a brand new Windows 7 64bit HP PC with plenty of performance power (Windows Experience Index 5.9).  Anyway, during the very first use, as soon as I started working, I got the "Dynamic Link has stopped working" error.  Why would this happen on a new computer and new installation?  Is it something to worry about or that will casue a loss of unctionaltiy?
    Thank you,
    Mike

    I deleted your other post.
I also made a change so that your problem.jpg shows on this page.

  • Safari 5.1.2 suddenly stopped working

I used Safari yesterday and it was working. I tried it today at 2 locations that I use frequently for their wifi and it has stopped working. (home and at work) Other browsers are making the connection.
The only difference between today and yesterday is that we did replace the internal hard drive because the old one was about ready to die. We used time machine to restore my compter to my preferences and software after we installed the new drive.
Do I need to reinstall safari? It's the only thing that isn't working after this whole hard drive thing.

We used time machine to restore my compter to my preferences and software after we installed the new drive.
Preferences may be corrupted. Try troubleshooting the Safari .plist file. (.plist files store all the apps preferences)
    Quit Safari.
    Go to ~/Library/Preferences
Move the com.apple.Safari.plist file from the Preferences folder to the Desktop.
Relaunch Safari. If it functions as it should, move that .plist file to the Trash. If that didn't help, move the .plist file back to the Preferences folder.
You can definitely try reinstalling Safari >  Safari 5.1.2
You may also want to run Disk Utility  /Applications/Utilities just to make sure the startup disk doesn't need repairing.

  • Safari, Firefox, Itunes and Update stop working, internet connection is properly working

    I have a 15 month old MacBook with OS X 10.6.7.
Since two days, Safari and Firefox stop working after browsing through a few (randomly chosen) pages. That is: initially, things seem to work ok (a bit slower maybe), but after a while the page loading progress bar (in blue) gets stuck, and so does the browser. By then Itunes and Software Update don't work either. I get the error message: You are not connected to the internet.
Sometimes, the programs start working again after a while
When going to system preferences / network / Assist me / diagnostics, I get the report that the internet connection is working properly (it is, because I can type this on my other laptop).
Using a tip from the Appel support community, I also tried Assist me / assistant, and set up the network again. Same problems arise.
I have tried a few more things:
    - Clean up the system from additional programs
    - Backed up files and removed them to create extra space
Although I do not know if it is related to teh above problem, we did experience a slower startup of the MacBook in the past few weeks.
Is there anybody who can help us with this?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions/explanations.

This my sound too simple, but I just kept clikning on the arrow next to the selected music and it finally "Kicked" in.

  • Flash 8 Links Stop Working!

I've gone through the forums here and elsewhere but found no solution. I apologize if I've over-looking something.
    I use Flash 8.
I'm making this very simple Nav Box where on certain links open in a new window/tab. Those links work great.
But most of the links are set to open in the same window that the Nav Box is on. When saving the SWF and HTML, the links work great.
The problem comes when I place it on other pages/sites. The "Self" links never work. Here are samples.
This is the HTML exported via Flash8
    http://ex3communications.com/Samples/NetLinks.html
Here are two different test pages consisting the SAMEswf file (loaded to the page correctly).
    http://midgeorgiafellowship.net/index4.html
    http://www.dovm.org/DOVM_AVP-NewLayout.html
Neither page nor link in the Nav Box requires a Iframe nor anything "special" to work.
Here are to version of the AS2 code I've tried (Using the Day Of Victory Ministries link as a sample)
    #1
    on (release) {
    getURL("http://www.dovm.org/DOVM_AVP.html");
    #2
    on (release) {
    getURL("http://www.dovm.org/DOVM_AVP.html","_self");
    ========================================================
    MINOR UPDATE
    ========================================================
The file still doesn't work. But I uploaded it to another section of the server (not sure why I did that) and it worked.
BUT, there's a catch. It only works on pages that are ON THAT SERVER.
I've tried it on 2 different servers (Aa & Bb) with the same results.
Anyone know what might be causing this? Both directories are public.
Even trying to add the Flash to a page through a embedding code yields the same results.
    Examples:
Flash is place on server Aa & the page that holds it is on server Bb, then the links don't work (and vis-versa).
But Placing the both the Flash and the page that holds it on the same server ends in success.
Unless I'm mistaken, the way flash works, it matters not which server it is on so long as it's directory is public. This enables the flash to be placed on any page (via it's root link / Embedding code) and still have it's buttons work. Especially if the button's links are full "http:// www.  Website  .com" address as I've used here.
    What am I missing?
    Thanks in advance

  • Safari screen is blacked, links not working

Safari screen is "grayed" out, no links work, but I can call up a different website.  The icons for multi screen and history don't work either.

  • IWeb 08, Publish Videos, Navigation Bar link stops working.  Why?

In iWeb, I am building a site with that includes two movie pages, each has a video (QT H.264, 640x280, medium quality). One movie per page. When I publish to a folder, I test both with Safari and Firefox. Each displays the same problem. When I click on the navigation bar link and go to the first video, the navigation bar ceases to work after I'm on the movie page. I can play the video, but I have to browser back because the navigation bar doesn't highlight, rollover, or anything. Both browsers exhibit this. Thanks.

Make sure you don't have any other objects overlapping the navbar.
