Safari 5.1.3 doesn't work
Hi. I upgraded to OS X 10.7.3 and new Safari version 5.1.3. When I try to open a page by typing the site on the address bar it just doesn't open. It doesn't open any page. I can't figure out the problem.
Thanks.
Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It won’t solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Third-party system modifications are a common cause of usability problems. By a “system modification,” I mean software that affects the operation of other software -- potentially for the worse. The following procedure will help identify which such modifications you've installed. Don’t be alarmed by the complexity of these instructions -- they’re easy to carry out and won’t change anything on your Mac.
These steps are to be taken while booted in “normal” mode, not in safe mode. If you’re now running in safe mode, reboot as usual before continuing.
Below are several lines of text in monospaced type, which are UNIX shell commands. They’re harmless, but they must be entered exactly as given in order to work. If you have doubts about the safety of running these commands, search this site for other discussions in which they’ve been used without any report of ill effects.
Some of the commands will line-wrap or scroll in your browser, but each one is really just a single line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, and you can then either copy or drag it. The headings “Step 1” and so on are not part of the commands.
Note: If you have more than one user account, Step 2 must be taken as an administrator. Ordinarily that would be the user created automatically when you booted the system for the first time. The other steps should be taken as the user who has the problem, if different. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this paragraph doesn’t apply.
To begin, launch the Terminal application; e.g., by entering the first few letters of its name in a Spotlight search. A text window will open with a line already in it, ending either in a dollar sign (“$”) or a percent sign (“%”). If you get the percent sign, enter “sh” (without the quotes) and press return. You should then get a new line ending in a dollar sign.
Step 1
Copy or drag -- do not type -- the line below into the Terminal window, then press return:
kextstat -kl | awk '!/com\.apple/ {print $6 $7}'
Post the lines of output (if any) that appear below what you just entered (the text, please, not a screenshot.)
Step 2
Repeat with this line:
sudo launchctl list | sed 1d | awk '!/0x|com\.apple/ {print $3}'
This time, you'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning not to screw up. You don't need to post the warning.
Step 3
launchctl list | sed 1d | awk '!/0x|com\.apple/ {print $3}'
Step 4
ls -1A /e*/mach* {,/}L*/{Ad,Compon,Ex,Fram,In,Keyb,La,Mail/Bu,P*P,Priv,Qu,Scripti,Servi,Spo,Sta}* L*/Fonts 2> /dev/null
Important: If you synchronize with a MobileMe account, your me.com email address may appear in the output of the above command. If so, change it to something like “[email protected]” before posting.
Step 5
osascript -e 'tell application "System Events" to get the name of every login item'
Remember, steps 1-5 are all drag-and-drop or copy-and-paste, whichever you prefer -- no typing, except your password. Also remember to post the output.
You can then quit Terminal.

Safari show all tabs doesn't work all the time
It is annoying: safari show all tabs doesn't work all the time. The little icon to the right of the "New Tab" area sometimes works, and sometimes doesn't. The Shift Command Back-slash, sometimes works, and sometimes doesn't. I find no rhyme nor reason for this. I have a MacBook Pro, Mountain Lion, the latest updates. It doesn't matter if I am in Full Screen or not.
I am quite confused regarding this.Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type of copy paste the following:
~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db
Click Go then move the Cache.db file to the Trash.
Quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that helped, empty the cache more often from your keyboard.

Safari copy url button doesn't work
I just upgraded from an ipad2 to an iPad air 2. Before, if I wanted to copy and paste a url I'd use the copy button. Now,on the new iPad air 2, the copy button just wipes out whatever I've previously copied, and doesn't copy the url.
You tap and hold down in the URL field until you get the option to select all. Then you choose the option to select all. An option to Copy appears and you select that and then you should be able to paste that URL into a text field.
Safari copy url button doesn't work
I Realize that you must know the steps but I am just double checking. If that is not working for you, and you are not having copy and paste issues elsewhere in other apps, I would try clearing Safari, force close it and then reset your iPad.
Go to Settings>Safari>Clear History and Website Data
Now force close Safari. In order to close apps, you have to drag the app up from the multitasking display. Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the app that you want to close and then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.
Next, reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up. -
My screen is frozen on Safari. Hard rebot doesn't work. Shutting done doesn't help. What can I do?
Try Force Quitting Safari. You can access Force Quit either by clicking the Apple symbol in the upper right and choosing Force Quit or keyboard shortcut of Command - Option - Esc.

My Safari icon/app is missing. I How do i get it back? I try settings - general - restrictions - safari - off / on but doesn't work
First, it might be you simply put Safari in a folder somewhere. Try searching for it using Spotlight. Drag down on the screen to display the Spotlight search bar and type "Safari". If you see Safari, it is still accessible on your iPad. If not, try the following.
Reset your iPad by simultaneously pressing and holding the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons until you see the Apple Logo. This can take up to 15 seconds so be patient and don't release the buttons until the logo appears. Try again to see if the problem persists.
Finally, if that doesn't help, try turning off restrictions, then turning them back on. -
Safari 6.0 command- doesn't work
Command+ works fine but command- doesn't work. I'm running 10.7.5
Just add the following to the file com.apple.WebProcess.sb.
Please add it below the Basic system paths and above the FIXME: or System and user preferences:
;; Plugins
(subpath "/Library/Internet Plug-Ins")
(home-subpath "/Library/Internet Plug-Ins")
And it's fixed! -
It just says Failed to open page. Where should I go from here?
Roundandpointy:
Unless you are inside your LAN, either wired or wireless, the address you entered will not work (as pointed out below) on any browser. To access your router from outside your LAN, i.e. from the Internet, you have to go to the router's home page from inside your network, using the address you used, then click the 'status' tab and write down the IP Address. Then, under the Administration-Management tab, enable HTTP access and enable Remote Management via HTTP from ANY IP address. Save your settings.
Then, from outside your network, using MSIE, enter the IP address you wrote down like this: HTTP://xx.yy.zzz.vvv:8080 and you should get your login screen to your router. Be sure to add the port number 8080 appended to your IP address, presuming you did not change that port number.
Now, you wanted to use Safari; that won't work and Linksys is aware of this as of 2 weeks ago (for the EA4500 & EA3500 routers). Regrettably, this means a Mac or any iOS device cannot access the router and therefore not be able to access an attached external HDD behind the router. Supposedly Linksys is working on this issue, since they were able to replicate it while I was on the phone with them, i.e. they could access my login page via MSIE but they could not do so from an iPad or a Mac running Safari. I guess we'll all just have to stay tuned. I'm querying them every week or so and will post back here if they can make their equipment compatible with the millions of iOS/Safari devices out there. -
Safari 4.0 now doesn't work on Mac OS X 10.4.11, why?
So I've been using the Beta, moved over to the full 4.0 version, and now my Top Sites produces this super elongated screen and the edit button at the bottom will allow me to go in to edit, but won't allow me to make any changes at all.
Plus, when I try to use other searches the screen is messed up and I can't read anything.
I never had these problems before... Can anyone help me before I lose my minD?!?!
I've had to move over to Firefox because its the only browser that works now!!Did you install security update 2009-002? Safari 4 needs this to work.
Have you tried this:
Repairing permissions is important, and should always be carried out both before and after any software installation or update.
Go to Disk Utility (this is in your Utilities Folder in your Application folder) and click on the icon of your hard disk (not the one with all the numbers).
In First Aid, click on Repair Permissions.
This only takes a minute or two in Tiger, but much longer in Leopard.

and here:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302672
An article on troubleshooting Permissions can be found here:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2963
By the way, you can ignore any messages about SUID or ACL file permissions, as explained here:
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1448?viewlocale=en_US
If you were having any serious problems with your Mac you might as well complete the exercise by repairing your hard disk as well. You cannot do this from the same start-up disk. Reboot from your install disk (holding down the C key). Once it opens, select your language, and then go to Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Select your hard disk as before and click Repair.
Once that is complete reboot again from your usual start-up disk.

Safari: read pages offline doesn't work on iPod T, iOS 6.0.:
On my girlsfriends iPhone 4G you can save any safari page by adding it to "Leseliste/reading list", like announcend on apple webpage. On my iPod 4G comes a notice : "Safari can not open this page, because your iPod touch is not connected to the internet".
Is this a software downgrade for iPod touch users? We got all the iOS 6.0.1! Life could be so easy, the technology/ programm exists why does it not work? Or is there any update for safari?
By the way: the camera on iPhone got HDR-Option, on iPod it is not chooseable. No HDR on 4G iPod. The 4G iPod has a poor camera

Uploading Safari images into 'Blackboard' doesn't work.
I am using an iMac G5, OS X (10.4.8), 2Ghz PowerPC with 512 MG of RAM.
I am able to successfully create .html files with various programs (Nvu, Dreamweaver, Mozilla,) and I can open those documents and see the images in them in my default Safari browser (as well Explorer, Firefox, Mozilla,). I USED to able to upload those documents successfully into the 'Blackboard' program my college uses. Here I can't be helpful: I did something -perhaps changed my browser from Netscape Navigator to Safari, but I can't guarantee that's the problem- so that the uploads show the text but no longer load the images. When I open the documents in the Blackboard program, the images don't show as broken, they show as question marks in a small blue square in the center of the missing image.
I have tried the Blackboard help site, and all the image-loading recommendations I see on this forum. I've tried going to 'Safari> Preferences> Appearance> Display images when the page opens' and making sure that box is checked. I've tried finding 'Safari> File> Publish as> and making sure images are published, but I can't find that option on my Mac. None of the tech support at school can solve the problem -though the process supposedly works just fine on a PC. I have struggled with this for months, and since I teach art history and need to show images, it is making my life miserable. Any help would be much appreciated.

iMac G5 Mac OS X (10.4.8) PowerMac8,2Thanks for the rapid response! A pity I don't have the language to be of more help.
First, 'Blackboard.edu' is a service institutions of education subscribe to. Faculty users publish their class webpages, and can keep those inhouse or make them available to the www. So, I've been publishing web pages (in house) for my classes for years. This year I've run into problems with getting my .html documents to load the images contained in them. I do believe my colleagues have uploaded my documents successfully onto their Blackboards via PCs, leading me to believe this is a Mac problem . . .
Someone suggested this was a browser problem, so I kept trying different default browsers, searching their preferences for any boxes that needed to be checked to allow images. Each time I upload I am told the upload was sucessful -I get no error messages- and each time the images don't load.
I defaulted to Safari and did as you suggested, and there was a slight change. Instead of the blue-box question mark, the image title was displayed, but still no image.

Safari 5.1 Update doesn't work
Hello,
I've just updated my Mac from the updates that came out last night, but now my Safari won't do anything. When I launch it, I get a blank page, with the loading bar at the top only going to the 'www.' bit on the address bar, then I get the apple beach ball, and nothing happens.
I've tried to re-install, but nothing happens, I simply can't get it to work. Has anyone got any information as to how I can get it to work?
I'm running a Mac OS X 10.6.8, Intel Core 2 Duo iMacYeah, I've noticed that a lot of people are having this issue. I've no idea what to do about it, I've found my Crash Log - does any know how to make heads or tails of this? See what the problem could be? Chrome works fine, and I am able to connect to the internet through that, but not Safari:

Safari 5.1.5 doesn't work with my Class 1 digital id
Several days ago I discovered that my VeriSign digital id certificate no longer works with the safari browser. It functions perfectly on my windows based pc using the safari browser. It also functions perfectly in firefox and IE.
