Safari 5.1.4 update breaks SoftwareUpdate on 10.6.8 server, on 2008 xserve, IFJS_PropertyListConvertToType() called with type=3
We've got 3 new-to-us 2008 xserves that we put into service last week. Installed 10.6, updated up to 10.6.8 and took all of the software updates up until Safari 5.1.4. Computers all work fine. Then take the safari update -- afterwards, SoftwareUpdate crashes a bit after launch, gui or command line. The error when you do it on the command line is "IFJS_PropertyListConvertToType() called with type=3".
Over on the osx snow leopard server discussion board, several other people are reporting that they have the problem but only with the 2008 xserve, the 2009 xserve is just fine. (No reports yet about the 2006 xserve.)
I have reported the bug to apple, and they asked for a crash report, which I gave them. It's bug #11048593 (not sure if those are publicly viewable...)
We’re having the same issue on our 2008-era Xserve, but not on our other Snow Leopard servers and clients.
Apple released an Apple Software Installer Update 1.0 release today which may address the problem. See http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1512 Needless to say, you need to install this update manually using the downloaded DMG.
I’ll be installing this update this evening on our systems to see if this resolves our issue.

Blu Logic bluetooth calls using "Hey, Sir" do not go through my car's speakers since updating to iOS 8.3. They are routed through the iPhone 6 speaker after Siri says, "....calling ________ on speaker." The "on speaker" term was never used before. The Blu Logic bluetooth unit is an aftermarket device installed in a 2005 Buick LaCrosse. It worked perfectly until the iOS 8.3 update.

Blu Logic seems to keep a virtually invisible support presence on the internet. I did return to the aftermarket installer of the unit. He told me pretty much the same as you. Apple expects the equip. manufacturers to keep up with iOS. It's a bit of a Catch-22. Perhaps iOS 9 will exterminate the bugs!!
In the meantime, the only thing I've really lost is hands-free dialing for bluetooth calls in my car. -
Safari 1.3.1 update compatibility
Downloaded the Safari 1.3.1 update. Am running OSX 10.4.3. Installation attempts ended up with a message box saying that I could not install the update unless I was running X 10.3.9 or later. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Unable to remove malware on safari after installing maverick update

On 08/16/14 I installed the Java Standard Edition to replace the Java Oracle Software. I requested software update for Safari and discovered the Safari Update and installed accordingly. Then, I recognized pop-up windows constantly opening with the advertisement to install MacKeeper. Apparently, my trial period had ended, thus requiring payment to execute a complete clean-up of macbook hard drive. Since then, I have downloaded CalmXav to remove any and all corrupted files, software, etc. Yet, I continually have multiple pop-up windows open when using Safari. I have gone to the Safari Preferences and changed privacy setting to block all cookies and other website data "from third parties" in addition to removing all websites and cleared the cache. However, upon restarting macbook, I find the settings in Safari Privacy reverted back to "never" block cookies and other website data. Can you please advise how to resolve this issue of what I believe to be "malware pop-up windows from occurring?"The Safari update was bogus. You may have installed the "DownLite" trojan, perhaps under a different name. Remove it as follows.
Malware is constantly changing to get around the defenses against it. The instructions in this comment are valid as of now, as far as I know. They won't necessarily be valid in the future. Anyone finding this comment a few days or more after it was posted should look for more recent discussions or start a new one.

Uninstall any extensions you don't know you need, including any that have the word "Spigot" or "Conduit" in the description. If in doubt, uninstall all extensions. Do the equivalent for the Firefox and Chrome browsers, if you use either of those.
This trojan is distributed on illegal websites that traffic in pirated movies. If you, or anyone else who uses the computer, visit such sites and follow prompts to install software, you can expect much worse to happen in the future.
You may be wondering why you didn't get a warning from Gatekeeper about installing software from an unknown developer, as you should have. The reason is that the DownLite developer has a codesigning certificate issued by Apple, which causes Gatekeeper to give the installer a pass. Apple could revoke the certificate, but as of this writing, has not done so, even though it's aware of the problem. This failure of oversight is inexcusable and has compromised both Gatekeeper and the Developer ID program. You can't rely on Gatekeeper alone to protect you from harmful software.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select

What are the things 10.6.8 update break?
After the 10.6.8 update I am having so many issues,
first, the %100 cpu usage of dock, disabled parallels, and now it is ok,
then, a reboot and I am unable to login, I enter my password, it begins the login process, then logs me out,
if I persist, it logs me in after a couple of tries, but each time a few of my applications are missing at random, and the environment is very very unstable, sometimes I see no desktop background, sometimes I start firefox and I am logged out again.
I've seen some people suggesting removal of login items to resolve a similar but not the same issue, so I'm inclined to think overall, there is an issue with some applications which 10.6.8 update breaks.
For starters my login items are:

Does anyone have any problems with any of these?
I only verified the parallels desktop 6 issue up to now.

I can't launch safari after downloading so updates. HELP!
Ashka, I have tried to "transfer purchases from device" but that is what I am saying that I do not see the app in the "mobile applications" directory after I do that process. I was wondering if anyone else knew of a way to get to the ipa file that is stored on the iPad such as a program that could browse the directories of the iPad of even an app that could do it so I can get and save the actual app in ipa format.

You already seem to know what the issue is, it is the parallax feature that was added to iOS 7. From your rant, it appears that your attempt to work around this was not successful. According to the Apple documents I've seen, they recommend that you enlarge your image (not reduce it). Make your image have excess space on all sides, which is not displayed on the screen. This way, when you tilt your device one direction or another, it can shift the image to give the appearance of 3D.
As a photographer, I like to use the full frame of my images, but I also know that I need to leave room around the image as well. I have some photos I have taken that I can't use because I have them cropped too tightly too, but I have others that work just fine. Just remember that part of the image file is "off screen" so that if iOS has to shift the image up it has some image that can scroll onto the screen. It needs this space on all sdes, so just make youre images larger, and keep in mind that a portion on each side will be outside the normally visible screen... If you don't like this feature, you can always go into the settigns and turn it off. -
Mac OSX 10.4.8 Update Breaks Raid Striping -- System will no longer boot

I'm a newbie from the PC world with a Mac Pro. For the last 8 hours I've been trying to get a Raid-0 configuration to work with no success.
The Raid array constructs ok and the system boots. Once that's done the Software Update screen arrives and I would select install all... then the machine would not boot. I get a Grey Shade like affect and the message to power off and restart. Powering off does nothing.
So I started again for the Nth time and added each Software Update individually. All loaded and rebooted successfully until the 10.4.8 Update.
As soon as that loads, installs and restarts the machine will not boot.
I called Apple's Tech Support and they told me they do NOT support RAID on this machine. I said what are you talking about. They put me on hold talked to a supervisor and came back with the same story. I just don't get it...
So anyone have any insight and advice on why the update breaks my Raid-0? What can I do to get over the problem (I'd like to have the RAID...)?

Mac Pro Mac OS X (10.4.8)Yes, you needed an emergency boot drive anyway to repair your RAID boot drive. Just use the same one in addition to a working clone or backup of your regular system.
Apple made it easy to install or update security updates and system updates from an alternate drive (but you will have to use the stand-alone (combo preferably) updaters instead - which many use already as normal part of upgrades for years now (they seem more useful and reliable).
My preference is a dedicated boot drive with OS and apps and minimal home directory - no media files - and fast, like 10K Raptor. I use RAID for my home directory so it isn't on the boot drive for years to improve performance and keep the OS separate. Never a problem and nice mix. -

Safari 8.0.2 was last updated on the 20Jan2015 and is my default browser.
Below listed are issues with Safari after last two updates.
When I click web link from mail, Safari does not open that link. I changed to Chrome browsing & it works.
When I click to open new window from the dock, I get last browsing page of the previous opened window web page, where by my setting is for a bank page for a new safari window. .
Every time I click on the link to open in the same browsing web page, a new tab opens with advertisement web page. How can I stop advertisement pages to open automatically.
Safari does not open first time by one finger single click on the safari icon from dock, need two finger click and then select the preferences.

ITunes not running after Safari and Quick Time update
HELP NEEDED!!After updating to the latest version of Safari and Quick Time, i got this error message the next time I started my computer:
"AppSyncNotifier.exe: The program can't start because CoreCoundation.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem."
I tried to open iTunes but I can't. I tried to uninstall so I can reinstall but it I got another error message that said I do not have the rights to uninstall, etc. I am the only user of this computer and I have admin rights. This PC used to run on vista but I recently upgraded to Windows 7(x64) and I encoutered the same problem - i could not uninstall/reinstall iTunes because "I do not have permission"
After upgrading to Windows 7 iTunes was running okay until the Safari and Quick Time update.

I see the iTunes thing on my control panel-programs window, but it's no longer in the program (x86) folder on the c:/drive. iTunes on my computer is like gum stuck to my shoe. same goes for bonjour. Please be patient some more. Do you have any more suggestions?? I'm planning to get me an iPad but if I can't get iTunes to run properly on my computer I'm having second thoughts about it now.

Ever since I installed the Safari 5.1.7 update my trackpad malfunctions.
Ever since I installed the Safari 5.1.7 update, my trackpad does not functing well. I know its not a faulty trackpad because it also malfunctions when I install a different mouse. The malfunction happens when I launch the Safari application. How do I fix this? Is there a way to undo a software update?
Try rebooting into Safe Mode, this will clear some caches. I'm thinking one or more may have become corrupt. Have you done any basic troubleshooting such as removing he MTP's batteries and restarting it or restarting the computer or anything else?
Also PLEASE use the Profile Update , otherwise we cannot tell anything about your system which makes it extremely difficult to troubleshoot. -
Can Send Mail, But Can't Receive Mail (Post Safari 3.1 & Security Update)
Weird!
I was able to receive mail when I first came in today, but since updating this morning to Safari 3.1 and Security Update, unable to receive messages.
In "Activity Viewer", I can see Mail trying to get messages but stalls on "Fetching new mail...", "[INBOX - XXX] Updating cache, comparing notes on server...", and "Synchronizing with server... Traversing mailbox hierarchy..."
Not sure if it's related to updates, but it sure seems like it

SAFARI 6.1.3 update to Reader 11.0.07 … cannot open pdf files that are presently on my computer. Previous version had no problem. Any ideas? (Here is the message: Adobe Reader could not open 'Digital_Holiday_Cookbook.pdf' because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded).
