Safari 5.1.5 not redirecting (10.6.8)

Today, I have been having problems with Safari on a local WiFi spot (which Firefox doesn't have problems with) - with Firefox, I get the iniitial screen with a login button, click on that, get asked about it redirecting (to the - firewall? - server, which I allow it to do, it goes through another screen and then I can go wherever after that.
With Safari lately (I haven't been using it much, so it's at least since the Java Update (7, I think was the most recent for Snow Leopard)), I get a 'Redirecting...' in the upper left part of the window, the window 'blinks', and I get same message, and it keeps repeating without seeming to go any further. So I'm not sure if Firefox gives me the notice, but Safari just recycles the page (endlessly, it seems), or what is going on. Safari doesn't give me the beachball, either.
I checked Safari in the Finder, and it does NOT have 32-bit run mode checked, nor the Rosetta checkbox. MBPro (2.66GHz Unibody, March 2009 model, with 8GB of RAM and 320GB hard drive).
Anyone actually know what is going on with Safari? It's useless to me currently, as my internet service is the local WiFi spots ('nuther story there I won't go into for now). Looks like it will be Firefox (11) for a while.

Try using OpenDNS. Only takes a minute to setup. If it doesn't help, it's very easy to remove.
Use OpenDNS for better speed, more security, includes anti phishing filters, prevents re directs, blcoks the flashback troajn, and it's free.
Open System Preferences / Preferences then select the Network tab. Click the Advanced tab then click the DNS tab.
Click +
Enter these addresses exactly as you see them here.
208.67.222.222
Click +
208.67.220.220
Then click OK.
If that didn't help, just delete those addresses from the DNS tab.

I face the problem that after connecting to the wireless guest network, it won't redirect me to the ISE guest portal . This happen on my iPhone. The iPhone is running on iOS 5.0.1
Whilst on workstation it's working well.

I still fail whilst i testing on my iPhone.
I'm not using ISE self-signed certificate, i create CSR and signed by root CA server. So once i try to connect it won't prompt me the "accept ceritficate"
My WLC local auth certificate verdor certificate is signed by the same root CA server as well.
So i test on desktop to run safari broswer, it able to redirect to ISE guest portal.
Can please suggest more troubleshooting guide?

Session Time out - Relogin not redirecting

Hi,
If I am in a particular page of an application, and session times out, I get Page Expired window. On click of that, it takes me to login page. After I relogin, it is NOT redirecting me to the page where the time out happened. It just redirects to the Application Main page. Is there a way to let ADF redirect to the page where time out happened?

Mail hyperlinks open in safari, but screen is not automatically moving from mail to safari, only manually

i'm facing already for some time an issue that i can get solved unfortunately.
After OS update towards mountian lion (i believe, but not sure), a hyperlink in an email is opened in Safari, but my screen is not automatically swapping towards safari from mail. Not if i'm working on the desktop, nor working in full screen mode. I need to move manually to the other screen, to see the webpage opening.
In the past it was working, but I can't find the settings to get this solved. Today I've update to Yosemite, and it didn't solve this for me.
Who can help me? It is really appreciated

Safari and iTunes will not open on my Macbook Air after Migration Assistant

I did the Migration Assistant via wireless (from Macbook Pro TO Macbook Air) last night and it did work. However, my Safari and iTunes will not open on my Macbook Air now. The error messages are as follows:
Safari: "Safari quit unexpectedly. Click Reopen to open the application again. Click Report to see more detailed information and send a report to Apple."
- I tried reopening the app, restarting, and shutting down the computer. Nothing has worked.
iTunes: "The file 'iTunes Library.itl' cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes. Would you like to download iTunes now?"
- I clicked "Download iTunes" but then another message comes up that all my software is up to date.
Any help is very appreciated.

It is a shame...Yahoo has always been bad with Safari...I think most people here keep a copy of Firefox/Camino for cases like this when webdesigners don't make their pages compatible with Safari. It's not much of a problem anymore but there are still a few sites depending on where you surf...
Actually the reason I started using Mail is because the standard Yahoo mail wouldn't display custom fonts, etc. on Mac. At that time not even with Firefox for Windows. But I'm glad that I switched because I enjoy using Mail much more that Yahoo's webmail which by the way was never good at searching...
Oops this sounds like Yahoo bashing!!! It's not meant to be...just letting you know other people have the same issues you're experiencing...

Safari and mail is not working on my new iPad with iOS 5.1.1, tried every trick in the book but to no avail. Please suggest in case I want to update my ios5.1.1 as I fear that it might have corrupted somehow, what's the way to do it. I don't want to upgrade to higher iOS versions. Thanks

Close Safari and Mail app on the Task Bar and re-launch.
1. Double-click the Home button to reveal Task Bar
2. Hold Safari and Mail app down for a second or two until you see the minus sign
3. Tap the minus sign to close app
4. Tap area above Task Bar to return to Home screen

I am having the same problem. My airport says i'm connected with full bars but when i click on safari it takes a few minutes then says i'm not connected to the server. Now the kicker is i have a magicjack and you need internet to run it and that works fine... also i can access my itunes store which also requires internet. I can only run safari with the ethernet cable connected. That is how i'm connected now.. any ideas what it might be.. i have reset safari, emptied the cache, renewed the DHCP lease.. and all of the obvious... Please anyone help..oh p.s. my iphone picks up the wireless so it is working.. HELP......

I just recently installed Skype because Yahoo! instant messanger has been giving me problems. Safari was running just fine last night, and when I turned my computer on this morning, I received this message:

The procedure entry point sqlite3_wal_checkpoint could not be located in the dynamic link library SQLite3.dll.
When I click "OK," I receive this message:
Safari can't open.
Your copy of Safari is missing important software resources. Please reinstall Safari.
I have reinstalled Safari several times, but I still receive the same messages. I had found a thread from 2010, and attempted to try what was suggested on there, and it suggested to uninstall the AAS as well as safari, and now I cannot open iTunes. This is very bothersome because I use Safari as my primary browser.
Some aditional information, I am using a PCLaptop and running Windows 7. I have a lot of things saved in my bookmarks on Safari, and really would not like to use them. Also, I am a bit computer illiterate and need everything spelled out for me.
Help please!

I can click on the "upload photos/video" field and it takes me to Finder to select the photo - but on selecting the photo, the Finder screen disappears as normal but from then on nothing happens.

From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Privacy tab.
Click: Remove All Website Data
Now empty the Safari cache.
Back to the menu bar, click Safari > Preferences then select the Advanced tab.
Select: Show Develop menu in menu bar
Now click Develop from the menu bar. From the drop down menu click Empty Caches.
Quit and relaunch Safari then try Facebook.
If that doesn't help, it may be a Safari extension preventing you from uploading content to Facebook.
From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab. Turn that OFF, quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that helped, turn one extension on then quit and relaunch Safari to test until you find the incompatible extension then click uninstall.

This could be a plist corruption problem, but I'm not sure.
Sometimes, the preference list files get corrupted. You can usually just remove them and they'll get re-created. This may require you to reset certain settings. A notable exception to this is the Mail plist which actually stores the Library structure of your email accounts. Deleting the Mail plist will definitely cause lots of problems, but is recoverable.
The plist files are stored in the /Users/username/Library/Preferences/ folder. They usually have the naming convention of com.company.programname.plist.
A simple troubleshooting technique is to move a suspect plist file out of the Preferences folder and start up the app, again. It will re-create the plist from scratch.
In your case, I would try the com.apple.dock.plist. You can use Activity Monitor to kill the Dock app and it will restart. Or, you can log out and log back in.
There is a new file with Leopard called com.apple.dock.db. I haven't figured out what it does, but you might try moving it out. If anything gets worse, you can move the old file back in replacing the newly created one.
This all sound somewhat odd, so I don't know if this will help.

Safari 6.0 will not display pdf's

When I upgraded to OS X mountain lion and did all of the updates that were required, I found that the new version of safari (6.0) would not display pdf documents in the browser..... here's how i resolved it.
Completely quit safari
Back up data
In Finder select GO > Go to Folder. or use key combo Shift-Command-G and enter the following: /Library/Internet Plug-ins then press return
(it's easier to view in list mode)
Delete the file called " AdobePDFViewerNPAPI.plugin "
Restart Safari and delete the cache and try to view an online pdf.
I found it prudent to have the latest version of flash installed

Back up all data.
If Adobe Reader or Acrobat is installed, there should be a setting in its preferences such as Display PDF in Browser. I don't use those applications myself, so I can't be more precise. Deselect that setting, if it's selected. Otherwise do as follows.
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:
/Library/Internet Plug-ins
In the Finder, select
Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste into the text box that opens (command-V), then press return.
From the folder that opens, move to the Trash any items that have "Adobe" or “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari, and test.
The "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can also interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you may need to remove it as well, if it's present. The same goes for a plugin called "iGetter," and perhaps others — I don't have a complete list.
If you still have the issue, repeat with this line:
~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari again.
