Safari 5.1.7 Tab - How to close them with 1 click?

I have just installed Safari 5.1.7.
What happened to the X in the tabs to close them?
I have looked in preferences, can't see any obvious way of restoring the missing "click on the X to close" option.
I now have to right click & select close from a drop down list. That's nuts!
I would love a solution to this before I end up reverting to version 5.1.6.

If only it were that easy Barry.
I've tried hovering and gave up after 20 seconds.
I wasn't the first to use Safari after the upgrade to 5.1.7 & I wonder if the other user has some how managed to alter some obscure setting without knowing what she was doing.
Anyone else have any ideas?

Open ports slow down my internet connection. How to close them? What to do?

My MacBook Pro has massive problems with internet connectivity. At times the connection is blazingly fast, at times unbelievably slow.
I've spoken to my internet provider who was able to inform me that my computer opens up 500-700 ports which is probably what's slowing down the network connectivity. When I'm online with the MacBook Pro, the web gets unstable – also for other connected devices like iPad etc.
The web supporter asked me to run an anti-virus scan which I did – with no results. The problem persists. When my MacBook Pro is not online, there are approximately 15 ports open, when I log on the web that number increases to between 500 and 700.
Is this normal?
Can anyone tell me how to solve this issue?
How do I figure out which application opens these ports? (and how to close them?)
I tried logging into another user account on the computer and the problem seemed to disappear, indicating that it is caused by something run only on my user account.

Open ports don't slow down your computer. The tech support person you spoke to doesn't know what they are talking about.
Basically, when you are using a web browser, opening a page means that the browser needs to open a connection for each element in the page (e.g., it needs to grab each picture, CSS, and JavaScript file that the page requires). This could be a couple of dozen, or it could be hundreds (and there's no telling what Flash content on the page will do). The browser tries to mitigate things a bit using a cache (you might check to make sure the cache is turned on, but this is the default setting). However, this is how all browsers work and how the whole system is designed to operate. You cannot "close" any ports, and they don't linger open, they remain open only as long as data is being transferred. This is expected and appropriate behavior.
The most likely culprit is that you are receiving poor DNS service from your service provider. Every time the computer sees an address like 'http://www.google.com', it needs to send out a request to figure out what numerical address goes with the human-readable name. If the DNS service your system is assigned to use doesn't respond lightning-quick, your experience is going to be very sluggish.
You might want to add an external DNS service to your list of DNS providers. Go to System Preferences > Network, select the network you are using on the left (Ethernet or AirPort), and click the 'Advanced' button. Click on the 'DNS' tab, then press the '+' button under the left panel. I would add the OpenDNS.com DNS servers. Add the following DNS addresses:

Click the 'OK' button. And then the 'Apply' button to save the changes.
That will probably fix the problem. If it doesn't the next most likely issue is either network congestion (e.g., your ISP's network is just too busy; a very common thing for small ISPs and cable Internet service), or the remote site that you are trying to contact is simply not performing so well.

Multible tabs open when i clik a link to a new tab; then do not open or even show up when i try to close them with 'close all tabs'..they are like 'ghost tabs'

This has been happening for several days now...the tabs are shown on the tab bar, but do not open up or close when i try to close them....when i tried 'close all tabs', which then says 'you are trying to close 2 tabs', they are not counted as being open....only way i can get rid of them is to close FireFox completely, then it starts all over again. Ghost Tabs!

All you have to do is double tap the home button to bring up the multi-tasking view, then swipe up on the screenshot of the app you want to exit.

Tabs don't close when I click more then 10 links

After updating to Firefox 11 a strange problem occurs when I click more then 10 links and try to close them: the links don't close and I have to close the window. This never happend before. I do some paid to click programs and have to click many links, so this is not very nice... Does anyone recognise this and is there already a fix for it?

Firefox asks (twice) to save and close tabs, on new open windows without tabs, when i close them.

About one month ago, i started to receive a message box from firefox, asking if i wanted to save and close tabs, on newly open windows (and pop-ups) without any tabs open on them.
And everytime i close the windows without tabs, firefox asks it twice...
I did not made any changes, so i don't know why it started doing this.

How to close popup with af:commandButton without submitting values?

Hi all,
I'm using JDeveloper 11.1.2.1
My popup has few af:inputText components with value attribute binded to view scope variables.
I set those view scope variables in backing bean before showing popup.
When I change values of input fields and click cancel (af:commandButton, partialSubmit=true, immediate=true), popup is closed.
Then, when I show popup again, values that I changed are visible although I set new values to view scope variables in backing bean before showing popup again.
I noticed that when I close popup using close icon in upper right corner of popup everything works fine.
Also, I tried using dialog cancel button and it also works fine.
Is there a way for closing popup using af:commandButton but without submitting values?
In previous releases of JDeveloper (<= 11.1.1.5) I didn't noticed this problem.

See the documentation of af:popup for that. Canceling a popup is a pure client-side operation. No event is sent to the server. No submit. No need to reset anything. I chose a theme and would like my home page to be a blank tab, but show the theme with icons on it instead of a white page. What is the use of having a cool theme if you never see it. Is this a posibility?

I chose the theme purple moon. I was hoping that the home page could be set up customized with icons of my most used websites and tool icons where you can see the theme, but the only think I can set it to is a blank white page.

I have now recently downloaded 10.0.2 which is confusing in itself, as, as far as I can ascertain that is actually version 11, but I'm not even sure about that.
Version 10.0.2 is the newest version and the successor to GarageBand '11 (version 6.0.5).
The '11 is referring to the iLife '11 suit of multimedia application - the older GarageBand was a part of this bundle.

quick question:
Say I have a class Empl with the properties: fname and id (getter and setters as well).
I also have a list of empl emplList that has 100 objects of type empl.
in plain java if I wish to iterate them it will simply be:
for (int x=0; x<listEmpl.length(); x++)
      Empl empl = (Empl) listEmpl.get(x);
      System.out.println(empl.getFname());
      System.out.println(empl.getId());
}my question is how could I do that with logic:iterate? and what should come in the ActionForm? is it:

private void setEmplList(List list) ???

How to realize them with Java Swing?

1.I want to realize the function - Save, which is similar with "save" in windows notepad - after clicking "save", a dialog box is poped up, then i can input the filename and save it. Is there any ready class like JFileChooser in Java Swing?
2.I want to set Font and color in the text area. I can do it now. But I must set the font and color b4 input the words. How can I do it like Windows Word - I just input my words, then I highlight them and select the font and colour....all highlighted words r change....can I don it with Java swing and how?

Thanks..I am currently working this, try the ElementIterator w/ the Document that your inputing, as you iterate throught the nodes, you modify the attribute sets there.

Close Tooltip with Click-outside

I need a feature which allows me to close the tooltip with a click outside the tooltip (trigger & target).
Am I overlooking something or is this really missing? (I don't want to do mousover and mouseout, the target needs to stay because it has furhter functionality inside the target; but with a click outside it needs to be able to be closed again).
Any ideas? Will this feature be added soon?

The drawback is that if you have multiple triggers, you have to click twice, one for exit the light bot and another one to trigger the trigger! This isn't very good as user experience...

There is no need to download anything to solve this problem.
You may have installed one of the common types of ad-injection malware. Follow the instructions on this Apple Support page to remove it.
Back up all data before making any changes.
One of the steps in the article is to remove malicious Safari extensions. Do the equivalent in the Chrome and Firefox browsers, if you use either of those. If Safari crashes on launch, skip that step and come back to it after you've done everything else.
If you don't find any of the files or extensions listed, or if removing them doesn't stop the ad injection, ask for further instructions.

Thank you for that link. I bought two tutorial programs for Iphone 4 and that's where I saw that it was adviced to close Safari and other Apps entirely as they were running in the background and in doing so were wearing down on the battery.
As far as I understand the link you went me Safari and other Apps are kind of closed once I have clicked the Home button so that should be OK.
However, when I opened a radio program it did not seem to be possible for me to close it down even though I was using the Home button. The music kept playing which of course many times would be great however I would like to know how to close a program when I do not want to use it any more.

Double-tap on the Home button. You will see a preview of the app above the actual icon. Slide the preview up to kill it.
