Safari 5.1 does not work, while other browsers do

Hi all,
My Safari 5.1 browser does not seem to work. It opens, loads for 1/4 and stays there. Not a single page can be opened, even after amtoying the cache.
Other browsers, such as Chrome and Firefox have no trouble funcioning as well. What might be a solution?

The Spotlight menu, the little magnifying glass in the upper right corner when clicked will reveal a search field, and if it is indexing, it will tell you. Otherwise all you see is a search field, and sometimes results. Indexing is what allows it to know every word in every file on the hard drive, and what to search for. Safari, being an integral part of the operating system, uses some of the indexed values from Spotlight for its operation. If that index is corrupted, it might need to be reindexed to function. If you use any tools that clean system cache that can also affect Safari and other Apple applications. Those tools should only be used for troubleshooting a backed up system. So the first thing we have to discover is, is your data backed up? Because then we can suggest methods for detecting what caused corruption. Obviously you have enough disk space.

Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

Cancel button functionality does not work--- while searching for G/l Acc

This is regarding an issue faced by the end user.
For information my client is on WAS 6.4 Patch Level 155, SRM 4.0, EBP 5.0, SRM Server 5.0.
In account assignment details..while searching for G/l account for the Account Assignment used at the time of creation of the shopping cart, if no G/l account is found, the Cancel button functionality provided, does not work, however when
G/l account(s) is/are found, then the Cancel button functionality
works properly.

I will try to summarise my knowledge of the JAVA persistence API as the documentation is not always clear and may be misleading.
In SQL you have 4 main statements: INSERT, SELECT, UPDATE and DELETE.
with
@PersistenceContext
private EntityManager em;some documentation appears to make the following associations:
em.persist(Object entity) -> INSERT
em.find(Class entityClass, Object primaryKey) -> SELECT
em.merge(Object entity) -> UPDATE
em.remove(Object entity) -> REMOVE
However, practice shows that this is NOT the case!
em.merge(Object entity) does exactly the same thing as em.find(Class entityClass, Object primaryKey)! The only difference is that the em.merge(Object entity) method takes a detached object of the entity class as argument with the same primary key as the attached object you are loading.
Detached objects are objects of the entity class the database manager is not aware of. Attached objects are objects in the database and are managed by the persistence context. Every newly created object of an entity class is detached. You can attach them to the database with the em.persist(Object entity) method call. Attached objects can be retrieved with the em.find(Class entityClass, Object primaryKey) or with the em.merge(Object entity) method. All changes made to attached objects are automatically stored in the database. There thus is no explicit method for the UPDATE statement. You just make changes to attached objects and the entity manager copies the changes to the database (at the end of the persistence context). An easy way to make all the changes you need at once is to have a detached object that contains the right values and then copy all these values to the associated attached object with a self defined copy method in the entity class as in

Without session beans, you have to declare explicitely the start and end of a persistence context or transaction, but I refer to existing documentation for this, as I do not actively know how to handle things without session beans.
Finally, the methods em.persist(Object entity) and em.merge(Object entity) use a detached object as argument, while em.remove(Object entity) uses an attached object as argument (using a detached object results in an Exception thrown).
I hope this makes some things clear

Safari and mail is not working on my new iPad with iOS 5.1.1, tried every trick in the book but to no avail. Please suggest in case I want to update my ios5.1.1 as I fear that it might have corrupted somehow, what's the way to do it. I don't want to upgrade to higher iOS versions. Thanks

Close Safari and Mail app on the Task Bar and re-launch.
1. Double-click the Home button to reveal Task Bar
2. Hold Safari and Mail app down for a second or two until you see the minus sign
3. Tap the minus sign to close app
4. Tap area above Task Bar to return to Home screen

Safari 7.1 does not work since installing OS 10.9.5

Might be a cookies, cache, or extensions issue ..
From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Privacy tab.
Click: Remove All Website Data
Then delete the cache.
Open a Finder window. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy paste the following
~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db
Click Go then move the Cache.db file to the Trash.
Quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that didn't help, troubleshoot Safari extensions.
From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab. Turn that OFF, quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that helped, turn one extension on then quit and relaunch Safari to test until you find the incompatible extension then click uninstall.

Safari 8 hover does not work over google map location pins

I have always had little odd things not work when using safari on a large % of websites I visit, the latest issues are
no response when hovering over google map location pins, travel site calendars not opening or responding to mouse, drag and drop
show the item being dragged several inches away from the actual pointer, some links don't respond, missing items
or odd layout with print or pop ups going off the screen on some website pages, zooming in and out does not help. I have none
of these issues when using Firefox or Chrome. Been using Safari for 4 years now.

Have you tried a PRAM and an SMC reset? They're longshots, but don't take long to try.

Have you run Apple Diagnostics from the disc(s) that shipped with the computer?
Since the problem occurs in all browsers, it still sounds like a video hardware or video RAM or maybe a software issue having to do with layers and rendering.
The map layers aren't getting rendered, or if rendered, aren't getting displayed.
Do you have any browser add-ins? Pop-up blockers?
Since you have two video chipsets, it's possible that might be related to the issue.
This non-Apple website talks about switching between chipsets on the various MacBook models so equipped, and points to a free 'donationware' program for the menubar that lets you easily switch between chipsets:

Trying to think of other software that might help pinpoint the problem, does the iPhoto Slideshow 'Shatter' template work? Working properly, it 'shatters' images into several color layers and rotates them in and out to build and deconstruct photos.

Safari 6.2 does NOT work in Mountain Lion; huge issues

Also my purpose is to WARN people NOT to upgrade to 6.2!!!
15" mid-2013 MBPr running 10.8.5. Upgraded to Safari 6.2 today and regret it mightily (this is why I rarely upgrade until FORCED). Immediately, could not open most of my Google docs or Gmail. Kept getting this dialog:
"This error has been reported to Google and we'll look into it as soon as possible. Please reload your page to continue."
But I couldn't reload--the error kept continuing. Endless loop of click Ok and it comes back. Plus, got colored spinning beach ball hangs on MANY other sites (including ironically Apple site to go to support forums). and every 3 seconds "webpages have stopped
NONE OF THIS was going on with the same tabs opened in 6.1.x or whatever it was before that. It was slow, but otherwise worked.
I tried to use Time Machine to go back to my last Safari app and of course got the message that Safari is necessary system software and could not be replace.
After trying to get through to tech support twice and getting disconnected (???) I got someone who told me it would NOT be possible in any way to downgrade to previous version of Safari.
I was further informed that "we cannot test new versions of browsers to work with all apps and be sure their functionality is not broken." I said "I would think Google, though, might be kind of a priority as one you would test." it's not like it's an OSCURE APP.
I was also told to upgrade to Mavericks so i could just use safari 7.1. I do NOT want to upgrade to Mavericks for very specific reasons (not the least of which, besides this situation which happens all too frequently, is that there are other things that are broken in Mavericks as i can see on my 13" retina Macbook, particularly with Apple Mail, which I find very annoying, and other functionalities and interface things that I find less friendly in Mavericks). I have one Mavericks machine and I want one Mountain Lion machine. Period. This should be OK.
I asked for a supervisor when the guy suggested i simply use a different browser like Firefox or Chrome. Are you KIDDING me? That's your answer?
I use Chrome and Safari each for specific work things and Firefox for all personal. THat is how I organize my stuff. I edit Google docs related to one client's work in Safari. THat is where my permissions are to access those docs.
I said that any released version Safari should work with major, hugely popular business apps and I should not have to SWITCH AWAY FROM SAFARi. If you are suggesting i NOT USE SAFARI, then it shouldn't be released. Period.
The supervisor told me that I could downgrade only by downgrading my whole system. Only way. (I later realized after I hung up--unless you can tell me otherwise--that means restoring my whole hard drive, NOT just my system,? Like FULL Time Machine restore of everything. If I could do JUST he system, I'd do it.)
He also said that it was "possible I could get Safari 6.2 working with Google docs" IF I "played around with settings and preferences in Safari."
Um. I said, prompting him, ahem…since I called in for support, perhaps you could work with me to give me some ideas of what those settings or changes might be, rather than have me "randomly play with" it?
He reluctantly did so, screen sharing with me, had me do all the things I;d already tried (restring Safari, restarting computer, etc), closing and opening those docs. He saw the error message through screen sharing. he could not explain it. We played around with opening the docs from Drive or email instead of from the bookmarked tabs.
Sometime into the call, it stopped doing it. We never knew why. So he thought we'd solved it (even though no explanation for why it had been, never identified a consistent source). He said "well, so Safari 6,2 DOES work." But after we hung up, it started doing it again. Mainly with Google (error message) but also with other sites (beach ball hangs). I will not bother calling back. I guess I either cant use Safari or need to restore my whole system to get old one back (again, I don't want to go to Mavericks on this machine).
Anyone got ideas?
What i find more concerning than the thing not working (which isn't insignificant ) is the lack of care and lack of knowledge that is now consistently apparent when I call for help, compared to how consistently awesome it used to be.
Sad.
I would appreciate any insights anyone has gleaned re this issue. And again I caution against 6.2.   My machine works great otherwise, Safari worked fien before the upgrade, and NO, i DO NOT have any anti-virus software!

and whatever is going on, it wasnt in Safari 6.1 with very same system. But sure--if something unneeded is causing problem with 6.2, I'd be delighted to dump it.

Inbound Delivery quantity tolerance does not work while receiving goodsLM01

Please help me in filding solution to the below issue.
A PO created with 100 quantity having tolerance limit of 25 %. A corresponding inbound delivery document created
against the PO for 110 quantity. Now user wants to receiving the actual quantity i.e 120. While receiving system throws an error
"Maximum open quantity 110 can be packed". I provided a solution that the user need to change the delivery quantity from 110 to 120 and than do the GR using LM01. User does not agree to do it as the inbound delivery document created automatically through
SNC system. User want to make it automation like the inbound delivery document tolerance % should work for the difference quantity between inbound delivery quantity and actual goods receipt quantity.

LM01 is a dynamic screen which is easily configurable with simple logic and coding. I'm not sure whether any standard configuration to activate the message for LM01.
But how it works for us. We've defined the messages for tolerance "Entered Quantity 1200 Plus previous received
quantity 0 is greater than over delivery tolerance 3.0% " in message class. And system pulls all the messages related to LM01 from this message class. Check with your developer how your LM01 is customized. They can help you.

FF will not start up. FF does not work on other user accounts on this machine either, but works ok on another pc on our home network. Thanks for any help you can offer.

Computer is an HP Envy 17 laptop. Firefox does not appear on Task Manager list of processes or applications. System restore did not fix problem. Google Chrome works ok. Internet Explorer works ok until I try to download Firefox. Then it too crashes. This pc has been running Firefox fine since I purchased it 10 months ago. I upgraded FF3 to 4 then to 5 with no problems. Suddenly yesterday it stopped working. There is no error message and evidently FF does not launch because there is no listing of Firefox in Task Manager processes or applications. I tried uninstalling Firefox, then tried to download it usingInternet Explorer, but when I click on the download button at the Mozilla site, Internet Explorer crashes. I did a system restore to 8/16/11 when Firefox was still working. This restored the program but it still does not run. Google Chrome seems to run fine. My internet access is via wifi through an Actiontec router and Verizon Fios. I am running Symantec Endpoint virus protection and do not have any Norton or Skype programs listed in Control Panel. My pc is set for automatic updates from Microsoft and from HP. They both say my software is up to date. Is there a fix for this problem or is it a sinister plot by Microsoft to force us to use Internet Explorer?

i have the latest itunes version and have it reinstalled again and again.
the otions i get when highlight and right click on a song in the music section in itunes are:
get info
rating
shoe in windows explorer
reset play count
reset skip count
convert selection for ipod
convert selection for apple tv
uncheck selection
mark as not new
add to playlist
show in playlist
copy
get album artwork
apply sort field
so there is no clear nor delete!
how on earth can i get my list smaller????
i am starting to think about all those lovely windows mp3 players.

no idea what happened here but for a moment i was actually able to delete songs from my playlist which caused me to loose a few songs. i then closed everything off and restarted and now it appears to work. the strange thing is i haven't changed a thing. however i will closely monitor this and if it stays like this i have no further reason to get my fingers in a twist. as i said a mystery to me, anyhow thanks to all who were involved trying to help.
