  • HT1222 I have the last generation iPad 4 and seem to not update software iOS 7 it says can't install coz I'm no longer connected to the Internet when I see I clearly am connected to the Internet what does that mean

    HELP

Exactly how are you trying to update? OTA (over the air) via the device? If so, instead try to update by connecting the device to your syncing PC with the latest version of iTunes installed.

  • Safari no longer connects to the internet

I upgraded to OS Yosemite in my iMac (must be approaching 4 years old) and everything has been working fine.  Had a couple of applications where they closed unexpectedly, but nothing major and things have continued as they always have.  Apps have also automatically updated.   As of today, Safari will no longer connect to the internet and I keep getting the classic "the server unexpectedly dropped the connection" blurb and I kept being told that a disk that I hadn't put in the machine is not being recognized.
I'm typing this on my MacBook Air so I know that Safari can work fine (also having no problem with my iPad or iPhone) and there is no issue with my ISP' modem (I'm with Virgin Media), connector or Netgear wireless router.  Tonight I have performed a recovery install and now I have this annoying message saying how I need a particular Java plugin, which I can't sort out because Safari can't connect to the internet.  I have also performed a router reset, without remedy.
Logically, as I see it, the issue lies with Safari, and due to it being the only internet access on my iMac, I can't even download Firefox or access the App Store so looks like I can't update.  A friend is also having the same issues with his iPad, so I know this isn't just my iMac
Looking for some answers here?  Anyone?
    Thanks

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this behavior; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Please take this step regardless of the results of Step 1.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of Steps 1 and 2.

    Hi Blueandpink,
If you are running iOS 4, you will need to update the iPad via iTunes on your computer (can't do OTA updates unless you have iOS 5 or higher).
If you have a first generation iPad, unfortunately you won't be able to update to iOS 6 (iOS 5 is the highest you can update to on the original iPad).
If you are on an iPad 2, 3, or 4th generation with iOS 5 and it still isn't working, try holding  down on both the Sleep AND Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds (ignore the red slider button). Keep holding it until the Apple Logo appears. When you see the Apple logo on the black screen, let go of the buttons. This “reset” fixes a lot of iPad issues and might work to resolve the update issue. Try updating again.
    Hope this helps!

hie there Actually um trying to update new iOS 7 for my iphone 4 but when i press the button to install new software suddenly it appears why " iOs 7 failed verification because you are no longer connected to the internet " even my phone is already connected to net

I tried powering down and re-starting the iPhone (as suggested at http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1275). This seems to have cleared the "...not connected to the Internet" problem, and iOS 6.1 is now in the process of downloading.
Thanks very much for your feedback.

  • My safari doesn't work sometimes, but I connect with the internet.

my safari doesn't work sometimes, but I connect with the internet. Some of the videos I can't see with the Safari browser, but I can see it with other brower. But my friend can see these videos with her safari. And I can not connect with the app store sometimes.

Before you try to configure the settings on your Router, first thing which you need to do is, Press and hold the reset button for 60 seconds...Release the reset button...Unplug the power cable from your router, wait for 60 seconds and re-connect the power cable...
Connect the Modem to the Linksys Router on the Internet Port and then connect your computer to the Linksys router on the LAN Port 1. On your Computer click on Start - Run - CMD and click Ok... Now in the Command Prompt window type "ipconfig" and hit enter and note down the "IP address, Subnet Mask and Default Gateway" , Now again in the Command Prompt window type "ping default gateway IP" and hit enter and check if you are getting any replies, If yes then you can login to the setup page of the configure all the settings on it from scratch.

  • My ipad will no longer connect to the internet. Everything else does.

My ipad 1 will no longer connect to the internet. Everything else does. and nothing new was done to the ipad. It's running ios 4 and was fine since the day it came out.

    Emma-
In Safari, press on the Bookmarks icon and select History.  Then press on Clear History at the top of that menu, and see it there is any improvement.
If not, try unplugging your WiFi router for a few seconds.  Then reset the iPad's network.  Go to Settings-General-Reset-Reset Network Settings.  You will need to reconnect the iPad to WiFi.

  • Thinkpad Twist s230u: Can no Longer Connect to the Internet

    Hello,
Several days ago my Lenovo Thinkpad Twist suddenly stopped connecting to the internet. I was at the cafe using my phone hotspot and everything was fine, but then when I got back home, it could not detect any wireless networks in my house. I thought it may have just been my wi-fi but my phone could connect to the wi-fi just fine. I tried plugging in my phone again for personal hotpot and it could detect my phone, but no longer connect to the internet (it'd say that it's connected, but no pages would load). I tried rebooting my computer, but the wireless networks still could not be found and my phone's hotspot could no longer help it connect to the internet. I tried a Malwarebytes Scan but that didn't detect anything, and my McAfee virus scanner is not gonna help me find anymore viruses (long story as to why I don't have a better virus protection).
Can't really install any updates since I can't connect to the internet at all...rebooted several times to no avail...
Any sort of help or ideas would be greatly appreciated! Thank you so much!
    Sincerely,
    Ingrid

I just started to have similar problem. I cannot connect to interent via ethernet or wifi. Both connections show I am connected, but cannot acces any web pages. It is like it is not connected. I would like to know how to restore back to when I bought it, 12/20/13, and then re-load the Windows 8 pro that is somewhere on the partition HD. Any help out there?????? All my other devices/laptops/computers work fine on the internet.

  • "No longer connected to the Internet" until router restarted

I've been running a G4 Quicksilver with OSX Tiger on a BT Internet Home Hub router for some time now, years in fact, with no trouble. I also run a Windows PC from the same router using Ethernet connection for both.
Yesterday I disconnected the ethernet cable from the Mac to update a child's laptop and when I plugged it back in again I got the message "your computer is no longer connected to the Internet". I ran network diagnostics to find the router was apparently not working, but built-in ethernet was, and restarted the router as requested. The connection ran perfectly all evening but this morning on restart - same message. The PC is running perfectly, hence this message can be posted.
I reloaded the BT software from the installation disc and got a good connection, but the first time the Mac went to sleep, I had lost it again. The connection seems to be lost everytime the Mac is restarted or goes to sleep, but if I manually reset the router I get a "connection successful" message. Last time I got the message I ran Network Diagnostics and was given a choice of locations: automatic or BTHomeHub. On BT all indicators were red; on automatic it is green as far as network settings and ISP, but red for Internet or Server. My net connection is broadband, 512k max and the PC connects and runs perfectly. I don't understand why the Mac has suddenly changed and why it won't connect.
I've just changed the location to BTHomeHub and got green lights on all but Internet - even the server light is green, but it says internet (failed).
    I'm lost, can anyone help???

    Thanks Henry, just tried that.
When I try to access the Internet I get the page header, but the page itself no longer loads - eventually I'll get the "not connected " message.
If I run Network from system preferences it tells me I am connected and gives my IP address.
If I move to the "ethernet" column on Network Diagnostics the network status lights are green for built-in ethernet, network settings and ISP - but red for Internet and server. The message now states "your internet connection appears to be working perfectly"
It can't be the internet as here I am posting on my PC, so it must be the Mac, but I don't understand how I can be connected to my ISP, but not the Internet....

  • HT4623 update to ios 6.1.1 failed verification because you are no longer connected to the internet, when I am connected to my Wifi. Do I need to adjust some settings?

Update to IOS 6.1.1 failed verification because you are no longer connected to the Internet when using home Wifi and verifing connectivity by using Safari to surf net and viewing wifi setting. Do setting need to be adjusted?

This is what worked for me: Double tap your home button to bring up the programs running in the back ground, press and hold so they show the red close option and close all programs.  After that shut your iphone down and power back on.  Immediately go to General>Software Update and it should work.  Good Luck

  • My Mac Book Pro suddenly will no longer connect to the Internet at my house. Help?

My Mac Book Pro suddenly will no longer connect to the Internet at my house. My son's MacBook connects just fine. My MacPro connects at work, at Starbucks, etc. just fine, but not at my house. My son's however has no problem whatsoever. I assume that since his computer connects that the router and modem is not the problem. And since my computer connects everywhere but here . . . . it is not a hardware issue. When directly connecting my MacBook Pro to the modem or router the problem was the same. . . no connection. Help?

    From the menu bar, select
               ▹ About This Mac
Below the "OS X" legend in the window that opens, the OS version appears. Click the version line twice to display the serial number. If the number is missing or invalid according to this web form, take the machine to an Apple Store or other authorized service center to have the problem corrected.

Did this [[Cannot connect after upgrading Firefox|start after upgrading firefox?]]
Generally if Firefox can't connect, but other applications can, it's a configuration problem with a [[Firewalls|software firewall]], either one you installed yourself, one that was included with other security software, or the built-in Windows Firewall.
