Safari 5.1 is not compatible with my SuisseID

After updating Safari my SuisseID doesn't work with Safari 5.1. The Login crashes Safari.
I thin it comes withe the awful plugin / extension upgrade.
Why can't both concepts live together a while till all software providers got a chance ?
I'm very angry and upset about Apple so far.

Just so you are aware, Apple is not repsonsible for updating third party Safari add ons. It's up to the developer to do that. Visit the SuisseID site. Perhaps you can find a contact link to ask if they plan on updating their software for Safari 5.1 compability.

This is an "old" problem since Safari for Windows was initially released. In the meantime, the problem is still not fixed in the latest version 4.0.3 (531.9.1).
Not only Safari (for Windows) does not properly show homepages that contain Unicode 3.1 CJK characters, but it also fails to show Unicode 3.1 CJK characters (it shows "squares" instead) in the whole application, such as Search box and all dialog boxes. Will this be fixed in the next release?
By the way, it is strange that Safari 4 for Mac is Unicode 3.1 compatible.

To speak more precisely, the Safari for Windows doesn't support CJK characters of Unicode CJK Unified Ideographs Extension B.

Safari 5.0.6 not compatible with the LOOP

My homepage is Sympatico which has now upgraded to the LOOP. Everytime I go to my hompeage it tells me my browser is not supported. I am running MAC OSX 10.5.8 with Safari 5.0.6.
The LOOP says that I must be at Safari 5.1.
Is this as simple as upgrading Safari and what issues might I have if I did this? I would rather change my home page than get myself into a week of issues becuase I tried to upgrade.

1) What is the most logical thing to do?
2) What ramifications might I have by doing it?
I should upgrade Mac OSX 10.5.8 to what Mac OSX ? Am I limited to what I can upgrade to?
I should upgrade SAfari 5.0.6 to 5.1 or to somethnig more current?
Would upgrading browser or OS be recommended or simply change homepage because the pitfalls of upgrading are too great?

Hello I just got the 5.1.7 version of safari and also updated the flash player to the latest version, and all the time I get the safari freezing randomly in the web pages, I solved the issue by trashing the plug-in from the library, but of course I can't open the web pages that require it... Sounds like there may still be an old Flash version installed.
Follow the instructions for uninstaling the current copy of Flash then reinstalling here > Troubleshoot Flash Player | Mac OS
Then restart Safari.
From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Empty Cache
Try a video.
BTW... if you have the ClickToFlash extension installed, that can prevent Flash based video from streaming. It can also be installed as a plugin in /Library/Internet-Plug-Ins.
And check to see if Safari is running in 32 bit mode. Right or control click the Safari icon in your Applications folder then click Get Info. If the box next to: Open in 32 bit mode is selected, deselect, quit then relaunch Safari.
If you still have problems with sites that stream Flash content, from your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences > Extensions. If you have any installed, turn that OFF, quit then relaunch Safari to test.

I have installed Firefox4 to find it is not compatible with my version of OSX how do I get version 3.6 back or do I just give up and use Safari?

I downloaded Version 4 and installed it. At no point did it say that it was not compatible with the version of OS X that I am running (10.4.11) now that it is installed it will not open but it has already up graded from 3.6 so I have lost the lot. How can I download a version of 3.6 so that I can use it again or should I just pack up and use Safari as all I can get from your site is version 4. HELP!!!

You need to contact "epost." The issue is not an Apple issue....the epost software needs, I assume, to be updated.

I cannot download a URLLink.acsm file with Safari 5.0.3, even after creating a com.apple.DownloadAssessment.plist file and adding "acsm" under "LSRiskCategoryExtensions" as suggested in the release notes for ADE 1.7.2 (Dated February 2010)

I have to locate the file in "Download" folder download with FireFox while online and double-click it to open it with ADE 1.7.2.
In contrast, FireFox 3.6.13 installed on the same Mac (MacBook early 2009, MacOS 10.5.8) can download the a URLLink.acsm file without any trouble and prompts me to open it with ADE.
The system requirements for ADE 1.7.2 states that it supports the following browsers and Adobe Flash Versions on Mac:
Apple Safari 4, Mozilla Firefox 3
Adobe Flash® Player 9 or 10
Does my trouble mean that ADE 1.7.2 released February 2010 is not compatible with Safari 5 released in June 2010?

Facebook videos are still working for me in the Facebook App (using iOS 7.0.6).
Have you tried restarting or resetting your iPad?
Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after It shuts down, press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10 seconds).
No data will be lost.

Do a clean reinstall and download a fresh Firefox copy from http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html and save the file to the desktop.
Uninstall your current Firefox version and remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer.
It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
You can skip the step to create a new profile, that is not necessary for this issue.

Not possible. You need to update to v10.6.8
Click your Apple menu > Software Update
Or update using the this download > Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo

If the site has been optimised for IE (which is non-standards compliant), the best you can try is to spoof IE from Safari.
I'm using an earlier version of Safari than you, so I hope Allan or someone will correct me if the procedure is different.
First, go to Safari Preferences and enable the developer menu;
Then go to the menu and select User Agent - choose a flavour of IE.
Works about 50% of the time.
It won't work if the site is using Activex controls.

Disk Warrior not compatible with OS 10.4.6?

I purchased DiskWarrior (version 3.03) last year and used it once on my old 1.6 GHz iMac with OS 10.3.6.
I now have a 2.1 GHz non-Intel iSight iMac with Mac OS 10.4.6.
I have tried twice to start up from the DiskWarrior CD - the first time, I never got beyond the grey apple and very loud fans whirring; the second time, I got another grey icon (sort of like a traffic sign - a circle with a line through it) along with the spinning wheel. Both times I gave up after 30 minutes and turned the iMac off with the power button.
This is a bit expensive for a one time use. It seems that DiskWarrior is not compatible with OS 10.4.6 and/or the iSight iMac? I checked the Alsoft website - v. 3.03 is the latest version available.

Wow! I think that you will either need to wait until your external drive is free to be erased, or to buy another external drive to be able to do everything you want all at once.
Once you have a free drive, divide it into two partitions, including one that is only about 5GB. Install a bare system using your iMac's Install & Restore Disc 1 onto this small partition. Customize your installation by choosing not to install printer drivers, languages, iLife applications, extra fonts or X11. This installation will be a little over 2GB.
When you first visit this system's Desktop, go to Software Update and install only the 10.4.6 Combined Update, any Java updates and possibly QuickTime 7.0.4. Reboot and repair permissions. Remove everything from the Dock but Safari and System Preferences. Drag Disk Utility into the Dock from your Applications/Utilities/ folder.
Launch Safari, go to shirtpocket.com and download and install the cloning utility, SuperDuper! Drag SuperDuper!'s icon from your Utilities folder to the Dock. Register it if you want the added features, or use the unregistered version to make your clones fresh each time.
Next, insert the Disk Warrior disc (any version of Disk Warrior 3.0.3 will do here) and drag DW to your /Applications/Utilities/ folder. Drag Disk Warrior's icon in your Utilities folder to the Dock.
Now you need only boot into your small maintenance partition to launch Disk Warrior so you can run it on your iMac and/or the clone that is on the external's larger partition. And of course, you'll clone your iMac to the larger partition on your external drive by booting into the smaller partition and running SuperDuper! from there.
Simple!
