Safari 5 deleted my extensions?!?

I'm loving Safari 5 and especially extensions, but I quit Safari this morning and re-opened it and found that all of my extensions have been deleted. They don't appear in preferences at all.
Any ideas?
Thanks

The same thing happened to me. However, this happened only once. Strangely, the extensions are still in ~/Library/Safari/Extensions. Just double click on the extension and it will load again. I only had to do this once. Since then everything with extensions has been fine.
I have been having a good time with Safari 5, and extensions are a large part of the reason I have been using it for the last two days instead of Firefox (which I had been using for years). I have seen some strange behavior though, and can't quite really reproduce any of it. Strange. Adblock, while installed, wasn't working for a little while, now it seems to work fine. Weird.

hi guys I deleted my extension"bitdefender antivirus"but when I switch on my mac safari open up itself asking to instal the extension above what can I do to avoid this pain in the behind? Thanks

Uninstall "BitDefender" completely, not just the Safari extension.
Any third-party software that doesn't install by drag-and-drop into the Applications folder, and uninstall by drag-and-drop to the Trash, is a system modification.
Whenever you remove system modifications, they must be removed completely, and the only way to do that is to use the uninstallation tool, if any, provided by the developers, or to follow their instructions. If the software has been incompletely removed, you may have to re-download or even reinstall it in order to finish the job.
I never install system modifications myself, and I don't know how to uninstall them. You'll have to do your own research to find that information.
Here are some general guidelines to get you started. Suppose you want to remove something called “BrickMyMac” (a hypothetical example.) First, consult the product's Help menu, if there is one, for instructions. Finding none there, look on the developer's website, say www.brickmymac.com. (That may not be the actual name of the site; if necessary, search the Web for the product name.) If you don’t find anything on the website or in your search, contact the developer. While you're waiting for a response, download BrickMyMac.dmg and open it. There may be an application in there such as “Uninstall BrickMyMac.” If not, open “BrickMyMac.pkg” and look for an Uninstall button.
Back up all data before making any changes.
You will generally have to reboot in order to complete an uninstallation. Until you do that, the uninstallation may have no effect, or unpredictable effects.
If you can’t remove software in any other way, you’ll have to erase and install OS X. Never install any third-party software unless you're sure you know how to uninstall it; otherwise you may create problems that are very hard to solve.
WARNING: Trying to remove complex system modifications by hunting for files by name often will not work and may make the problem worse. The same goes for "utilities" such as "AppCleaner" and the like that purport to remove software.

  • How to get the; popular tag: back in safari. Deleted it.

How to get the POPULAR tab back in safari after deleting it. Thanks for the help.

You have to pass a parameter. An id is good.
Of course you have to get an id from somewhere in the result set right?
    <a target="_top" rel="contents" rev="contents" class="fordynamiclabel" href="ASCMasterTwo.jsp?id=<%= rSet.getString("id") %>"><%=rSet.getString(1) %></a></td>Then you call
    request.getParameter("id");
and look up the values related to that id in the database.

  • Why is safari 7 deleting my bookmarked websites?

why is safari 7 deleting my bookmarked websites? I keep adding them in and they go to my favorites bar, but once the window closes, more often than not the bookmark is gone from the favorites bar.

Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    ~/Library/Safari/Bookmarks.plist
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
Services ▹ Show Info in Finder (or just Show Info)
from the contextual menu.* An Info dialog should open.
Does the dialog show "You can read and write" in the Sharing & Permissions section?
In the General section, is the box labeled Locked checked?
    What is the Modified date?
If you don't have read and write access to the item, change the settings as directed here. Note, however, that if one file has wrong access settings, most likely others do as well. If the item is locked, unlock it.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Open a TextEdit window and paste into it (command-V). Select the line you just pasted and continue as above.

  • Safari is deleting all my bookmarks once a week

    I really dont understand this:
Approx. once a week when I launch Safari ALL my bookmarks are gone...
The Bookmarks.plist is located in ~/Library/Safari only all my bookmarks are mysteriously gone....
I have tried resetting Safari and deleting the preferences...
Anyone with ideas are more than welcome
PS - On this MacBook I've done an upgrade to Leopard rather than a clean install... Wish I hadn't upgrading instead of clean installing is just about the most stupid thing one can do....

    The actual bookmarks folder is:
    user/Library/Caches/Metadata/Safari/Bookmarks
Your history is in the same Safari folder.
I know my history is cleared out every week or so, but never my bookmarks.
If something is clearing out your caches you might find other data missing.
Be sure you don't have the synchronize with other computers via .mac checked.
Until you find the problem, make a copy of the bookmark folder and keep it safe.

  • Error during deletion of extension(with error) in EEWB

    Hi,
    1. We have added some fields in transaction BP through EEWB.All fields are added successfully.
    2.  After successfully adding the fields in BP , there was some requirement to add new fields. So , I have used the same extension to add new field . But system is not allowing me to change the extension and giving out the message
"You are not authorized to delete template BUCI_FLDCHK".
    3.  Even system is not allwoing me to delete the extension and giving out the same message("You are not authorized to delete template BUCI_FLDCHK along with the new message "You cant delete that extension").
Please note that after I have made an attement to delete the extension all the custome fields from the BP(GUI screen) has been removed , but extension was not deleted and the task under extension is also showing a different icon that basicaly tells us "Processed with error" , Please refer the screen shot.As an impact of deletion of extension , BUT000 table still holds the include structure and the custom fields that were already removed from the BP transacton.
    4. Please help me to delete the extension.I believe that after successful deletion of extension all custom fields from BUT000 should be removed automatically. Please correct me if I am wrong.
    Looking forward for your help.
    Thanks,
    Hem

    Hi,
Refer note 1068113. This will surely help you.
You need to set some deletion flag in table GOX_TR_OBJECTS.

Any thoughts on the  cause of this?

  • Hello  how to remove Ads by CouponDropDown on safari with mavericks like extensions remains empty  thank you

    hello
how to remove Ads by CouponDropDown on safari with mavericks like extensions remains empty
    thank you

Since I do not use Safari, I had no idea that was an extension, but that person should not be calling that a virus as that is a bit over the top; besides, I have extensions turned on precisely because I want Adblock and WOT to run.
If that is an extension, then it was installed and can be uninstalled which would appear to be a good way to handle it.
    @bragon18:
I'm on my Mountain Lion machine and I do have extensions showing on the left:
(can't check on my Mavericks machine at the moment).

  • Safari auto-deletes all cookies

So periodically, every few days, Safari automatically deletes all my cookies. I don't want it to do this but I can't find a way to make it stop. It didn't use to happen, it seems to have started happening after an update, so is this normal, was this put in as a security feature, or is some problem afoot?

Since the last raft of updates, I have a problem where all sites I am usually always logged in with are logged out and the username and password no longer fill themselves in, until I re-enter them, and then it will work normally for a few days and then they all get lost again. In Safari Preferences, all cookies are still present, and are forms autofill URLs and keychain shows the site passwords too. Is this what you have?

  • Somehow Safari was deleted from my i-Pad how do I re-download the software to the I-Pad?

Safari was deleted from my I-Pad and where and how do I find this software to download to the pad?

Safari was not deleted. Not possible to delete any of the apps included with the firmware/iOS.
None of the included apps are available as a separate download since there is no reason for it.
You have Safari enabled as a Restriction, or the app has been moved within another folder or home page.

  • I have a problem with manually uninstalling IDM CC 6.9.8 extension for Mozilla. How can I "MANUALLY" delete this extension?

I have installed Internet Download Manager on my laptop and it subsequently, was integrated with Mozilla Firefox, but now cannot transfer download files on the Net to Internet Download Manager main panel. What can I do to manually delete this extension to reinstall it again?

Go to %appdata%\IDM\ and delete the "idmmzcc3" folder. You need to have firefox closed, or unlock the files with unlocker if firefox is running to delete it

  • In Safari 8.0.2 extension window is blank

When opening Safari prefs and opening the extension tab, the window is blank except for 'get extensions'.
When I want to install extensions I get the message: first switch on extensions. But how? The button is not there (anymore) !

Uninstall "SIMBL" or "EasySIMBL" as follows. Back up all data before making any changes.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it, then copy the text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:
    /Library
    In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V, then press return. A folder will open. From that folder, delete the items listed below (some may be absent.) You may be prompted for your administrator login password.
              Application Support/SIMBL
              InputManagers/SIMBL
              LaunchAgents/net.culater.SIMBL.Agent.plist
              LaunchAgents/net.infinite-labs.SIMBLEnablerForSandboxedApps.plist
              ScriptingAdditions/EasySIMBL.osax
              ScriptingAdditions/SIMBL.osax
Log out and log back in. There may also be an item named "EasySIMBL" in the Applications folder. Delete it, if so.
Make sure you never reinstall any variant of SIMBL. It’s likely to come bundled with another third-party system modfication that depends on it. If you want trouble-free computing, avoid software that makes miraculous changes to other software, especially built-in applications. The only real exception to that rule is Safari extensions, which are mostly safe, and are easy to get rid of when they don’t work. SIMBL and its dependents are not Safari extensions.

  • Safari has deleted all my saved passwords, and not saving any I ask!

    Pretty self explanatory...
But just today, Safari seems to have completely wiped all my saved passwords, and I had a lot saved. The pop up box saying 'Do you want to save this password?' is still coming up when I log into an account somewhere, and even if I select yes, it doesn't save.
This is rather annoying, considering I'm setting up a forum, and have to be constantly logging in and out of everyone's account, in an attempt to transfer posts.
Could someone help? Would be really grateful!
    Tom
    Edit: I'm using Safari 7.0.3

    1. Delete Safari .plist file.
         Quit all applications.
Option click the "Go" menu in the Finder menu bar.
Select "Library" from the drop down.
         Library > Preferences >  com.apple.Safari.plist
Right click on it and select "Move To Trash".
         Restart. Relaunch Safari.
    2. Turn off Extensions, if any.
         Safari > Preferences > Extensions

  • Adobe cloud tries to load addon which I have deleted in Extension manager

when Adobe Cloud starts it tries to load an application (Edge FX lite) that I have deleted in Adobe Extension Manager cc. I get the error message ' unable to install the addon EdgeFX lite  error 603. How do I stop this?
Also in Adobe Exchange in 'My Stuff'  there are showing addons which I have removed in Adobe extension Manager cc which I would like to be removed from this listing as I will never use them, but if I right click to uninstall I fail to get rid of them.

Apologies, without making the assumption that you are signed in
    1) Go to https://creative.adobe.com/addons/
    2) In the top right hand corner select sign in and enter your Adobe ID and password
    3) Once logged in, on the center of the screen at the left hand side, select the link 'All your purchases and shared items'
    4) You will then be taken to a page that is the equivalent of your My Stuff panel.
    5) You can then install individual add-ons/extensions.
    Kind regards,
    Lea
