Safari 5 for windows with multiple extensions installed crashing

I installed Safari 5 on my Windows PC running XP PRO with SP3 ; I also had Firefox installed and was using multiple extensions and add ons there. After using Safari 5 for a day or so I installed a number of extensions. Two were also installed on Firefox; Feedly and LastPass; no idea if this has anything to do with anything.
Shortly after this I started having problems with both Firefox and Safari crashing. Eventually uninstalled Firefox until I got Safari stable but I haven't been able to do that . It's still crashing every 30 " or so, sometimes more often. The error message says "Safari has encountered an unexpected difficulty and needs to close." When I click on the "Details" link it says Error Signature App name Safari.exe

Can anyone give me some advice? I hate to uninstall the extensions only to find out that's not the problem.

MareksGreg here was getting symptoms that sounded a bit like Hedi's (Flash not working):
10 minutes earlier I was thinking about this and I tried to uninstall 2 of 3 extensions I got.
I uninstalled "Sessions" and "Awesome Screenshots". And it worked.
I think that the update for extensions I did last week occurred this problem not the extensions themselves.
Now I installed both of extensions back and everything is alright, like ebfore.
It looks like an extension-related problem is likely to cause a user-account-specific problem too.

Make some updates for it or something, afterall, the thing has not been updated in a year! & the main part of Safari which constantly freezes up & crashes is the pointless "WebKit2WebProcess.exe" It should be fixed, or changed back to how Safari USED to be before it had this, which just causes tons of porobs w/the browser!

This is strange and I think it looks like a hardware issue because you have used the Toshiba recovery disk and after this the same problem occurs.
But its not easy to say what causes this problem. You can check the HDD and RAM by using Drive Fitness Test and Memtest86. Use Google to find both programs. You can download a bootable image of both programs. You must burn it on a CD and boot from it.
If the tests cant find an error your notebook should be checked by a notebook technician.
Maybe you can find the problem by yourself and to exchange the RAM or HDD this is pretty easy.

Many versions ago Bit defender crashed, but since the update is happens rarely. A clean reinstall may help with the hangs, but please also see [[Firefox hangs or is not responding - How to fix]] if it hangs after certain steps.
It could also be [[Upgrade your graphics drivers to use hardware acceleration and WebGL]]
When you rebuilt the system did Program Files/Firefox/profiles.... get erased as well?

Safari for Windows crashes when trying to interact with bookmarks

Hello, I've installed Safari for Windows but when trying to interact with bookmarks, it crashes everytime.
Trying to view, create or import bookmarks all wield the same result: instant crash.

Just to try, I copied the en.lproj to es.lproj in every subfolder on Program Files/Safari, this because I have a Spanish (Mexico) regional setting, and after a Safari restart, bookmarks now works and even imported my info from IE and Firefox. This also worked me for other issues. More details in:

Looking for a high-contrast extension for Safari for Windows

First of all,what do we call them - extensions or plugins?
Is there an extension for Safari for Windows for high-contrast? I can't find one anywhere. Windows 7 is set to a HC theme. IE just follows suit. Chrome detected this, ad offered to install a theme.
Don't know why, but I still prefer Safari on my Win7 system. But really need HC. One that just inverts the colors would work, but one with several other options like the Chrome extension would be better.

I have used Safari for Windows as my main internet browser for at least the past 4 months and I have never had any trouble with it. Yesterday when I tried to run Safari it simply crashed, even before loading anything. I have tried re-installing it but to no avail. What can I do?

Safari for Windows is NOT compatible with Unicode 3.1 CJK characters!

This is an "old" problem since Safari for Windows was initially released. In the meantime, the problem is still not fixed in the latest version 4.0.3 (531.9.1).
Not only Safari (for Windows) does not properly show homepages that contain Unicode 3.1 CJK characters, but it also fails to show Unicode 3.1 CJK characters (it shows "squares" instead) in the whole application, such as Search box and all dialog boxes. Will this be fixed in the next release?
By the way, it is strange that Safari 4 for Mac is Unicode 3.1 compatible.

To speak more precisely, the Safari for Windows doesn't support CJK characters of Unicode CJK Unified Ideographs Extension B.

Very poor implementation of XMLHttpRequest streaming with Safari for Window

I hope this post reaches Apple engineers. This is critical for us to resolve this. I am a member of the developer network, so if using incident support is necessary, it can be used. Do not hesitate to contact me with any questions. I have implemented a test to compare XMLHttpRequest streaming performance for different browsers. Safari for Windows 5.0.3 had the worst results compared to Chrome and Firefox. Furthermore, I think this problem was introduced after Safari 3. The test consists of a server pushing messages of about 350 bytes to the browser at a rate of about 300/s. Once server pushes 10,000 messages, it closes the connection and browser opens new one repeating the cycle. There were several problems associated with Safari: 1) Safari could not process much more then 300 messages/s, that is quite low. Chrome had no problem processing 1,000. If, for example, 500 m/s was used, Safari would quickly allocate hundreds of meg of memory and crash. 2) Safari starts with about 64MEG of memory allocated. Once the test page is opened, memory quickly climes to 150MEG and as test progresses to >400MEG. Once the connection closes, it drops to 150MEG again. Chrome's memory did not fluctuate at all staying at 32MEG for the same test. 3) CPU was steadily claiming as test progressed and then dropped as connection was reset, creating CPU spikes. It reached about 50% CPU before connection was closed. Chrome's CPU stayed at about 2% all the time. This is the code: Server. Should be run with the latest Java Tomcat 7. Safari for Windows crashes when I try to import bookmarks

Hi everybody!
I'm trying to import my mozilla firefox bookmarks into Safari for windows 5.1.7... (running on Windows 7 Professional SP1)
So I exported it from Firefox bookmarks menu, and then go to Safari > File > IMport Bookmarks
Then error occurs: It opens a dialog box to choose the html file with the bookmarks wanted, and after a few mileseconds... it crashes!

Trouble with PDF files in Safari for Windows

I downloaded Safari for Windows at work on my XP machine because I much prefer the Safari interface. The problem that I am having is that one of the web-based programs that I use at work does reports in PDF format and when I click on the link for a report Safari is popping up a window that says the document doesn't exist. Of course, the document does exist and my Internet Explorer and Safari for Mac that I have at home both view these reports with no problems through Safari. I have the most up to date version of Adobe Reader 8, and when I check the installed plugins through the help menu on Safari it shows that the Adobe plugin is installed. So, I have no clue how to get this to work, but if I can't get it fixed soon I'm gonna have to switch back to Internet Explorer (which I don't want to do). Can anyone help???

Try to uninstall and after that install Acrobat Reader 8 again.

Flash Video Encoder conflict with Safari for Windows

I installed Safari for Windows (AMD/Windows XP) without the
options (no Bonjour) and found that it disabled Adobe Flash Video
Encoder (tries to reinstall, can't find msi, can't reinstall from
disk, 1 keeps asking for disk 1). Uninstalled Quicktime, didn't
help. Uninstalled Safari, rebooted, still can't get Flash Encoder
working.

Safarai for Windows crashes

I am using Safarai for Windows version 3.0.4, on a XP desktop, I do have it set up as the default internet browser. The problem that I'm having is when I'm on a site that requires me to sign in, if I press the Tab key on my keyboard after typing in my user name it will crash and bring up the "Do you want to send a error report to Microsoft?" But if I use the mouse to move to the next field to enter my password it works fine. Why is it doing this if I use the Tab key instead of the left button on the mouse? I would like to be able to use the Tab key in case the batteries in the mouse stop working and I don't have any spare batteries on hand. Thank you for your help with this situation.

It's not the correct place, you are supposed to click the the bug button which is located immediately to the left of the addres bar
I used it to report some ommissions, errors and annoyances; but it crashed Safari and raised a General Protection Fault to Windows - staggeringly impressive in its inneptitude - a bug report mechanism which is buggered
Re your particular issue; from what I've read Safari 3.x does not support authentication in this laughably labelled "beta" release. A messagebox or dialog might have been nicer than a program abend for a feature so obviously flawed, assuming that it is implented at all: but hey, "it's beta" as the Aplle fanboys will no doubt post if you continue to mention Safari's shortcomings

Install new Dictionaries on Safari for Windows

I would like to install some dictionaries for languages, not yet supported from Safari like Russian, Greek etc., on Safari for windows. I have already installed aspell for windows and it works fine with opera. Is it possible to configure it to work with safari too? If not, how can I spellcheck on other languages than the supported ones from Safari?

Someone posted the location in the forums, but I can't find it.
Checked Windows Explorer... try making a copy of the "en" file in the folder: C:\Documents and Settings\(username here)\Application Data\Apple Computer\Safari\Spelling
Next, edit the en file to add words you want. Not sure if you can add your own language files in that folder...

Does the Citrix ICA client work with Safari for Windows XP?

I really like safari for XP so far. However, I use the Citrix ICA client software to remotely access programs from a server at work. I tried following instructions on the Citrix knowledge base site for installing the client for Firefox, etc. since they did not have any info on Safari for windows. Please help, or I will be stuck using Explorer. Thanks.

The Citrix ICA client doesn't work with Safari on a Mac. Given the number of bugs and other problems with the Safari 3 Beta for Windows, I'd guess that the chances of Citrix working with this release are slim to none. However, the Citrix ICA client works well with Firefox 2.0, in case you're interested in trying it.

Need Help with safari for Windows 8

i am stuck with the need to have a pc due to a proprietary business software... I am a mac user and prefer to use safari... i just had to by a new pc and tried to download safari for windows 8.1 but cannot find it... any help out there?

Apple hasn't supported Safari for Windows in quite a while (and even when they did, you wouldn't want it - total crap). IE 11 actually isn't bad, you can also try Chrome.
