Safari 5 on different Windows versions?

I use Safari 5 on Windows XP. Works great! I'm a fan of the font rendering (because of my displays), but I also like the Top Sites feature, the Reader feature, the Web Inspector, too many to mention.
Anyone running Safari 5 on Vista or Windows 7 without any problems? I see a lot of posts about Safari crashing, but usually it's their PC or the installation, or they didn't reboot, or something.
I'll try it on Vista and Windows 7 in the next few, but I hope it's running OK. Anyone have any good stories on Vista or Win7?

Web Inspector works, but it is now part of the Safari window (not a new window). I can't undock it.
The URL bar has a new loading background, and the Reader button is also on the bar. It usually shows the RSS button; the Reader button replaces the RSS button if it is 'available' for that web page.

We need to increase the memory in the server where is the standby database , but first, we need to upgrade the windows version.
The actual version is windows 2003 standard edition 64 bits
The new version will be windows 2003 enterprise edition 64 bits
This difference in windows version between primary and standby servers can cause a problem in the synchronization between primary and standby databases ??
What do you recommend? Have both servers in the same windows version?
The databases are in SQL SERVER 2005.

There is no issue with database synchronization as long as SQL Server is of same version.<o:p></o:p>
What do you recommend? Have both servers in the same windows version?<o:p></o:p>
OS(Windows version) has no restriction for using SQL server 2005 database mirroring/log shipping. You can go with upgrade without any worries on SQL
database side.<o:p></o:p>

Runtime.exec() for different Windows versions ?

Hello all.
I'm currently developing a Java program that uses Runtime.exec() to launch a MS-DOS application (the old MS-Kermit). It works fine under Windows ME and Java 1.3.1 but the very same code fails to work under Windows 2000. That's very bad for me, since my program should work on all windows platforms from 95 up to XP (and NT).
My question is : can I trust Runtime.exec() or am I damned to write different versions of the same command for different operating systems ?

Runtime is not os independent, so yes, it has to accomodate the os differences. There is an enhancement request on the subject, tho.
Search the forums, there is code that handles the differences posted.

LabVIEW V'sI containing TestStand API saved on different Windows versions

Hi.
I have a question regarding saving and loading of LabVIEW VI's that contains calls to the TestStand API in different versions of Windows:
Can it be true that if I create such a VI in e.g. 64 bit Windows 7 and then load it in 32 bit Windows 7 or XP with the exact same versions of LabVIEW and TestStand, the VI will need to be recompiled?
I am currently using LabVIEW 2012 SP1 f9 and TestStand 2012 SP1 f1.

If the labview version is same then it need not be re compiled.
It will work with different versions of Windows (for both bitness 64\32 OS)

How to make in/out Port vis work with COM interface under different windows versions?

I know that the accessHW is necessary for it, so I downlaoded the
this file from the homepage of NI, but there are always some problems
with it.
My program should get the the voltage impulse between
the pins DTR and RTS of a COM interface. After
I installed accessHW under winNT, the voltage between them changed
automatically from 0 mV to about 24 mV , and program
worked well . But this way does not work under Win98 and Win2000,
and this voltage is always 0 so that the device can not make any voltage
impulse.
Could someone give me a software solution for it? Thanks!
P.S:The version of the labview I use is 6.1.

You shouldn't depend on a voltage difference between the tow pins unless you need something like 24 volts and not 24 millvolts. All of the signal lines are referenced to ground and the signal lines usually swing between -3 to -12 and +3 to +12 volts. If you truly saw a 24 millivolt difference between two signal leads, then all that means is that they are both at the same logic state. A difference of 24 millivolts is not much and has to do with the UART in your computer and not accessHW I believe though maybe what happened is that the difference is 24mv when both are logic "1" and less when logic "0" or vice versa. If your device requires power from the serial port, then what you'll have to do is control the signal lines in your program and I
would recomend VISA to do that instead of inport/outport. And check the voltage requirements of your device. If this is a device you designed, it should be designed for the lower voltages on new pc's and laptops. In other words, I would depend on 3 volt signals instead of 12. There are numerous references to either RS-232 or EIA-232 on the web. I think a review of the electrical specifications is needed.

Creating another dialog instance on different windows version

We have our main instance on a 32bit windows 2000 with sql2000. We want to add a secondary instance on another server, it'll be on a virtual vmware server. Can this new instance run on a 64bit windows 2003? Without making any changes on the 32but windows 2000 instance?

as long as the second plattform is also supported for the product you want to install, this is not a problem at all.
It is even possible to have a completely mixed system landscape where some application servers are on unix and some on linux. As long as all platforms that you use are supported for the product, it will work.

FF displays differently on different Windows OS versions

I run the same Firefox version 3.6.13 on Windows 7 and Windows XP. On XP, Firefox displays the page exactly as expected. But on 7, the same Firefox version messes up the css of the same page!
I am puzzled as to why this happens??!!
Same FF version, same website, just different Windows OS ...
Do the FF configuration options have to be the same on both OS? Does Windows 7 bigger and higher resolution monitor has anything to do with it? Do the pixel and resolution setup in Windows 7 affect the display?

that a pretty vague problem to try and diagnose. My advise, use a debugger and watch the code execute to understand why it is behaving the way that it is. Is the problem predictable, or does it vcary from time to time. Variance might indicate threading issues. Sounds like you are in for CS hell to me.

Safari 4, Saving a new bookmark switches to a different window

When I add a new bookmark to Safari 4, the bookmark gets saved but I get switched from Safari to another window or program. For instance if I have Photoshop, Outlook, and Safari open, adding a bookmark will cause my focus to switch from Safari to Outlook or Photoshop. I then have to select Safari again to get it on top of my other windows. This did not happen with Safari 3. I have replicated these results on my Vista Ultimate machine with version 4 at work as well. Same problem. Last night I completely reinstalled Vista on my home computer thus having a totally fresh system. Same problem. Bug has been reported but I just want to know if anyone is having this issue.

Just for those who are interested, this is what cleared the "bookmark menu" trbl I had.
Open System Preferences > iCloud
Deselect the box next to Bookmarks, then reselect it.
Quit and relaunch Safari. Try a bookmark again.

I am working with Visual Studio 2010, .Net 4.0 and C#.
I am trying to connect to WCF Host Server with Tcpbinding.

if then, how to adjust max values according to windows version.

Why are you setting your buffer sizes larger than what TCP can support and much larger than what the MTU for your networks is going to be anyway?

Syncing iTunes across Different Platforms (Windws & PC) - Windows Version

Im not sure where to put this questions so I'm adding it to the iTunes for Mac secion as well. I have an iTouch that I have been using on my Windows platform iTunes. In addition to music, I also use iTunes to sync up my contacts and calendar list from Micosoft Office Oulook to my Touch.
Last week I switched to Mac and ported all my music to a new iTunes libary on my Mac. Due to issues with Office I can not use the Mac ver of office for my contacts and calendar.
I loaded VMware Fusion and Windows XP on my Mac and installed iTunes for Windows. I did not move any music, podcasts, etc... over to the Fusion/Windows iTunes - only my contacts and calendar info is on that version.
Now I have two instances of iTunes on my Mac... a Mac version and a Windows version under Fusion.
What I would like to do is:
- Sync my iTouch for Music only using the iTunes running under Mac.
- Sync my iTouch to the Windows version under Fusion for the contact list and calendar updates. This version will not have any music in the library.
Questions:
1) Can I do this without causing a melt down on my touch?
2) What happens when you sync to a library without music? Does it erase the music on the touch?
3) I havent tried to sync my touch to the Mac yet- what will happen when a windows based touch tries to load a mac based iTunes?
If this doesnt work I guess I could reload all my music to the Fusion(PC) version of iTunes and be done with it but I would really like to use my Mac version.

You have got to be kidding! I have been trying for months to do this between my three machines. What exactly is the point to having an iTunes account for multiple machines if you can not have the same library across them? If this isn't the stupidest thing I've come across in years, honest to Pete...
What if I use a thumb drive to keep the directories manually synced? Or does apple go the extra step to prevent this too? Can you point to a library through the intranet? I could just put up a server and point my machines to it, boy wouldn't that be speedy and elegant.
I just want to scream this is so annoying. I might as well go back to a system that works, a Windows phone... The iPhone isn't that much nicer than my old tilt.

QuickTime movies no more listed in Safari's Activity Window.

When browsing a page with movies, I found very useful to open the Activity Window and doubleclick a QT movie's URL to open it in a blank window.
Since the last update this is no more possible, if you look at Activity Window the movies are no more listed there. You find images, css files, and more, but no more movies.
WHY?

OK, it is how the page is coded that keeps the video stream from appearing in the Activity window and it is not something that happens by default. This was one of the things I suspected was happening. These video clips of Amtrak trains show up in the Activity window and will show up in their own window if you double-click on them (although, as streams with 0 byte content, you cannot option-click on them to save them to disk).
One of my first thoughts was copy protection. When videos on iTunes were free, for example, the ability to save them to disk using QT Pro was blocked, but I see that QT Pro will still save the trailers.
EDIT: I see that Firefox still sees the trailer in its Get Info box for the page, so there is obviously some difference in how content is being extracted for Safari's Activity window and Firefox's Get Info box. The difference, I suspect, is that Safari's Activity window is supposed to show what actually gets downloaded while Firefox is scanning the source page.
Looking at the two sites, the movie trailer and the train clips, the page with the trailer is calling the QT player and using the movie file as an attribute whereas the page with the train clips is calling the video files directly.
EDIT 2: As I didn't look into this issue before the current OS X update, I can't comment on how things are different than with earlier versions.

Safari Reopen All Windows from last session greyed out

I am using Safari 7.0.6 version. I have a Macbook Pro OS X 10.9.4 I have made sure that under my Safari Preferences/General/ the Close all windows .... is UNCHECKED but I still can't get the "Reopen All Windows From Last Session" to be activated. I can't even do it manually as it is greyed out.
Any suggestions?

How can I make different windows of the same application I have open remain on their respective desktops/spaces after reboot?

I use the same applications for work, entertainment and other personal activities, so it's impossible to simply assign different apps to different desktops/spaces. Thus, I have open windows of the same programs (Pages, TextEdit, Preview) arranged on several desktops. If I reboot my laptop, the windows are just crammed on Desktop 1. Can something be done about it?

Unfortunately, moving the focus to the next window only works with windows on the same desktop.
btw, using a german keyboard layout and german language settings the shortcut is "cmd+<".
I can switch with this shortcut between different windows of my Safari which reside on the same desktop, but I cannot swith between different safari windows distributed over several desktops.

OS: windows 2000 pro English
Java version: jdk 1.5.x was already installed. (Its not permitted to change.)
I dont have any authorization to install any software on the PC.
But I need to use an Integration Builder.
I already knew URLs of an Integration Builder (http://<hostname>:50000/rep/start/repository.jnlp).
2. How To Do
At this moment, an Integration Builder (XI 3.0) can be launch under jre 1.4.x environment (on windows).
2.1 jre preparation
I download j2re-1_4_2_10-windows-i586-p.exe from http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/download.html
I installed it on my home PC and copied all files from C:\Program Files\Java\ j2re1.4.2_10\ into my USB.
2.2 Put them into the system
I pasted j2re1.4.2_10 folder from my USB into the windows 2000 pro system.
Finally, I could list up all of javaws.exe under this system.

Go to File-> Preferences -> Java
As you can see, it indicates 1.5 version.
Click [FIND] button.
Click [NEXT] button.
Click the j2re1.4.2_10 folder.
Click [NEXT] button.
A JRE Finder is able to find javaw.exe automatically. Or you can indicate C:\j2re1.4.2_10\bin\javaw.exe directly.
Click [NEXT] button.
Finally, there are two Java Runtime Versions. Now you need to uncheck the Enabled column of 1.5 version and check 1.4 version.
Click [OK] button.
Well, in the General tab, I selected None for Proxies.
2.5 Launch an Integration Builder
In the Location field, I typed the URL of an Integration Builder jnlp.

SAP Integration Builder comes up inside Applications area.
Select it and click [Start] button.

I am not getting anywhere with deploying my application or
applet.
I have set up my bc4j project. It contains all my VO info,
links, application module. (proj a)
I then have another project with DbInfo in it(has all my rowset
info), Multiple Frames, and my Applet.java file.
Actually I have an Applet.java file and a Application.java file
because I was seeing if both/either worked. Anyway they seem the
same, except for that extra window that comes up when you run the
applet.
I follow the steps in the oracle directions (from earlier post).
And all seems ok. But at ---->

I have no HTML file associated with my applet, at least that I
know of.
So do I need to create one, or should it of been done
automatically.
Also, I trying to figure out what will be the best way to deploy
my project. Applet or stand alone application is what my first
choices have been so far. I have read that there is some issues
with applets being served from a different server than the
database. So a stand alone application was my front runner, but
I haven't gotten either way to work yet.
