Safari 6.0 ruins bookmark bar?

I loved the ease of the bookmarks bar -- I just clicked and went to the site. Now, with 6.0, I have to be really careful, because a name-change dialog starts when I click the name. Is there a way to turn this off? It is annoying, and I suspect that people *rarely* want to change the names; they just want to use the bar without thinking about.
Apple, please return us to elegance! This is one of several inconveniences that have been introduced.

In the middle of the bottom edge of the black area in the bookmarks window, there's a "grab handle" represented by three short, faint horizontal lines. When you move the cursor there, it changes to a hand. Click and drag the grab handle upward.

Curious sound in Safari while mousing over bookmarks bar

I noticed it today at about 1:55 am: whenever my mouse entered the space over either of 2 buttons in the bookmarks bar that happened to be for FOLDERS, the computer played a short sound. It's pitch was C3 and it could best be described as a "saw hit". It was none of the system beeps. It did not occur consistently, but maybe in about 2/3 - 3/4 of the times. The site I was reading happened to be an article on Beliefnet. I never pressed the folder buttons to see what would happen (because I was trying to figure out the pattern first). It did not occur over any of the buttons that were straight LINKS. After 1:57 it never happened again. (going back to Beliefnet later had no effect either).
I have 10.4.6, Safari is Version 2.0.3 (417.9.2)
Anyone has any idea what was going on?

No, it stopped happening after the said time completely. It occurred only over the 2 buttons that were folders.
I don't think it had to do with the site I was on.
I got the feeling that it was either some "easter egg" type thing or some virus or something like that, i.e. a code that is activated by some constellation of things. I never heard that sound before or after, however it could be a GarageBand sound - but then how/why would it be activated in Safari?
A mystery to me.

Genius bar did an archival install of mountain lion after I had 2 hard drive replacements. Current bookmarks bar was installed. Safari crashed and now have very old bookmarks bar showing. Where is my newest bookmarks bar?

Safari 5.1.4 renaming "Bookmarks Bar" to "BookmarksBar", causing the bookmarks bar to disappear

After I upgraded to Safari.5.1.4, I noticed that my bookmarks bar was completely gone. I went into Show All Bookmarks, and I noticed under the BOOKMARKS heading on the left, there was a folder called "BookmarksBar" (without the space between Bookmarks and Bar). Thinking I did something wrong, I used drag and drop to move all the folders from "BookmarksBar" to "Bookmarks Bar". Once I did this, the bookmarks bar appeared correctly.
However, after shutting down Safari and restarting, the bookmarks bar was gone again! I did a Show All Bookmarks, and the "Bookmarks Bar" folder was again renamed "BookmarksBar". It seems now that I can't maintain my bookmarks bar between Safari sessions.
Is anyone else experiencing this problem?

The problem is when you start multiple threads for the same issues, we have to go back and check each thread to see what troubleshooting that's been tried that hasn't worked for you. That is time consuming not just for us but for you as well.
In case you aren't aware, we are volunteerrs. This is a user to user forum. You are not addressing Apple employees here.

Making Folders on Bookmarks Bar?

We noticed that some of the bookmarks on our Safari 2.0.1 bookmarks bar have a little 'down arrow' next to them. If you click on it you'll see more than one thing listed under that bookmark, essentially making the bookmark act like a folder.
How do you make one of these?
We've tried right clicking on a bookmark and dragging something to an existing bookmark, but no joy.

MyMac8MyPC, from the Bookmarks menu, select Show All Bookmarks. Then from the Collections sidebar on the left, select Bootmarks Bar. Then click the "+" below the blue and white striped window to the right. This will create an untitled folder which you can name and then select Hide All Bookmarks. The newly named folder should show up in the Bookmarks Bar. When you go to a site that you want to add to the new folder in the Bookmarks Bar, select Add Bookmark and then select the new folder from the list in Bookmarks Bar.

Try this...
Click the Bookmarks icon top left in the Safari toolbar then select Bookmarks Bar.
Click anywhere on the right then press Command + C on your keyboard (copy)
Now select Bookmarks Menu. Click anywhere on the right and press Command + V to paste.

Problems opening a New Tab in Safari from Bookmark Bar Folder

When I am in Safari and attempt to Open a link to a new tab from the Bookmark Bar that is part of a Folder on the Bookmark bar it does nothing.
I can change the preferences to auto-click for the Bookmark Folders, but then every link loads when I try to access the folder from the Bookmark Bar. Very cool to see lots of pages loading at once, but not what I'm after. Doesn't seem to be a way to just load 1 link from the folder
If its a single link on the Bookmark Bar that has not been organized into a Folder it does work.

You know what? - my Safari works just the same way.... but I'd never noticed before.
I've used apple-click to open single bookmarks from the bar, many times. But have always ( for no particular reason) opened a new tab first ( apple-T ) if I've been looking for bookmarks within a folder.

The font in Safari's bookmarks bar and tabs bar has suddenly changed

The font in Safari's bookmarks bar and tabs bar has suddenly changed to a lighter font. How do I change the font back? I'm not speaking of the font size/type in the web browser in viewing web pages, but the font in the application itself has changed. It's rather annoying and would like to be able to change it back! I'm running Safari v5.1.7

OK, Margie, here's what to do . . .
First Quit Safari.
Then Find your User's (Home) folder library.
It's hidden, but here's how you find the Home Library:
Click on the desktop to get the Finder menu. Then go up to "Go" in the menu bar, while holding down the option key.
You'll now see the User Library in the drop down list. Open it, then look for the Fonts folder.
Take the fonts folder to the desktop.
Restart Safari.
Any better?
(Warning: This is only for the Users/Home > Library > Fonts folder. Under no circumstances, should this be done with the SYSTEM > Library > Fonts folder.)

In Safari go to View > Show Toolbar.
Go to View > Customize Toolbar and drag whatever elements you want (like the default set at the bottom) to your tool bar.

Any way to get favicons in Safari 6.0 bookmarks bar yet?

Lack of favicons in bookmarks bar is the #1 reason (of many) why I don't like using Safari....but as long as Chrome continues to have crash issues with rMBP (and now Flash stopped working in the 22.0.1229.2 dev version), I'm stuck with it for some things. Is there an extension out there that'll enable this and I just haven't been able to find it?

@hpr : I was running the dev version because it provided a LOT more stability with Chrome/Flash (while I waited to receive my "free upgrade to mountain lion" email from apple), and it also addressed the Retina font-rendering issues. Latest official Chrome release was super crashtastic for me -- multiple kernel panics daily. Apparently this is/was An Issue for the new rMBP + Chrome + Flash. Honestly, though, this thing reboots so freaking fast it wasn't even *that* much of an issue.
Finally jumping to Mountain Lion right now...hopefully that'll stabilize things. If not, back to the dev version I go. Chrome has spoiled me - I just can't deal with Safari anymore.
@Justan : Yeaaaaah, I figured that out after I installed it. Ah, well.

I have imported bookmarks from Safari to Firefox but the bookmarks bar does not change in Firefox and match that of Safari. That's the part I need most. Any ideas why? Also, I don't see where to choose for Firefox to be my default browser.

I use a Imac with OS 10.6.7. I've just uploaded Firefox 4. I had Firefox 3 already but do not use it often. I've been using Safari. I imported bookmarks from Safari to Firefox, but the bookmarks bar in Firefox did not change to match that of Safari, and that's where the important bookmarks are. Any ideas?
Also, I can't find where to choose Firefox as my default browser.

Copy the files from the old Profile into the new Profile, replacing the existing files that are in the new Profile. That will make your new installation just like the old one.
Or if you just want your bookmarks, copy only the '''places.sqlite''' file from the old Profile into the new Profile.

Why can't I enlarge safari bar and bookmarks bar so the print is larger. I can only do this if I change resolution on display. I do not want to make my 27" smaller. Any comments?

After just installing Mountain Lion on mid 2011 iMac 27" I find it does not allow increasing size of font for Safari bar and Bookmarks bar. The print is so small it is difficult to see. I can change resolution of screen but the the size of the screen becomes smaller. Not what I had in mind when I bought this iMac. Is there any fix out there and is Apple working on this problem? Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks.

My bookmarks bar and toolbar do not drop down when Safari is in full-screen mode.

I just updated to Safari 5.1.5 this morning as well as OS 10.7.3 and when in full-screen mode, the bookmarks bar as well as the toolbar will not drop down. Once I escape then I can see them fine. I'm also having issues with dragging or dropping ANYTHING. A gost image of what I am trying to move shows, and will not go away unless I force quit Mail or Safari. Needless to say, what I ws attempting to drag and drop does not take effect.

Click the title bar one time. The gray area of the window at the very top of your screen in full screen mode.
Not sure what you mean by, "anything", when dragging and dropping. Right or control click the content. There may be an option for saving that data for you from the menu.

Bookmarks bar and tab controls not working in mobile Safari on iPad2

The bookmarks bar as well as tab controls in Mobile Safari on iPad 2 are not clickable. Only the topmost nav buttons work. This persists through reboots w/Safari closed via mem manager, and a system restore. What do?
