Safari 6.02 bookmark icons disappeared running 10.7.5

I asked this and got no answers about a week ago, I of course followed an old post about correcting this in older versions of Safari where Library/ safari folder had a file which needed to be trashed and Safari restarted. But Safari 6 does not have ths file
WebpageIcons.db the flder only contains
Bookmarks, History and SusppendState files inside Library /Safari
anyone?

I forgot about this post but am becoming a bit iratated when going thru bookmarks in Safari and seeing a few icons for sites but the majority 90% of my bookmarks have generic blue dots.
This seemed to happen with one of the last updates and I see nobody addressed this which from experience either I should know how to correct or "welcome to the club , it's an Apple fault"
can anbody chime in hear as you would might understand that it is harder to navigate bookmarks by actually looking at the names and much easier to look by icon which I have grown to depend on.
anyone?
or is it back to Firefox?

  • Safari 6 (Lion) bookmark icons won't stick

I am still using Lion but I upgraded to Safari 6. If a web page has a pic next to it's URL, that pic goes with the bookmark. After upgrading, all my bookmarks have the blue ball before the each bookmark. If I click on a bookmark with a pic, it shows. However, after closing Safari and reopening, those pics are not sticking, hence back to the default blue ball showing.
What gives? A new unknown Apple setting? Glitch?
    Any help with be appreciated.
Wow, I just figured it out thinking outloud to myself while studying the icons showing. Everytime history gets erased, so do the bookmark icons. Really Apple?
Any way to get them to stick besides keeping history forever?

Rats!  I just noticed the same thing.
Hey, Apple:  This is a bug.  Erasure of the history should not erase icons associated with a site.

  • Safari and App Store icons disappeared!!

From my Iphone 3G, safari and app store icons have disappeared, so I can not browse the web and can not go to App Store!!
Help please. Just updated today, but did not resolve the problem.

Have you checked in settings to see if you have restrictions enabled?

  • Bookmarks icon disappears from the Navigation Toolbar

There are two different bookmarks icons available for the Navigation Toolbar:
    – a drop-down list version (distinguishable by its down-arrow)
    – a panel version that opens the Bookmarks panel on the left side of the screen
The panel version works just fine for me if I drag it onto my Navigation Toolbar from the Customize Toolbar menu, but I prefer the drop-down list version. When I put the drop-down list version onto my Navigation Toolbar, it seems to work at first. However, when I click "Done" on the Customize Toolbar menu, the Bookmarks icon (drop-down list version) disappears!
Removing and adding it does not solve the problem.
Choosing "Restore Default Set" does not solve the problem, even though the drop-down list version is part of the default set.
    Side notes:
    1) The Reload and Stop icons also disappear, but I expect that, since they effectively merge into the location bar.
    2) Other odd behavior: If I put the panel version icon immediately to the left or right of the Reload, then the Reload icon remains in the Navigation Toolbar (to the right of the location bar). The Stop icon does not exhibit this behavior; it always disappears. After playing around for a bit, I ended up in a situation where the Reload icon would never disappear, no matter which icon was next to it. I was only able to stop this behavior by choosing "Restore Default Set".

This might be a problem with the way Ubuntu modifies Firefox.
Does disabling Ubuntu Firefox Modifications has any effect?

Note that you will only see the Bookmarks Menu button with the drop-down list when the menu bar is hidden and Ubuntu displays window menus in the control bar at the top of the screen with the switch to the Unity window manager.

  • Why did my Safari and App Store icons disappear?

My Safari and App Store icons have disappeared from my screen.  They were there yesterday and I did nothing to my Apple 5 phone

    1. Settings -> General -> Reset -> Reset Home Screen Layout
    2. Confirm the action by pressing the red "Reset Home Screen" button

  • Why did my bookmarks icon disappear and why is my bookmarks menu suddenly on the left side?

Recently, Firefox updated to 23.0.1 (beta?) and once the browser was back up, I noticed that my bookmark icon (the star) was gone. I fixed the problem easily enough by setting it back up to where it originally was. Now my problem is that when I click the icon, my menu appears on the left side of the screen rather than the right as it did previously before the update. I downgraded to 22 and that didn't fix the problem. I would really like for the menu to be back on the right side, as the left is just frustrating me. I did not find any quick fix in the customization menu, or in safe mode. Can anyone help me out?

  • Just updated to 9.0.1 and all the bookmark icons disappeared. Also, tried to watch a gov.ca.gov webstream and it wouldn't load.

My previous version of firefox bookmarks had logos from the companies or government agencies attached to the names. The new version wiped those out.
Also, when I go to some websites I get a message that Firefox needs to be restarted in a 32-bit format. I'm on an iMac that already supports this.
Lastly, I used to be able to watch web stream live videos from the California Govenor webpage. Today's event wouldn't load from www.gov.ca.gov or www.calchannel.com. I have to use Safari to get this stuff.

    Hi FamilyW,
You should take a look at [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/latest-firefox-issues this article] that discusses some of the issues with the latest build of Firefox.
There is some information in there that should help you to resolve your issue. Luckily, it is a very easy fix.
    Hopefully this helps!

  • After updating to Firefox 5 on a Windows 7 PC the bookmarks icon won't stay on the toolbar and I can't click it to get a bookmarks column on the left side of the screen, how do I fix it?

There was no bookmarks icon on the toolbar. I used View > Toolbars> customise to put various icons on the toolbar all of which were visible using "customise". On going back to Firefox all the other icons remained visible but the Bookmarks Icon disappeared leaving no means of getting a bookmarks column on the left of the screen when using Firefox.

Check that you still have the "Bookmarks Toolbar items" placed on the Bookmarks Toolbar<br />
If the menu bar is hidden then press F10 or hold down the Alt key, that should make the "Menu Bar" appear
Make sure that toolbars like the "Navigation Toolbar" and the "Bookmarks Toolbar" are visible: "View > Toolbars"
    * Open the Customize window via "View > Toolbars > Customize" or via "Firefox > Options > Toolbar Layout" and check that the "Bookmarks Toolbar items" is on the Bookmarks Toolbar
    * If the "Bookmarks Toolbar items" is not on the Bookmarks Toolbar then drag it back from the toolbar palette in the customize window to the Bookmarks Toolbar
    * If you do not see the "Bookmarks Toolbar items" or other items that are missing in the toolbar palette or on a toolbar then click the "Restore Default Set" button
Open the Customize window via "View > Toolbars > Customize" or via "Firefox > Options > Toolbar Layout"

  • Android Adobe Reader 11.2.1 has bookmark icon, what does it accomplish?

    1.  Is there an instruction manual for 11.2.1 Android Adobe Reader?
If there was a manual I wouldn't have to ask this question in this forum.
I have looked and looked for a manual and I have concluded I will find the Holy Grail before I find a manual.
    2.  The app has a little tiny bookmark icon at the top.
I can press it and it says in a momentary window at the bottom, that a bookmark was added for that page.
Hooray, I have added a bookmark.
No surely there must be some way to get back to that bookmarked page quickly.  Otherwise, what was the point?
As I scroll through the page that bookmark icon has a barely visible check sign when I am at an already bookmarked page.
As I read the document the menus at the top and bottom go gray after some number of seconds
and that bookmark icon disappears so the check mark is not visible.  Though as small as it is it's essentially un-useful
except to tell me that I have already placed a bookmark at the page I am currently viewing.
It appears that once I have used that icon to add a bookmark there is nothing else I can do with that bookmark.
I have found no way to view a list of bookmarks.
I have found no way to quickly navigate back to that bookmark.
All I can do is touch the area at the top and bottom so as to display those
top and bottom menus and then observe whether that tiny little icon has an even tinier check mark in it or not.
Surely there must be something else I can do with a bookmark.
Why else would Adobe bother to actually write software for such a function if there wasn't anything to use it for?
Or perhaps this is an experimental new feature that hasn't been completed?
Again, a manual that explained how to use this software would be useful.
And if the function is experimental and not yet fully functional I am sure a good manual would point that out.

To see the Help documentation in Adobe Reader for Android,
Go to the Reader home screen.
Tap Help in the left pane.
Tap "How To..." in the right pane.
    Tap "Navigate and find content".

  • Bookmark icons dissapeared with update to 12 on MAC

All of my Bookmark icons disappeared when I updated to FF 12 on my Mac 10.7. Next to the name of the bookmark is a silly little empty box. Does anyone know if Mozilla has a fix for this?
(This is not the first time this has happened when updating FF. Why can't Moxilla figure this out?!)

Thank you for responding! I changed my preferences in Favicon, and redid them, and so that problem is solved. However, I still have a few websites that just show an empty box. I would like to just show the company icon logo, but I just see an empty box. For example: my bank, a couple of insurance company's, gas company and some other large company's. I have clicked on these, and opened them, but they do not come back.
    Any suggestions?

Bookmark Individual icons disappeared after clear history in Safar1 6

  • We have a new iPad Mini.  I cannot save a new Bookmark.  In Safari, I go to "Share" and select "Add a Bookmark" yet when I click on the Bookmarks icon, my saved Bookmark is not there.  Am I doing something wrong?

We have a new iPad Mini, and I'm having inconsistent results using Bookmarks in the Safari icon.
For a long time, on the iPad, I could only see five items under the Bookmark icons and the Bookmarks Bar was empty.
Occasionally, in Safari, the iPad would pick up and display all of the Bookmarks from the Safari browser on my iMac.
Other times, there are only a bare few Bookmarks available on the iPad, the Bookmarks Bar goes away and I cannot save a new Bookmark.  It looks like I can save one, but I cannot find it after allegedly saving.
Then, all of the Bookmarks will come back and I can save a new Bookmark again. We can't figure out why all of the Bookmarks will show and then they won't.
I want to think this involves iCloud some way, but for right now, I'm stumped.  Perhaps we're just too inexperienced and haven't come around the learning curve yet.
    Thanks for any help.
    Steve

No, I see the three areas at the bottom of the Bookmark area that you refer to, but that also highlights an issue.  When I want to save a story to my Reading List and click on Share then "Add to Reading List" then go back to look at what is stored in the Reading List, my recently-saved item is not there.
I looked thru the History tab and the Reading List tab and have been in the Bookmark tab.  But even when I Save a Bookmark, that newly-saved Bookmark does not show up in the Bookmark area.
But then again, the next day (and actually just in the last half-hour) all of the functionality came back.  When I look at the Bookmarks, suddenly, again, all of the Bookmarks that are on my Safari browser on my iMac are now there, and I can now Save a Bookmark.
It keeps coming in and out and that is what is driving me a little nuts.
    Thanks.

  • Is there a way to customize safari bookmarks' icons

I guess the question says it all.
I would like to customize the generic bookmarks' icons in the safari Favorites page.
    Any way to do that?

What do you mean by "customize"?
If you want to change the icon for a specifc bookmarked site in the Favorites list, then lizdance40 is correct.  There is no way to change a site to use a custom icon.
If you want to change which bookmarked sites appear in the list, then the answer is yes, you can change the list of sites that appears in the list as well the order that they appear.  To change which sites appear in the Favorites list, add bookmarks to or remove bookmarks from the Favorites folder by navigating to that folder in the Boomarks pop-over (tap the Bookmarks icon to the right of the address field, then tap the Bookmarks icon, then navigate to the Favorites folder, then tap the "Edit" button).  You can also open a new tab, then press-and-hold on one icon to move it to a new location.  Just drop it when it's in place.
