Safari 6.1.6 is not responding

when i want to browse on safari it is not responding what to do

Hi, shyam256.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I understand that you are experiencing an issue with the performance of Safari.  I would start with resetting Safari History and clearing Website Data.  If the issue persists, you may need to take a look at the troubleshooting steps in the second article.
Safari 6/7 (Mavericks): Reset Safari
Unsupported third-party add-ons may cause Safari to unexpectedly quit or have performance issues

When I am opening safari, it saying server is not responding?

    Hey Anniemathew,
Thanks for the question. It sounds like there may be an issue with your network connection. Let’s troubleshoot your Wi-Fi network by following the steps in this resource:

What does the product developer say about system requirements? If it needs to be run from within Internet Explorer then you'll need to find a way to run Internet Explorer. Boot Camp or VM installation of Windows would be two options.
But first check the product requirements.

  • Safari 4.1.3 often not responding  on powerbook g4?

I seem to get a lot of 'hanging' and 'not responding' from Safari 4.1.3 on osx 10.4.11.
Some sites such as www.economist.com  play havoc. Should I go back to an earlier version of Safari>

Do not attempt to install a version of Safari not designed for your version of OS X.
If Safari is getting very slow:
(Presumably you regularly empty your Safari cache by deleting the following file:
    Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/cache.db
    and clear your History)
Adding Open DNS codes to your Network Preferences, should give good results in terms of speed-up as well as added security, (including anti-phishing and redirects) (Full information about Open DNS is here: http://www.opendns.com/home/nobloat ) and further independent information can be read here:
    http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-13727_7-57338784-263/free-dnscrypt-tool-enhances-ma c-web-security/?tag=mncol;txt
    and here:
    http://www.macworld.com/article/1146064/troubleshootdns.html?t=234
Open System Preferences/Network. Double click on your connection type, or select it in the drop-down menu, and in the box marked 'DNS Servers' add the following two numbers:
    208.67.222.222
    208.67.220.220
(You can also enter them if you click on Advanced and then DNS)

  • My fix for Safari 5 beach ball, hang, not responding

    Hello,
So many people experienced problems with safari after upgraded to S5 and me too! Beach balls, not responding, crash, quitting, hang.. Etc. I tried clearing cache, reset safari, delete .plst, uninstall/reinstall safari all yield to similar problem.
Here's what i have done to fix mine.
For slow internet try to change your DNS to:
    *Google DNS*
    8.8.8.8
    8.8.4.4
    *Level3 Com DNS*
    4.4.2.1
    4.4.2.2
    OpenDNS
    165.21.100.88
    165.21.83.88
For safari frequent beach balls, hang or not responding.
    If beach ball occurs,
    1) open activity monitor (safari would be in red font and saying that "not responding)
    2) Don't quit your safari instead look for flash plugin that is running and try to quit that process.
    3) See if beach ball gone, if yes then problem could be your flash plugin.
    4) Go to Adobe site and download latest flash and test your Flash (+http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/+)
5)Try to test that macro media shockwave player if it works (+http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/welcome/+)
when i test mine it says that it run only in 32 bit mode so i turn my safari in 32bit and it able to display that logo which means its working.
So far i never encounter again beach balls(knock to the wood 3x) for a week of usage
I think turning safari to 32 bit mode solves my problem.
In windows7 machine i encountered internet explorer 64bit some pages also not able to display(but no hang) due to Flash player unable to support 64bit, need to run in 32 bit.
Hope my fix to my MBP can benefit others too...
or any of you out there can give or enlighten more on this issue?

    HI,
    crash
I think turning safari to 32 bit mode solves my problem.
If it turns out Safari crashes again, post a crash report.
If Safari has just crashed, press the Report button on the CrashReporter dialog box to view the crash information.
Now copy/paste the entire contents of the Crash Reporter window into your reply here. If the crash report dialog does not appear or the crash is hard to reproduce, crash logs can be retrieved from the ~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter> folder.

  • Safari reports the site is not responding, yet Firefox loads the same site.

If the loading of most web pages is slow in Safari, more often than not, Safari returns that the site is not responding. Clearing the cache and restarting the app do not change this. Every time I've found this issue, Firefox has ALWAYS loaded the site with virtually no hiccup. These are not special sites, just if Safari can't load a site within it's time limit, it gives up on it completely. The best way I've found to induce this is to have a folder in your bookmark bar with a good number of URLs (one of mine can have upwards of 50) and then tell it to "Load all in Tabs." Most of the tabs will come back with the above mentioned failure, and then you've lost that site until you restart or a few hours go by (perhaps).
Now I've mostly found this problem by just loading ONE site, not 50. Even Apple's own homepage has done this to me on regular occasion.
Please give me your ideas on what I'm not paying attention to. I like Safari's WebClip function, and I've made up for most of the functions I'm used to in Firefox's Add-Ons, but this is the nail in the coffin if it's a regular occurrence.

I'm getting a similar error over here. Sporadically some sites won't load specifically in Safari; they open just fine in Opera, Firefox and Camino though. This is really annoying.
    It's pretty clear it's nothing network related…

  • Safari 5.1 on Lion not responding after Quite

    here is the symptomatics:
i'm using MBP 15 late '08 (Core 2 Duo 2,53 GHz with 4 GM RAM --- not sure whether it's relevant here).
I had a number of uneases after my update to Lion. I was able to resolve them [partially] by following this thread: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3197249?start=0&tstart=0
now, since a couple of days ago (w/o any special reason) my Safari started to fall into beach ball. first, it happenend [sometimes] when I turned on my MBP after it was "sleeping" and resumed my Safari seesion. now, however, it happens every time when I try to Quit Safari. I tried to wait for a very long time and it didn't help, the app remained frozen. The only solution so far was to Force Quit Safari.
well, since I don't like the "force quit", I switched to Firefox (some RAM-overloading issues there) and eventually to Chrome, that works quite smoothly for me so far.
I did, however, really like some of the Safari-features and, well, it's somehow funny that the OS-own-browser doesn't want to cope with the OS.
    any thoughts on that?
    thanks in advance!

ok, just found this one: https://discussions.apple.com/message/15723633#15723633
i'm wondering, what is the trouble behind it

  • Just ran the newest updates.  I have 10.6.8.  Now Safari doesn't work?  (not responding)

    I have 10.6.8.
I just ran the lastest updates for my MacBook Pro.  Now, after the computer restarted and installed everything, Safari freezes, won't load the home screen, and gives me the ever-rotating beach ball of doom.
    What happened?  Fix?

Boot from the Install disk and repair the disk with Disk Utility.
If that doesn't help, reinstall the 10.6.8 combo update.
And, you might try posting on the Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard forum.

  • Is it okay to upgrade to mversion mavericks? i have a mac book air version 10.8.5 and my safari is not responding..

i have a question is it okay to upgrade to OS mavericks? free upgrade? i have a mac book air version 10.8.5,

Shouldn't be a problem if your Mac can run Mavericks >  OS X Mavericks: System Requirements
As for Safari. When you say not responding, do you mean it won't open a window, or it won't load websites, or it won't launch at all?
The more details you provide, the easier to help you.

  • My ipad2 safari is not responding and has greyed out

safari on my ipad2 is not responding and has greyed out... is there a way i can sort it out ?

If you follow Bob's instructions.. allow it to cool down.. maybe leave it off overnight.. if the disk fails to start when you power on.. or listen carefully and hear if the disk is failing to spin up properly then you have either dead drive or dead supply.
Is it in warranty or applecare, let apple replace it?
If it is out of applecare even, open it and replace the disk.
How old is the TC? What model from the rubber mat A1xxx? What size disk?
Certain drives are becoming unreliable.. The WD black in Gen2, The Samsung Spinpoint in Gen3 and WD green in Gen3 and Gen4 are none of them great drives.
Out of warranty do the job yourself.. there is plenty of stuff about drive upgrades for the TC.
    Excellent instructions here.

The worst part is am able to check my mails, able to chat and so on... only thing not able to browse through the browser.  I have tried restore option also.  This is happening with both Wlan and Data con. too
    Please help...

I do not really know much about this kind of problem, but i may be your internet connection.
If you are on your own #G network then:
Go to Settings > then enable "Airplane Mode". Count to 10 and then disable it.
Then wait patiently until you get a good connection and then try again.
If you are on a nearby Wi-Fi connection then:
Go to Settings > Wi-Fi > then disable then enable after counting to 10. Make sure that you are connected and then try again.
If all else fails, then you need to contact your provider for assistance.

  • Help please-"Application Not Responding" for Safari and Mail

I read in one discussion that if Safari is slow, you can go to Font Book and select the fonts with a bullet to get rid of duplicate fonts. I did that, and then decided to disable some japanese fonts I don't use.
Now Safari and Mail don't work. Mail won't open at all, and Safari launches but doesn't load and I get the spinning wheel.
I used Disk Utility to fix permissions, and that didn't solve the problem, and now my Disk Utility also says "Application Not Responding".
I also went back to Font Book and enabled all the fonts I disabled. Still nothing.
    ( I can use Netscape-so it's only Mac applications I guess)
Any help is very much appreciated.

Wow- i fixed it! I remembered that when I was in Font Book originally, there were some fonts disabled, and I enabled them.
I couldn't remember EXACTLY which ones, but I disabled some I thought were the ones, and VOILA!
