Safari 6 not filling in Password.

Safari 6 no longer fills in my password and library card number when I access  my local county library page.  nor does it ask me if I want to save that info when I fill it in manually.  I'm using Lion.
the page looks like this.  Is there some way  to correct this problem?   Thanks

That box was already checked and the autofill info was already there.   This used to work in safari 5.  It is the only web page now that doesn'y autofill the Password and needed info.
I have deleted the info from the Keychain Access and from the Autofill "User names and Passwords"  Hoping to start freash again but Safari 6 will not prompt me to save the info.
Is there some other file in a folder somewhere I can delete or some solution to this problem.  I use 3 different Library accounts throughout the day several time and loading the numbers manually is very tedious.
Thanks again.

Check here: Settings > Safari > Private Broswing > Be sure this is stiwtched OFF.
    And check at AutoFill.

  • Safari not remembering multiple passwords for one site

My ffriends and I use safari on my iPhone and thus have multiple login information for one site like facebook. A few months agowe were able to go to a site, start typing in the user name and password, and Safari would show us a highlighted list of the login info that had been saved. You could then click on that info and get logged in.  But that feature stopped some time ago and I can't figure it out.  Now Safari only remembers the last login info.  It still works the way it used to on my iMac and MacBook Pro but not the iPhone. Does anyone know how to fix it?

when the keyboard is open hold on the happy face for a second and from the menu list that pops up turn off the switch for PREDICTIVE.  That did it for me. When I start typing the firts letter of the login name now it predicts in yellow and I press space and fills it in, then I have to press the delete button to remove the space before pressing enter.

  • Safari not filling in web addresses automatically like it used to

Used to be able to type in something like 'earthlink' into the url address and Safari would automatically fill it in as 'earthlink.com' but now it is not doing this. Not aware of any changes to preferences, etc. Any ideas?

    Hi Douglas,
It sounds as if, in a way you are being highjacked, do you use Earthlink as your ISP?
Here are Earthlink's Opt out DNS #s, that are not included in the page, on Portforward
    http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=3251015#3251015
    207.69.188.172
207.69.188.171 if you live east of the Mississippi
    207.69.188.171
207.69.188.172 if you live west of the Mississippi
Go to System Preferences -> Network-> Show Airport: or Ethernet:
On the TCP/IP tab , enter the numbers in list form, in optional "DNS Servers" box that's probably blank.
See this link on an,Earthlink blog & this topic thread for more info.
These Verizon DNS #'s also work well for many users. See the portford link for more Dns server #'s for other ISP.

You may also consider using Open DNS
    Hope this helps some.

  • Why are forms or passwords not filled, when I imported them from Safari?

I've used the Import function to import "saved form history" from Safari, twice already, both times it says it completed the task, yet whenever I go to a site requiring passwords or forms filled out, nothing happens, & I must manually fill everything out! Why is this not working?

The form history will not include passwords. Firefox can not access the passwords from Safari so can not import them.

  • Safari wont fill passwords

I use camino and safari back and forth alot. But i've started to favor safari and now the only reason i use camino is that it actually works with my keychain to auto fill in passwords, and i have TONS of them in keychain.
Safair will not, the keychain is unlocked or lock and safari will not autofill passwords. Even if i right click an internet password in keychain and select go to, it will launch safari and then pull up the site but still not auto fill in the password.
I've done keychain first aid a few times and it shows no error. whtas up with this?
running the latest version of tiger on a 1ghz 17"
on another machine (and i guess this is a second question) the autofill works fine, but i never use that machine, is there a way to make it so that i dont have to type in my user name and it just automatically fills both of those fields?
    thanks
    joe

I've been having a similar problem for months. 1) One day Safari would no longer accept passwords. I've reset Safari, emptied cache, cleared cookies, and repaired permissions but Safari STILL won't accept any option for passwords but not now. 2) AND it won't connect to any site that requires a secure connection. I'm running IE (which I hate) right now b/c I couldn't use Safari to log in. 3) And finally, I caontinually get the mesaage that Safari can’t open such-and-such a page because it couldn’t establish a secure connection to the server “support.apple.com”.
    Help?

  • Why is Safari no longer auto-filling in passwords?

Up until this morning, Safari and Keychain were working and would auto-fill in passwords to various websites. I changed no preferences, deleted no keychain items, nor made any changes to the security settings, but now Safari refuses to fill in passwords. I also can't find these passwords in the Keychain Access; if I *change* the password, Safari asks if I would like to change the stored password. If I say 'yes', there is still no password recorded in the Keychain. If I try to make a new account on a website with a new password, Safari pops up with its usual suggested password; if I select it and move forward, I can not find this stored password anywhere (either Keychain or Safari). ***? I should just use 1Pass and Chrome.
The only weird thing that happened was I was trying to select between two different accounts/passwords on a website; it gave the usual beige/yellow selection box for selecting which stored password/acct to use, then it just went away before I could select something. After that, the above behavior started.

Back up all data. Open the iCloud preference pane and uncheck the Keychain box. You'll be prompted to delete the local iCloud keychain. Confirm—the data will remain on the servers. Then re-check the box. Follow one of the procedures described in this support article to set up iCloud Keychain on an additional device. Test.

  • Safari not remembering passwords.

I recently reinstalled Safari. Now that I have reinstalled it, it is not remembering my passwords. I have had to enter my password every time I login to, for example, MySpace. Before, it would have my password already entered and all I would have to do would be to press login.
I have gone to Preferences > Autofill and made sure that it was supposed to be remembering passwords.
    Help!

Go to Edit then click Preferences than go to AutoFill and then make sure you check were it says User names & Passwords.

  • Ipad4 iOS 8 Safari not remembering passwords. Chrome is ok.

    HI
after the the upgrade to iOS 8 my iPad 4 Safari no longer remembers passwords and settings for webpages.
I have checked the settings for cookies and they are ok. Also Chrome works fine.
I reinstalled the iOS but no change.
I Checked for which cookies is saved in the controlpanel settings for Safari, at there appears to be lots of them, so apparently it just doesn't look at them afterwards.
    any ideas?

    Hi,
Too late to reply you :-(.
Yes, install the Chrome browser and access the PDF link. Our users are not happy with the Chrome idea because they were used to Safari all along. To be frank Chrome browser is performing well these days. We are evaluating and trying to implement HTML5 based solution from Mozilla PDF.js. It is a waste of time and resource due to this small silly, frustrating issue.
No idea when does this get resolved because there are no other solid solution that runs PDF within the browser. More over, IOS Safari does not allows to configure or install other PDF reader plugins to run as part of the browser otherwise alternatives like Adobe reader could be used.

  • Safari not opening password websites

I have been trying to open two different websites that are password protected and since I updated to Leopard I cannot open them on my Mac. (One is work based and the other is my electronic subscription to Financial Times) However, I can open them with the same username/password on a Windows PC which is on the same network. After trying, Safari just displays the password screen and says the username or password is wrong...which they aren't. Any help or is my computer just freaking out?

I too have a similar issue. My bank website requires that whenever I log in from a different computer, that I answer a security question, and then if I select the option "this is a personal computer, please register it", then whenever I log in again I should no longer need to answer the security question. When using the new Safari and Leopard, I have to answer that question every tome I log in. Firefox works fine, but I'd rather stick to one browser instead of switching back and forth. Any suggestions?

  • Auto fill-in passwords

In 2.0, I used the 1Password App for auto fill-in. I installed 3.0 and activated auto fill-in in Settings. However, if a site logs me out automatically, how do I cause Safari to enter the password when I log back in? 1Password fills in the User ID and password every time, but for some reason Safari in 3.0 seems only to fill in the User ID? Perhaps I configured it wrong.

I think this information is stored in
    /Users/Library/Safari/Form Values
I've no idea if it's possible to read it (opened in TextEdit, it's encrypted).
But I wonder if it's possible to use a unix command that concatenates the two Form Value files on each Mac into one? If you want to try this make sure you keep a back up of each original Form Value file belonging to each Mac before messing about. Safari should be closed too.
Copy both files onto a single Desktop, you'll need to name them uniquely, say FormValues1 and FormValues2 (note no spaces) then type this command in Terminal (Applications/Utilities):
    cat ~/Desktop/FormValues2 >> ~/Desktop/FormValues1
Then rename FormValues1 back to the original name of Form Values and move it back into the correct folder:
    /Users/Library/Safari/Form Values
I expect you'll have duplicate values in that file now and I've no idea how Safari will handle this scenario, maybe it will clean up but so long as you keep a copy of the original Form Values files you can restore the status quo afterwards. Good luck.

  • Mavericks Safari form fill from keychain broken

I upgraded to Mavericks yesterday on one of my machines, and I think Safari form fill from keychain is broken.
I have 2 Google accounts that I use regularly. Lets call them accounts GA and GB.
When I attempt to sign into Google from Lion Safari, I get given the choice of which login to use (presumably because Google has stored the memory of GA and GB in a cookie), and then I get asked for the password for the one I have chosen (even though I am sure the password for both is stored in the keychain).
When I attempt to sign in from Mavericks Safari, I get the same first question as to which login I want, and then the screen for the one I have chosen. This time the password has been autofilled from the keychain, HOWEVER, no matter which login I have chosen, GA or GB, and no matter which account name is displayed GA or GB, safari always sends the details for account GA to google. I have no way of logging into account GB, and worse, I might think I have logged into account GB, but I am actually logged into account GA. Dangerous indeed if this were a bank login!
I may be able to get back to logging into GB if I removed google's cookies that have stored memories of GA and GB, but I have not tried this yet.
Anyone else seeing a problem like this?

Probably too late for you, but in case anyone else stumbles on this topic...
    There are 2 approaches.
1- Copy the Form Values file over to the new computer.  It is encrypted with a password in the user keychain, so you will have to copy that keychain over.  If you dont want that keychain, then you would have to get just the safari autofill forms password out of the keychain, and change the new keychain safari value to match.
2- Decrypt the values, and use them for reference until it all gets populated back in naturally.

  • After 10.6.1 Safari won't save passwords

After installing SL 10.6.1 Safari no longer remembers autofill passwords. The user name shows up, but the password won't. When I fill in the password, the autofill prompt shows up and says "the password is different than what is stored, do you want to replace it?" The password ISN'T different, i have gone round and round with this. It will not autofill the password even after this prompt.
    _I have done the following:_
-deleted related keychain, both the application password for the website as well as the Safari autofill keychain. Didn't help
-I trashed the com.apple.safari plist file. Still no change.
-I reinstalled 10.6.1 Still no change
-I have done first aid of the keychain. Still no change.
short of going back to 10.6 does anyone have a solution?
    I'm at a loss...does anyone have a solution??
    any help would be great
    thanks

    HI,
Sounds like your Keychain preference files are corrupted. Locate this file:
com.apple.keychainaccess.plist /Users/YourName/Library/Preferences. Drag that file from your Preferences folder to the Trash, empty the Trash and reboot.
    If that doesn't help...
    1) Quit Safari
    2) Open Keychain Access. (Applications/Utilities) Find the "Safari AutoFill" item. Delete it.
    3) Relaunch Safari. Next time it asks for authorization, click "Always Allow".

  • Safari 4 forgot certain passwords

I have Safari 4 for Snow Leopard, but the problem started before I upgraded to SL. For certain websites like my college and bank, Safari no longer auto fills in my username or password nor does it ask to remember anything. It used to work very well, but one day, only these websites no longer autofill. Can anybody help me fix this problem?
    Message was edited by: nwndarkness

    Hello nw:
    Welcome to Apple discussions.
That is not a Safari problem. Some sites (banks are a good example) will not allow a password to be pre-filled (you have to type it each time). This is a security issue for the site.

  • Not saving certain passwords

I've been trying for weeks to have my MBA save passwords on certain site to no avail. Some sites will ask like normal (e.g. facebook, yahoo, etc.) the computer creates a spot in keychain and everything is fine. Other sites like, Stumbleupon, Scottrade, to name a couple won't even ask me. Scottrade asks on Firefox but not Safari, but Stumbleupon won't ask on Firefox, Chrome, or Safari. I've tried deleting my history and everything else so it's like my first time visiting the site but no dice. It's not on any exception list and nothing for it in my keychain. There are several other sites but these are site I go to pretty regularly. Any help would be greatly appreciated this is driving me crazy.

Some sites deliberately block autofill. Keychain will not work on those sites. I think the rationale is that if you were ever to access the site on a borrowed or public computer, you could, through ignorance or error, accidentally compromise your password.
There are other password managers, such as 1Password, that use different methods for remembering and filling in passwords. They can bypass the restriction.
