Safari 7.0.3 can't access many sites

I've had this problem for a long time but today it is really wierd! I was on Amazon attempting to watch a movie that I get free with Amazon Prime. There was an error message that said there was a problem. Amazon showed an error number & a link to contact support. When I clicked the link Safari said it could not go there because it couldn't connect to Amazon.com!!!!!!!!
We were already connected to amazon.com when I wanted to watch the movie
This is just one rather bizarre behavior but I've had the "unable to connect" message from Safari many times which is why I don't use it much. But in this case I needed to due the Amazon streams.
What is wrong with Safari & what, if anythig, can I do about it?

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • Safari Mac can't access web site that Windows can

None of my Macs can access the site http://cards.123greetings.com . I get Can't Find Server messages in both Safari and Firefox. (Clearing caches doesn't help)
cards.123greetings.com is part of a large free card site that did a major upgrade in October. It still renders correctly on a PC running Windows XP Home which runs on the same network as the Macs, so it's not an isp problem.
Since both Macs (G4 iBook running 10.3, MacBook running 10.4) have the same Can't Find Server problem with both Safari and Firefox, it appears that some setting in the Macs themselves is causing this.
Any help or insight would really be appreciated - Thanks!

A big Thank You to Mulder for letting me know that you can access the site (with Mac Safari I presume) - That's good news.
The bad news: I still can't access the site.
The problem affects two separate computers and four browers. Taking your advice, I repaired permissions and logged in as a new account on both machines. Unfortunately that didn't work.
I next tried accessing the site on the MacBook through Parallels running Windows XP Home. The site came up fine using Internet Explorer.
Then I realized that Parallels operates with a different ip address. So I went back on the Mac using a proxy, and the site came right up.
It now seems that the ip addresses of both computers are being blocked at some level. I want to thank Mulder for replying and virtually ruling out that it might be a Safari issue. I'm now "off topic" and will no longer post in this section. But I'm also over my head... If anyone has advice about how to proceed now, I'd truly appreciate it.
    Thanks!

  • Strange WLAN issue - can't access secure sites

    Hi!
I've just bought a Toshiba L100-120. Everything is fine except the following.
I can't access secure sites with the built-in Intel 3945abg device. Other sites are OK.
If i connect LAN, everything is fine. If I insert my PCMCIA-wireless card, also everything works. The only problem is: to access secure sites with the Intel wireless device.
I already changed the drivers, I tried everything. It's very strange :(
Many thanks if anybody has an idea!!!!

    Hi
Im a little bit confused. Do you mean the secured WLan or secured internet websites????
If you cannot enter the secured, encrypted WLan you need to enter the right key.
In other case if some websites are not displayed you could try to change the IE privacy settings for the Internet zone.

  • Can't Access One Site - Common Threads

I have recently been hit by the unable to access one site problem.
Having read through all the threads, it seems many people are identifying it as a possible DNS issue; however, it seems that almost all of the issues are with people who are hosting their own web servers off-site.
I was hoping this thread could gather information from people who are having/had this issue?
    1) Was the inaccessible site self-hosted?
    2) Did you have any server changes, etc?
    3) Have you solved the issues, how?
Hopefully this gets to the bottom of things.

There is one site that I am aware of that I can not access using my Airport. I have narrowed down the issue to the Airport so far. When I bypass the Airport, the web site connects. Both my Macbook and two PC's can not access this site if I connect via the Airport. I have reset, powered down, booted the modem, worked with Norton and Comcast: still no fix.
I tried changing settings in the utility tool that were suggested on the boards here and still no correction. If anyone has an idea, please post here. Thanks. If I find a correction, I will post here.

  • I can't download many sites such as loreal for freebies etc...

I can't access web-sites many times. Either it won't load at all, or it says the web-site can't be trusted.

The apps are free with iOS 7 if you purchased a new device after September 2013. The apps do not come free just because you are running iOS 7 now. Did you purchase or receive a new iPad recently?
If you did, are you using the same Apple ID to get the apps that you used to activate the iPad? If you are, sign out of your ID, restart your iPad, sign in again and go back to the App Syore and see if the apps show up as free.
Settings>iTunes & App Store>tap your ID and sign out. Restart the iPad and go back to the settings and sign in again.

  • Can't access some sites when using Aiport Express, why?

I'm using Windows 7 and my router is a wireless Apple Airport Express that is approximately two years old. Suddenly I can't access some sites (for example www.sthlm.friskissvettis.se, or www.vegetarian-shoes.co.uk, some streamed tv-shows on svtplay.se, and a number of other random sites) when connecting to internet with my router. It worked good until recently and I'm fairly sure this problem emerged when my ISP upgraded from 10/10mbit to 100/10mbit speed. Most other sites like facebook and google works fine.
When using my network cable to connect to internet everything works fine and I can access these sites.
Firmware is current and I've tried reseting the router to factory defaults.
Tried different browsers, and I can't ping the "blocked" sites either. Tracert www.sthlm.friskissvettis.se starts with 10.0.0.1 and continues through a number of long addresses until it says timeout. The last working address before timeout was sth-tcy-ipcore01-ge-0-2-0.neq.dgcsystems.net [83.241.252.13], if it matters. Tracert www.vegetarian-shoes.co.uk also eventually gives me a timeout.
When the network cable is plugged in, I still get timeout on tracert www.sthlm.friskissvettis.se even though I can access the site in Chrome. Weird. www.vegetarian-shoes.co.uk doesn't give me a tracert timeout when the cable is plugged in, and I can access the site as usual.
I've tried changing DNS servers to use opendns servers instead, but to no use.
I've tried pinging these two sites with a lower MTU packet size (with this method: http://www.richard-slater.co.uk/archives/2009/10/23/change-your-mtu-under-vista- or-windows-7/), but still can't access them through ping...
I don't know what to do anymore.... any suggestions???
    Thanks

if the above does not help check with a few malware/virus scan programs for virus. You need to use all programs because each detects different malware. Make sure to update each program to get the latest version before doing a scan.

  • Can't access some sites on DSL - Westell 37W or Verizon connection issue?

I've been experiencing a problem with Verizon's DSL service for the last few days. I have a brand new Dell Dimension with Windows XP hooked up a Westell 327W router (hard - wired) and other laptops running both Vista and XP. All of a sudden, all the users on the same network can't access certain sites. I initially uninstalled AVG on my computer thinking that may have something to do with blocking these websites (aa.com, orbitz.com), and then I realized that some of the laptops don't have any anti-virus programs and still have the same problem. The only thing in common is that they run on the same network off of the same router. Which is when I called Verizon, only to hear from them that they don't block websites, and that the problem is something related to the computer. When I tried explaining that other users also have the same problem (and it is only within the last 5 days), they still won't accept that something is wrong with the router/DSL connection. I checked the firewall settings for the router and they are turned off. Can someone please help me? Am I wrong in assuming that the problem is on Verizon's side?

I appear to be having the same problem (erratic browser connections) as you guys. I was speaking with a tech support person last night who after having me replace Internet Explorer with Firefox (and still having the same issues) told me that the problem was with my computer. I reside in North Jersey as well. This morning, while riding to work I was speaking with a bus-mate and told him about my internet problem. He lives a few blocks away and told me that he has been experiencing the same thing for about a week and that he knows of another person with the same issue. So it appears to me that it’s some sort of Verizon problem. I tried to recap things and send them an e:mail a little earlier, but I think it fell on deaf eyes. I will try to call them later this evening and will report back to this forum tomorrow.

  • Please help. my address bar has vanished. i have no idea how to retrieve it, so can only access bookmarked sites when using firefox.

please help. my address bar has vanished. i have no idea how to retrieve it, so can only access bookmarked sites when using firefox.

Make sure that you do not run Firefox in Full Screen mode with all toolbars hidden.
    * Press F11 to toggle full screen mode (Firefox/File > Full Screen)
If the menu bar is hidden then press the F10 key or hold down the Alt key, that should make the menu bar appear.
Make sure that toolbars like the "Navigation Toolbar" and the "Bookmarks Toolbar" are visible: "View > Toolbars"
    * If items are missing then open the Customize window via "View > Toolbars > Customize" or via "Firefox > Options > Toolbar Layout" (Linux, Windows)
    * If a missing item is in the toolbar palette then drag it back from the Customize window on the toolbar
    * If you do not see an item on a toolbar and in the toolbar palette then click the "Restore Default Set" button to restore the default toolbar set up.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions !
Are you saying you cannot even load that website???
Simply accessing the site works fine for me . . .
But I didn't try to log in, as I do not have an account there.
    After doing the update,
    did you repair permissions?

  • How can i access web sites configured for internet explorer?

Not sure if you're using a different browser than Safari. If not try Firefox or Chrome.

  • Can't access web site

I am trying to access a web site that I normally have no problems accessing. Now Safari tells me:
    Safari can't find the server
Safari can’t open the page “http://www.xxxx.edu/” because Safari can’t find the server “www.xxxx.edu”.
We are using an apple time capsule and no device on the wireless network can open the above web site. We asked a friend to log on and they had no problem accessing the web site.

    Hi,
Check Network pane in System Preferences. Select the Proxies tab.
If there are any boxes selected on the left, deselect then quit Safari. (Command + Q)
You can also access that information from System Preferences - Advanced. Click the *Change Settings* button.
    Relaunch Safari.
