Safari 7.0 will not save PDF

My Safari 7.0 will not save PDF files that can be opened, what do I need to do to get this function working again?

Back up all data.
If Adobe Reader or Acrobat is installed, there should be a setting in its preferences such as Display PDF in Browser. I don't use those applications myself, so I can't be more precise. Deselect that setting, if it's selected. Otherwise do as follows.
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:
/Library/Internet Plug-ins
In the Finder, select
Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste into the text box that opens (command-V), then press return.
From the folder that opens, move to the Trash any items that have "Adobe" or “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari, and test.
The "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can also interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you may need to remove it as well, if it's present. The same goes for a plugin called "iGetter," and perhaps others — I don't have a complete list.
If you still have the issue, repeat with this line:
~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari again.

Macbook, Snow Leopard 10.6.8.  Safari 5.1.1
Since the last software update, Safari will not save bookmarks history.
Prefs. are set correctly, Cache has been dumped, reset done, appropriate .plist trashed, and finally an uninstall and clean install done
with 5.1.1 download from the Apple support site.
The problem still exists, making me very suspicious that this is a bug.
    Any solutions?  Let's hear 'em.

Thank you for your kind and prompt solution.  It is a winner.
Problem solved, again many thanks and a very fine evening/day wherever you

  • Safari 6.0 will not display pdf's

When I upgraded to OS X mountain lion and did all of the updates that were required, I found that the new version of safari (6.0) would not display pdf documents in the browser..... here's how i resolved it.
    Completely quit safari
    Back up data
In Finder select  GO > Go to Folder. or use key combo Shift-Command-G and enter the following: /Library/Internet Plug-ins then press return
(it's easier to view in list mode)
    Delete the file called  "  AdobePDFViewerNPAPI.plugin  "
Restart Safari and delete the cache and try to view an online pdf.
I found it prudent to have the latest version of flash installed

  • Suddenly Safari will not save PDFs on my Mac; why?

Two days ago Safari started refusing to save PDFs. I have emptied the cache, trashed the com.apple.Safari.plist but nothing has worked. Help!

    Hi ...
If you have trouble with saving PDF's again ...
There's another way to clear the Safari cache and sometimes does a more thorough job than from the Safari menu bar.
    Go to    ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db
Move the Cache.db file to the Trash.
Quit then relaunch Safari to test.

  • Batching SaveAs in CS6 will not save PDF Compatible

So I'm using a script that I wrote to bring in files that were converted from CorelDraw to EPS (this is the best conversion process to preserve text and drawing assets).  Basically the script takes the art in the EPS, groups it, places a rectangular border around the art and centers them.  We do this so that they come into InDesign correctly sized.  The problem is, it used to be 100% automated, just about, however now the saveas action command will not remember that "Save as PDF Compatible" needs to be set to true.  When I do a saveas command, it's check by default, but when the saveas command is batched, it does NOT do it that way.  When I try to bring batched AIs into InDesign, it's text that says it was not saved as PDF Compatible.  Am I going to have to script a save function to get control of the saveas settings?  I don't understand why PDF compatible is checked by default, yet batching saveas saves as if it unchecked it.  Any help would be much appreciated as this is throwing a wrench in my automation.

I know that I can handle the saveas via script and avoid this issue, however I'd prefer let the action portion handle the saveas.  You understand what I'm saying though, right?  The record action button apparently isn't logging the checked box for PDF compatible, though when you click saveas so the record records your action, the dialog shows it as pdf compatible.  In the batch function, if I say override save functions, it works perfectly, but I have to click yes or no on a dialog every single drawing it goes through.  So are you saying I just need to script it because the actions setup is bugged?

  • Safari 5 will not Save a pdf

Apparently since the OS 10.7.4 upgrade, Safari will not save a pdf from a google search page. Error message is "cannot export  (file name)". Any Mac users know what is going on here? Firefox works fine. I've ;ooked in Safari and Finder prefs but can't find anything that would relate to this. Trying to download some Camera RAW tutorials. Bookmarked them in Safari, and later d/l  in Firefox which sends them to Finder> Downloads by default.

For anyone else who runs into this problem, go to your hard drive's Library/Internet Plugins and trash the two AdobeReader plugins that have PDF in their name, then restart Safari.   Many others have had this, starting with some Adobe update. It si probably not copnnected to 10.7.4, since one complainer was using Snow Leopard.

  • Safari will not open PDF

It use to work fine, but lately, Safari will not open PDF files from certain sites. It is OK when a site downloads a pdf to open it. It downloads it and Preview then opens it. But for other sites such as my bank web site, it opens the pdf within Safari and I just get a blank page.
It use to work, any idea how I can fix that?

Your problem isn't solved, you just added to it. Safari is perfectly capable of displaying PDF files without using any third-party applications or plugins, but you just installed one. Acrobat Reader is bloatware and totally unnecessary, so if you want to use Safari's built-in capability, do this:
    1. Quit Safari if it's running.
    2. Launch Acrobat Reader and go to Preferences > Internet and uncheck the box for the section at the top labeled "Display PDFs in browser using:".
    3. Go to HD/Library/Internet Plug-Ins and delete the Adobe Reader plugin.
    4. Enter this command in Terminal, press Enter, then quit Terminal:
defaults write com.apple.Safari WebKitOmitPDFSupport -bool false
Restart Safari and try dragging a PDF file from your Mac directly into an open browser window; it should render without any problems.

  • Safari will not open pdf files.

Safari will not open pdf files, instead I get a blank grey screen. How can I get a viewable and downloadable screen/file? Tried Alt/Option to view and it doesn't work either. Firefox and Chrome will not work either.

For Mac check the Safari preferences.
General to set the options for opening links from applications.
Tabs to set the other options.
Hold down the command key to open any link in a new tab.
Sorry, gave up windows several years ago.

  • OSX 10.7.4. will not save ANY of my preferences (system or application -- Safari, Office, etc.)

I am running System OSX 10.7.4 on three different MacBooks.  It will not save any of my preferences (system or application based), passwords, log-ins and keychain. Even Safari did not save imported bookmarks.  I am running Office For Mac 2011 (v 14.2.1) and Outlook will work for a day or two and then I get a rebuild database error message, losing everything.  Word, et all, will not save any preferences, not even recent files.
I did a full erase and clean system reinstall and a fresh install of Office. This problem occurs on all 3 of my MacBook, 2- MacBook Pro’s and a MacAir.  One of the MacBook Pro’s is BRAND NEW.
Any ideas, any fixes out there?

I have what seems to be a similar issue. Are you having other issues like mine?
    Macbook air      11-inch, Late 2010
                            4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3
    Software           Mac OS X Lion 10.7.4 (11E53)
I have updated the latest combi update from the apple site and still have the same issue.
No matter what I try every time I restart my Mac all my preferences and applications reset. (Also preferences don't save when exiting the preference folder)
For example when in >system preferences>general -untick the 'restore windows when quitting and re-open apps' I exit preferences and then go back in to check it has automatically reticked the box.
I have deleted 2 applications several times (including removing the icon from the dock) and each time after restarting it shows a question mark on the dock where I had deleted it from.
On restart I loose downloads and history in safai.
On restart it re opens documents and applications I have quite even after unticking the restore applications on restart box (the one that comes up when shutting down or restarting)
I have been trying to solve this for a month now and it really is frustrating the **** out of me.
    helpppp pleaseee...

Make sure you have updated Acrobat X to the latest version 10.1.3.  They updated the PDF plug-in in 10.1.1:  http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/837/cpsid_83708/attachments/Acrobat_Reader_ReleaseNote_ 10.1.1.pdf#page=4

  • PDF, with electronic signature, will not save. In Finder it's nowhere, tried multiple times..

Started in Preview to save...but PDF, with electronic signature, will not save. In Finder it's nowhere, tried multiple times.

I am having the same problem with signatures.  I am including a form in a pdf portfolio to collect signatures from different users who have Reader.  I make sure that features have been extended for reader. Most of the time they are okay.  But every once in a while (at least one every two weeks) I get a user telling me they can't sign.  No message or error of any kind, just a quick blink but no signature.  As a work-around I've had to save a copy and re-extend features.  This can be time consuming when there are a few documents I need to circulate.  Please advise.
