Safari 7.1.2 slow, broken HD shipped w/ my mac and OS worse and worse

After upgrading to Safari 7.1.2 on mavericks 10.9.5, Safari is pretty slow and crashing sometimes. I'm tired of seeing the spinning colourful wheel.
Btw, I use mavericks because Yosemite is F**** slow and the colourful wheel is all I see when i try to run anything. Mavericks is a bit faster, but still is not even close to what I expect from a mac with the hardware I have, I just don't use Mountain lion (which runs perfectly) because I need some new features of Mavericks.
Btw, my old 2007 pc was much faster than this when I bought it. Turns out it was speeded up only when I bough a new HD (1 tb) and cleaned installed OS X on it. I restored completely my 750 gb HD (shipped with my mac) and it was still pretty slow (with more than 500 gb of free space). That means: I bought a mac with a broken HD. When I took it to the store (while in warranty) to figure why it was so slow, I got my mac 4 days later and the answer: everything is running normal, which was not!
Macbook pro 13' late 2011 (i7, 2.8 gHz, 4 gb ram, 750 gb HD (which now is 1TB))

Do a backup.
Quit the application.
Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J.  When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder.  Select Library. Then go to Preferences/com.apple.Safari.plist. Move the .plist to your desktop.
Restart, open the application and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.
If the application is the same, return the .plist to where you got it from, overwriting the newer one.

I also booted up Safai today which I hardly use and it was incredibly slow as well.

If the above fixes don't work, all I can suggest is to use Firefox or whatever until this attack thing blows over and see after that.

  • HT201222 Is it just me or is the last safari update for Yosemite slowing everyone down? Any ideas how to fix it?

Is it just me or is the last safari update for Yosemite slowing everyone down? Any ideas how to fix it?

When you see a beachball cursor or the slowness is especially bad, note the exact time: hour, minute, second.
These instructions must be carried out as an administrator. If you have only one user account, you are the administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
              View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
Each message in the log begins with the date and time when it was entered. Scroll back to the time you noted above.
Select the messages entered from then until the end of the episode, or until they start to repeat, whichever comes first.
Copy the messages to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of it useless for solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.
Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Please don't post screenshots of log messages—post the text.
Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.

  • Safari 6.0.5 slows to a crawly Need to relaunch periodically

I've not had this problem before but over the last few months Safari 6.0.5  slows after a few hours of constant usage. I have turned off plug-ins and disabled my extensions to no avail. The program orks fine until it slows to a crawl. Then I have to quit and relaunch. Anyone else having this problem?
    Imac 10.8.4 16GB Core i7
    Thanks, Barb

Please answer as many of the following questions as you can. You may already have answered some of them.
    1. Have you restarted your router and broadband modem since you first noticed the problem? If the answer is no, do that now and see whether there's any change.
    2. Are any other web browsers installed, and are they also slow?
    3. What about other Internet applications, such as iTunes and the App Store?
    4. Are there any other devices on the same network that can browse the Web, and are they also slow?
    5. If you can test Safari on another network, is it slow there too?
    6. If you connect to your router with Wi-Fi and you can also connect with Ethernet, do that and turn off Wi-Fi. Any difference?

  • Safari has gone very slow

    Hi there
I have an iPod touch and have found that safari has gone really slow. It takes ages to load the page and zoom in and out also scrolling up and down. It al started when I let my kids aged 11 and 9 used it.  They where not as careful as me when using it but I was supervising and they did not drop it or anything. I have rebooted it then reset it to factory settings in iTunes. I have taken off the apps that they put on there but it made no difference. It has been fine since ios 4 update came out so it had nothing to do with that. I always thought that safari was quite quick but now its unusable on some sites, manly sites with moving images. It is like there is not enough ram any more. I know its not the modem as the two computers that i have are just the same, pretty good and there both using safari. Its strange as my mobile phone with android did the same thing about 6 months ago and nether improved. The phone does it on any wifi and mobile network, so again it cant be the modem. Is there any thing I can do with the ipod to speed safari up, or is that it I cant use safari any more and use opera instead?
    Thanks for any help

    thanks both for the repliy
I now its not the network as its fine with everything else. Also I have already tried restoring the ipod with itunes and that didn't make any difference. I have now reset it like you said but that didn't work. Not sure what to do now maybe safari just want work like it use to. I forgot to say it is a second gen ipod touch so it is quite old now.
Any more help I would be very thankful for.

  • Slow.  iMac 10.5.8.  Verified Disk Permissions and then Repaired Disk Permissions.  Not much improvement in speed.  How do I empty internet files from safari?

iMac 10.5.8 is slow.  Verified Disk Permissions and then repaired.  No big improvement in speed.
What about internet files (safari and firefox) ; caches and cookies?
    Thank you.

    Applejack might help.

    Article on using:
    http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-13727_7-10334620-263.html?tag=mfiredir
It runs in single user mode, where it runs more safely than other maintenance/cleaning programs because there is less chance of interference from the OS. After installing (you won't see it in the Applications Folder) hold CMD-S at startup. You will get a black screen with MS-DOS like text. Just follow the prompts: type in "applejack AUTO" and it will run through the following:
    Correct any Disk problems.
    Repair Permissions.
    Clear out Cache Files.
    Repair/check several plist files.
Dump the VM files for a fresh start.
    Trash old Log files.
You can also run tasks selectively and for specific users by typing in "applejack." After running in "AUTO,"  you can go back and run it again as "applejack," steps 3 & 4 only, for your user.
The first reboot will take much longer than usual, as it rebuilds caches. It may take several restarts to see the benefits. Because of the deep cache cleaning in AUTO mode some applications may tell you they are being opened for the first time.

  • Safari 4.0 is slower to show only the first web site

Safari 4.0 is slower to show only the first web site. Once Safari is open, the first site may take 4 to 5 seconds to show, and Console indicates:
    11/06/09 17:15:09 [0x0-0x99099].com.apple.Safari[1029] Debugger() was called!
Subsequent sites load in just one second or so (and Console does not show any messsage).
If I quit Safari and open it again, the same issue arises: it takes longer to show the very first site (whatever it is) but not the subsequent ones (for which it is quicker), and Console shows a similar string on such very first site (but not the subsequent ones). Other examples of such string:
    11/06/09 17:15:58 [0x0-0x9b09b].com.apple.Safari[1033] Debugger() was called!
    11/06/09 17:15:58 [0x0-0x9b09b].com.apple.Safari[1033] Debugger() was called!
    11/06/09 17:17:06 [0x0-0x9c09c].com.apple.Safari[1036] Debugger() was called!
How to prevent such Console message and make Safari also quick to show the very first page or site after opening Safari?
    Thanks.

Not to get your hopes up, did you ever hear or figure out any resolution to this. I have a (slightly) similar issue passed along from one of my bosses, that when he upgraded to 4.0.2 it started causing issues with FTP logins through Safari. He would have to enter passwords multiple times on the same site. So initial entry worked and then every subsequent event needed a password entry. Just curious if this could be part of your problem. I tried to emulate the problem on my machines and only on the one I have the 4.0.2 update does it happen.

  • Safari browser seems to slow down when working with my wifi ASUS AC 68U router

safari browser seems to slow down when working with my wifi ASUS AC 68U router - any ideas on why?

Is your problem with Safari on the iPad, or some MacBook Air?
Are you sure that the ASUS firmware is tested with the device having trouble and its operating system?
Note: MacBook Airs do not run iOS.  They run Mac OS X, Windows or Linux.

  • Safari 6.1 Suddenly Slowing MacBook Pro to a Crawl

I know that it's risky to blame system problems on particular programs, but here I really fee like it's Safari.
In the past month or so I've been getting the spinning beach ball more and more often, and I can't tell you how many times I've had to Force Quit Safari.
Very rarely, it hangs the computer completely and won't even let me Force Quit anything.
I've repaired Permissions several time and verified my HD -- no problems.
Is there some particularly evil combination of some program interacting with Safari that's causing this? I really have not installed anything weird in the past few months but that spinning ball has become my nemesis!
Oh for the days of DiskWarrior or even good old Norton Utilities . . . I used to be able to defragment my drive with Classic but now it seems that you can't defragment your drive.
Here is a typical list of programs that will all be opened at the same time -- worst case scenario -- as Safari 6.1:
    Photoshop CS 3
    Mail
    SpamSieve
    Sometimes Preview
    Some times TexEdit Pro
    Sometimes iTunes
I'm running OS 10.8.5 on a standard Mid-2012 MacBook Pro bought refurbished from the Apple Store Canada.
    Any ideas greatly appreciated!
    Nick

Whatever you do, don't waste money on "Disk Warrior." It's completely useless if you have adequate backups, which you must have. If you don't have a current backup, back up immediately, before you do anything else. Ask if you need guidance.

I have recently updated to ios6. But safari browser is very slow ,even twitter, Facebook also facing the same problem also cannot accsess to some websites too.

    Try these basic troubleshooting steps.
Quit all apps completely and restart the iPad. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the task bar will appear with all of your recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar. Restart the iPad.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Or .... Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
For Safari ..... Go to Settings>Safari>Clear History, Cookies and Data. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.

  • Images not loading, safari is being very slow.

Since yesterday all images on every website I visit aren't loading and generally Safari is very slow, I have force quited multiple times as well as restarting my macbookpro. I was considering deleting Safari and re-installing it however i'm not sure where I can re-install it from after deleting as it doesn't appear in App Store or online anywhere. Any ideas? Thanks, Anna.
Additional Info: my mac is only about 1 year old, I do have chrome but i find it a lot slower than Safari (until recently).

    No need to delete Safari.
    Safari 6?
    Enable Develop menu
    Safari > Preferences > Advanced
Check mark in the box for " Enable Develop menu".
Click "Develop" menu in the Safari menu bar.
    1. Click  "Empty Caches" from the dropdown.
    2. If there is a checkmark next to "Disable Images" in the same dropdown, click on it remove it.
    Best.
