Safari 7.1 can't display Apple Knowledge Base pages

Here's a strange one:
I routinely visit Apple's Knowledge Base web pages when seeking help for using various OSX tools.
As of a couple of weeks ago, whenever I attempt to visit a kbase page using Safari 7.1, all I get is a blank screen. If I load the same URL into Chrome, the kbase page displays just fine.
For example, I can see this page in Google Chrome but not Safari:
iMovie (2013): Effects and adjustments overview
Am I alone? Is this a weird Safari bug that others have encountered?

  • Safari fails to display Apple knowledge base

I have a recurring problem with Safari (most recent verion, OS 10.10.2).
When I got to knowledge base articles at Apple support (http://support.apple.com/kb/) I get nothing but a blank page; no error message, zippo.
I have to go into Safari Prefs>Privacy>Remove all website data...>Details... find apple.com and delete all cookies, etc for that domain. Then it works.
It's rather annoying; how do I prevent this from happening over and over (aside from using Chrome...)?

Try Safari/Preferences/Privacy and delete the Apple cookie. Still not right, but that does it for me.
Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

Or you can use your Apple ID to register with this site and go the Apple BugReporter. Supposedly you will get an answer if you submit feedback.

  • Apple knowledge base keywords

Hey all, sorry if this is a bit OT, but I figure that fellow server wranglers are often looking thru the apple knowledge base so this would be a good place to ask...
Apple used to have a doc dealing with keywords and their usage within the site, located below, but it is now dead...

I was hoping someone knows where it now lives....

  • I'm Stuck at: Safari can't display content on this page.???

I'm still somewhat new to Apple so bear with me here.
As I use Safari I attempt to listen to a Radio Player online I'm greeted with this message:
Safari can't display content on this page.
Some content on this page requires an Internet plug-in that Safari doesn’t support. The application “Windows Media Player” may be able to display this content. Would you like to try?
I try that also but to no avail.
    Thanks ahead of time

There is no windows media player support for the Intel Macs. MS has dropped support for Windows Media on the Mac platform.
Filp4Mac should have an Intel compatible plugin soon - I have no idea if it will solve this problem, though.

  • Apple Knowledge Base

Being a long time Windows user, I am used to searching the Microsoft/Windows Knowledge Base for answers to technical questions. I can't seem to find a similar site for Apple. I had a problem with the battery, and the Apple tech emailed a comprehensive document to help solve it.
I would love to find a searchable index for these types of issues. Does it exist? Is it available to the user community? Any help wold be appreciated.

    As Niel suggests.
You can also use The "Search Discussions" feature but that doesn't directly take you to the k-base articles, it just takes you to discussions posts that may mention them. It's also somewhat idiosyncratic in the results it produces. Most of the power users of this site I suspect use Google.
Then there's also the user tips library, written by other Mac users helping on this site. http://discussions.apple.com/forum.jspa?forumID=599

  • Can't access Apple's support page in FFox; getting a looped pop-up dialogue box.

    Hi,
When I try to access Apple's support page, there's a 'Welcome back - do you have the same problem as last time?' dialogue box that I can't get past. No matter what I press (Yes or No), the page refreshes and the box comes back.
I have deleted my cache, and gone through every step I can with Apple support over the phone, but the issue still occurs.
    What's the problem?

    This may help;
'''[https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Clear+Recent+History#w_how-do-i-remove-a-single-website-from-my-history Remove History For One Site]'''
Open the History Manager '''<Control><Shift> H.'''
In the search bar, enter the name of the site.
Right click on one of the listings and select '''Forget About This Site.'''
This should remove all information, including any passwords / settings.

  • Safari 5.1 can't display certain PDF files

    Dear Apple fans.
Perhaps someone can put me on the right track since I am nearly loosing my sanity. Last month I downloaded my E-statement from a bank without any problems. These statements require an Adobe Viewer plugin to display in the Safari window. PreView just will not do it. This month for some reason it no longer works.
All that I can think of that changed is that I routinely downloaded various Apple software updates. And I can't tell exactly what was updated but I think to remember that my Mac OS was previously 10.6.7 while it is now 10.6.8. I am not sure if Safari was also from a previous version. The current installed version is 5.1.
    Testing so far:
I removed ALL versions of Adobe including the famous plugins in HD/Library/Internet Plug-Ins as well as the same in User/Library/...
I reinstalled Adobe 9.4 which I had previously installed and which worked.
Checked presdence of new plugin --> OK, but no success when trying to view the statement.
I tried the same approach with Adobe X. Prior to that removing all files from the previous Adobe 9 installation but also here no success.
However, when dragging Adobe formatted files into the Safari window they are displayed OK.
Any suggestions perhaps from people who design the web pages for banks what other plugin might be required? The message I get is always the same: "Missing Plug-In" and when I click on "details" I am directed to the Adobe X download site.
    Your comments are much appreciated.

These statements require an Adobe Viewer plugin
That's going to be a problem unfortunately, with Safari 5.1
Read here >  Apple Safari 5.1 and Adobe Reader/Acrobat Advisory
A workaround according to Adobe is to use another browser.
I personally have found that Firefox works just fine.

  • I have an iphone 5S but i can't download apple apps like pages free

I had bought an iphone 5S and i registered it on apple.com. Now whenever I want to download Apple's apps like Pages, the itunes needs to money transfer and it doesn't free for me to download them by itunes.
What should I do to resolve my problem with itunes?

What problem are you having on your PC's iTunes ? If you are referring to them not showing as free then as far as I know they won't, they will only show as free on devices that are on iOS 7 that were activated after 1st September 2013
    From http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5913 :
The first time you launch the App Store in iOS 7 on your qualifying new or factory-refurbished iOS device, you'll be offered iPhoto, iMovie, Pages, Numbers, and Keynote for free in addition to other free software from Apple.
When you tap Download All and sign in with your Apple ID, the apps will download to your device and appear in your account. If you tap Not Now when you see the offer, you can locate the apps in the App Store and download them one at a time for free. Any apps larger than 100 MB will download only when you're connected to Wi-Fi.

  • Struts can't display the input jsp page

    Hello,
I'm using Struts 1.3.8 to construct a simple user registration system, in which the user could input his info (such as uuname and gpin, both are strings) in a jsp page, and after the submit, the system should go to a success page. I've been stuck at this simple program for three days, could anybody help to find the errors? Thanks a lot.

sorry, the post looks ugly. Does anybody know how to make the indent not disappear?

  • HT2589 how can i use apple id in the iTunes  without credit card

i created an apple id but i can't use it in the Itunes and apple store because i don't have a credit card i don't have money to buy application i want just the free ones what sould i do !!!!!

If you only want the free apps, take a look here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2534
Read the steps carefully as the order in which you follow them is  critical. Note that you can do this only when creating a new Apple ID. You cannot use an existing ID.
You will of course not be able to get anything other than the free apps without entering in some sort of payment method (credit card, prepaid iTunes card, gift certificate, etc.)
    Regards.
Forum Tip: Since you're new here, you've probably not discovered the Search feature available on every Communities page, but next time, it might save you time (and everyone else from having to answer the same question multiple times) if you search a couple of ways for a topic, both in the relevant forums and in the Apple Knowledge Base, before you post a question.

  • Can I set up a home page in safari

How can I set up a home page in Safari on the iPad

There isn't a home page capability in Safari but you can add an icon of a page URL to the Home screen. Touching this icon will start Safari and point it to that URL.

  • Where is the Link to search Knowledge Base?

I was trying to tell another user where to find a link to do a search of the Apple Knowledge Base articles but I've come up empty handed. I looked all over the support page but only find the basic "search" box or two. Where is the one where more detailed searches can be done? Thanks.
    Regards,

    Hey!
    Try:
    http://kbase.info.apple.com/
You can select which category to search with too. (Technical Articles, Manuals etc..) by Model, language etc..Quite detailed
    Hope this helps!

  • New Knowledge base docs for LP X

For everyone here seeking help and/or offering it, there is a whole new set of at least a hundred (100) Apple Knowledge Base docs about LP X. I stumbled upon it, searching for something else. My first impression is that they're very useful and deceptively simply and well written, and a very good source to refer to for specific subjects.
