Safari 7.1 update not recognized

When I open the App Store on my iMac with Mavericks, and click on the UPDATES tab, it tells me that on Sep 20 I installed 10.9.5.  Safari 7.1 was installed on Sep 21, and 2x on Sep 22 and it still wants me to update again.  When I have Safari open and click on "About Safari" it tells me that I still have 7.0.6.  I even restarted the computer to see if that would work but it didn't.  What do I need to do to get this recognized and stop the updated notices from App Store.  Thanks.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Select
          /var/log ▹ install.log
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
          View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen. The contents of the log will appear on the right. Each log message begins with a timestamp. Select the messages from the time of the last installation or update attempt. If you're not sure when that was, click the Clear Display button in the toolbar of the Console window and then try the installation again. Select the new messages that appear. Copy the messages to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
☞ If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don’t post many repetitions of the same message.
☞ When posting a log extract, be selective. Don't post more than is requested.
☞ Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
☞ Please don't post screenshots of log messages—post the text.
☞ Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting. You may need to use a text editor with search and replace, such as TextEdit.

  • Software Update Not Recognizing Needed Updates

On my iMac, I needed to re-install Leopard - following which, Software Update is not recognizing that it needs to update - Safari, Mail, etc. By example, Mail is "stuck" on version 3.1. When Update runs, I get no updates available. I guess all the updated software is in the Previous System folder. What's the best strategy to fix this? - is there a way to reset what Software Update thinks it's already done or should I remove the previous system folder?
    Thanks in advance!

tried permissions - no luck there.
Thanks for the comment re having new & old versions of software - that may be the case, as after re-install of Leopard, the previous system (which in fact has the newer versions of Mail, etc) was saved to a folder.
Sorry, I'm usually more on top of these things - but I'm not really sure how SU works - I'm now assuming that it's finding the newer versions in the Previous System folder - sound right?
As a followup - is there any reason to save the "Previous System" if all is working after a reinstall?

  • 11.1.4.62 itunes update not recognizing ipod touch

Please Help.  Did the update to Windows 8.1 yesterday and now iTunes does not recognize my iPod(s) etc.  I looked in Windows and device shows up but now in iTunes.  I downloaded the new iTunes and reinstalled (Repair) and that did not help.  Anyone have any suggestions at all?

See section 5 of TS1538: iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows.
If that doesn't help it may pay to tear down and reinstall iTunes in the following manner...
Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall press on)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
    Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

HT1923: Removing and reinstalling iTunes for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8

  • Tiger 10.4.8 update not recognized

Aaargh, I could scream...... after several days of trying to download the new Intel 10.4.8 update (internet connection would not hold out the 17 hours required) and after trying all week unsuccesfully I read through the forums it would be better going through Apple so yesterday I changed to the Apple download and successfully downloaded this.....
    http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/macosx1048updateintel.html.
Now after 17 hours it has downloaded and now happily tells me mounting failed as it is not recognized, why oh why?
I have looked at some previous questions and have found a recommendation to download the combo, is this where I went wrong?
I hope I have made sense on this, if I haven't apologies in advance. Can someone please let me know what is wrong.
    Thanks
Btw, my computer is a couple of weeks old and shipped with the 10.4.7 installed if this helps.

Or, if there are no Apple stores nearby in Spain, you could try to find someone or someplace with broadband access that you could use to download the file again. Until then, it generally won't hurt to sit at 10.4.7.
BTW- 17 hours is way too long. I can download the file in 6~7 minutes on cable.

  • 4.1.2 Update not recognizing headphones

I upgraded to 4.1.2 and now the phone is not recognizing when headphones are plugged in. I'm tried several headphones that all work on other devices. I've also ensured that there is no lint in the headphone jack.

    This is just a guess:
Settings->sound-> tap on "Audio effects" make sure it is "ON" ->Speaker-> equalizer->balanced
Settings->sound-> tap on "Audio effects" make sure it is "ON" ->Wired Stereo->Effects profile->Live stage
Settings->sound-> tap on "Volumes" make sure volume is up on all available options, "OK"

  • JDeveloper 11.1.1.4 Update Center - Updates not recognized

I am installing JDev 11.1.1.4 on a brand new laptop. Connected to all the Update Center repositories to download everything out there. The UC goes through the download and application process but does not seem to update my installation. Reason I know this is I return to the Update Center and ALL of the updates I just downloaded and applied are still listed. Barring going and downloading all the updates manually and doing the "install from file" thing, what's the resolution?
Anybody else seen this behavior? It isn't a network connectivity thing as I see all the repositories and updates and it actually takes a while d/l all the updates. Just doesn't seem to be recognized by my JDev as applied.

I think the issue with these is that the min and max versions in the extension files haven't been set properly by the extension developers, so they continue to show up in the UC, even when they may have been installed. I'm looking into it.
The harvestor extension for instance, installs a lot of files in the {ORACLE_HOME}/jdeveloper/harvestor folder, but I don't have a clue what this is really supposed to do so it may very well be installed properly and I just don't know where the interface is located to run it.
The AIA Service Constructor 3.0 is the only one that is publicly released and I just pushed an update from the team that should remove the issue that you're seeing. It does install even though it still shows up in the UC. Take a look at Tools --> Preferences --> Extensions and you'll see it in there.
The other AIA and Guide are from the Internal UC and they can be doing just about anything. Consider that UC beta and you get what you get. :-)

  • Captivate 4 update not recognizing that Captivate 4 is installed

Downloaded the patch but when I run it, the splash screen loads and states that Captivate 4 is not installed on my machine - only option provided is to Quit the update. I'm running this on Windows XP and Captivate 4 has been working fine with the exception of lousy image quality. I wanted to try the update to see if this fixed the graphics issue. I tried the update install from a folder on my desktop and also from the Captive 4 program file folder - same results. Any ideas?

I just ran into this problem with Captivate as well. I uninstalled Flash Player 10.1 by going here: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html
I then downloaded an archived Flash Player here: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/142/tn_14266.html
It seems the main installer does not incorporate the Active-X version of Flash that Internet Explorer needs. There should be several Windows installers in the download. For example, I used Flash Player 10. The following Windows files were in the package:
    •    flashplayer10r45_2_win.exe
    •    flashplayer10r45_2_winax.exe
    •    flashplayer10r45_2_win_sa.exe
Install the first one and second. The second file is the Active-X Flash version (I’m thinking “winax” means Windows Active-X), which Captivate needs to run. I don’t think you need to install the last file (“win_sa”, I’m thinking the “sa” stands for stand-alone).

  • Updates not Recognized as Updated-- help!

    Hello!
I've had this problem for a while now.  My Creative Cloud tells me I have 5 updates. I update them and it says it's done and the "5 Updates" warning goes away. Next time I turn on my computer (has to power down and back on) it tells me I have the same 5 updates.  The details about each update are the exact same, so I know they are not newer updates. I am not totally sure if the updates are failing to install or if Adobe CC is failing to recognize that the updates were installed and I don't need to update anymore.  I apparently have the CS6 family as well as the CC family so I don't know if that is messing it up.
At one point I thought I fixed it by deleting Prelude, that worked for a while, and now the problem is back.  This has held true through an update the the Creative Cloud Manager itself.
You can see in the first picture below that I updated the 5 apps 1 day ago. You can see on the 2nd picture, taken 2 seconds later, that it wants me to update those same apps.
    Please help.

Hi Jeff, I'm on Mac OS 10.8.4
Sorry this is all new to me. I don't see a "Library" folder inside my username. Only as a root in my Mac HD, next to "Users", not inside it, as you see in my screengrab below.
I've tried to makde the fixes to the Permissions, as I understand them, in the root/Library/Application Support.
That folder was listed as "read only" for admin, so I changed that; and I made sure the Adobe folder was "read and write" for admin.
I'm really not sure if I'm doing any of this correctly.  I tried looking in the install log for After Effects... saw the following errors.
I hope some of this works.  Will keep you posted after I turn off/on computer.

  • Updater not recognizing new updates

I've run the Updater and updated 18 apps.  When I restart my computer the Updater notifies me that I still have 18 new apps to download, even though under the Home Tab it indicates that I have just updated the apps it says I need to update. I have logged out and quit the Updater and restarted, but it still tells me I need to update the same 18 apps.  Any solution to this?

  • IOS4 update not recognized on Pioneer vsx 1019 AH Receiver

Just updated my 3GS Iphone w/IOS4 update. However when I plug the iphone to my pioneer receiver I am now receiving message on the pioneer that states - no device or wrong device. I cannot pull up the playlist, video's from my iphone. Is Apple coming out with a fix on the IOS4? If not, can I revert the the OS on the iphone to the previous version?

I was told by Pioneer support (must have been reading these forums?) the same fix using the home button and the on/off switch should resolve the issue that I was having with the receiver not playing after a few minutes (the iPod is still playing...). I tried this and it did not resolve the issue. I'm going back to the Pioneer support to see if they have any other resolutions; but if anyone else has figured out a fix, I would appreciate it!

  • Itunes 7.7 update not recognizing 160GB ipod

I had itunes up with my 160GB ipod connected and fully recognized; the window for the 7.7 update popped up, closed itunes, left ipod connected to computer, upon installing the update and restarting itunes my ipod just flips between being 'Connected' and 'Synchronizing' and results in me having to 'Force Close' the program.

More an update for myself, but after reading several posts by others with the same problem, I've concluded that the # of song files on the ipod is ONE of the key factors. I just finished transferring most of the 18,000+ songs from my older 80GB ipod; after which I emptied it completely. And now when I plug that ipod into itunes it appears almost immediately, while my 160GB is still "Synchronizing" at the moment, about 10-15 mins after I attempted connecting it again... so I'm guessing I'm in for a looong wait until Apple gets the fixed update out.

  • App store update not recognizing my changed e-mail address

Hello - has any one else had a problem using the app store for updates? It recognizes my new e-mail address everywhere except for in the update portion of the program. Because of this issue, I can't update my apps easily.  Thanks for any help you can provide.

If by changed email address you mean that you have created a new Apple ID, you won't be able to use it to update apps from the Mac App Store or content from the iTunes stores acquired with the old Apple ID. Apple does not merge Apple IDs. Only the ID used to originally acquire content can update that content. It was a bad idea to create a new Apple ID just because your email address changed. You could have updated the primary email address and left the Apple ID the same. Now it is too late to do that because you have turned that email address into an Apple ID.

  • Office 2011 14.3.9 for Mac update not recognizing mountain lion

I've tried several times to update to Office 2011 14.3.9, both via auto update and by downloading the update.
    Keep getting the following message-
Office 2011 14.3.9 update can't be installed on this disk. This software requires Mac OS X version 10.5.8 or later.
I am on a 2012 cMBP running Mountain Lion 10.8.5.
I've kept office regularly updated in the past, presently it is 14.3.8
I've tried everything in this thread including the termina suggestion, and none of it seems to work, plus my activity monitor doesn't even show the database and syncservices mentioned in the thread, with all activities selected-
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/18307527#18307527

    Solution to problem found:
Got to looking around, and found this: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5425709?start=0&tstart=0
    The gist is this:
The OS X 10.8.5 update, at least for a lot of folks, made the mach_kernel visible and relocated it to the Documents folder.  It needs to be in the root folder, must be there same folder as system and applications, and it is usually invisible there.
I remembered finding it in the Documents folder and tossing it in the trash.  Fortunately I hadn't emptied the trash yet.  I simply moved it to the root folder, rebooted as added insurance repaired permissions, rebooted again, and now all is well, perfect safe boot and everything.  I never did a safe boot before so had no idea it loped the way it does.  Pretty cool…
As an added bonus, what got me to trying a safe boot was that the latest Office update wouldn't recognize mountain lion, it thought i was running something prior to 10.5.x, so it wouldn't install.  It has now installed perfectly.
Additionally, per the above link/forum thread, I hid the mach_kernel again, with this command in the terminal-  sudo chflags hidden /mach_kernel  which also worked perfectly.
    All is well, yea!
