Safari 7 in mavericks loading pages slow
My safari loads pages slow (not every page). The blue progress bar is stuck at half way. But other browsers like chrome, firefox load the same page fast. And if I turn private browsing on, the same page loads as fast as the other browsers. I have tried every solution I have searched, but still can not solve this problem. any one encountered the same situation?
Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, or by corruption of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled on some models, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. The question is whether Safari is still slower than other browsers.
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of steps 1 and 2.

Safari is not loading pages correctly or even not at all. Help please!
So my Safari is not loading pages correctly, making some have just plain text with no images, and others partially loaded with no images or no video.
Some pages, after trying to refresh, completely refuse to load and say that Safari can't find the server. These pages work on firefox, which is also on the same computer and what I am having to use to type this currently.
I have already reset Safari, as well as disabled extensions (which I didn't have any) and neither has fixed the issue.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks!Hello ddc92,

Safari will not load pages after logging into certain sites
Mac OS X 10.4.11, Safari 3.1 running on a Power Macintosh G4 "Quicksilver" 2002. All software updates are installed.
After I log into certain web sites (Apple Support Discussions being one of them), Safari simply stops loading pages. It will "try" briefly but each page comes up blank. In fact, they don't even appear to download.
This has been going on for a while now. I can't even remember when it started. I have done fresh installations of Mac OS X on to a clean disk to try and solve the problem. This has not resulted in any improvement. I am not using any extensions or modifiers.
As an experiment, I've tried a few Webkit Nightly Builds. Those did not work any better.
On some sites, such as eBay, Safari will put an empty file on the desktop. eBay is a prime example--after I sign in, an empty file called eBayIsapi.dll appears on the desktop.
Seemingly this has been reported other places. What I didn't find was a fix. Is there anything that can be done to resolve this problem?I've just given up after several versions of Safari doing the same thing. It seems to be a bad interaction with Websense web filtering blocking some things that Safari expects to be able to download and process.
I don't even use Safari any more because of this. -
Safari 8.0 loads pages very slow
Why does Safari 8.0 load webpages so slow now that I have installed OS X 10.10 - even the Apple.com page is painfully slow to load.
Please answer as many of the following questions as you can. You may already have answered some of them. In that case, there's no need to repeat the answers.
Have you restarted your router and your broadband device (if they're separate) since you first noticed the problem? If not, do that now and see whether there's any change.
If your browser is Safari, then from the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
and confirm. Any change?
If you're running OS X 10.9 or later, select the Advanced tab in the Preferences window and uncheck the box marked
Stop plug-ins to save power
Any change?
Quit and relaunch the browser. Any change?
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this behavior; it’s normal.
Enable Private Browsing in the Safari menu. Any change?
Are any other web browsers installed, and are they the same? What about other Internet applications, such as iTunes and the App Store?
If other browsers and Internet applications are also affected, follow these instructions and test. Any change?
If Parental Controls is active for any user, please turn it off and test. Any change?
If only Safari is affected, launch the Activity Monitor application and enter "web" (without the quotes) in the search box. If a process named "Safari Web Content" is shown in red or is using more than about 5% of a CPU, select it and force it to quit by clicking the X or Quit Process button in the toolbar of the window. There may be more than one such process. Any improvement?
Open the iCloud preference pane and uncheck the box marked Photos, if it's checked. Any change?
Are there any other devices on the same network that can browse the Web, and are they affected?
If you can test Safari on another network, is it the same there?
If you connect to your router with Wi-Fi and you can also connect with Ethernet, do that and turn off Wi-Fi. Any difference? -
Every time I wake my computer from sleep mode, Safari (and every other web browser, for that matter) takes a good 2 minutes to load a page. I'm connected to a solid Wi-Fi network, and I can access the internet through other apps (I can get email, for example), but I can't load anything through Safari. The loading bar moves across about a 10th of the way, but it stops there for a long time. I have to reload the page several times for it to load anything.
I have tried clearing the cache, disabling DNS prefetching, and even reinstalling OS X Mavericks, but nothing helps. I have parental controls enabled, but with no web filtering option, so I don't see why that would affect Safari. Any help wold be appreciated! Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.

Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.

I'm running 4.0.5 and off and on over the last few months it would just stop loading pages. I have it open up to the thumbnail view of the top sites and whether I would click on one of those or click on a site in the bookmark bar, it just shows it thinking. It doesn't freeze, I don't get the beach ball, it just doesn't load the page. As I mentioned, it has done this off and on for the last several months but it usually fixed itself if I let it sit for a few minutes. Over the last two days, it doesn't matter how long I leave it sit while trying to load a page, it just doesn't work.
Ideas?Welcome to the forums!
(First, if yours is an Intel Mac, check that Safari is not running in Rosetta, which is enough to slow it to a crawl. If you are running Snow Leopard, run Safari in 32 bit not 64 bit. Control click the Safari icon in the Applications folder, then click: Get Info In the Get Info window click the black disclosure triangle next to General so it faces down. Select 32 bit mode)
Do you have enough RAM? Less than 1GB can cause slowness. Is your hard drive too full? Less than 15%, or 15GB, of free space can also cause slowness.
Adding DNS codes to your Network Preferences, should give good results in terms of speed-up as well as added security:
If you are using a single computer: Open System Preferences/Network. Double click on your connection type, or select it in the drop-down menu, and in the box marked 'DNS Servers' add the following two numbers:
208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220
(You can also enter them if you click on Advanced and then DNS)
Sometimes reversing the order of the DNS numbers can be beneficial in cases where there is a long delay before web pages start to load, and then suddenly load at normal speed:
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2296
If your computer is part of a network: please refer to this page: http://www.opendns.com/start/bestpractices/#yournetwork and follow the advice given.
(An explanation of why using Open DNS is both safe and a good idea can be read here: http://www.labnol.org/internet/tools/opendsn-what-is-opendns-why-required-2/2587 /
Open DNS also provides an anti-phishing feature: http://www.opendns.com/solutions/homenetwork/anti-phishing/ )
Wikipedia also has an interesting article about Open DNS:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OpenDNS
Whilst in System Preferences/Network you should also turn off 'IPv6' in your preference pane, as otherwise you may not get the full speed benefit (the DNS resolver will default to making SRV queries). If you want to know what IPv6 is:
This is Apple's guidance on iPv6:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.5/en/8708.html
Click on Apply Now and close the window.
Restart Safari, and repair permissions.
If that didn't do it, then try this as well:
Empty Safari's cache (from the Safari menu), then close Safari.
Go to Home/Library/Safari and delete the following files:
form values
download.plist
Then go to Home/Library/Preferences and delete
com.apple.Safari.plist
Repair permissions (in Disk Utility).
Start up Safari again, and things should have improved.

Safari will not load pages cache access denied
Hi,
I am on 10.7.5 and a proxy server. While tying to get the server to stop asking for my password every 60 seconds and following advice on this forum, something seems to have happened and safari stopped loading pages. The message regarldless of the page is:
Cache Access Denied.
The following error was encountered while trying to retrieve the URL: http://www.apple.com/
Cache Access Denied.
Sorry, you are not currently allowed to request http://www.apple.com/ from this cache until you have authenticated yourself.
Please contact the cache administrator if you have difficulties authenticating yourself or change your default password.
Firefox and Chrome work fine - except they still ask for my password at regular intervals.
I managed to transfer my bookmarks to firefox and am just wondering if this is worth it anymore. DO I really need safari? You cannot even re-install it! You have to do the whole operating system. Or should I migrate to Mavericks and a new upgraded safari? I am fed up of trying endless work arounds that simply do not work for me. Emptying caches, disabling extensions, dumping prefs etc
Any help greatly appreciated!Re trying to get the proxy server to stop asking me for the password, all the steps you recommended which I no longer remember. Something about making sure the proxy settings were in the keychain and open to all applications, then coy to the system keychain. Repair permissions. Tons. Oh and in terminal the following:
sudo launchctl unload -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.UserNotificationCenter.plist
which I think had a major negative impact but I do not know how to reverse it.
I guess I am not advanced to fix these things. Have gone to an internet cafe with normal non-proxy high speed internet and am downloading mavericks now because I am fed up with trying to fix something that never fixes. Safari works here.
Hoping that the uptodate safari will be better. -
Safari will not load web pages, any suggestions???
I've the same problem, Facebook is the only page that load... don't know why !
I'm on Lion 10.7.3 and I even deleted all folders like /Users/XXX/Library/Safari or Internet Plug-ins
I reinitialized Safari too, empty the cache... nothing works !
This is just outrageous ! Does Apple will respond to that ?!!!!!
I switch to Firefox and for now it works perfectly ! .... -
Safari does not load page completely
On some pages, Safari loads pages partially. For instance, if I go to "theweathernetwork.com" (which is a page that contains sub-windows), some times, it loads only the first sub-window of the page and not the entire page. I have to refresh the page several times to get the entire page displayed completely. I have the same problem with other sites. That seems to occur randomly. I could access a site without problem at some time, but if I return to the same site later, I could have the problem explained above. Any ideas for this problem? Thanks.
From the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
and confirm. Test. -
Safari won't load pages, but internet connection is good
For the past 24 hours, whenever I try to reply to an e-mail, or create a new one, mail suddenly crashed. It is very reliable in this way; there are no exceptions. The the newest update/change to my configuration was the update of the 10.4.4 system stuff from Apple, followed a few days later by an update for the 15 in G4 Powerbook battery management.
Also, though not related to mail, the Software Update function does not work - "Can't connect to Update Server", and Safari will not load any pages - "CAn't connect to server...". However, Network Diagnostics says that I am connected to the internet, as does Firefox - it loads pages just fine! All other computers in our home network, including my G5 Tower, are performing and access the internet just fine.Bump
Could this have something to do with the Software Update error discussed in OS X system board? Various sites are off-limits (Network timeout error) such as E-bay; Microsoft etc. while others work fine.
Tried a full re-install etc but nothing - no non Apple apps, clean 10.4.3; purged, repaired etc etc -
I just upgraded from Snow Leopard to Lion...10.7.2 and not my safari will not load web pages...my interent is working fine...the safari acts like it is trying but generally cant load them. every once in a while it will be able to load a page. My other web browser is having no problem so this is specific to Safari. any advise would be greatly appreciated. thanks

OS X Lion--Safari does not load pages. Updated OS X Lion and Safari does not function
I updated to OS X Lion and now Safari does not load any pages.
Actually there would be more than two possible reasons, but I appreciate your input. To answer your questions, YES and YES. All other machines and devices in the vicinity als work flawlessly though have not been upgraded (?) to Lion.
After the install of Lion, Safari stopped working. It loads a page OK then with no movement on my part it goes to a grey screen with the indicated message. I force a reload and it may or may not work, then suddenly goes to the same grey screen again. Over and over again. I haven't lost connection, not have I lost DNS connectivity. The program after upgrade has failed and Safari is telling me in a manner which I have never seen before that it cannot load the page, despite the facxt that it has already loaded and then lost on its own. When I boot from a backup Snow Leopard Disk it reverts to a functional system with Safari Ok. I have removed all remnents of Safari and restored with same problem.
Of course, one cannot go back from Lion and Safari 5.1 will not install on Lion so the problem would seem to be uniquely particular to the upgrade as repeated by many others on the net.
I'm open for suggestions but not accepting the possibility of a software glitch is no help.
Thanks again, -
Safari will not load pages and quits.
I have a MacBookPro5,5 with 8 gigs RAM and a clean/new install of Lion 10.7.4 on a newly formatted and parittioned HD using the GUID partition table. Safari will not open ANY web page. I have also installed both Chrome and FireFox. Both function normally, downloading and displaying web pages without any problems. Mail works fine but Safari opens to no page displayed and will not open any pages. Most of the time, when attempting to open any web page, www.apple.com included, Safari will crash. I've deleted all system items related to Safari and reloaded the current and several previous versions of Safari with the same results. I've also booted from an external drive and used "Disk Utility" to both repair and rebuild permissions on the internal drive. Have also run the current "Disk Warrior" to test the internal drive. Both utilities found no issues on the drive and every other piece of software works as advertised yet Safari refuses to work. I also have a MacBook Air running the exact same version of the OS and Safari and am using it right now to write this. What gives? The more I read about Safari problems, the more I like other browsers that don't have problems.
Redownloaded Safari and installed it and got the same results as the first three times so this is a fresh crash report. Here's the Consule dump you requested:

Just upgraded to Mavericks and now Safari won't load pages
Hi, I just upgraded to OS X Mavericks 10.9.3 yesterday. Prior to downloading the new operating system Safari was working perfectly.
After I finished downloading Mavericks I tried to open Safari but I have kept seeing a message, either the page was not responding or "Safari cannot connect to the server."
My computer says that my Wifi is working, but still I cannot access any webpages. I can only access them through my ethernet connection.
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time.
Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of Steps 1 and 2.
