Both. Always good to have two browsers installed. If one browser isn't functioning as it should, you have the other browser installed to use for troubleshooting.
I use both. I don't see any difference in scrolling.

• I can open Safari, Finder and Google Chrome ( my default browser) but they do not display on my iMac. Evidently they are minimized somewhere but I can't figure out how to maximize them. This has been a problem ever since I down loaded Mavericks.

When I open Safari, Finder or Google Chrome (my default browser) they do not displayanywhere on my iMac.
Tthey are minimized somewhere but how can to maximize them.
I can't say for sure this is related to Mavericks but the problem began shortly after dowloading Mavs.
Any suggested fix?

Hope the following helps to make things clearer.
When I left click Safari or Google Chrome in my Dock, neither expands. When I then right click wither one in teh Dock, a dialog box pops up which gives me the option to close them, which implies that they are in fact open.
In other words, when I left click on Safari or Chrome in my Dock, nothing visibly changes on my Desktop. Indeed, neither Safari not Chrome are listed as the active window in the menu bar. If I do the same with Finder, at least Finder shows up as active in the menu bar but that's all. Finder itsef is not accessible and so I cannot use it.
On the other hand, I ahve no problem opening up Paralles 9 for Mac to access Windows/Explorer which is what I have done to send this note to teh Apple Communities Forum. Nor do I ahve a problem opening up any of my other programssuch as Office for Mac, etc.
I suspect this may be mavericks related but can't say for sure.
Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Open System Preferences > Flash Player then select the Advanced tab.
Click Delete All under Browsing Data and Settings
Not empty the Safari cache.
From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Advanced tab.
Select: Show Develop menu in menu bar
Now click Develop from the menu bar. From the drop down menu click Empty Caches.
Now try a video.

iPod will not play any music. Seems like it is in “Pause” mode. No sound from either the head phones or internal speaker. I have 418 songs stored and none will play. I have tried resetting, turning on and off the iPod, etc. but to no avail.

Try restoring from backup. Next would be a restore to factory defaults/new iPod.

Right-click on your main iTunes folder and click Properties, then go to the Security tab and click Advanced. If necessary grant your account and system full control to this folder, subfolders and files, then tick the option to replace permissions on child objects which will repair permissions throughout the library. This is the XP dialog but Windows 7 shouldn't be too different.

• Safari 4 vs Google Chrome

Why does my Galaxy Nexus use Apple Safari 4 as the default web browser as opposed to Google Chrome?

I wasn't sure about the browser so I asked the question on the Google mic and several responses came back saying it appeared the browser was Apple Safari. The reason I'm asking is Gmail provides two different display modes depending on the browser. If not using a fully supported browser, some of the functions will not work, e.g., spellcheck, keyboard shortcuts, etc.
I think you answered my question. That is, the default browser is "Browser." I guess I don't really need to know the specifics.
No, I did not download Safari, but I did download Google Chrome and Firefox and opening Gmail in each to see how they respond.
Thanks again,

• When i zoom in google chrome, the paragraphs are resized to adjust without horizontal scroll. can this be done in safari?

when i zoom in a website while viewing in chrome, there is less chance of the horizontal scroll. but the same page in safari leads to lot of horizontal scroll.
vertical scrolling is ok while reading, but not both.

yeah smart zoom is definelty good, thanks for the quick response, i feel home by getting such quick response.
but may be few cases i felt chrome has done some good tweeks while zooming the paragraph. may be when i find specific pages i will post them.
actually i like safari, but previous favorite was chrome. so wanted to get some best things from there.

• Should I bother testing my sites on Google Chrome (as well as IE, FF, Safari)?

Or is it still too early?

It won't hurt. The question you have to answer is should you
try to
correct for any problems you see there. (FWIW, I haven't seen
any
problems there that I didn't see in other browsers.)

• I just bought an ibook pro and want to download a browser like google chrome which I am familiar with. Safari just seems to be a lot of icons for shopping and I would like to disable it and put something more functional in its place. How do I ?

I thought I just posted this question but maybe not. I'm going from a PC to an iBook and am trying to customize it. Can I add a browser like google chrome or even foxfire and disable safari? Safari jst seems to be an app store. Thnaks

It sound like you did something wrong. Try another download and install.
Download of Chrome
https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/95346?hl=en
Direction to install
Download the installer file
Open the file called "Google Chrome.dmg" after it's downloaded.
In the window that opens, drag the Chrome icon to the Application folder. This installs Chrome for all user accounts on your computer. Your home page settings and browser history will automatically be imported from your default browser.If you don't have administrative rights, drag the icon to a location on your computer where you do have rights, such as your Desktop. Chrome will only be installed for your user account.
The first time you open the browser, the Finder will ask you to confirm that you want to open the application downloaded from the Internet. Click Open to continue.
You'll see a message letting you know that you can search with Google directly from the address bar (also known as the omnibox). If you'd like to change yourdefault search engine, click Change.
Unmount the Google Chrome disk image on your Desktop by dragging it to the Eject icon in the Dock. (Make sure you're dragging the disk image and not the Google Chrome application icon.)

• Why have I lost access to Safari? I also have Google Chrome, but when I choose to use Safari, an error message comes up.

I have both Safari and Google Chrome on my MacBook Air. I have been using both until recently.
When I now click on Safari I get a message that says
404. That’s an error.
The requested URL /ig?hl=en was not found on this server. That’s all we know.
So I resort to Google Chrome. But I'd like to continue to have access to Safari. Is this a bug? Incompatibility all of a sudden? What do I need to do to have Safari functioning again?
I

This is what I started getting when blue search items also stopped turning violet in Google. I got a message that my browser did not support Google, or that Google did not support my browser. It said I ought to upgrade my browser which I declined to do. I use OS X 10.6.8 and Safari 5.1.10.
I get it every time I open Safari now.

• Should I use google chrome on my macbook pro?

Firstly what exactly is google chrome and is it better than safari?
If so is it just as safe and fast as safari?

With the possible exception of IE (which you don't have to worry about), any browser is as safe as the person using it. Since you're the same person, the browsers are going to be pretty equal from a security standpoint.
As for performance, the are both based on the same WebKit core, so the differences are likely to be in memory utilization and JavaScript execution.
Tom's Hardware recently ran an extensive browser comparison where Safari was crowned the Mac winner, but personal preference plays a part, too. Personally I use Safari for 99% of what I do.

• Scroller slow in Google Chrome

I have a horizontal Flex SDK scroller, with content that is very wide. This doesn't present a problem in firefox or safari, but in Google Chrome(on the mac, haven't tested on PC) the movement is very jerky. I can't imagine how to resolve this in the code, if the result is inconsistent between browsers all I can think of is perhaps Google Chrome has a known problem with memory management or something similar... But then other people should be seeing this problem, and I can't see any other posts regarding it. Has anyone encountered this problem?
Regards,
Craig

Here's a simple example:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<s:Application xmlns:fx="http://ns.adobe.com/mxml/2009"
xmlns:s="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/spark">
<fx:Script>
<![CDATA[
import mx.collections.ArrayList;
public function getDataProvider(n:int):ArrayList {
var arr:Array = new Array(n);
for (var i:int = 0; i < n; i++)
arr[i] = i;
return new ArrayList(arr);
]]>
</fx:Script>
<s:Scroller width="500">
<s:DataGroup dataProvider="{getDataProvider(10000)}">
<s:layout>
<s:HorizontalLayout useVirtualLayout="true" />
</s:layout>
<s:itemRenderer>
<fx:Component>
<s:ItemRenderer>
<s:Button label="{data}" />
</s:ItemRenderer>
</fx:Component>
</s:itemRenderer>
</s:DataGroup>
</s:Scroller>
</s:Application>
Notice that even with 10,000 items in the dataProvider the startup time is minimal since there are only 6 ItemRenderers in view at one time so only a few more than that need to be created.
