Safari 7 not scrolling

My Safari 7 in Mavericks has stopped scrolling using my magic mouse.  I have even tried with a wired mouse and it will not scroll.  The only way it will scroll is with the keyboard, or if I click and drag the screen up or down.  Chrome and other browsers scroll but not Safari 7.1.  I have tried disabling extensions to no avail.  Please let me know what to do to fix this, or please update to fix the issue.  tHanks.

If you're using iCloud, uncheck the box marked Safari in the iCloud preference pane and see whether there's any improvement.

  • Safari not scrolling to bottom of webpage

I have noticed that safari seems to stop allowing scroll down to the bottom of some web pages - no apparent rhyme or reason, but the side scroll bar refuses to let it scroll beyond a certain point - often cutting off pictures and/or text. Has anyone else seen this? and if so, is there a fix?
    Thanks

HI and Welcome to Apple Discussions...
From the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Empty Cache. When you are done with that...
From the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Reset Safari. Select the top 5 buttons and click Reset.
Go here for trouble shooting 3rd party plugins or input managers which might be causing the problem. Safari: Add-ons may cause Safari to unexpectedly quit or have performance issues
Since you are running Snow Leopard, if you are running Safari is opening in 32-bit mode, try 64. Right or control click the Safari icon in the Applications folder, then click: Get Info In the Get Info window click the black disclosure triangle next to General so it faces down. Select 32 bit mode. Also, (in that same window) *make sure Safari is NOT running in Rosetta.*

Web pages now include a small icon or 'favicon' which is visible in the address bar and next to bookmarks. These icons take up disk space and slow Safari down. It is possible to erase the icons from your computer and start fresh. *To delete Safari's icon cache using the Finder, open your user folder, navigate to ~/Library/Safari/ and move this file "webpageIcons.db to the Trash.*
If Safari still crashes, go to the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari/Preferences. Make note of all the preferences under each tab. Quit Safari. Now go to ~/Library/Preferences and move this file com.apple.safari.plist to the Desktop. Relaunch Safari.

  • Safari Not Scrolling Properly

I am having problems on both my MacBook Pro and mac mini 2011 since the update.  Safari is unusable on both.  If I attempt to scroll with my pad it mangles the page into many different segments.  I have had to switch to Chrome and Firefox.....not good.  Anyone else having this issue.

  • Safari not scrolling & sometimes unresponsive

    Recently on my Intel iMac (but also on my Mac Book Pro) safari has had a couple of problems;
    1. Scrolling stops working at all - the only way around it is to refresh the page you are on.  It appears to be at random (in that I haven't found a common time or website that it happens to).
    2. Mainly on 'app' style / heavy websites (HTML5 etc), safari becomes unresponsive in the sense that you can't click on clickable items.  The mouse pointer doesn't turn into the hand which usually signifies something is clickable.  This is generally resolved by restarting safari, or simply reloading the page.
I don't know if they are related, but it's becoming a real problem.  Has anyone got any way to fix this?
I'm using Lion 10.7.3 on the iMac.
    Thanks in advance
    Ewan

Bradley, I'm talking about this one.  It was started six months ago, and the original poster has never returned.  So start your own new topic, and tell us just exactly what's happening with your Mac, what version of Safari you're running, and what your OS is.  We'll keep and eye out for you.

  • Just installed Safari on PC.  MS wireless mouse will not scroll on most pages; will scroll on history section of homepage.  Any explanation?

  • Safari anchor tag not scrolling to correct position

I run a vBulletin forum and I noticed that Safari running on 10.8.2 OSX or Safari Mobile running on iOS 6.1 will not scroll to the correct anchor. This link should scroll to post #10:
    http://www.southbayriders.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10730&p=235955#post235955
The reason I have concluded is that the vBulletin software does not include the width and height data in the img information. If I disable images in Safari the link above will properly scroll to post #10.
I tried changing the code in vBulletin to include the width and height data, but that caused a problem with the Zoom function in browsers.
All other browsers besides Safari will scroll to the correct anchor even if img tags don't include the width and height data.

Have you tried resetting your device?
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

  • Using safari 5.1.2 on a pc and mouse does not scroll any window

Hi, I just installed Safari on a PC version 5.1.2 and so far I prefer it over all the other browsers out there except for one major issue: any window I open will not scroll down or up with the mouse wheel. I have to drag the window bar up or down and its very annoying. Any Ideas?

mouse works fine on all other browsers ( IE, FF, Chrome) and inside windows and all games. but not in safari. i have to use the scroll bar on the far right side.
i was reading other posts and saw something called iFrames. do i need to installl iFrames maybe?

  • Mouse not scrolling while on safari

    Hi,
I have an Apple Magic Mouse working perfectly, but not scrolling while using Safari (works fine on Firefox etc). I can't find settings on Safari to fix it...
    Can anyone help with this?
    Thanks

From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Privacy tab.
Click Details then type facebook in the search field then remove all facebook related items.
Now empty the Safari cache. Press Command + Option + E on your keyboard.
Quit and relaunch Safari. Try accessing your Facebook page.
If that didn't help, click History from the Safari menu bar then click Clear History.
Quit and relaunch Safari and try Facebook again.

  • IPhone Simulator will not scroll

I've the latest Xcode, Mac OSX, and Safari. When I use the iPhone Simulator to test a Drupal website I've developed the simulator will not scroll any of the pages. I'm using a MacAir with no mouse. What do I have to do to scroll?

I suspect you have the Voiceover accessibility feature turned on. The easiest fix is to connect your phone to iTunes. Select the "Configure Universal Access" button in the summary pane and turn Voiceover off.

  • Trackpad will not scroll imac

I bought a new iMac last year and was busy so I didn't use it much. Along with a trackpad and a wireless mouse. The mouse works as expected however the trackpad will not scroll a Safari Window.
It will scroll when connected to my 5 year old Macbook. I took the trackpad to an Apple store and it worked fine on the geniuses laptop there.
It just doesn't scroll a windwo on my iMac. I have experimented with the settings endlessly but it just doesn't scroll. I tried calling tech support and they said take it to the apple store which I did. I just now noticed that in a safari window the slide bar disappears when I use the trackpad. but reappears wheh I use the mouse.
I  hope I don't have to lug the entire computer back to the Apple store. It seems like a software issue to me. Any suggestions welcomed here.

how do you try to scroll ?
some people are used to trackpads scrolling when they move their finger out in the right side or the likes
with newer macs one scroll by placing 2 fingers beside eachother and moving them up and down

  • Some web pages will not scroll after update7

Recently was FORCED to update my Ipad if I wanted to use podcasts. Now, some webpages will not scroll down and lockup. (safari)
Never had this problem before update.  So I purchased another browser, (atomic) and it does the same thing.
(and I dreaded update due to bugs!)

To be specific, a news website AL.com
I can scroll the main site, but if I open a news story, it opens and locks. Yes, I have rebooted, hard reset.

  • Safari cannot scroll up and down.it is 'frozen'

Safari. Can open an adress on safari however the page is ,grey, and will not scroll up and down. It is completely frozen, so i cannot use internet at all. Any ideas what to do?

Start with the third suggestion in this list - the one about resetting Safari.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Reset Safari. Go to Settings>Safari>Clear History, Cookies and Data. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Quit Safari and restart. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Quit/close open apps by double tapping the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus (-) sign in the upper left corner to close the apps. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.

  • Iframe not scrolling to content below set height in IE9

Because iframe height of 100% didn't render correctly (in any browsers) I chose a set height (600px) in which to display my clients' property listings within one of their site pages.
All works reasonably all tested browsers (double scroll bars in Chrome and Safari -- div and iframe -- despite that the div isn't set to have such, but I can likely fix that); IE9, though, is nonfunctional:  In IE9 I get a Y scrollbar, as defined, however it does not scroll past content that fits into 600 pixel iframe height.  That is, is does not scroll to show the rest of the iframe page.
I have tried separately defining x and y scrollers as well as simply calling for scrolling in general; no luck.
I have been searching for hours for a fix, and have tried every combination of style coding to the iframe itself as well as the overall style sheet (to the div).  I also read the soure for the page rendered in IE9, and the style coding was as I'd written it.
It has to be a simple fix, or others would be having this IE9 issue, too, right?
Have even added <meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=8"> to the header; didn't change anything.
Anyone know what is going on -- and how to fix it?
I apologize for how jumbled both the CSS and source code is for this site.  If I were recreating the site today, I could do a much cleaner job.
    Here are a few tries:
    http://cbm1.com/retail_property_listings/costar.html
    http://cbm1.com/retail_property_listings/costar3.html
This version (more info in the CSS, less inline) gets rid of the double scrollers in Safari and Chrome (while still working in FF) but still the same doesn't-scroll-beyond-the-600px-iframe-pane-height issue in IE9.  Tried moving the meta directive toward IE8 to immediately above the body tag as well as first meta tag on the page; neither resulted in any IE9 rendering change:
    http://cbm1.com/retail_property_listings/costar4.html
Happy to simply paste the inline + CSS coding alone in this window, if that's easier for anyone.

  • Track pad not scrolling after 10.9.5 update

My trackpad is not scrolling correctly in specific programs.  It gets held up, i need to scroll up and down to get it started.  It is not working in my online school program but works fine on other safari pages, like this one.  Any suggestions to fix this.

I have been working with support through this issue.  They most recently had me rename the bluetooth plist file and the SystemConfiguration folder and then reboot.  This resolved the issue for me.  I have provided my before and after bluetooth plist file and SystemConfiguration files for their analysis.  They are significantly different.  Hopefully, they will figure out how to address for those impacted by this way by the 10.9.5 upgrade.
Here are the file and folder that I backed up:
    $ sudo mv /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration.broken
    $ sudo mv /Library/Preferences/com.apple.Bluetooth.plist /Library/Preferences/com.apple.Bluetooth.plist.broken
    Then restart the system.
Of course, removing the SystemConfiguration folder resulted in me having to go back and re-configure all of my system configurations like Networking, Power Management, ...  But at least the Magic Trackpad is working again.
    Hope that helps you!

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.
