Safari 7 per site zoom

I was waiting for this feature in Safari 7 but still missing..
Firefox does, Chrome does... I would like to use safari because its great features, but is not usable (for me) in a little screen without this feature. It cannot be so dificult to remember the zoom level for each website!
CSS template, zoom extensions and similar patches are not the solution: try them in Gmail, for example, and you will see how the page does not adapt to the window as when you use cmd+.
Is there any reason for not implementing this feature? Please think on it as an accesibility feature...
Thank you
Oscar

I've been asking Apple for this feature for ages but to no avail, so don't hold your breath. It's a problem on large screens too. It's ridiculous that you could buy a beautiful new 27-inch iMac and end up having to ditch the browser that comes preinstalled on it because of a lack of such simple functionality.

In Safari, my iMac sometimes zooms way too much and will not zoom back.  I have a wireless mouse set to zoom in and out on double tap, but the excessive zooms happen with no taps.  A page zooms in so less than 1/4 of the page is visible and nothing I do will zoom back out, command minus doesn't do it, double tap on mouse does not zoom out, and the window will not scroll to show any of the rest of the page.  reloading the page does not help.  Loading a different page gives me a normal view again.

If it were a tweaked setting, it should happen less randomly.  And there should be no settings that could override the zoom setting in unversal Access and the Mouse zoom preferences.
In addition, this only happens in Safari 6, and seems to happen more fredquently on some websites and not on others.  That suggests some sort of conflict in the site code with Safari and Apple wireless mouse code.  It does not happen in Mail, Word, Excel, Photoshop, Illustrator, or other software as far as I can tell.

My macbook pro is running very slow with some strange mouse and window movements. The trackpad is very unresponsive and when responding the cursor moves on its own and/or very erratically. When on safari the window suddenly zooms in or highlights words and looks them up via dictionary. I currently have a wireless mouse connected and I am still having the same problems.
I fee like I may have a virus or my laptop is perhaps being accessed remotely. All of the sharing options are unchecked.
    HELP PLEASE
    Very worried!!

Try these in order testing your system after each to see if it's back to normal:
    1. a. Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM
        b. Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
    2. Restart the computer in Safe Mode, then restart again, normally. If this doesn't help, then:
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the
COMMAND and R keys until the Utilities menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and
after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears.
Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    3. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
Reinstall the 10.9.2 update: OS X Mavericks 10.9.2 Update (Combo).
    4. Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks: Reboot from the Recovery HD. Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks from the Utilities menu, and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.
Reinstall the 10.9.2 update: OS X Mavericks 10.9.2 Update (Combo).

Safari 6.0 page zooms in (even if I'm not touching the mouse) how do I zoom back out?

I turned off zoom in sys pref so hopefully that will help… but when it zooms in huge "on its own" you have to use the back button to go back to normal size as the double tap doesn't work but half the time the back button is greyed out so you have to close the window and start all over which is a pain in the … so why is my back button doing this. It will do this on a page that I used the backbutton on previously?

  • More than 1 SMP per site

Can we have more than 1 SMP per site?suppose I have 1 primary site with 2 secondary site, is it possible to have more than 1 SMP for USMT per site?. One of customer have around 40 distribution points and they are expecting to have same DPs as SMP as well
i.e. 40 SMPs....Any pointers will be appreciated. Thanks
    regards,

To add-on to Jason, there has been a little change since R2 (at least according to the documentation):
Prior to System Center 2012 R2 Configuration Manager, all site system roles at a secondary site must be located on the site server computer. The only exception is the distribution point. Secondary sites support installing distribution points on the site
server computer and on remote computers.
Beginning with System Center 2012 R2 Configuration Manager, the state migration point can also be installed on the site server computer or on a remote computer, and can be co-located with a distribution point.Reference:

  • Why does Safari's Top Sites open when I click on View in iTunes?

For some reason, whenever I click on a link in Safari that requires another application to open, (iTunes for example), now a new browser window opens to Safari's Top Sites page.  It appears to have started after the recent update. Anybody else having this problem?  Is there a solution?

From the Safari menu bar, select
              Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
Turn all extensions OFF and test. If the problem is resolved, turn extensions back ON and then disable them one or a few at a time until you find the culprit.

  • Firewall GPO per site system

    Hi
I am setting up a detailed GPO for firewall opening needed per site system. Is there a good overview of how to configure a firewall GPO for server 2012 R2 per site system role?
For example I need to configure a dedicated GPO for the distribution point role. Or I need to configure a dedicated GPO for the site server. All of my roles are on individual servers.
    Thanks!

How you configure the required ports is all up to you (and/ or your company standards). The ports required by ConfigMgr are described in detail here:

  • My MacBook Pro won't load any websites on Safari (except this site, Facebook and Google), Opera, or Mozilla Firefox. I already did the "Reset Safari", restarted the computer half a dozen times, and I can't find this alleged "caches.db" file to delete.

My MacBook Pro won't load any websites on Safari (except this site, Facebook and Google). Opera and Mozilla Firefox won't load any sites whatsoever. I already did the "Reset Safari" several times, restarted the computer half a dozen times, and I can't find this alleged "caches.db" file to delete. I virus scanned the computer with Sophos, Avast, and iAntiVirus and it looks clean.

Is iAntiVirus the best virus protection to use for a MacBook?
The best anti-virus protection is your own common sense, and what you already bought and paid for with your Mac. Third party products such as "iAntiVirus" convey no additional benefit, and as you already determined are very capable of causing trouble.
OS X already includes everything it needs to protect itself from viruses and malware. Keep it that way with software updates from Apple.
A much better question is "how should I protect my Mac":
Never install any product that claims to "speed up", "clean up", "optimize", or "accelerate" your Mac. Without exception, they will do the opposite.
Never install pirated or "cracked" software, software obtained from dubious websites, or other questionable sources. Illegally obtained software is almost certain to contain malware.
Don’t supply your password in response to a popup window requesting it, unless you know what it is and the reason your credentials are required.
Don’t open email attachments from email addresses that you do not recognize, or click links contained in an email:
Most of these are scams that direct you to fraudulent sites that attempt to convince you to disclose personal information.
Such "phishing" attempts are the 21st century equivalent of a social exploit that has existed since the dawn of civilization. Don’t fall for it.
Apple will never ask you to reveal personal information in an email. If you receive an unexpected email from Apple saying your account will be closed unless you take immediate action, just ignore it. If your iTunes or App Store account becomes disabled for valid reasons, you will know when you try to buy something or log in to this support site, and are unable to.
Don’t install browser extensions unless you understand their purpose. Go to the Safari menu > Preferences > Extensions. If you see any extensions that you do not recognize or understand, simply click the Uninstall button and they will be gone.
Don’t install Java unless you are certain that you need it:
Java, a non-Apple product, is a potential vector for malware. If you are required to use Java, be mindful of that possibility.
Java can be disabled in System Preferences.
Despite its name JavaScript is unrelated to Java. No malware can infect your Mac through JavaScript. It’s OK to leave it enabled.
Block browser popups: Safari menu > Preferences > Security > and check "Block popup windows":
Popup windows are useful and required for some websites, but popups have devolved to become a common means to deliver targeted advertising that you probably do not want.
Popups themselves cannot infect your Mac, but many contain resource-hungry code that will slow down Internet browsing.
If you ever see a popup indicating it detected registry errors, that your Mac is infected with some ick, or that you won some prize, it is 100% fraudulent. Ignore it.
Ignore hyperventilating popular media outlets that thrive by promoting fear and discord with entertainment products arrogantly presented as "news". Learn what real threats actually exist and how to arm yourself against them:
The most serious threat to your data security is phishing. To date, most of these attempts have been pathetic and are easily recognized, but that is likely to change in the future as criminals become more clever.
OS X viruses do not exist, but intentionally malicious or poorly written code, created by either nefarious or inept individuals, is nothing new.
Never install something without first knowing what it is, what it does, how it works, and how to get rid of it when you don’t want it any more.
If you elect to use "anti-virus" software, familiarize yourself with its limitations and potential to cause adverse effects, and apply the principle immediately preceding this one.
Most such utilities will only slow down and destabilize your Mac while they look for viruses that do not exist, conveying no benefit whatsoever - other than to make you "feel good" about security, when you should actually be exercising sound judgment, derived from accurate knowledge, based on verifiable facts.
Do install updates from Apple as they become available. No one knows more about Macs and how to protect them than the company that builds them.
Summary: Use common sense and caution when you use your Mac, just like you would in any social context. There is no product, utility, or magic talisman that can protect you from all the evils of mankind.

I open safari and one site takes me to their app in the store automatically.  How can I prevent this?

some sites that use flash (or other issues) dont want you trying to view the site in your browser on an ios device, because they know it will not be a good experience - they detect your device, and if it is an ios device  they want you to use their app instead of your browser.

  • How can I uninstall the Safari extension "Facebook Photo Zoom?"

    Hello,
How can I uninstall the Safari extension "Facebook Photo Zoom?"
    Thanks,
    lenms

Sorry, den.thed, I've looked 'til I'm blue in the face!  There is but ONE radio button--the "Install Now."  Once you've clicked on it and the extension installs, that same radio button greys out and you can (barely) see the word "Installed" on it, and there is no other button available (see the image below.)
I've never seen software where you could not uninstall an extension.
    Thanks,

  • Pass flag --process-per-site to Chromium

I want to pass this flag everytime I start Chromium.
    chromium --process-per-site
I want this change to persist on package upgrade, which in turn overrides .desktop file. How to do that?
    I am using Gnome Shell.
Last edited by technolog (2015-02-28 20:14:37)

You could run it through a script.
    #!/bin/bash
    chromium --process-per-site
Say you call your script run_chrome. You then make it executable and instead of pointing your icon to the chrome executable you point it to run_chrome.
When you click the icon in the future you will run your script and you got what you wanted.
    That's what I would do.

  • Total Workflow Associations per Site

    Greetz!
We are planning our SharePoint 2013 Enterprise On-Premise Farm. We are relying heavily on a Nintex Workflow 2013 product which has a dependency on the 2010 Workflow Platform.
Looking over SP2013's Boundaries and Limitations I see that the total workflow associations per site is limited to 1799 and being a boundary it is a static limit (actually a limit within the Service Bus that WF uses).
Does this apply only to workflows that are running in the 2013 Platform?
Is the document using "site" as in SPSite or is this a limitation on the number of SPWebs with a workflow association?
Is the limitation 1799 instances of the same workflow or of all workflows running on the container?
What happened to the SP2010 Boundaries and limits? If these limitations are for the 2013 Workflow Platform only then are the limitations for the 2010 Workflow Platform the same as they were in 2010? EDIT: I discovered that these settings were not published
    in the 2010 edition.
    Thank you!
    Love them all...regardless. - Buddha

    Hi,
Workflow for SharePoint 2013 is on different platform with SharePoint 2010.
In SharePoint 2013, the Service Bus supports a maximum of 1,799 subscriptions per scope. This maximum value includes the sum of both published and unpublished associations. This is in boundary limit type which cannot be exceeded by design.
Please refer to the link below for workflow limit in SharePoint 2013:

  • Safari becomes unresponsive after zooming on a rMBP

On my 2.3GHz MacBook Pro w/ Retina, 16gb memory and a clean install of Mountain Lion, Safari becomes unusably unresponsive after smart-zooming on some pages.
    Here is an example:
    http://www.forbes.com/sites/nathanvardi/2012/07/27/mark-zuckerbergs-big-facebook -mistake/
After smart-zooming on the article body, Safari stops responding for a significant amount of time.
I have tried on 1440, 1680, 1920, and 2880 width resolutions. Also, I do not have any extensions installed, not even Flash.
Is anyone else seeing the same issue?

Unfortunately, I have not found any solutions to this issue.
My guess is that zooming in Safari uses a strategy similar to pixel-doubling on the rMBP. So when you try to zoom to 200%, it actually creates a web page double in size, then limits the viewport to the size of your Safari window. When you couple that with the retina's pixel-doubling, a 960px width webpage might actually require 3840px of processing behind the scenes.
I might be way off in that explanation, but that's how sluggish it feels on certain web pages.
Additionally, the web page itself can contribute to the problem, depending on how optimized the code is. For example, smart-zooming on the Facebook feed seems ok, while any article on Forbes.com will stutter horribly.
