Safari 8 Favorites bar contextual menu missing?

I used to be able to right click on a blank spot on the favorites bar in Safari and it would give me the option to add a folder.  Did this get removed from Safari 8 or am I missing something?

Hi ..
Try this instead.
From the Safari menu bar click Bookmarks > Add Bookmark Folder

  • AppleScript Editor Contextual Menu Missing

I'm running Mac OS X 10.4.9 and I've just started using AppleScript. I read about the Script Editor contextual menu but I don't have it. When I control-click on the Script Editor window, there are no special commands in the contextual menu. I trashed the Script Editor preferences but that didn't have any effect. Any clues as to why I don't have the Script Editor contextual menu? Thanks.

The problem is solved. I finally found where the needed scripts were stored (in /Library/Scripts/Script Editor Scripts) and I copied them from an old backup partition (System 10.4.2) to my new partition. I have no idea why they weren't on my boot drive (or two other backup partitions with 10.4.9).

  • Contextual Menu Access to Services

I would love to be able to CTRL-Click on something in Safari and have a contextual menu that includes Services - Mail.
The method is to go under the Safari menu and select Services then Mail then the choice. More pointing and clicking than I would like to do.
Does anyone know of a shortcut?
    Thanks.

Um, you posted in the Using iTunes for Windows forum. You might want to post in the Leopard forum.

You can make a Safari keyboard shortcut for any item in any of Safari menus including this one.
    go to system preferences->keyboard&mouse->keyboard shortcuts.
click on + and make a new shortcut. Choose "safari" as the application and "Send Selection" as the Menu Title.
Now to invoke it you just select whatever you need in safari and enter your keyboard shortcut.

  • Developer menu missing (safari 4.0.1)

    Hi,
I've installed pure Leopard 10.5.6, upgraded to 10.5.7, installed safari 4, and the Developer menu (with great inspector and all things) is just missing. Where can I activate it please?

    Safari Preferences/Advanced.
Tick the box 'Show Develop Menu in menu bar'.

  • Can not delete Fox news icon from Safari Favorites Bar, keeps coming back

I can not delete "Fox news" icon from Safari Favorites Bar. Dogpile Search engine also.  Both keep coming back with icons upon new opening of Safari.
I have removed these icons from the Book Mark files and Favorites Bar menu and any reference in the LIbrary and replaced them with less spammy evercookie news and search engines 3 times to no avail.  I just upgraded Safari (April 2014) and it made no difference. These sites represent the paradigm I
no longer am putting energy into nor want which is why I have rid these increasing more corrupted and cookie agressive sites.  But now.....
they won't let me go!!  Any one no how?

Thank you for trying but no not the problem.  Had the same problem with Iphone 4S.  Would not connect to my mail server and tried to send me to fraudulent website in the UK/England.
I did a restore to factory restore to the phone with upgrade to newest operating system, my was up to date until OS 7 as I heard there were problems.  Now it has OS 7.
Neither I nor verizon could get the phone up and connected for service again.  Taking phone to
    apple store on Tues.
I am suspecting the "heart bleed"  vulnerability.

  • Can I have my Safari Favorites bar back?

Safari no longer has a Favorites bar. A side column of bookmarks is NOT a "bar" and takes up space in the window. If I want a full-sized window but want to access my Favorites, I have to keep clicking back and forth to get the Favorites to show up. Is there a way to get the Favorites back in a true top Bar? If not, can Apple make this an option in future upgrades? This is a step backward IMO.

Favorites should be available in full screen mode if that is what you are are referring to.
"Favorites back in a true top Bar?"
The top bar is referred to as the title bar, not Favorites.
Troubleshoot Safari extensions and third party plug-ins.
From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab. Turn that OFF, quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that helped, turn one extension on then quit and relaunch Safari to test until you find the incompatible extension then click uninstall.
If it's not an extensions issue, try troubleshooting third party plug-ins.
Back to Safari > Preferences. This time select the Security tab. Deselect:  Allow all other plug-ins. Quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that made a difference, instructions for troubleshooting plugins here.

  • Safari contextual menu problem

    Hi
I've done a search and checked through all the responses but none have worked.
I can get the contextual menu up for everything in Safari except for when I CTRL click on an image. No menu comes up.
The status bar in Safari says 'display a menu for......' but no menu appears.
    I'm completely at a loss!

    Hi,

What have you tried so far? There's not much point us suggesting things you've already tried

  • Missing Favorites Bar for finder

After getting an error from itunes(error 54). I had to repair disk permissions. Now the section that has airdrop, applications, desktop, music, pictures...etc is gone. I cant add it from finder preferences either. All I can add is stuff from devices, and shared, but not favorites. I tried to delete the finder plist, but i cant find it

    Back up all data.
Triple-click the line below to select it:
    ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.sidebarlists.plist
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
    Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item selected. Quit the application if it's running. Move the selected item to the Desktop, leaving the window open. Relaunch the application and test. If there's no change, quit again and put the item you moved back where it was, overwriting the one that may have been created in its place. Otherwise, delete the item you moved.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C). In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V). You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

Safari problem:  when I switch back into safari from another application, the menu bar comes up but no tabs or windows.  What's going on?  Just started yesterday.  I have found a workaround: when I Command Tab back to safari, I hit command T to open a new tab and Command W to close it, and my other tabs are visible.
I have tried shutting down, closing tabs, with no success.  What's going on and how can I fix it?
    Thanks,

PS:  I'm not sure of the actual OS level, but I have not allowed it to upgrade to Maverick yet; concerned about it because of a few things I've read...

A Safari extension or third party plugin may be causing the menu bar issue.

As for which OS X is installed.
Click the Apple () menu top left in your screen. From the drop down menu click About This Mac.
    The version is noted there.
v10.6 Snow Leopard v10.7 Lion  v10.8 Mountain Lion
It's your choice whether or not to upgrade to Mavericks. If you decide to do this, make sure your Mac meets the requirements noted here.

  • I have problems with the Safari contextual menu

It disappears after a while, and the only thing left is Copy image, Download image and some more. Save image as, and Open link in a new tab etc. is gone. It comes back for a short while if I empty cache, and restart Safari, then it disappears again.
What should I do? This is quite annoying....
    Peter

    Peter...
Check Safari / Preferences - Extensions. If you have any installed, turn that off, quit then relaunch Safari.
And from the menu bar click Safari / Reset Safari. Select the top 7 buttons, click Reset.

  • Bug Report: 10.1 Missing item in a contextual menu

    Logic Pro X 10.1
Mixer Window > right click on channel strip to open context menu > Channel Strip Components > the list is missing an entry for "Midi effects".

Yes, I can see what you're saying, and no, it makes more sense this way. Example: an audio-only project. See what happens when an instrument track is added.
And the "it's global" argument is not valid imho. It's a contextual menu. That context is: wherever the mousepointer is when rightclicking.
After adding a Software Instrument track:

  • Contextual menu strings missing

When I right click in safari, many of the strings of text are not found.
instead of the contextual menus, it says:
    localized string not found
    open link in new tab
    localized string not found
    add link to bookmarks
    localized string not found
    help!

It's a little unclear to me what you mean by the "selection box for the trackpad contextual menu". Do you mean a check box that's in the Keyboard & Mouse System Preferences under the Trackpad tab? There are several check boxes there, exactly which one are you asking about?
Remember, the version of Mac OS X 10.4.6 that comes with the MacBooks is different from the version of Mac OS X 10.4.6 that would be installed on a MacBook Pro, for example. It's actually newer and has a couple of additions like the "Place two finders on the trackpad and click button from secondary click" option.

  • MIssing Contextual menu Items Folder?

I'm having trouble in iphoto, and it comes down to a contextual menu that is "missing" in my library...can anyone help?

    Which one exactly?
Is it actually missing, like not in one of these...
    /Library/Contextual Menu Items

    Or just not usable/selectable?

I wish to remove "Show sidebar" and "Show Top Sites" from the Favorites Bar in Safari 7.0. How may I do so?

I aggree It's rather annoying that you can't remove these features when like me you never use them, however by far the most annoying part of this is that when you go into 'Customize Toolbar' you can actually add yet a second 'Show Top Sites' feature to the toolbar !! Even those people who actually want to use this feature don't require two of them. For crying-out-loud come on Apple, this has to be a joke right?!?
