Safari, a1, or atomic web browser??

Safari is a great browser on the iPad, but I was beginning to read about a1 browser which just came out and even an older one called atomic. I tried the atomic lite version and really thought it was interesting since I am a big "tab" user on my pc and Mac. the two features I am looking for in a browser is 1) to post a link from the browser to Facebook and Twitter etc... 2) tabs
Have you tried any browser beyond safari? If so, which one and what do you prefer? Also, are these the only choices we have so far or do you know of any other browser?

iCab looks promising. It has tabs (and there's also a Mac versions).

  • Atomic Web Browser -- How to set as preferred browser instead of Safari?

I recently installed the Atomic Web Browser on my iPad.  However, whenever I tap on a link outside this app (in an email, for example), the Safari browser is activated.  Is there a way to make the Atomic Browser the preferred browser so this won't happen?
    Thanks in advance!

Not at the moment no, there is no way to change it from Safari. You can try leaving feedback and maybe it'll happen in a future release : http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipad.html

  • Atomic Web Browser - Lost Bookmarks

I've been using this browser for a while now and I've more or less fallen in love with it. The tabs are much more Chrome-ish than in Safari (making them 100 000 times better in my book) and it really seems designed around the touch-screen interface. I did notice some slight bugs and even a few crashes, but this was only when I would try and open 15+ Tabs supimultaneously.
Just today though, I don't know what I did, the browser went and deleted all the bookmarks I had put on it. I couldn't find anyway to transfer my desktop bookmarks from Chrome, so I had to do it the old fashioned way, one at a time... I hadn't assembled my entire collection, but I had a working set of resources going. And then this happens! It's very frustrating because I don't know if he might go and do it again.
I was playing with the privacy and password settings. I gave it a try, thinking it would be cool, but I decided to remove it after a while. Imputing a code every time I open the app was getting annoying. And right after I did, all my bookmarks were gone. The strangest this is that I tried to reproduce the effect (to make sure it was the password or privacy settings that did this) but the bookmarks stay fine this time! I have no idea what caused it.
Has this ever happened to anyone else?

Select Safari from the pop up menu where you see:  Default web browser

  • RichTech's Atomic Web Browser Missing From The App Store

Can anyone please check and see if they are able to locate and download this alternative browser on their iPad? I'm with a friend and we were trying to load apps on their new iPad and if you click on an outside link or try to search for it you get no results. It's like it's missing from the App store entirely.

Looks like Atomic Web browser was pulled from the App Store due to the use of private APIs in violation of Apple's policy:

  • Can I use Safari as my main web browser and Firefox when Safari isn't supported?

Can I use Safari as my main web browser and Firefox when Safari isn't supported?

    www.apple.com/support/safari
Also use the User Agent and see if that works on those sitess.
Safari keeps a lot of web history and cache on disk and it tends to be RAM hungry (even FF has gotten a big larger on RAM footprint)
There are other browsers and sometimes Opea is a good choice or there is OmniWeb which I still after 10 yrs? still favor.

  • Safari billed as full web browser...but with no flash support!!!!!

    To : Trevor Smith
First of all, can you try to confirm it's just a affected user profile or it's the fault for mac operating system? Try creating a new user account, then open Safari, go to the website. See what happens from there. If the new user is able to access the website correctly, then it's most probably the previous user account is affected.
To try to resolve the affected account, you will need to locate the "com.apple.safari.plist & "org.mozilla.firefox.plist" files? It should be located somewhere in this folder ; user/Library/Preferences. Note : if the user account you are using is created as Trevor, then it's Trevor/Library/Preferences. Locate the files named "com.apple.Safari.plist" & "org.mozilla.firefox.plist". Delete and trash completely. Logout of the machine and re-login again. Open Safari, and try the affected website again. See if it resolves the issue now.
Another thing to check, is your internet configuration. Make sure you are not bypassing any proxy server, as you do not need to do any bypass of the proxy servers.
    Keep me update, alright?
    Cheers

  • Hi i am using macbook pro with mountain lion os x.From a coupe of weeks i m facing the problem with my wifi bcz in safari or any other web browser through wifi i m not  getting the enough speed but in my windows i m getting 2-3 times faster speed....help

help me in this regard........i m facing a lot of difficulties

I think this is a router problem, not a problem with the Mac.
I can join other networks just fine, I can see packets being sent to and from the router by other computers...
The router accepts my WEP key and assigns me an IP, but nothing more after that. I've reset the router through the button on the back and software reset to defaults. Nothing helps. Other computers can join the network, but some of our other notebooks cannot connect to the router, so it's not just a mac problem.
So I'm going to mark this as answered... thanks for you help M@C$4l!f3

  • Safari Web Browser has stopped working.

Have been happily using Safari as my primary web browser, but now I repeatedly get this error message. I have trie repairing it and deleting/reinstalling to no avail. Really would like to get safari back as its so much better than IE/Firefox.

another oddity is that another user on the PC can use safari perfectly well.
Not sure what is causing it.

  • How do I setup Safari to be my default browser for Mail?

I am using an iMac with Yosemite 10.10.2, Safari is 8.0.3, Mail is 8.2.  Somehow, awhile ago, I set up my default browser as Firefox 35.0.1, and have been satisfied with it.  Lately I have become unhappy with the way it responds to some clicks.  I would like to try Safari, though I might miss some features of Firefox.

Open System Preferences > General then select Safari from the Default web browser:  pop up menu.

  • Is Safari the only web browser supported on the iPad?

Just wondering if Firefox works on the iPad or ONLY Safari?

There is no Firefox for the iPad, but there are other browsers available in the App Store (just search for browser) e.g. Atomic Web, iCab, Mercury, Skyfire

I downloaded an update for my Safari web browser to "snow leopard". When I click on the .dmg file, a window opens up with a .pkg file but when I click on the .pkg file I get a prompt saying that it doesn't know what program to open it with.

I suspect if you're trying to open a file in 08 that's been opened in 09 the file has been updated to 09 and will not open in 08.

  • Safari doesn't open, computer without other web browser

Safari does not even open, simply quits unexpectedly within a few seconds. I have no other web browsers downloaded.

There is no need to download anything to solve this problem.
If Safari crashes on launch and you don't have another web browser, you should be able to launch Safari by starting up in safe mode.
You may have installed the "Genieo" or "InstallMac" ad-injection malware. Follow the instructions on this Apple Support page to remove it.
Back up all data before making any changes.
Besides the files listed in the linked support article, you may also need to remove this file in the same way:
    ~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.genieo.completer.ltvbit.plist
If there are other items with a name that includes "Genieo" or "genieo" alongside any of those you find, remove them as well.
One of the steps in the article is to remove malicious Safari extensions. Do the equivalent in the Chrome and Firefox browsers, if you use either of those.
After removing the malware, remember to reset your home page in all the web browsers affected, if it was changed.
If you don't find any of the files or extensions listed, or if removing them doesn't stop the ad injection, then you may have one of the other kinds of adware covered by the support article. Follow the rest of the instructions in the article.
Make sure you don't repeat the mistake that led you to install the malware. Chances are you got it from an Internet cesspit such as "Softonic" or "CNET Download." Never visit either of those sites again. You might also have downloaded it from an ad in a page on some other site. The ad would probably have included a large green button labeled "Download" or "Download Now" in white letters. The button is designed to confuse people who intend to download something else on the same page. If you ever download a file that isn't obviously what you expected, delete it immediately.
In the Security & Privacy pane of System Preferences, select the General tab. The radio button marked Anywhere  should not be selected. If it is, click the lock icon to unlock the settings, then select one of the other buttons. After that, don't ignore a warning that you are about to run or install an application from an unknown developer.
Still in System Preferences, open the App Store or Software Update pane and check the box marked
Install system data files and security updates (OS X 10.10 or later)
    or
Download updates automatically (OS X 10.9 or earlier)
    if it's not already checked.

  • I have an iPod Touch and am going on a cruise where I have been told that I won't be able to use Safari so I should download Firefox.  I found "Mercury Web Browser" Firefox at the app store.  Is this what I need? I'm leaving on Sept. 3rd.

I have an iPod Touch and am going on a cruise where I have been told that Safari won't work on the ship so I need to download Firefox. My iPod said that Safari cna't download it from the Firefox website.  I found "Mercury Web Browser" Firefox, in the app store (free) and am wondering if that is what I need?  Help, I'm leaving on Sept. 3/12.  Thanks.

    - I never heard that but it may be true. It could be that for some reason Safari can't be used to log into the network. Once logged in, Safari should work fine
    - However, I see nothing that say the Mercury Web Browser is Firefox. I would contact the cruise line and ask if and how you use the ship's['s wifi for an iPhone or iPad (it will apply to iPod touch)
