Safari Always Opens the Same Two Pages.

First off, I'm running Lion on my computer. So every time I open Safari in the last month or so, it always opens up to the same two pages: Macrumors, and some Netflix movie page I looked at once. No matter how many times I close these two pages, navigate away from them, close them and start with a completely new window, when I quit Safari, it's always them that open up. It completely disregards what I had open before (its supposed to open up to the pages I was last on when I quit). I know its not because they are set to my homepage. I have facebook set as that, and I just checked, so it's not like these two somehow got in there. I don't know what the deal is here, but it's starting to bother me. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Back up all data.
Triple-click the line below to select it:
~/Library/Saved Application State/com.apple.Safari.savedState
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu. A Finder window should open with an item selected. Quit the application if it's running. Move the selected item to the Desktop, leaving the window open. Relaunch the application and test. If there's no change, quit again and put the item you moved back where it was, overwriting the one that may have been created in its place. Otherwise, delete the item you moved.

After solving some issues with JSP deployment, we are getting another error message.

I mean this is a concurrency problem.
Any information about this will be really appreciated.
    Best regards!!!!!
    Francisco Mtz.

After running the BI_Checkconfig tool I got an inconsistent OLAP API Metadata
result, it was because a partner was modifying the OLAP metadata without saving
    the changes.
After saving the changes in the OLAP metadata, I ran the BI_Checkconfig tool
again with success (no metadata errors).
Now the pages are displayed without any error message.
    Best regards!!!!

This is part of Lion's Resume feature (I assume you are on Lion).
A couple of things you can do: System Preferences>General and deselect 'Restore windows when quitting and re-opening apps'.
Also when you shutdown or restart make sure the following is unticked:

  • I have a MacBook Pro (purchased in 2011) with OS X Lion 10.7.4.  I'm using Microsoft Office 2011 and cannot open older PowerPoint Files (non .pptx). It will always open the same .pptx file and then the machine hangs up and just keeps spinning.

Thank you - that all makes sense. It is, indeed, exactly what I did when I upgraded.
I'm also writing this on the machine that crashed a few minutes ago (I posted the crash in another thread). I got back with a 'safe boot' - as I have done a few times before.
I've also de-installed little snitch (and then done a safe-boot & then re-boot ) since that seemed involved. I de-installed Adobe flash, since that seemed to be a problem - I then re-installed the later, apparently fixed, flash. The most recent crashes don't seeme to have a problem with flash any more.
I've posted the various ( generally different ) crashes. I also posted a summary of the similar lines that turn up in most of the crashes.
Unfortuantely, I'm actually trying to use the machine to meet some urgent deadlines and all this is not making it at all easy.
I had had great hopes for 10.7.2 - I thought that the crashes must be pretty common, so would have a common aetiology. There do seem to have been some fundamental changes to the file sytem and to the video interface (that seems to cause problems to brand new iMacs as well as to my 2009 iMac).

  • Whenever I click one of my bookmarks (not all), it always opens the BBC News page and not the original target page. Any clues anyone please?

In fact I just tried another and it opened the Yahoo home page. All the bookmarks in the Bookmarks Toolbar work fine, but anything outside of that doesn't. Mostly it opens the http://news.bbc.co.uk.
Any help would be much appreciated.
    Jeff

A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

  • Safari automatically opens the same page repeatedly bis

Hello, I read somewhere about this issue with a similar title but I didn't see a way to react.
So I'm here with my question: after updating Pinterest (a message appeared on the screen with the question to update) my browsers repeatedly open the iTunes Pinterest app page.
This is very anoying. Even with the browsers closed, Safari opens automatically and opens that particular page.
Does anyone know how to solve this please?
Many thanks on beforehand for a reply,

  • Safari automatically opens the same page repeatedly

I just spent the last hour searching this forum for solutions and I found one. I just can't find the original post with answer to mark it as helpful! I also lost the Apple Support Link but if you search 3rd part add-ons, the solution is there. In my case, I downloaded the Pinterest Pin It App. Today I went to use it and it opened my browser with the iTunes Store App page for Pinterest. From there, it continued to open it repeatedly for the next hour (every 5 seconds).  When I quit the app and uninstalled it, the problem was solved. Good luck to you all!

When you log out, (SHIFT COMMAND Q) uncheck "reopen last windows when logging back in"

  • My 3510 Deskjet always prints the number two page first instead of number one why ?

Can this problem be corrected and how.

    Hi @pingjim
You should be able to find the option to change the Page Order in the Preferences. If you do not see it under the layout tab as seen below, please check in the Advanced options.
If you have checked the printer preferences and do not see the options there please let me know. Also please let me know which program you are printing from.
If you do not see this option, please post a screenshot of your Layout tab so I can see what is there and what is not.
    Please use the following links to take and attach a screenshot on the forums;

    I hope this helps.

  • How to retrict user cannot open the same form more than once (Forms 6i)

Our users always open the same forms more than once. For example the customer form, the user may access a customer record in the first form, however, he will open a new customer form to edit the same record, the result is he cannot save the record because the record is locked in the first customer form.
How can I control the user cannot open the same form more than 1 time.
    Best Regards,
    Kane

The customer form is only an example, I found there will cause a lot of problems is I cannot control the user from calling 1 program more than 1 than within application. Sometimes a user (not good in using computer) will overlap the form for many times.....
Is there any simple way to do that?...can I have some PL/SQL statement or build-in functions that let me easily found our what forms the user has already opened, then I can control whether I let him open this form or not.
    Urgent...please
    Thanks

From the Safari menu bar, select
    Safari ▹ Preferences ▹ Extensions
Turn all extensions OFF and test. If the problem is resolved, turn extensions back ON and then disable them one or a few at a time until you find the culprit.

When I start Safari 5.1 in Lion, it always opens the last page opened.  Is there a way to start on the homepage?

That sounds great, but on my system, that box is not at the bottom of my Pref/General page, but is when I log out and put it to sleep.  What is really annoying is that I have to do this every time, instead of unchecking it and it being permanent.  Yes, I have Safari 5.1 and Lion.  I would like to permanently disable this as I too, think it is absurd and not a great idea when banking, paying bills, etc.

  • I cannot leave the first page of a series of slected websites 1, 2, 3 and so on, I always return to the same first page.

When searching an item with Google, a page full of websites is presented, with on the bottom of the page a choice of more websites on the following pages: 1 2 3 4 5 (all with underscore).
When I try to click the next page, always the first page is presented.

    Quit Safari.
Open the Library folder in your home folder as follows:
☞ If running OS X 10.7 or later, hold down the option key and select Go ▹ Library from the Finder menu bar.
☞ If running an older version of OS X, select Go ▹ Go to Folder… from the Finder menu bar and copy the line below into the text box that opens:
    ~/Library
Delete the following items from the Library folder:
    Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db
    Preferences/com.apple.quicktime.plugin.preferences.plist
    Preferences/QuickTime Preferences
    Relaunch Safari and test.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ If you’re running OS X 10.7 or later, open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the page that opens.
Select "/var/log/cups/error_log" from the file list. Post the messages from the time of the last printing attempt.
Post the log text, please, not a screenshot. If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don’t post many repetitions of the same message.
