Safari and Awesome Screenshot Extension Problem

Hi Everyone,
I have a problem with Safari and extension Awesome Screenshot.
The problem is, when I try to make a screenshot, instead of asking me to upload or save picture Safari just give's a blank page with my most visited websites.
It looks like something wrong with the Safari as I have also such problems when I try to launch others apps that being launched through Safari or when I try to download some torrents.
How to make it work properly?
Thanks for the answers in advance.
Boris

"Awesome Screenshot" is adware and on the edge of being a trojan. If you installed that, and if you also download torrents, then there's a good chance you're infected with other malware.
1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem. But with the aid of the test results, the solution may take a few minutes, instead of hours or days.
Don't be put off merely by the seeming complexity of these instructions. The process is much less complicated than the description. You do harder tasks with the computer all the time.
2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. Backup is always a must, and when you're having any kind of trouble with the computer, you may be at higher than usual risk of losing data, whether you follow these instructions or not.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
3. Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. As I wrote above, it changes nothing. It doesn't send or receive any data on the network. All it does is to generate a human-readable report on the state of the computer. That report goes nowhere unless you choose to share it. If you prefer, you can read it yourself without disclosing the contents to me or anyone else.
You should be wondering whether you can believe me, and whether it's safe to run a program at the behest of a stranger. In general, no, it's not safe and I don't encourage it.
In this case, however, there are a couple of ways for you to decide whether the program is safe without having to trust me. First, you can read it. Unlike an application that you download and click to run, it's transparent, so anyone with the necessary skill can verify what it does.
You may not be able to understand the script yourself. But variations of the script have been posted on this website thousands of times over a period of years. The site is hosted by Apple, which does not allow it to be used to distribute harmful software. Any one of the millions of registered users could have read the script and raised the alarm if it was harmful. Then I would not be here now and you would not be reading this message.
Nevertheless, if you can't satisfy yourself that these instructions are safe, don't follow them. Ask for other options.
4. Here's a summary of what you need to do, if you choose to proceed:
☞ Copy a line of text in this window to the Clipboard.
☞ Paste into the window of another application.
☞ Wait for the test to run. It usually takes a few minutes.
☞ Paste the results, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page.
The sequence is: copy, paste, wait, paste again. You don't need to copy a second time. Details follow.
5. You may have started the computer in "safe" mode. Preferably, these steps should be taken in “normal” mode, under the conditions in which the problem is reproduced. If the system is now in safe mode and works well enough in normal mode to run the test, restart as usual. If you can only test in safe mode, do that.
6. If you have more than one user, and the one affected by the problem is not an administrator, then please run the test twice: once while logged in as the affected user, and once as an administrator. The results may be different. The user that is created automatically on a new computer when you start it for the first time is an administrator. If you can't log in as an administrator, test as the affected user. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this section doesn’t apply. Don't log in as root.
7. The script is a single long line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, though you may not see all of it in the browser window, and you can then copy it. If you try to select the line by dragging across the part you can see, you won't get all of it.
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:

Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
8. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste by pressing command-V. The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
9. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "Syntax error" or "Event not found," enter
exec bash
and press return. Then paste the script again.
10. If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important. If you don't know the password, or if you prefer not to enter it, press the key combination control-C or just press return  three times at the password prompt. Again, the script will still run.
If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
11. The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, there will be nothing in the Terminal window and no indication of progress. Wait for the line
[Process completed]
to appear. If you don't see it within half an hour or so, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, close the Terminal window and report what happened. No harm will be done.
12. When the test is complete, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
At the top of the results, there will be a line that begins with the words "Start time." If you don't see that, but instead see a mass of gibberish, you didn't wait for the "Process completed" message to appear in the Terminal window. Please wait for it and try again.
If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
13. When you post the results, you might see an error message on the web page: "You have included content in your post that is not permitted," or "You are not authorized to post." That's a bug in the forum software. Please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.
14. This is a public forum, and others may give you advice based on the results of the test. They speak only for themselves, and I don't necessarily agree with them.

  • Why are my installed extentions on FF 5.01 suddenly not showing up in the add-ons window tab (to change preferences), even though the extentions (like Google toolbar and Awesome Screenshot) are visible on the FF interface?

My Google toolbar was working fine earlier this morning. A few hours later, the search window stopped opening new tabs. I did some snooping and discovered that none of my extension add-ons were showing up in the add-ons tab. However, the appearance and plug-ins are still listed. When I click on the Extensions tab there is just a small box that says "You don't have any add-ons of this type installed." However, my Google toolbar, Add Blocker, and Awesome Screenshot etc. is still visible in the FF interface. When I try to uninstall the Google toolbar using the options button on the toolbar itself, nothing happens. What's up?

    Same solution as dplavin. Thanks!
Afterwords there were some changes in Add-ons that were enabled/disabled that then had to be straightened out.
I disabled Test Pilot which was in the process of testing thinking that it might have had something to do with the problem. I have not updated to the latest version of 5.0 because one favorite Add-on [Firegestures] is supposed to be incompatible.

  • Safari and Merriam-Webster podcast problem

I am having trouble with Mail, Safari and Merriam-Webster's Word of the Day audio downloads. When I click on the play podcast icon, the quicktime icon appears -then changes to player mode, but will only play for a few seconds and then it stops. Same problem in Firefox. Have reinstalled Quicktime, and upgraded to 10.5.5, but I am still having the same problem. I cannot figure out a solution.

I had the same problems and also have a d-link. this is what i did to fix it
I have had Safari, Mail and any other program that access the net
work fine for 5 hours ( and very fast ). I can not take credit for this as i read
it in another post. It involves adding DNS Servers to your settings. I went to
www.dnsserverlist.org and it gave my 3 DNS servers that r close to me.
I then added them in my network Preferences - advanced - DNS - +. I
added all three after the one that was allready there. hit ok and apply.
I hope this works for you. good luck.
i did this 2 weeks ago and have not had a problem since
It has been reported in other post that this did not work for everyone
    that tried it good luck!

  • ACE20 and TLSv1.0 extensions problem

    Hi,
I have a problem with an ACE20 running software version A2(2.3) [build 3.0(0)A2(2.3)].
We have a simple load-balancing arrangement for two Apache webservers. All we do is pass HTTP and HTTPS traffic through to one of two servers. we don't do SSL termination or initiation on the ACE - just passthrough.
We now have a requirement to support connections that only use TLSv1.0 with no fallback to SSLv3. If I use IE8 the connection works. If I use IE9 or FF19 then the connection fails. I've traced this to the use of TLS extensions in the ClientHello packet - which came after the TLSv1.0 RFC. IE8 doesn't send extensions whereas the other browsers do.  I can replicate the problem with the OpenSSL s_client application. What surprises me is that the ACE checks the structure of the TLS negotiation even though I'm not asking it to make decisions about it. I can see why this would be done as a security feature if the ACE implemented a strict RFC2246-compliant server - the extensions having bee added post-RFC.
Is there any way to tell the ACE to forward SSL packets and not worry too much about the contents? I've checked all the Release notes and can't find any relevant caveats.
    Thank you
    Cathy

    Hi Ajay,
Disabling normalization made no difference. I thought it might help, but I think it only looks at the gross structure of the packets and doesn't worry about RFC2246 compliance.
The relevant parts of the configuration are shown below:
    rserver host web-web1
      ip address a.b.c.d
      inservice
    rserver host web-web2
      ip address a.b.c.e
      inservice
    serverfarm host FARM-web2
      rserver web-web1
        inservice
      rserver web-web2
        inservice
    sticky ip-netmask 255.255.255.255 address source FARM-web2-Sticky
      timeout 99
      replicate sticky
      serverfarm FARM-web2 backup FARM-sorry
    class-map match-any L4VIPCLASS
      2 match virtual-address x.y.z.t tcp eq www
      3 match virtual-address x.y.z.t tcp eq https
      6 match virtual-address x.y.z.t tcp eq 81
    policy-map type loadbalance first-match LB-POLICY
      class class-default
        sticky-serverfarm FARM-web2-Sticky
    policy-map multi-match L4POLICY
      class L4VIPCLASS
        loadbalance vip inservice
        loadbalance policy LB-POLICY
        loadbalance vip icmp-reply active
        loadbalance vip advertise
    service-policy input L4POLICY
As you see, the configuration is about as simple as it can be.
    Kind Regards

  • 100% wireless, yet safari and itunes have a problem...

    Hey fellow mac users,
I have the newest generation iMac, and a d-link wireless N router, so you'd think all signs are go, yet sometimes, safari (3.04) decides it doesn't want to open a page, say youtube.com or apple.com for example. Even if i clear the cache, i can't open this page. It just keeps saying safari cant find the server, no matter how i try to get to it.
I open up Network diagnostics, still, everything is perfect, i have strong signal, yet safari decides it just doesnt want to open 1-5 different sites, no matter what page on the site it is.
Also, the iTunes store works totally fine, fast page changes and everything, yet when i try and click on a free tv show or podcast or movie for example, it just says error connecting to store. Yet network diagnostics is fine, ichat is working , along with safari.
what do i do? anyone experienced this?

  • JWSDP and complex type extension problem

    Hy,
We got a problem with JAX-RPC reference implementation. It seems it doesn't support inheritance beetween complex types as web services parameters or return value. A Parse exception happens when client code deserializes base class members. Does anyone know about this problem ? We don't have it with Apache Axis implementation (on client side). In our case, server code always runs in C++ with gSOAP.
    And the stacktrace :

  • Safari and Dynamic Images onResize problems

Hello everyone! I am a "budding" developer and I have found a
unique problem that I cannot seem to find an answer to. I have
    built a flash site here:
    www.robertovalenzuelaphotography.com
    - once it loads, go to the portfolio section. If you are using
    Safari, (All the
thumbnails have to load as of this post for the first picture to
load - i'm working on it!) the image doesn't appear correctly - it
gets badly distorted - although it is anchored in the right
coordinate, it is sized weird. I am using an onResize() listener to
change how big the portfolio area is so the images loading into the
box are sized appropriately. Is there a known issue with the Stage
object and coordinate systems with Safari? Please help! - this site
works in Netscape on Mac - I haven't been able to test it in
Firefox. PC - works fine in IE and Firefox.

Before somebody asks- yes, I tried clearing the cache

  • Mackeeper "pop-up" on Safari and chrome (virus?)

    Hi everyone,
I have a problem with my browsers (both safari and chrome). The problem is that there are "pop-ups" on many sites that try to make me download mackeeper.
These "pop-ups" are green hyperlinks on the words of many sites. When I pass my cursor on these pop-ups without cliking, it opens a little window that tell me to download mackeeper.

I have never download mackeeper! I don't know where it comes from.
Can someone help me please to totally remove this ugly thing?
    Thank you

    1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem.
All it does is to collect information about the state of the computer. That information goes nowhere unless you choose to share it. However, you should be cautious about running any kind of program (not just a shell script) on the advice of a stranger. If you have doubts, search this site for other discussions in which this procedure has been followed without any report of ill effects. If you can't satisfy yourself that the instructions are safe, don't follow them. Ask for other options.
    4. You may have started the computer in "safe" mode. Preferably, these steps should be taken in “normal” mode. If the system is now in safe mode and works well enough in normal mode to run the test, restart as usual. If you can only test in safe mode, do that.
    PATH=/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/sbin; clear; Fb='%s\n\t(%s)\n'; Fm='\n%s\n\n%s\n'; Fr='\nRAM details\n%s\n'; Fs='\n%s: %s\n'; Fu='user %s%%, system %s%%'; AC="com.autodesk.AutoCAD  com.evenflow.dropbox com.google.GoogleDrive"; H='^[[:space:]]*((127\.0\.0\.1|::1|fe80::1%lo0)[[:space:]]+local|(255\.){3}255[[:space:]]*broadcast)host[[:space:]]*$'; NS=networksetup; PB="/usr/libexec/PlistBuddy -c Print"; A () { [[ a -eq 0 ]]; }; M () { find -L "$d" -type f | while read f; do file -b "$f" | egrep -lq XML\|exec && echo $f; done; }; AT () { o=`file -b "$1" | egrep -v '^(A.{16}t$|cann)'`; Ps "${1##*/} format"; }; Pc () { o=`grep -v '^ *#' "$2"`; l=`wc -l <<< "$o"`; [[ l -gt 25 ]] && o=`head -n25 <<< "$o"`$'\n'"[$((l-25)) more line(s)]"; Pm "$1"; AT "$1"; }; Pm () { [[ "$o" ]] && o=`sed -E '/^ *$/d;s/^ */   /;s/[-0-9A-Fa-f]{22,}/UUID/g;s/(ochat)\.[^.]+(\..+)/\1\2/;/Shared/!s/(\/Users\/)[^/]+/\1-/g' <<< "$o"` && printf "$Fm" "$1" "$o"; }; Pp () { o=`$PB "$2" | awk -F'= ' \/$3'/{print $2}'`; Pm "$1"; }; Ps () { o=`echo $o`; [[ !     Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste (command-V). The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
    8. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "syntax error," enter
    exec bash
and press return. Then paste the script again.
In that case, close the Terminal window and report the results. No harm will be done.
    11. When the test is complete, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
    12. When you post the results, you might see the message, "You have included content in your post that is not permitted." It means that the forum software has misidentified something in the post as a violation of the rules. If that happens, please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.
Note: This is a public forum, and others may give you advice based on the results of the test. They speak only for themselves, and I don't necessarily agree with them.

  • Appearance of iWeb 2.0.2 pages in Safari and other browsers

I guess this question has been posted several times before because I can't find the relevant search terms to limit the number of answers to a reasonable count. Thus, sorry for the repetition (if so).
Is there a way to amend the appearance problems of iWeb 2.0.2 pages in Safari and other browsers?
    Problems are:
Safari: color management (?) - take a look at this site: http://shivaduo.jan-groh.de - Text and frame were created with exactly the same web safe color (990033), but they differ a lot.
Firefox 2..., IE 6, Camino 1.5, Shiira: no shadows, (some) no reflections, (all) horizontally broken lines in reflections of frames, (Windows) fonts (Trebuchet MS) get changed (worked perfectly before with iWeb 1... on exactly the same computer).
Is there any remedy to this aestheical disaster (which was the main reason for me to switch to iLife '08)?
    Thanks in advance,
    Rosember

  • TROUBLESHOOTING SAFARI AND EBAY

I am having trouble paying for an ebay purchase using safari as the web browser.  I am using OS Lion as the operating system.  Tech support from ebay says it is a problem with apple and Safari and is not a problem for internet explorer or Firefox.  I was unable to download firefox.  Any sugestions on how I can make purchases on ebay using Safari?

Does anyone have any idea how to solve these
compatibility problems with 10.4.x??? I cannot upload
photos to ebay with any browser.
    Help... thanks!
    Hello Peter,
Has this just happened. I know some people have had problems with various things after installing one of the security updates.
I was lucky or lazy and saw the reports and have not yet done the update.
Have you done the usual ebay recommendation of clearing the cookies and cache etc.
All I can say is that Safari and Firefox are still OK with ebay although Safari seems to take longer to complete the listing.
Hope you find a solution soon.
    Regards from England,
    Alan

  • Internet Browsers Constantly Fail- Safari and Firefox

About a month ago, my computer started randomly quitting out of Safari while I was viewing webpages. They weren't games, videos, anything like that, just news sites or primarily text pages. It would happen about once an hour, maybe twice an hour. After about a week, I got frustrated and installed firefox. For three weeks, I had no problems. Now, in the last four days, it has started doing this again with firefox. I tried using Safari, and had the same problem. I've run all the software updates, and nothing else seems to be having problems. Unfortunately, firefox quits much more frequently, up to 10 times in an hour, making it very hard to get anything done. Please help!

    Hi Katie0086,
Click on your HD > and on Finder menu click File > Get Info or select your HD and press apple and I simultaniously.
It will open new window about your HD and check on capacity and available.
Try third party utilities to repair your permission and optimize your HD, like Onyx and macHelpMate:
    http://www.titanium.free.fr/pgs/english.html
    http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/systemdiskutilities/machelpmate.html
Try to update your Safari, Firefox or Camino to the latest version, and install their recommended plugins.
    Good Luck.

  • I downloaded from Safari Extension Gallery "Awesome Screenshot" then  remove it. No my Internet is not working, my Safari simply hangs

I downloaded from Safari Extension Gallery "awesome Screenshot" couple of days ago and then decided to remove it from the system . Since then the awesome icon does not appear But my Safari is suffering as it is not loading the pages. Please help

Try removing any other extensions and plugins and if that works introduce them one at a time, you may find it is one of those causing the problem.
If that does not work create a new post, this one being closed will gather less interest and someone who as an answer could miss it.

  • Why won't Firefox fix the problem which prevents the Awesome Screenshot plug in from working in Firefox 5?

After downloading this newest version of Firefox (5), the useful ADD ON 'AWESOME SCREENSHOT' WILL NOT WORK. COULD THIS PROBLEM BE FIXED BY YOU ALL.
    THANKS.

Safari and calendar won't open due to 'calendar persistence plug- in problems'.  Does anyone know what this means and how to resolve it please?
mac book pro with Mavericks 10.9.5

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
    Step 1
For this step, the title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
              View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
In the top right corner of the Console window, there's a search box labeled Filter. Initially the words "String Matching" are shown in that box. Enter the name of the crashed application or process. For example, if iTunes crashed, you would enter "iTunes" (without the quotes.)
Each message in the log begins with the date and time when it was entered. Select the messages from the time of the last crash, if any. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
☞ The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of which is irrelevant to solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.
Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Please don't post screenshots of log messages—post the text.
☞ Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
    Step 2
    In the Console window, select
DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION ▹ User Diagnostic Reports
(not Diagnostic and Usage Messages) from the log list on the left. There is a disclosure triangle to the left of the list item. If the triangle is pointing to the right, click it so that it points down. You'll see a list of crash reports. The name of each report starts with the name of the process, and ends with ".crash". Select the most recent report related to the process in question. The contents of the report will appear on the right. Use copy and paste to post the entire contents—the text, not a screenshot.
I know the report is long, maybe several hundred lines. Please post all of it anyway.
If you don't see any reports listed, but you know there was a crash, you may have chosen Diagnostic and Usage Messages from the log list. Choose DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION instead.
In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.)
Please don’t post other kinds of diagnostic report—they're very long and rarely helpful.
