Safari and camera disappeared from my 3G today!

I used my camera this morning, as I always do, to take a picture of my car in the parking garage, so i can find it in the afternoon. everything seeemed normal.
i turned my phone on to look something up a couple of hours later, and realized that there were several "holes" in my apps pages, and notably, the camera app and safari had vanished. i mentioned this to someone later in the day, and he said that a colleague had remarked on the same thing happening. is this a virus??
i am now restoring my phone, and hoping to get back the native apps (although there are a few i would LIKE to delete, safari and the camera are definite keepers). of note, when i ran a sync on my mac, it did not restore the missing apps, and the apps page on iTunes, under my phone, was all grayed out, and nothing was selectable.

The camera and Safari are two things that can be disabled through restrictions. Go into Settings>General>Restrictions and see if they have been enabled. If so, turn them off. If not, go into Settings>General>Reset>Reset Home Screen Layout. That should bring the apps back, as far as native apps.
The statement earlier was about how some Exchange accounts can disable the camera on the phone through Exchange, if someone was messing around with things.
See if one or both of the above things help. You can also do a reset on the phone by holding the home and power buttons down until you see the Apple logo and then releasing, ignoring the slide to power off screen. This will reset the phone but will not affect data.
