Safari and Facebook chat history logs?

Hi guys!
I thought it was quite impossible to retrieve a facebook chat history, when I found this program.
http://www.jadsoftware.com/home/ief.htm
Unluckily it works only on Windows.. it says:
If this item is checked, IEF will search for messages sent and received using the Facebook® live chat feature. Facebook® Live Chat can be found in live memory, pagefile.sys/hiberfil.sys files, and on the hard drive in allocated and unallocated space.
mmmhh.. Where I can find these files on my Mac?
Thank you v much.

same for me but sometimes!

Where did you get the device?  Is it possible that it has an IT policy on the device blocking Facebook and/or Facebook options?  Look in Options >Security Options >General Settings (actual menu paths vary with OS version) and see if there is any reference to IT policy.

Anyone else having issues with Facebook chat when using Safari? I keep getting an error message that i have to click "ok" for before being able to respond to the message. And sometimes it freezes up...I'm tempted to just switch back to Mozilla...this is killing me.

  • Safari and Facebook ; constant disconnects

    Hi,
I switched from Google Chrome to Safari Just because safari seems to have many beautiful integrations with Mac OS X Lion
The bad thing is that when I login to facebook, every few minutes I get logged out
Also there is second issue with google when I have more than 8 tabs open, when I try to open a page in new tab from search results in google, Safari Crashes

Do you have cookies enabled under Settings > Safari > Accept Cookies?
EDIT: I am able to log on to the full Facebook site with cookies set to "Always" or "From visited"
If you have cookies set to either of these options, go to Settings > Safari, and clear cookies and cache and start over with your ID/PW

  • Safari and Facebook issues since Yosemite upgrade

    OSX 10.10
    Safari 8.0
    Macbook Pro Retina Late 2013
Since upgrading to Yosemite, I have been having numerous issues on Safari with Facebook, but not on any other website.  The issues are:
    - Sometimes (maybe 10% of the time) only loads a few posts in my timeline (as few as 4) and then stops
    - Sometimes (maybe 50% of the time) a few pictures are not displayed, but only a little question mark
    - Sometimes (about 10% of the time) I cannot click any of the links
    - Sometimes (about 20%) I get a Failed to Open Page screen with the message Safari cannot establish a secure connection.
    I have tried the following:
    - Turned off any extensions
    - Cleared the History and Cache (as well as moving the cache.db file for Safari into Trash and then restarting Safari)
Neither of these seemed to have any effect.  Any ideas what to do next?
If I delete Safari and re-install, is there some way to keep all my bookmarks?

    Hi ..
If you delete Safari on a Mac running Yosemite v10.10, there are no standalone downloads to reinstall the app. You would have to restore OS X using OS X Recovery. Better to troubleshoot the currently installed Safari app.
    Try OpenDNS.
Open System Preferences > Network > Advanced > DNS
    Click + and type:
    208.67.222.222
Click + again and do the same.
    208.67.220.220
    Click OK.
Quit then relaunch Safari to test.
f that doesn't help, try Google's DNS >  Safari 5.0.1 or later: Slow or partial webpage loading, or webpage cannot be found

  • Morning, Add-on Facebook Chat History Maneger does work, but not how it should be.

    Morning,
Since last up-date to Firefox 6, Chat History Maneger doesn't work properly. I only can see the receiver and not the sender (myself).
When I install Firefox 5 it is working correctly, only then Firefox is constantly asking to do an update (to FF 6).

    * 1st of all This add-on has been disabled by an administrator.
    * you cannot install it even on Firefox 5 :)
    * you can download [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/greasemonkey/ Greasemonkey]
    * after that you can use [http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/107159 facebook sidebar chat reversion Userscripts for Facebook]
    * let us know your issue :)

  • Gmail drop-down menus (Move to, Labels) and emails and Facebook chat will not open.

I am unable to open emails in standard Gmail. Emails can be opened after switching to the basic html version. I am also unable to use the drop-down menus, such as "Move to" or "Labels." The button turns gray, but the options do not appear.
Facebook chat is giving me a similar problem. When I click "Chat" in the bottom left, it acts as though it's trying to load but does not open up to reveal friends.
I have tried the following: deleting cookies, reinstalling Java, updating my vid card drivers, and uninstalling/reinstalling Firefox
Scans for viruses and spyware have yielded no results. I use AVG, Spybot, and Malwarebytes. The Gmail emails and menus will open in IE8.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
    See:
    * [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]]

  • Safari and Facebook walls

Can anyone post on your friends' wall on facebook?  The box is missing for sometime now and there is no solution from facebook nor apple.
I loaded the same pages on Firefox and the boxes appeared.  And no, it is not a privacy setting issue because the photo strip above the box was missing as well.

    Hi Bubbelz
Thanks for your message, but sorry because I have to disappoint you; it doesn't work.  I even tried resetting Safari.  I thought it was my Adblock, but it wasn't coz i turned it off and facebook is the same.
Does anyone else out there experience this, or is this is this really locallised (me)?
See attached is my best friend's facebook wall on Safari.  Noticed there is no photo update and no box to write on the wall.  When I open the same page on Firefox, everything shows up as intended.
    ughhhhhhhhh

  • Safari and Facebook Issue

I just bought my first Mac ever and am having issues that I don't have using Firefox on my Vaio. Facebook loads and loads and loads forever when I click on any link. Only half of the images load on a page. It's really annoying. What's going on?

    Ok..
From your Safari menu bar click Safari / Preferences then select the Security tab. Click: Show Cookies
    Delete all Facebook cookies.
    Quit Safari then relaunch Safari.
If that didn't help, go back to Safari / Preferences. You can access Safari Preferences with a keyboard shortcut: Command , (comma)
Select the Extensions tab. If you installed any Extensions, turn that off, relaunch Safari.
And in Safari / Preferences select the Appearance tab. Make sure: *Display images when the page opens* is selected.
And check your Home folder (accessible from a Finder window in the Sidebar on the left). Open the Library folder then the Internet Plug-ins folder. If you installed any Facebook plugins, move them to the Desktop. Relaunch Safari, try Facebook.
If nothing above has helped, Quit Safari. Open a Finder window select your Home folder in the Sidebar on the left. Then open the Library folder, then the Caches folder, then the *com.apple.Safari folder*. Move the cache.db file from the com.apple.Safari folder to the Trash. Relaunch Safari.
You can also try troubleshooting the Safari .plist file. Quit Safari. Open a Finder window. Select your Home Folder in the Sidebar on the left. It has a small house icon. Then open the Library folder then the Preferences folder. Move the com.apple.Safari.plist file from the Preferences folder to the Desktop. Now launch Safari. If Safari loads a Facebook page correctly, move that .plist file to the Trash. If there's no difference, move the .plist file back to the Preferences folder.
If you setup any Parental Controls (System Preferences / Parental Controls), that could be causing FB to not load.

  • Empathy and Facebook chat

Hello, I can't connect to facebook chat with Empathy. Pidgin works just fine, but I need Empathy for the built-in gnome messenger. Is there a solution for this?

I noticed Facebook changed Chat a few days ago.
I use Facebook Chat with Pidgin. Recently, for about a week I was getting errors while chatting with people, and then a few days ago the service suddenly disconnected. When I reconnected to Facebook Chat, my friend list was rearranged, so I assume Facebook has been making changes to Chat.
Here is the Facebook page for setting up chat: https://www.facebook.com/sitetour/chat.php Sorry, I don't know about Empathy.

  • E-51 and facebook chat

    Hi,
Just got a Nokia E-51 and have been attempting to use Facebook chat on it. I know the mobile version does not support chat so i have been accessing the full site which should surely support it?
    Can any one help?

It doesn't mean anything of the sort.

I don't understand, do you mean connecting via the carrier's mobile network? You must use Wi-Fi for that app, you cannot use the network.
Do you have a Data Plan with your carrier? Who is the carrier.

  • Safari and Gmail Chat

I set up my wife’s gmail account on her macbook and then we went through the idea that we could chat while I was at work (offshore). So I invited her to chat and she went through the process to be able to chat and BLANK, every time she tried to use chat nothing would happen so after many failed attempts we kind of gave up.
Anyway at work I decided to try using two PC computers and Bobs your uncle it worked, so I again asked my wife to try but BLANK so I got my wife to open Windows XP (she also has boot camp) and Bobs your uncle we can chat.
So what is the problem with Safari and Gmail?

Unfortunately now you can only get the chat working in Firefox as far as I know. You can however download Adium (http://www.adiumx.com/) and add the Google Talk account and get it running there. Hopefully a future update to Safari 3 will fix this
