You don't provide any details, but from the sound of it you are trying to open an online PDF in a browser that does not use the Adobe Reader plugin: http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/pdf-browser-plugin-configuration.html

  • I upgraded to 3.6.8 and now pages won't load, connection times out.

I open Firefox on my desktop. Takes forever to load my google home page, or sometimes it says connection timed out. When I try to get to websites it either takes forever, or I get a message saying connection timed out, and/or the error message problem loading page. Has only started happening since I upgraded to 3.6.8. Have tried disabling add-ons but that didn't help. Nothing wrong with my internet connection. Use Windows XP

Do you use McAfee Antivirus/Firewall/Security products? McAfee released a security update that is blocking Firefox 3.6.11. This should be cleared up with the next McAfee update.

  • Safari-Certain Web pages won't load

As of 2/25/06 I am having problems in loading certain web pages from Safari, Fox fire or even Netscape. I am able to load Google but not Yahoo. I can't load any site connected to www.tamu.edu. Some sites I have used often and some are new. My internet provider is stumped. I have dumped caches and reset Safari but that did not help. Most sites are loading but a select few will not. On Safari I will get the message "Connection has timmed out" or "Server stopped responding." Any suggestions? Thanks

this may or may not help, depends on how you connect to the internet.
I've been having problems with safari not loading some pages and being slow for a couple of days.
so i tried the other browsers and got the same, couldn't connect to the itunes store either.
I connect using a router with a couple of mac's networked, I've being driving myself insane trying to gte things sorted, finally I reset the router, everything is now working.

  • Safari Problems (Slow, Pages won't load, etc)

    Hi,
My MBPro is less than a year old. All software is up to date.
My new 802.11 AC router is installed without a problem.
Safari keeps lagging in loading pages. Sometimes they just don't load.
I thought it was the router or internet connection but it's not.
    Google Chrome is lightening fast.
I've cleared cache, browser history, etc.
Not sure what else to do.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

What version of the OS are you using?
Safari/Preferences/Advanced - enable the Develop menu, then go there and Empty Caches. Quit/reopen Safari and test. Then try Safari/History/Show History and delete all history items.  Quit/reopen Safari and test. You can also try try Safari/Clear History and Web Site Data. The down side is it clears all cookies.Doing this may cause some sites to no longer recognize your computer as one that has visited the web site.

  • Just installed Firefox, and the page won't load. It says unable to connect. Already deleted and reinstalled and followed some tips on the website. It's still not working? Help.

I downloaded Firefox 4 on another laptop without issue (it has windows 7). I downloaded it again on another computer (a lil older with Windows Vista) and it wouldn't open from the very beginning. I fixed the firewall as stated in the help section. I also updated the internet connection settings as stated in the help section. I also deleted and reinstalled it twice, but nothing still works. :-(

Did you ever fix this, because I am having the same problem

  • Safari (and Firefox) freezing on all pages with embedded video

Hi, is anyone else experiencing this problem? Any pages with video, with the exception of YouTube, have been freezing on both Safari and Firefox (Hulu, etc.). They don't load and I have to force quit the applications (and, of course, not watch video). Is anyone else having this problem? I've repaired permissions, emptied the cache, delete the plist file, and it's still happening.
Anyone else having this problem? Any solutions? All help appreciated. M

I was having a problem with Safari and Firefox and Camino quitting when I tried to view an online video, such as full length episodes on the TV network websites. I upgraded Adobe Flash to the latest version (version 9.0.124.0) and then repaired permissions and this took care of the problem. (Before I posted this I double checked the fix by going to the CBS and NBC web sites and watching 5 minutes of CSI:NY and Chuck and both played fine with nary a hiccup.)

  • ATTACHMENT TIMES OUT! Mail, Safari and Firefox (Hotmail, ISP webmail)

I have a problem recently appeared out of blue. It consists of the following:
every time I try to send attachment the server times out (e-mails without attachments are sent swiftly).
Mail asks for another server to be able to send e-mail. On Hotmail account and my ISPs webmail (both in Safari and Firefox) it gets stuck until I get logged out from the page.
I have MacBook Pro and use Tiger 10.4.10 and all the latest software updates. No antivirus software. On the internet side, I have 512 ADSL. Download works fine - full capacity, browsing is good except e-mail clients.
I did god knows what. Swiched off FileVault, turned off my router's firewall, chatted for hours with my ISP support (he's a hot guy but that wasn't the reason) while fiddling on both ends. Went to the 'hotspot' cafe where the problem continued. Then I realised that it wasn't ISP (thought, never trust a handsome guy) or my router, but something that is affecting both Mail application and browsers. Clients are breathing on my neck for artwork and I am stuck.
Could it be the latest security update? Could it be magic? Well, I don't believe in magic! Does anyone have a clue?
    Cheers,
    Dragan

forget about my last message, if you disable plugins you won't be able to see vids on youtube.
What I did is remove all the plugins that were not for video.
To erase plugins just open safari and be sure to enable plugins on the Preference tab.
So, after you've enabled plugins, Open Safari>Help>Installed plugins
This will show you all the plugins you have installed in your mac. Once you see the list:
    1. copy the name of the plugin file
    2. open a finder window
    3. paste the name of the plugin in the search box of the finder window
    4. delete the plugin
It worked for me, I think the culprit was either the Silverlight.plugin or the Quartz Composer.webplugin

  • Page won't load in Safari

    Hello,
I'm trying to open a page (http://drjeder.com) in the newest Safari under WINDOWS and the page won't load. All I see is a blank screen and a loading message (Other browsers can open it with no problem).
I then installed Safari (for Windows) on a different computer and it worked only for the first time, but after that it again wouldn't load. What causes this issue and how can it be resolved?
    Thanks in advance.

I am getting the same problem on Safari 4 (but it works fine on the Mac), so any help anyone can provide that would be useful.
The page I am having a problem with is http://www.iwebvisor.com/assets.aspx (but you need to have navigate to it through the site starting at http://www.iwebvisor.com/start.aspx)
During testing we never had an issue with this it has just occured when we pushed this out for go live.
Something else I have found is I can not replicate the error when I am running Fiddler2 (http://www.fiddler2.com/fiddler2/) to monitor the HTTP traffic, and there are no errors in the IIS log on the webserver. Its driving me insane.

  • Safari and Firefox not loading pages

Safari and Firefox are now selectively not loading certain pages. Sites like penny-arcade.com and staffingnow.com give me a ...
Safari can’t connect to the server.
Safari can’t open the page “http://www.staffingnow.com/” because it could not connect to the server “www.staffingnow.com”.
message. Now I have tried to empty my cookies, my cache, I have cleared all data that can be cleared. I've renewed my DHCP lease, reset my router, restarted my computer, etc and none of it seems to help.
I've tried loading them on my girlfriend's pc and they load up fine.
    Any ideas?

Having the same problem here, only I dont have firefox. Safari refuses to load my webpage www.epicvideo.com.au yet any other computer can access it. I have another site, with the same server, on a similar but cheaper plan, that loads every time.
I have no problems with download speeds, but from reading discussions, some individual sites, hand-picked by Safari, refuse to load. My business website is the only site Safari wont load - I get the error "Bad Request (Invalid Hostname)" - frustrating when running a business!!!!
Ive done it all to, emptied the cache, reset safari, deleted all my book marks (yay), turned off my modem, restarted my server, spoken to tech staff at my STMP and website server... even Mac Heads at Telstra... no answers.
Lastly, im finding discussions not helping too much either, cause im just deleting files and changing settings etc - something that will surely cause me more grief!!

  • Safari (and Firefox) hang on Flash-Pages for main-account

Since Easter (when I took the last batch of upgrades) Safari and Firefox hang.
I narrowed the test down to the following web-page:
    http://www.sunfleet.com
    * The page does not load completely - after a little while I get this spinning ball and need to kill the hanging Safari-process.
    * The same web-page works flawless on a second account.
This is what i tried so far after reading the communities:
    * Checked the safari-preferences, switched off auto-fill, security settings allow loading of plug-ins.
    * Executed Onyx 2.1.4 - check disk, check and repair rights, run scripts
    * deinstalled Flash and reinstalled it (10.0.45.2) according to the instructions on the Adobe Support Page
    * manually removed the Flash Player folders in:
    Home/Library/Preferences/Macromedia
    Home/Library/Caches
    The error still prevails.
It would be great if someone could instruct me what to do next.
I have a backup via time-machine, but I really don't know what to restore.

    Hi Carolyn!
In the mean-while I removed all the Internet Plugins that were registered under the main user:
real-player and move-media-player are now gone.
Still no change. I made a new trace below - I wonder, what is different on the main account compared to the other user. Could it be fonts ?
    Best regards
    Stephan

  • Safari and Firefox won't open served ASP pages - HELP!

Both Safari and Firefox will not open *.asp web pages automatically. I mean, I know ASP is a Microsoft product, but REALLY. This is ridiculous! ASP is very common on the web. Mac should automatically handle these pages just like any other HTML type of page. But until Apple comes to its senses to make life a little easier for those of us who chose to buy their product and use it in the real world, can somebody please tell me how to configure my Mac to open ASPs automatically? Right now both Safari and Firefox want to download the pages instead of just opening them. And then it asks me what application I want to use to open it. Duh! Obviously I want to open it in Firefox or Safari so I can view the darn thing! Please - I don't need any explanation of what ASP is. I know what it is. Please just tell me how to get my Mac to display the served pages. Thank you!!!!

This is not a standard problem with Safari/Firefox on the Mac that I can see. For example, when I go to http://www.boursedata.com.au/solutions/default.asp it loads the page normally (note: I have a historical association to that company... I have used it because I know it uses asp!).
What does it do for you?

  • Does anyone know why safari and firefox won't load certain pages

    Hi
I can't get safari and firefox to load certain pages.  For me it's a website programme that i'm using.  I can get into the programme but then certain pages won't load.  This suddenly happened about 3 weeks ago with Safari.  I then loaded Firefox and it worked fine for a few days and now i'm having the same problem and it's the same pages that won't open.  I also have trouble getting other sites to load completely, such as this site.  It's so frustrating as i can't finish building my website and my laptop is only new!
    Help someone, if you can

Hi again and thanks for replying
I can go into their website, cloudaccess and use that properly.  I just can't use my own website properly.  When i say website, my site isn't yet built.  The site i'm trying to access is the backend of joomla.  I can't load it and use some of it but not all of it.
I can access the site through my old laptop (and use it fully) which is a windows one but i can't access it via this one.  I thought it was a cloudaccess problem but seeing as it's only my mac i can't access it through, i'm presuming it's my computer.  I also tried it through firefox and explorer on my windows laptop and it was fine.  It was ok on this laptop until a few weeks ago when it suddenly wouldn't load properly

  • Constant & erratic "Page Load Error" with Safari and Firefox

A week or two ago, I started getting constant "Page Load Errors" ('this page cannot be found', etc) when browsing with either Safari or Firefox. These are not dead sites that time out, but are very live (and cannot be summoned no matter how many times refresh)!
Something is wrong on my computer's end: I have strong wireless, have tried connecting with ethernet, and have used a different network. All of these produce the same result, where about half of the sites I try to connect to are instantly declared as dead by any browser I use.
I am not using any firewall, and have emptied both browser's caches.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!
    Cliff

I'm having the same problem. It only happens at home over my DSL connection. Here is what I have tried and the results.
This really started bothering me since I upgraded to a recent Macbook Pro. I tried my original MBP with Leopard and found it doing the same thing. I ended up testing from my G4 and it works fine. The problem occurs over wireless and wired. I tried changing my MTU size with no change. I thought it was DNS but changed to other DNS and it didn't make a difference. Happens in Safari and Firefox. I am thinking it has an effect on iTune store also. The problem goes away when I VPN in to work, comes back when I close the VPN.
Just tonight I installed an clean 10.5 Leopard on my original MBP. Safari works perfectly. Instead of updating to 10.5.6, I download the 10.5.5 update. After updating the problem reappeared.
Again, my G4 with latest Tiger update work fine and both Macbook Pros with the latest Leopard have a problem over my DLS connection. They work perfectly fine at work and other locations.
