Safari and iTunes not connecting to internet after 10.5.3 but firefox does
Hi,
My first post ever. I just updated to 10.5.3 from 10.5.2 After the update, I can not connect to the internet using Safari. I get an error message that I have no internet conection. I ran the network diagnostics and everything was reported as working correctly. I also ran a repair permissions from disc utilities. Still can not connect with Safari. I also noticed that itunes can not download any podcasts. My "software update" in system perferences can not connect either. Firefox has no problem going online.
Any suggesttions on how to proceed?
Thanks
Also worked on 10.4.11. I installed an Airport Express and updated all the software and firmware on my MacBook. After Safari, Itunes store, Google earth could not connect but Firefox was connecting fine. Followed your tip. Disableing the proxies on the Network config does the trick. Very simple but very helpful, thanks.

Firefox will not connect to internet after upgrade. The window pops up but shows "connecting " in tab. And then it sit there. Close it down and then try to reopen it and get message " Firefox already running, Exit program or shut down computer" ?????????????????
1st problem see http://kb.mozillazine.org/Firewalls
2nd problem, to close Firefox properly use File > Exit
:not with the [x] in upper right corner which close window
:see http://kb.mozillazine.org/Firefox_hangs#Hang_at_exit
:if restarting use "Restartless Restart" extension as mentioned there.

Safari reports "computer not connected to internet" (but it is)
Safari reports "computer not connected to internet" (but it is). Firefox works normally. What kind of issue is this with Safari? Corrective action?
Message was edited by: NoaksHello. Safari 5 has a bug that causes you're router/modem to crash cutting internet access for many on it's users. This can last for several seconds in my case. Their are many threads here on the case and you can Google, "safari can't connect to server" and look for the most recent cases. The only work around that has worked for some has been open dns. Apple will have a fix soon.

my program does not work properly. I run the program but it is not capable of adding any of my ebooks and when I connect my ereader, it recognises the device but it does not add any ebook either.
I uninstalled the program and reinstalled again but nothing gone better-
What should I do?
Best regardsDo you have Logitech gaming software installed on the PC? If so, perhaps try the suggestion from the following post:

Safari will not connect to Internet after Mountain Lion update
Please help!!!
I recently updated to Mountain Lion from Snow Leopard and for a few days, everything seemed to work well & seamlessly!
However, on starting up my MacBookPro today, I cannot connect to the Internet.
I continually receive the error message "Safari can't connect to the server"
I have run diagnostics and my connection is fine, with a full wifi signal.
My iPad, iPhone & iPod all connect perfectly and my router has been unchanged and untouched!
I'm not the most computer-literate person in the world but would appreciate any possible help and advice!
My MacBookPro has the following:
Processor: 2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
Memory: 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce 9400M 256 MB
Software: OS X 10.8 (12A269) Mountain Lion
Many thanks!!!
RobinWhen I try and open it, windows puts up a box saying that windows 7 has a problem with Safari and will not open?
Fingers crossed, your Windows 7 will have been recording some additional information about those.
First, open your Action Center and expand "Maintenance". Click "View reliability history":
Once the reliability report has been generated, look for Critical events for Safari generated at the time of the "Safari has stopped working" messages. Doubleclick the name Safari in the critical events. (Don't click View solution.) Here's a screenshot showing what to doubleclick:
You should see something that looks like the following screenshot:

IPad Air can not connect to internet after updating to iOS8.
Safari CAN NOT OPEN ANY PAGES because the iPad is not connected to internet. I updated to iOS8 last night and have been trying to reset my ipad as well. However, the problem is still there. It even says my Apple ID incorrect. GUYS! DO NOT UPDATE YOUR iPAD TO iOS8 UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE!!!!!!!! Luckily, I did not do anything with my phone. PHEW
Other threads I've read have had people note that the following solutions have worked for them:
If you have a 5 GHz wi-fi router, turn off 5 GHz support and let it fall back to 2.4 GHz.
Change wi-fi router to auto-select channels, or manually select a different channel than what it's on now.
Disable iCloud Drive.
I'm not saying that that any of these will work, but it's something to try (one at a time). -

New ipad and Macair not connecting to internet
i just got an ipad and macair. when setting up the wi-fi, it looks as if its connected with all the bars showing. but when i click safari, it says not connected to the internet. i have done everything on the wi-fi help page. and reset the network about 50 times. but always the same result. i really havent tried the macair yet. any suggestions to get it to connect to the internet?
WPA2/personal - I do have the greed LED light and I can acess the internet on my iMac via the LAN port. I powered off the comcast modem and the Extreme and the iphone and the iPad and then started up the Extreme and then the modem and then the others. No joy. on both iPhone and iPad I get 'this webpage is not available' when I try to connect via the wireless network.
I keep thinking this is something simple I'm overlooking as I had no problem until I replaced the Extreme. I did not set up a new wireless network. Could that somehow be a cause..? -
Wi fi is on but when i use safari it says not connected to internet?
I need help with ipad.Internet was working then we watched a video on utube and from then on we get a message saying not connected to internet. home Wi fi is on.
restart the ipad.
hold top power button for 5 seconds, slide to power off. then turn back on.
Resolved? if not, reset network settings. Settings>general>reset>reset network settings
this will wipe out any wi fi connections, and you will need to rejoin the network and re-enter the password. -

MacBook Air will not connect to Internet (no problem with other devices). Message states " Wi-Fi has the self assigned IP adresss 169.254.147.1and will not connect to Internet.

After new download, Safari and Itunes not working?
So the other day my dad ran the updates on my MacBook and ever since then my internet is not working on either Safari or Itunes. I can connect to the internet on Firefox though. I am on 10.4.11 if that helps. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
Use Disk Utility to repair permissions on your drive. If that doesn't work then boot from your install CD and use Disk Utility to verify and repair your hard drive.
When something like this starts to happen it is possible sign of something worse being wrong with the computer operating system. Now is a good time to back up before you do any repairs. Some of these post-update minor problems have seemed to foretell something worse resulting.
You should always repair your drive and permissions before installing and update, and repair permissions immediately afterwards. The more cautious of us also back up our drives before doing an update. -
Safari not connecting to internet after software update
I have just completed a software update and now safari will not connect to our wireless internet... airport says it has full bandwidth and other macs connected to the wireless connection are working without any fault.... has anyone got any ideas????
Thanks!!Hello Sarah:
As you probably have already guessed, quite a number of things might have happened.
My network is Ethernet, so I am not much help with wireless networks. However, I think I would (if I were you), run an archive and install:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107120
An archive and install will place a fresh copy of OS X on your system while, at the same time, preserve your files, programs, and settings. It is always a good idea, however, to have a good backup strategy before any software changes. You should then run software update to bring your system to a current level (in your case, OS X 10.4.11 is current, I think).
The A&I should eliminate any system software issues.

I was able to install some windows 10 updates with wifi as my usb modem would not work
After that i can't connect to the internet. I can connect to wifi and it shows internet access but i can't still connect to internet.
One funny thing though i typed ipconfig in cmd and no ip address was found it shows something like media no connected.
All my drivers are upto date. Downloaded directly from lenovo website. And they are all working perfectly according to device managerAlso worked on 10.4.11. I installed an Airport Express and updated all the software and firmware on my MacBook. After Safari, Itunes store, Google earth could not connect but Firefox was connecting fine. Followed your tip. Disableing the proxies on the Network config does the trick. Very simple but very helpful, thanks.
