Safari and Mouse Gestures

Safari does not have mouse gestures properties. It is hard and boring to use scrollbar all time.
Please update our Safari-s.
I love Safari and I want to use it all time. Thank you

Problem solved; I reset NVRAM.  Annoying though.

  • Safari and Mouse-wheel "click" function.

    Hi.
I have this problem when i click on my mouse-wheel i can't fast scroll like i can in Internet Explorer.
Is there any setting for this or something?
I'll explain what i mean if you have problems understanding exactly where i'm going with this.
In Internet Explorer i always "click" on my mouse-wheel button to enable a faster way of scrolling up/down websites by just dragging the mouse up/down.
In Safari this option doesn't seem to exist.
    Please help.

Hi Kenny79 and welcome to the Apple discussions forums!
Well the answer is unfortunately NO, their are no settings you can change, and this feature is NOT included in Safari for Windows as of now anyway.
Though, I can add that i miss that feature too !-).
    Cheers, J~G

  • Safari and mouse cursor

I cannot use my cursor on my comcast home page.  they think I need to update my browser.  Do I need to add memory to get one since my computer is older?  I have updated everything  I can so far.

Press the key combination command-F5 to deactivate VoiceOver. If that doesn't work, proceed as follows.
For OS X 10.7: From the menu bar, select
     ▹ System Preferences ▹ Universal Access ▹ Seeing ▹ VoiceOver: Off
For OS X 10.8 or later: Select

  • Problem with magic mouse gestures in safari

    iMac 27", mid 2011
    16 GB 1333Mhz
Using OS X Yosemite, Safari, Magic Mouse
one day no problem at all, the next day, without any new installations:
Whenever I use the swipe gesture to go back to a previous page,
It does not work and I cannot scroll on this page anymore.
Shutting down Safari and restarting it works.
I read a lot about this, it seems to be a known problem.
I did not use terminal to use direct command for remedy, but tried everything else I read:
power own the mouse, taking battery out, switching off BT for Mouse, several restarts of the iMac etc.
    Nothing helps.
As I am so used to the gestures for a very long tome, it takes only seconds, before I swipe back-- and that´s it!
    I have to restart Safari.
I would be very thankful for your help!
    best,
    Fred

    Hi seventy one,
many thanks for your efforts to help me!!
but I just solved my problem doing the exact same as someone else did:
    I cite him here:

Re: Magic Mouse Scrolling Issuein response to Linc Davis
    Hi Linc
Thank you for the extremely detailed response.
I think I have the issue solved for the minute at least.
I not only disconnected every cable from the Mac, as I had previously done, I also disconnected every cable from my peripherals and powered down every peripheral as well, then re-wired my set-up. This seems to have solved the issue. Not sure of the technical reason that this would have fixed my problem, but it seems to have fixed the issue for the moment anyway.
So, my problem is solved too!!
    Many thanks

  • Are there mouse gestures (forward/back) for Safari like in Firefox?

I like using Safari 4, but one of the things that takes me back to Firefox are the most gestures (especially forward and back).
Are there mouse gestures I can download for Safari 4?

Sorry, you can't do that in Safari. You'd have to use a third-party program for that (xGestures; $5), which you can get here: http://alum.hampshire.edu/~bjk02/xGestures/index.htm

  • TS3366 iOS 7: Back and Forward Gesture in Safari and Mail conflicts with Panning Gesture

Back and Forward Gesture in Safari and Mail is different than the back and forward gesture used to swipe between Home screens.  The simple swipe with the thumb straight does not work in Safari and Mail, it conflicts with the Panning gesture.  It should be relatively easy to improve the algorithm to allow for that gesture to work.

Indeed, swiping back from pdf pages sometimes works, but most often does not.
It seems that the swiping gesture has in all cases changed slightly. It is now necessary to swipe a little until a portion of the previous page is uncovered, and only then can one swipe back.
The fact that there is a specific way to swipe back from html pages suggests that there might be an equally specific way to swipe back from pdf pages. I am still experimenting. Meanwhile make sure no one is sitting to your right in case your trackpad flies off during a gesture trial.

  • Hi!  My magic mouse won't scroll in word for mac - but it scrolls in safari and outlook.  So frustrating!

I just upgraded to OS X Yosemite and am using Microsoft Word for Mac 2011 version 14.4.5.  My magic mouse no longer scrolls in word - though I can click on things with the magic mouse.  And the magic mouse scrolls in safari and outlook.  Any thoughts?

I had the same problem. I just quit Word and restarted and it worked. I tried with a new document just to try it at first and when that worked, I tried it on the document I was working on and it was fixed!

  • I just purchased Lion OS and I can't get the mouse gestures to work at all [2009 MacBook]

I just purchased Lion OS and I can't get the mouse gestures to work on my MacBook.

This is the iMac forum- you might get a quicker response in MacBook area. But I assume you have tried the settings in the Sytem Preferences for Trackpad.

  • Windows 7 mouse gestures don't work with DW and FW

I discovered that the mouse gestures don't work with Dreamweaver CS4 and Fireworks CS4 windows. When I drag a window to the right or left, nothing happen. The gestures words fine with all other programs, even Adobe programs like Photoshop or Lightroom. Can anyone help?

Thanks Robb. I tried those options but it didn't work, but I'm posting here the final resolution in case anyone else encounters the issue.
I had the local desktop support check out his PC and it turns out that the Windows 7 screen resolution was causing the issue. The only reason it was caught is because his desktop sharing software also was not working correctly.
Within the display settings Windows 7 allows you to display text/icons larger without changing the resolution. The user's display was set at 150%. After changing to 100% (default) the desktop sharing and Essbase double clicking are working.

  • Mouse gestures in Sarafi 4?

    Hey there,
the only reason i'm not switching from Firefox to Safari is that i still couldn't figure out how to use mouse gestures. I just love to be able to close a tab just by making a mouse gesture.
I saw that there is the "Installed Plugings" menue entry so i was wondering if there is a mouse gesture plugin out there that i just couldn't find so far.
    Thanks for any hint,
    nice greetings

I would recommend xGestures. Works like a charm and is cheap. It gives you gestures anywhere, not only in Safari.

  • Mouse gesture

    Hi you guys,
I have just changed from windows to mac osx, and i have a problems about safari mouse gesture.
Could you please tell me how to use/set mouse gestures (usb mouse) on Safari mac osx 10.9?
    Thank you very much
    Pomelo

What you describe sounds like the Smart Zoom gesture for the mouse - a gentle single-finger double-tap on the mouse will zoom the contents of a Safari window. Repeat the gesture to bring it back to normal.
This can be disabled in System Preferences > Mouse > Point & Click by unchecking the Smart Zoom item.

  • Downloaded files won't open, and mouse sometimes disappears

    Hey there,
I've just been having some rather minor problems with my iBook, and I thought maybe someone could help me out.
First of all, my iBook won't open a lot of applications that I download. It says that it can't find the application to open the programs with. I looked on a few of these forum threads, and it said to download the Stuffit program. I dowloaded the latest version, but when I went to open it, my computer gave me the same answer as it did for all those other apps- that it couldn't find the application to open it up with. I went back and downloaded the previous version of Stuffit, but that had the same result. How can I get files to open on my computer?
Also, sometimes while I'm in Safari, the mouse arrow completely disappears until I either scroll over a picture or click the back/forward arrows. Anyone have any ideas on why this happens? It doesn't really do anything bad, it's just annoying.
Well, thanks for reading this, and have a good day!

Ok, maybe this will lend some insight to the Safari cursor behavior.
I was on the Slashdots' main page. I had not experienced the issue since yesterday.
I proceded to follow this link, opening it in a new tab:
    http://www.crn.com/sections/breakingnews/dailyarchives.jhtml?articleId=188701694
When on that page, the cursor would start rapidly switching from a pointer to a hand. I clicked on the tab for Slashdot. Problem gone! I tabbed back to the CRN page in question and reloaded it. Problem is back. To clarify, I did not have to reload the page for the problem to persist, it was just something I tried.
I emptied the cache and reloaded. No change.
I would like to add that this in no way interferes with productivity when working in Safari, it's just really odd is all.
    Any ideas?

  • When I disconnect my bluetooth keyboard, Safari and Notes won't open the onscreen keyboard

Hi, on iOS 7 when I've dismissed the onscreen keyboard because I'm using my Bluetooth one, but then disconnect my Bluetooth keyboard, I can't get the on-screen one to pop up again in some applications like Safari and Notes. Other applications such as Mail are unaffected.
I Googled this a lot but mostly what comes up are "x tips and tricks for ios 7" articles which don't have anything to do with the problem. The only relavent result that I found recommended I restart my iPad. OK, so I restart my iPad and now the software keyboard works in Safari... That's ridiculous! I don't even want to use my bluetooth keyboard if I have to restart the iPad every time for when I'm not using it!
This apparently affects all bluetooth keyboard models, I use a Logitech FabricSkin folio, but I also have tried it with my Apple Bluetooth keyboard with the same problems.
Tapping in the text area used to bring the keyboard back up, but no more.
Please tell me there is some alternate solution, or a gesture to bring up the keyboard, or something? This is probably the stupidest thing I've seen in iOS 7.
    Thanks

I also have the same problem.  If you turn off Bluetooth, the virtual keyboard won't come back, especially if you're using Bluetooth speakers as well.  Heck, it even rebooted my iPad when I tried this.
I'm very tempted to dump my iPad + Logitech Keyboard if this doesn't get resolved in a timely manner.

  • Lost keypresses and mouse clicks:  Hardware problem?

I recently bought an Intel MBP, and I've been noticing strange behaviors with regard to keypresses and mouse (touchpad) clicks getting lost sometimes. The problems I'm having are hard to reproduce intentionally, but I can hear the keypresses and mouse button clicks when I do them, yet nothing happens. While it's possible, that I sometimes am hitting the wrong key, I have been paying closer attention lately to this problem, and of course, the mouse button kinda hard to hit incorrectly. Here are some examples of weird things I encounter:
If I click in a text field in Safari, sometimes the first keypress (and only the first) will get lost.
Sometimes, the first keypress I type right after clicking gets lost. For instance, just now, I noticed a typo in the above sentence, so I clicked on the character and hit the Delete key. The cursor was in the right place, but the delete didn't happen. I had to press the key again.
Sometimes, even when the window for sure has focus and the pointer is squarely pointing to a link, the first click on the link won't take. I have to click it again. Since Safari doesn't have adequate feedback for when you click something, that can get particularly frustrating. Similar things happen with buttons in applications or on the title bar.
If I'm using an X11 app, and I copy/paste with the clipboard, the touchpad won't respond to movement for 2 or 3 seconds afterward. This is particularly visible with "nedit". I don't think this is an "ignore accidental touchpad input" issue, because this only happens with clipboard actions; other keys don't have this effect. I haven't noticed this with native apps.
However, I have noticed in X11 and native apps, sometimes, Ctrl/Cmd-C and Ctrl/Cmd-V will be ignored. They're never ignored if I selected the text using the keyboard (shift+arrows), but if I select the text with the mouse and then use the shortcut to copy, the copy/paste sometimes doesn't happen.
I have noticed that if I am more deliberate about clicks (make sure to hold the button down longer), the probability of losing the event SEEMS to be reduced, but not eliminated. Is there a debounce circuit involved that's causing me trouble?
This kind of loss of input is unusual to me. I have a number of Windows and Linux PCs, and I've never experienced this sort of thing. I've also used a few Macs at school before I got this one and didn't notice anything weird.
Can anyone shed some light on this for me? It would seem odd that I should have to modify my keyboard/mouse using behavior when switching to the Mac. If the problem is hardware, how can I prove it? (Perhaps I could boot Knoppix from a CD and mess around a bit.) If the problem is software, is this a case of MacOS trying to second-guess user input?
    Thanks!

    Theosib,
Apple regularly monitors these boards, but you may never see a response from Apple directly. Assume this is a user to user forum. If you are having a problem with the computer and need a response from Apple call 1-800-APLCARE and speak to customer relations at that office if the technician is not able to satisfy your needs.
Your problem while not unheard of, is more uncommon than the boards may make you believe.
Remember, Spotlight is constantly indexing. If your hard drive is overfull, it may take longer for Spotlight to index, thus cause a multitasking delay. If you have many Dashboard widgets, they may all be trying to access the net for updates at once, and again, a delay might happen. I've written a FAQ* about several other factors which may affect Mac OS X speed, which could in theory also affect keyboard input:
    http://www.macmaps.com/Macosxspeed.html
And of course, you should always check Apple menu -> System Preferences -> Keyboard and Mouse to make sure your input settings are the ones most comfortable for you when using the keyboard. It is possible a repeat rate could cause a delay.
Edit: I attempted to answer another of your questions here recently with an update:
    http://discussions.apple.com/click.jspa?searchID=-1&messageID=3988468
Please take a look and see if it answers your question.
