Safari and Other application crashes

Question

I am unable to complete any software downloads via the Software Updater, nor can I launch Safari. I am able to access the intranet via MS Internet Explorer 5. The error report for this and the other crashes all reference the same thing.

the log says it all really - albeit somewhat opaque perhaps??

Webcore is looking for something in Javascriptcore, and can't find it there. The possible reasons for this don't really matter , but one or more files need to be replaced.
The usual fix for this exact log error is to install the 10.4.8 combo update for PPC processors .
Sometimes this hasn't worked first time, and applying the update again has done the trick.
Failing that, I can likely post the files you need on rapidshare or similar, if you want to avoid a full archive & install.
