Safari and tabs changing with no warning

I think this started happening after some update of Safari.
I open several tabs at once and Safari automatically changes to the first tab when it's done loading, but in the middle of loading the second tab. It's highly annoying and I wish I could turn this feature off, but I can't figure out how.
Any information would be appreciated

Welcome to Apple discussions.
An easy thing to try would be to trash the Safari preference file (com.apple.safari.plist) - closing Safari first. Then start Safari and reenter your personal preferences. Occasionally a corrupt preference file will cause strange behavior.

Model and actual device you are talking about?
Apple covers a pretty huge range.. If you mean extreme.. did you reset it to factory and start over.. that is always necessary when you change a network. You cannot pick up a router from one home and network and plonk it into another and have it work.. aint gonna happen.
You also need to power down any pure cable modem for 20min or so to get it to forget the old MAC address that captured the IP so the Apple ??? has a chance to work.

TS3366 iOS 7: Back and Forward Gesture in Safari and Mail conflicts with Panning Gesture

Back and Forward Gesture in Safari and Mail is different than the back and forward gesture used to swipe between Home screens. The simple swipe with the thumb straight does not work in Safari and Mail, it conflicts with the Panning gesture. It should be relatively easy to improve the algorithm to allow for that gesture to work.

Indeed, swiping back from pdf pages sometimes works, but most often does not.
It seems that the swiping gesture has in all cases changed slightly. It is now necessary to swipe a little until a portion of the previous page is uncovered, and only then can one swipe back.
The fact that there is a specific way to swipe back from html pages suggests that there might be an equally specific way to swipe back from pdf pages. I am still experimenting. Meanwhile make sure no one is sitting to your right in case your trackpad flies off during a gesture trial.

On reboot - wallpaper, safari and word change to previous settings.

Thanks in advance for help. As aforemetioned, on reboot the computer seems to revert to an earlier state, where the desktop wallpaper changes to previous setting from a couple of days ago, with safari and word automatically opening with articles and webites that were open and being used at that time.
I am still able to open and save new documents, but the computer seems to revert back to this 'set-point' on restart, meaning i have to close these webpages everytime, and change my background picture too.
I updated to lion 10.7.3 just before this started to happen, too.

Try disabling the Lion "resume" feature...
Open System Preferences > General
Deselect: Restore windows when quitting and re-opening apps
Restart your Mac.

Various applications are crashing on my iPad, including Facebook, Safari, and TwoDots, along with others. I have tried all of the solutions I found except doing a factory reset and downloading the backed up iCloud version of the iPad. What do I do?

When I try to open or access some features of these apps, I get the
loading sign, then the screen turns black, and it takes me to my Home screen. Sometimes this also occurs when opening links in Facebook and Safari, and some of my Apps are completely useless as a result of this. I have rebooted thrice, re-downloaded the apps, and tried clearing them from the queue, nothing works. Also, I have noticed that the background of the home screen is oriented incorrectly at times, (background is portrait whilst the rest of the screen is landscape) and I'm really at a loss. I assume it's a glitch with iOS 7.1.1... The iPad is a 4th generation and has shown no problems until recently, around when I updated. I'm not jail broken or anything, but my Wal-Mart warranty has expired. What should I do?

IMO, you answered your own question with your lead in about backing up, erasing the device and restoring from the backup. That's what I would try next.
If that doesn't work, I would backup with iTunes, and restore the iOS again using iTunes. You can't restore the iOS by simply erasing the device. You have to use iTunes in order to reinstall the iOS.

It can only be reversed manually, i.e. By putting everything back one by one. However it's the only way to use iCloud and keep the contacts you already have on your device.

I cannot connect to my earthlink email using Firefox ??? I can access through Safari and have talked with Earthlink. Also, ever since Firefox has changed format, the speed of my service has been diminished. What is going on???

It sounds like you have done most of the troubleshooting in http://support.apple.com/kb/ts2972, and home sharing on one computer. I dont know if you have done this, but I would next check the Firewall settings with that article.

If you have a firewall enabled in your router or computer, make sure that the firewall is not blocking communication between your computers. Home Sharing uses TCP port 3689 and UDP port 5353 to communicate with shared iTunes libraries.
In addition, Apple TV and Mac computers will use port 123 to set the time automatically. Incorrect date and time on either the computer or Apple TV can cause errors for Home Sharing and connections in general.
If you are unsure whether your router has a firewall or the required ports open, test additional devices or another network to help isolate the issue. If the devices tested work on another home network, it is your router or network configuration.
For Mac OS X, you don't have to edit the port addresses, but make sure the firewall in Apple () menu > System Preferences > Security > Firewall are not set to:
Block all incoming connections
Allow only essential services
If you use another security/firewall software on your computer or router, follow this article or contact the manufacturer or check the documentation on how to open TCP ports 123 and 3689 as well as UDP ports 123 and 5353.

My custom ringtones randomly change with out warning.

I cant cant pinpoint when it happens but all my ringtones change without warning. This is frustrating due to the fact that all my important contacts have a very loud ring tone and when the phone changes them sometimes they end up with a very low one. HELP!!!!!

Gmail crashes safari and tabs are messed up

Ever since I got a new MacBook Pro with Lion (transferred everything over from my old MacBook pro which was running 10.6), Safari has been really flaky. Most of the problems seem to be when I'm using Gmail. Safari will freeze, crash, log me out of gmail. Happens a few times a day, even if I"m running nothing else. I already turned all extensions off and i've done every update apple has offered.
An additional problem is that sometimes Safari gets my tabs confused. As in I'm looking at one tab, click on another one and it appears to switch to that tab but the page displayed is the one I was just on. And whatever I was looking at on that 'replaced' tab is no longer available.
Any advice or things to try would be warmly welcomed. I have no idea what I can even try to fix it. I don't want to switch back to firefox, i ditched that for being slower than molasses a few months ago.

Could be a third party plugin causing Safari to crash > Safari: Unsupported third-party add-ons may cause Safari to unexpectedly quit or have performance issues
Deleteing Google cookies may help the gmail issue.
Go to Safari / Preferences - Privacy. Click Details.
Delete all Google/gmail related cookies.
And for the tabs issue try troubleshooting the Safari .plist (preferences)
Go to ~/Library/Preferences. Move the com.apple.Safari.plist file from the Preferences folder to the Desktop.
Quit then relaunch Safari to test. If that helped, move the .plist file to the Trash.
~ (Tilde) character represents your Home folder.
For LIon: To find the Home folder in OS X Lion, open the Finder, hold the Option key, and choose Go > Library
If nothing above has helped, post a crash report.
If Safari has just crashed, press the Report button on the CrashReporter dialog box to view the crash information.
Copy/paste the entire contents of the Crash Reporter window into your reply. If the crash report dialog does not appear or the crash is hard to reproduce, crash logs can be retrieved from the ~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter> folder.

Safari CSS layout changed with new 5.1 version??

The latest release of Safari (5.1 6534.50) for OS X 10.6.8 and Windows that was released just after Lion was launched has caused some strange changes in the layouts of my Web sites. On certain pages with form fields, text on the same line has changed position to where some of the text now is positioned higher than other parts of the text.
The only difference in the text is the use of BOLD tags or SPAN tages around text. THis also seems to only occur in a row where there is text AND a form field, such as a text input field. Very very strange. No other release of Safari to-date has ever screwed up formatting - its typically IE that has all those problems.

I really dont want to have to go back and change hundreds of pages of our online application to have special code just for Safari to deal with this new formatting bug.
Does anyone at Apple have any ideas as to why this issue is occuring?

Safari continues to freeze, with a warning quick shudder?

Have tried the offered solutions, but it continurs to freeze (perhaps more often) with a short shudder to announce the freeze.

Several things to try...
From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Empty Cache. See if Safari freezes. If it does, back to the menu bar click Safari > Reset Safari. Select the top 5 boxes, click Reset. If that didn't help...
Might be a corrupted preferences. Quit Safari.
Go to ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Safari.plist
Move the com.apple.Safari.plist file from the Preferences folder to the Desktop.
Relaunch Safari. If it doesn't freeze, move that .plist file to the Trash, otherwise move it back to the Preferences folder.
If it wasn't a preference issue, go to Safari > Preferences then select the Security tab.
Deselect: Enable plug ins. Quit then relaunch Safari to test. if it doesn't freeze, then you need to troubleshoot Safari add ons > Safari: Unsupported third-party add-ons may cause Safari to unexpectedly quit or have performance issues
If it's not a plugin issue, try Safari in another user account. If it crashes there, that can be an indication that the startup disk needs repairing.
You need to use Lion Recovery to do that.

Safari and Tabs!

Safari could learn a thing or two from firefox and a few other browsers about tabs. Don't get me wrong I do like Safari more so than firefox besides one thing. It gives you no warning when closing the page when you have something 10 tabs open. It would seem like an easy update and a welcome update. I can't tell you how many times I have almost closed all the pages and yeah I have done it a few times too. Just wondering if I'm the only one who had crip about it.

Yeah I switched to Shiira about a week ago, talk about fast. Man it leaves Safari in the dust. I still use Safari, but not as my main browser anymore. So I guess I could run it in Rosseta now that I think about it. I know this is posted all over the place but could you tell me how to run it in Rosseta.?. Thanks!!!

Safari and Firefox problems with wireless network

I have seen similar questions to mine on the forums recently. Here's my story: I have 5 month old Mac Book with Leopard, no airport extreme, just the inbuilt Airport card. I connec through the internet with Netgear. I have been on to Apple support who went through all the checks, nothing wrong they say, and suggest I contact Netgear. This I did, rebooted router, switched on/off, updated firmware. And still the same problems - pages ultra slow to load, messages saying I am not connected to the internet but running network diagnostics informs me I am. I have to resend pages three times to get them to load. It's driving me nuts. A couple of things then: should I check the box for 'remember password in keychain' when I'm loggin on to my own secure network? Maybe the keychain not remembering is slowing it down. I also read that with one of the key chain updates (I update automatically so I presume I did this some time back) the airport card might not work, and safe restart is required. Do I need to do this?
I know Apple don't take responsibility for third party equipment, like the Netgear router, but my mac worked amazingly with the internet until about 2 weeks ago, and I have updated everything with Netgear. Any ideas?

I believe the WebKitPlugInHost needs to be updated for Safari as It crashes whenever I am playing FarmVille on FaceBook.

Why does paintbrush size and tools change with zooming?

Why does the paintbrush tool change sizes when zooming in and out? It's so annoying. Is there a way to fix this? Btw I use version CS4. Does it happen to all the other tools? I tried them it seems not but I can't tell unless it's a big difference in brush size like the paintbrush tool. Thanks for any help!

I was going to answer the same Rob, but then I tried it and found that it doesn't do that. If I draw a stroke with the paintbrush and then zoom in, the brush remains the same size and if I draw another stroke it is thinner than the first and so on as you zoom in further.
I think that is what the OP is asking about... since the paint brush is not working with lines, the thickness of the stroke probably is not treated a a pixel-based property, more as a fill, so the thickness of the stroke does change on the stage relative to the coordinate system, getting thinner as you zoom in, but the tool/stroke itself stays the same size to the user -- meaning... if it looks like it's 1/4 inch thick relative to holding a ruler to the screen, you will see it as being 1/4" thick on your screen regardless of the zoom factor.
