Safari and yahoo email access

On a new macbook, when trying to access yahoo email, Safari says "cannot find server" although yahoo/google, etc search works ok and yahoo server is up??

Considering Apple isn't responsible for third party mail clients, you'll have a hard time convincing Apple it's their problem with Safari.
Try deleting Yahoo cookies in Safari / Preferences - Details.
Try emptying the Safari cache more often.
Select the top 5 button when you reset Safari from the menu bar.
Try disabling Safari Extensions located in Safari / Preferences.
Try troubleshooting Safari third party add ons here.

  • Safari and yahoo mail not getting along

Safari and Yahoo Mail don't seem to be getting along this past month

    Hi powerbook1701!
It is a shame...Yahoo has always been bad with Safari...I think most people here keep a copy of Firefox/Camino for cases like this when webdesigners don't make their pages compatible with Safari. It's not much of a problem anymore but there are still a few sites depending on where you surf...
Actually the reason I started using Mail is because the standard Yahoo mail wouldn't display custom fonts, etc. on Mac. At that time not even with Firefox for Windows. But I'm glad that I switched because I enjoy using Mail much more that Yahoo's webmail which by the way was never good at searching...
Oops this sounds like Yahoo bashing!!! It's not meant to be...just letting you know other people have the same issues you're experiencing...
    Reg

  • Is anyone else having email problems such as apps exiting in the middle of an email? It may be a wireless issue. I use First Class for work and yahoo email for personal. I will be in the middle of typing a long email and the app just quits, all data lost.

Have you tried restarting or resetting your iPad?
Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after the iPad shuts down, then press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10 seconds). Ignore the "Slide to power off"

  • Trying to get Hotmail and Yahoo email on Palm Tungsten C

Was very excited when I got this palm from ebay and read thru the instruction manual and have done a lot of searching but can't find the answer to this:  How do I get my hotmail and yahoo email to show up on my Tungsten C thru versamail.
For Hotmail Under Account Set up I have
    Account Name:  Hotmail
    Mail Service:  Other
    Protocol: POP
    synchronize only accounts unchecked
User name my email address w/@hotmail.com
Password:  Entered and it says Assigned
    Email address:  my email address
    Incoming mail Server: pop3.live.com
    outgoing mail server:  smpt.live.com
Then it says "your hotmail account is completed...."
    incoming mail options:
    port number 995
    use secure connection (SSL) checked
    maximum message size 5KB
    Advanced outgoing options:
    Port Number: 25
my server requires authentication (ESMTP) checked
user name:  my email address w/ @hotmail.com
    and password entered and assigned
When I hit done and click get mail it says "connecting to mail server" then times out after about 30 seconds.
    Yahoo settings:
    Account Name Yahoo
Mail service Yahoo (already in the Palm as a choice)
    Protocol:  Pop
    sync only account : unchecked
    username: my username w/out @yahoo.com
    password: entered and assigned
    Email address: autfilled
    incoming mail surver: pop.mail.yahoo.com
    outgoing mail server: smtp.mail.yahoo.com
    Incoming Mail Options:
    Port Number: 110
    User secure connection (ssl) unchecked
    Max msg size 5 KB
    Advanced Outgoing Options:
    Port Number 25
My server requires authentication (ESMTP): checked
    User name: my user name
    Password: entered and says assigned
When I click get mail it says "ERR[sys/perm] pop not allowed for user.
I have no clue what I'm doing wrong or if its even possible but any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks!
    Post relates to: Tungsten C

I just set up my Gmail account on my TX using Versamail, and it works seamlessly.  In the setup screen, US gmail is a service option to select, which then automatically prefills all of the server and security settings shown below.  The version of Versamail on your Tungsten C is older so it might not have all these options, but here are the settings:
    Account name: Gmail
    Protocol: Pop
Username: your gmail username (just the name, not the @gmail.com)
    Password: your gmail password
    email address: [email protected]
    incoming mail server: pop.gmail.com
    outgoing mail server: smtp.gmail.com
    incoming server settings:
    Port number 995
    Use Secure Connection (SSL): check
    Use Authentication (APOP): uncheck
    outgoing server settings:
    port number: 25
    Use Secure Connection (SSL): check
    Use Authentication (ESMTP): check
    username: [email protected]

Those are all of the available settings in Versamail on the TX, which is Versamail version 3.1C
Hope this helps.  If it doesn't work, you could see if SnapperMail will work.  It's a third-party email app which is very robust and has a free trial period before you buy.  Short of that, you might just have to upgrade to a newer device.

When I close a link in an email,  I am also taken out of the email program and Safari.  To view the next email I must reopen Safari and the email program each time.

Empty the Safari cache by pressing Command + Option + E on your keyboard.
    Quit and relaunch Safari.
See if that made a difference.
If not, from the Safari menu bar click History > Clear History
Quit and relaunch Safari to test.

  • I've lost my yahoo email access on playbook and yahoo says it's BlackBerry's doing - please help

It's now day 2 of no playbook mail. I kept getting a yellow triangle saying yahoo account not available or couldn't access. The yahoo site says blackberry has done this and blackberry  is working to resolve - is this true ?? If so it seriously sucks, as my internet provider is Rogers, just like many people, and Rogers uses yahoo mail. Can someone p,ease confirm and help with thus? B TW:  my iPod email is working fine, so its not my Rogers/yahoo email that's the problem. Thanks for your help, Carolxi

Hi TroyTempest, here is the reply link you asked for from yahoo. My issue is how to regain my e-mail. I have outlook on my pc, but Rogers has this downloaded from the yahoo account anyway, so I can't figure out how to fix this. I would be extremely grateful if you could help, perhaps list steps if there is an answer? Thanks so much.

That article was last updated March 16th 2012.  I don't think we would have put up with this problem for that time would we???
All you can do is delete the account and add it back taking care with the account details.
If people with Rogers email accounts say their Playbook works fine then it ain't the Playbook OS, it's the way it interacts with Your playbook and Your Rogers account.  It's in the settings I would think, but everybody with email problems should delete and re-add as first line of attack.

  • READ This if you have a Yahoo email access issues on iPhone

It's just (10:53) been confirmed to me over the phone with 02 iPhone support that there is an email server down at Yahoo which is affecting iPhone email access for accounts set up on your iPhone with the Add Account - Yahoo Mail wizard.
There is NO estimation for a fix time, but support advised you to access your email via the safari browser (if you are mobile) and web access during this down time. Just go to http://new.m.yahoo.com
    I hope this helps
Follow me on twitter and I'll post updates as I get them:

Thanks very much indeed for this, daccad. Would you mind if I pasted what you've written in the appropriate thread on the O2 forum?

  • Safari and Yahoo Mail Beta

I had already reported this problem three times through Safari, but I had no answer and yahoo mail beta is already unreachable with Safari 2.0 (mac os x 10.4.8)
    Here the first message:
    "Why miss out?
To see all the new Yahoo! home page has to offer, please upgrade to a more recent browser.
    Supported browsers include:
Internet Explorer 7 optimized by Yahoo!
    Firefox 1.5
    Safari 2.0 (I have this!)
    Opera 8.5
Then I try to access, I insert my user id and pwd but instead of looking the webpage I get a message (from Safari):
to set up UTF 8 in browser's coding; I click ok and the message come back (looply). Then I block the loading of the page, I change the settings under the view menu, but again I have the same message:
    What can I do?
    thx for answering!

  • Safari and Yahoo mail now incompatible with 10.5.1

eesh. it appears 10.5.1 blocks Safari from signing into Yahoo mail. other browsers work. anyone experiencing this?

The newest Safari is not officially supported yet by the "NEW" AT&T Yahoo email program.
But it works still, it just overrides the request (mail.yahoo.com/dc/launch?sysreq=ignore)
It still works with the old one though.
The folks at Yahoo didn't code their pages to be multi- browser compatible.
They expect you to use Internet Exploder.
Might complain to your AT&T folks.

  • Exchange and Yahoo email

I could not add my exchange email and my yahoo email accounts on my MAIL on my MacBook(MAc OS X Leopard)Can somebody help me?
I added my Gmail with no problems!

    Thanks razmee209.
I would agree with you if I still couldnt send the reply by changing the sender to my yahoo account; but as I mentioned before - whenever the mail fails to send, I can ALWAYS send it by changing the sender to my yahoo account.
I agree that it must be something within the original mail, but why does it trigger a failure if I reply from my exchange account and not my yahoo yahoo account.
I can delete the Exchange account and re-add it, but it makes no difference. I've also rebooted the phone but again, no difference.

  • I have aol and yahoo email. Can I use thunderbird to acces either

eCan I put my yahoo and aol email account on thunderbird and use thunderbird to read email on either account

Yes. Just add the account details for both email providers to Thunderbird.

  • My MacBook Pro randomly disconnects from Safari and can only access it after I restart my computer...What is wrong? and how do I fix it?

I restored my MBP to factory thinking that would help...NOPE! I spend a great portion of my day on the web, networking for my writing, what can I do...getting desparate.

While I'm using Safari, whatever site I'm on...freezes, it just locks and won't refresh or do anything. I'm unable to redirect to anyother links or sites. At this moment I have to close Safari and restart my computer to get my internet to work proper again for a short while. I am on a wireless network. Everything worked great with NO problems for the past year then about 3 weeks ago I started having these issues. I've never used anything but Safari. My GMAIL also went funky at the same time and wouldn't display properly. Since I restored my MBP, my GMAIL is working again, but the internet still freezes. When it freezes, my airport still shows full connection.

  • FireFox and Yahoo email problems - specific FireFox problem.

    - FireFox often does not list attachments properly if at all thus cannot be downloaded. This problem does not exist when using Safari or the Windows Firefox. Yahoo Inbox shows that the email has an attachment, but when the email is opened,
    - The listing of emails in the 'Inbox' does not have either a page number or scroll bar. This problem does not exist with Safari or the Windows FireFox (accessed via Windows via Parallels.)
    - Sometimes the 'Inbox' mail items do not display at all despite clicking on the icon. This sometimes happens with the other folder icons such as Sent. Logging out & back in seems to fix it.
    - Sometimes I log into Yahoo Mail & all my custom folders are missing. Again, this problem only occurs with the OSX FireFox version. Unless I click on Folders. But this is a little inconvenient as I have some mail deliberately sent to specific custom folders & will not know if there is any new mail in such folders unless I click on folders. Folders should show below the inbox, be open & not cover over the inbox icon.
I updated FireFox a month ago which temporarily fixed these problems but the problems have been back for the past couple of weeks.
    FireFox 24.0
    MacOSX 10.6.8, MacPro 2008

I've discovered the problem is mostly Yahoo! 7's new design. Going to Options and switching to Basic view helped for some issues such as folders and attachments. At this point problems seem to have gone. I'd recommend this for anybody else having a similar issue. And do NOT click on the 'Switch to the newest Yahoo!7 Mail' link! :D

  • Safari and Yahoo Mail

For the last few days I have prompted a million times from my yahoo ID and password even though I just logged in as selected "remember me on this computer". Anytime I click on a link within yahoo, I am almost always asked to re-enter the information. This also happens if I stay on one page for too long then try to go to another page.
I've set Safari to accept all cookies, I've changed my Yahoo account settings to prompt me the least number of times. I don't know what else to do. Yahoo suggests that perhaps it's the browser with the problem. Please help. It's real annoying to type a super, duper long email only to hit "send" and then be told my "session" has expired and lose the entire email.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions
The "timeout" varies by the type of Yahoo account you are using. If you use "Yahoo Plus" ($20/yr), then your "timeout" period is extended to 24 hours. Also, there are no flash ads appearing. Otherwise, as you have seen, the timeout is much shorter.
If you want your Yahoo sign-in info, including password, to appear automatically, then use SAFT. One of its many features is "leave auto-complete on". Useful feature for the desktop or laptop. On my laptop, I use it to access certain sites, which otherwise would require my entering my password each time. On those sensitive sites, I simply set my keychain password selection to "never for this site".
