Safari App missing when creating new accounts

When I create new Standard acccounts, the Apple default Apps show up in the dock, except for Safari which is a gray question mark. If I go to the application folder I can start Safari with no issues. Why is Safari not appearing on the dock for new accounts? I've tried created several new accounts and there is the same issue. Any ideas?

Sounds like a screwed up LaunchServices database. Easiest thing to do is OPTION-drag the ? icon off the dock and then drag the Safari icon back into the same place. If you want to reset the LS database, run this command in the Terminal.app (all one line) and restart.

You're right. Also editing an existing index, the dialog doesn't display the current values, it just defaults out.

Mail 2.1.3 (753.1/753) locks up when creating new account window

Apple Mail lets you create a new blank account window in
Mail -> Preferences... -> Accounts
by holding the [alt] key and clicking [+].
Creating a new, blank account window lets you avoid using the annoying "wizard" that launches if you simply click the [+]. (The wizard spends a long time testing your entries so, if you are not sure whether your username is supposed to be in the format "martin" or "[email protected]" or "martin+somewhere.com" or "martin%somewhere.com", you can spend a long time watching that wheel spinning!)
However, it has always been a little "flakey" and now, with version 2.1.3 (753.1/753), it causes Mail to "lock up" (become unresponsive to mouse clicks) and requires a forced quit.
I've tested this on three completely different G4 Macs (running 10.4.11) and get the same symptoms with each. I have also tried Mail 2.1 (752/752.2) on a G4/1.2GHz iBook and that works fine. So my guess is that the later update broke it.

Yes, Leopard is fine. The problem lies with Tiger and Mail Mail 2.1 (752/752.2)
I wasn't expecting a reply - I've tested this on 3 separate Macs. I'm convinced it's a bug in this version only.

Please help, my account will be locked. The safety email is s*****@gmail.con. It ends with .con. IT ENDS WITH .con. Since the last time you people didn't take that into account I decided to make it very obvious. Also, I can't change the email because I have to answer the security questions. Which I can't do because out of 4 choices, none are correct, and I can't get a reset email because the email doesn't exist and will never exist. I'm getting irritated because I also can't get proper support, mostly because I connot call, and the support I received didn't solve my problem because they didn't bother to read the whole problem. The other option is the ExpressLane at https://expresslane.apple.com and then iTunes, iTunes Store, Password and Security Questions, Forgotten Security Questions and then you have choices for making contact but those are still limited to calls or rescue email. So this comes back to the same problem if you cannot call or receive an email.

You can't. Apps and really all content purchased/downloaded through one Apple ID is forever tied to that Apple ID. In the case of Apps they will always request that Apple ID to update as they are licensed to that Apple ID.
In reality, the Apps were licensed to that Apple ID by the developer. And cannot simply be given away to you for you to use.
He should have wiped the iPod clean so you could set it up for your use without any of his accounts or purchased content as you are not really licensed to any of those Apps.

click on apple ID listed there
select Sign Out
sign in with the proper account
from then on, when the store ask for your password it should be with the correct ID

You need to ask Apple to reset your security questions; ways of contacting them include clicking here and picking a method for your country, phoning AppleCare and asking for the Account Security team, and filling out and submitting this form.

Just update everything with new info/change password/ security questions.

OS? Version of ID?

Selling iBook, how restore OS X so it would play the intro and allow to create new account?

So I'm about to sell my iBook G4 which has Leopard in it.
Is it possible to restore it to a state where when the new owner boots it up it plays the intro video and allows him to create new account, without the old account still being present? I don't have anything important stored on that machine so of course I could just delete all stuff and leave it there but it would nice to allow the new owner to enter his own information, I tend to enter false information so my actual name or address etc. is not stored anywhere.

To implement the solution, please execute the following steps:
1. Go into the responsibility: System Administrator
2. Navigate to Profile > System.
3. Clear the value at the Site level for the profile option IRC: Geocode Host.
4. Retest the issue.

Ordering Prints - "Create New Account" Bug

I would like to order some prints through Aperture. However, when it asks me to sign in, I enter my information and it takes me to a "Create New Account" page. My Apple ID is valid and works will all other Apple products. Anyone else experiencing this bug?
I'm using a RD MacBook Pro, and the latest version of Apeture 3.

Just enter all your current information, as if it was asking to "confirm" it, not "create" a new account. You may even have to do this twice, for reasons I've never been able to figure out, but it WILL work if you just input your current information. It's weird.
