Safari app restricted.

My Safari app has apparently become restricted - under settings/general/restrictions the Safari app is turned off and I cannot change the restriction (switch the off to on). Not sure what happened as the app simply no longer showed up on my interface. What am I missing in terms of the fix? Thanks in advance.

Do you have an Exchange account set up on the phone? For example, your business e-mail?
It is possible for Exchange administrators to disable web browsing on phones connected to the Exchange server. It's also possible for them to do things like force you to use a passcode to access the phone and disable the camera.
If you have an Exchange account set up, try removing it and see if this clears up the problem.  If it does, your choices are:
a) DON'T try to set up your corporate e-mail account on the phone.
b) Live with the restriction.
c) Buy your IT staff beer and ask them politely if they'll remove the restriction.

  • Why can't I enable safari within restrictions

Safari disappeared off my iPhone dock.
After looking at the restrictions I found that safari was set to OFF and greyed out.
Turning on/off the restrictions does not allow the safari app restriction to be turned on/off.

Your IT dept. can restrict Safari through a profile installed on your phone when you setup your exchange account. Check with them to see if in fact they've restricted Safari.

  • Hi, I just bought a new iphone 5c. I 'had' the safari, app store and itunes available, they dissappeared from the phone and now i cannot download any cool games or even browse the internet. How can I get them back?

I would really like to download apps however this isn't possible as safari, app store and itunes are deleted from my homescreen? Where can I go about installing them to the phone again a.s.a.p??

Check Settings > General > Restrictions on Safari, iTunes, etc.

  • My app store icon is gone as well as my safari app

My App Store and Safari apps are gone

I had the App Store and iTunes gone, search wouldn't find them, Apple support said "That's impossible.  I don't even know how to make it DO that".
Well, novice here, 1st time iPhoner.  Followed the out of the box setup originally so Reloading the IOS fixed it until I'd reload my "saved phone" when it would be gone again.  Apple said the "saved phone" was obviously damaged. OR, I fixed both by:
    Settings
         Restrictions
Remove restrictions on above two apps.
And I reverse checked it. "Restricting" them makes they completely disappear, yet they're still there to turn back on.

  • I some how deleted the safari app on my iphone as well as my app store and the itunes store app how do i get it back?

I some how deleted the safari app on my iphone as well as my app store and the itunes store app how do i get it back?

They are pre-installed apps and therefore cannot be deleted so you may have inadvertently moved them onto a screen or into a folder.  Check all screens and folders and do a search in Spotlight, it will tell you if the apps are still on your iPhone but unfortunately not where it is. If you find them on one or your screens or in a folder, press the icon until it wiggles and then drag it back to where you want it.  Alternatively you can reset your home screen in Settings>General>Reset>Reset Home Screen Layout.  Also check Settings>General>Restrictions and make sure Safari, iTunes and Installing Apps and Deleting Apps are all ON.

  • HT201272 After a recent upgrade for my i-phone 4S, the safari app disappeared and I can't find it in the app store to reload it.  Apart from resetting the iphone does anyone have any other suggestion?

    Safari missing
After a recent upgrade, I noticed that the safari app was missing.  I can't find it anywhere to reload it.  Any suggestions?

It's a built-in app so it won't appear in the store.
If you can't find it on any of your homescreens or app folders, and you can't find it via the spotlight search screen (swipe your first home screen to the right), then is it hidden by Settings > General > Restrictions > Safari being set 'off' ?
If not then have you tried a reset to see if you can find it after the phone has restarted ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the equivalent of a reboot.

  • Safari app has disappeared

The Safari app in my iphone 4s has disappeared.

It can not be deleted. It's either been moved to another page or into a folder, or hidden either by setting restrictions, or as a result of a corporate Exchange policy if you have added an Exchange account to your phone.

  • Hidden "Safari"apps in iphone 6 plus

I got a new iphone 6 Plus and noticed the "Safari" apps is not displayed  but can be seen in General>Usage>Manage Storage, with other apps.
Question: how to activate so that the Safari apps to appear in the main apps screen.
I had tried to Reset Home screen but cannot bring back the Safari icon.

Go to Settings/General/Restrictions and see if Safari is restricted. Apps that are restricted can't be found on any of the screens. Once the restrictions is disabled, the app will show up again on the phone.

  • Help... Missing Safari, App Store, Itunes store.

I recently updated my iPhone to the latest firmware and when I looked at it this morning I noticed that my Safari app, iTunes store app, and my App Store app icons were no where to be found. How do I get them back?

You don't need to enable Restrictions to see what is available as a restriction.
You enabled Restrictions by entering a passcode but you didn't turn any restrictions on followed by disabling Restrictions which requires entering the Restrictions passcode?
If so, try an iPhone reset, which is done by pressing and holding the home button and the sleep/wake or on/off button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo and then release - ignoring the slide to turn off prompt when doing so.

  • Safari app disappeared from 3GS

My husband's 3GS no longer shows the icon for Safari app. He sync'ed the phone. Still no Safari. He did a reset. Still no Safari. I checked online and there are messages saying that restrictions may be turned on. I checked and YES! Restrictions are turned on. So when I tried to turn restricions off, It asked for a password! My husband has never put a password on the phone! We tried a couple of numbers and then got worried that if we tried Again the whole phone might be bricked! So now how do we proceed?

NO this is just a private iPhone, no corporation or anything.
Hmm. I thought he did restore as new. I guess after doing that then he put the backup on! So he should Do anotehr rstore as new. Then he will have to add in his address book again? Or just do a sync? If he does a syn wll that put the passcode on again?
Thanks so MUCH for you prompt answer. I hope we can get this working. You are so nice to help me.

  • Safari App disappeared from my iPhone

Just disappeared. I went through a full restore and still the Safari App isn't appearing on my iPhone. Checked settings and everything appears normal.

    Have you checked other pages?
    Is it in a folder?
Have you done a search for it?
    DO you have restrictions set?

  • Safari App Gone

After doing the latest update for my ipod touch, I noticed my safari app was gone. I know it can't be deleted, so how do I get it back? I have checked, and the restrictions are off. I've reset the home screen and it didn't come back.

Well those are the first two things I would have done too, Nomad27. I'm assuming your touch is not under the control of a network admin who could have set restrictions?
Can you Search for it and find it? I'm wondering if it could be hidden in a folder or if you have hit the limit of 11 screens. Also, have you tried restarting it by pressing and holding the Sleep/Wake button until a red slider appears and then sliding your finger across the slider and iPod touch will turn off after a few moments?
If all else fails, you may have to restore. Arrgghhh, I know.

  • Mysteriously my safari app disappeared from my Ipod Touch 3rd gen.  How do I reload it?  I "restored" my ipod from my Mac Book, but still no safari.  Any help appreciated.

My ipod touch 3rd gen suddenly lost the safari app.  I restored it from my mac book sync, but still no app.  I'm wondering if when I messed around with "restrictions" through settings did something.  Any help is appreciated.

Go to your Home screen on the iPod then swipe to the left so you see the white search field top of the window. Type in: Safari  then tap Search.
Tap Settings / General / Restrictions. On or off?
