Safari as My Email Browser

I use Safari as my browser for my Verizon FiOS Internet Email Address and also for AOL and Yahoo. I have problems with all I'm not sure if the problem is Safari, Verizon, AOL Desktop or Yahoo Apps.
*Verizon and Yahoo Behavior:* Loads very fast but when I try to forward an Email with Attachments the text looses it margins an the text is scattered across the page. The attachments are placed into an attachment menu for reattachment but the format has been lost.
*AOL Behavior:* The format is retained except for Email with an Earthlink address which converts pictures (JPEG) to pages of Greek text. All Email with attachments always loads very slow showing the spinning gear with the note: *Message Content Loading* some times this takes several minutes. I can close the window then reopen it may open promptly, when not I may have to Quit AOL and then reopen. AOL seems to behave better for content but the opening speed is poor.
My Verizon FiOS Speed Tests show speeds of Download @ 10.223 mbps and upload @ 10.685 mbps which downloads large apps in minutes which used to take several hours with Dial-up downloads @ about 3 minutes per MB or slower.
Safari version 4.0.5 (4531.22.7) the latest Software Update for my G4 Mac and OS 10.4.11

Firefox works better than Safari on Verizon and Yahoo Email it retains the format and attached pictures as the original when Forwarding.
With AOL Firefox is slightly better in opening mail with attachments; in this case I feel the problem is AOL.
I use Safari for internet surfing it is superior as this function. Would like to see some improvement in Safari in future upgrades in handling Email.

Upgrading to Yosemite

Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mavericks, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion at the Online Apple Store. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax. It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.

Can't set Safari as default web browser

I recently installed Firefox as a back up web browser for when I have problems with Safari. Now whenever I click a link in an email it opens up Firefox even though Safari is already opened. My default web browser has set itself for Firefox and has even removed Safari as an option! I have to choose "Select" to get to my apps folder to choose Safari. But even then the email links insist on opening Firefox and when I restart my computer, Firefox is once again the seleceted browser in the Safari prefrences. How can I keep this from happening?

I believe to change the default browser all you have to do is open Safari -> Preferences -> General -> Default browser. That should change it for you.
Didn't finish reading the last post. You can try to delete the firefox preference file org.mozilla.firefox.plist or using a program like pref setter to edit the apple.safari.plist though I wouldn't recommend that unless your very familiar with the OS. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Open Activity Monitor in Applications>Utilities, select All Processes & sort on CPU%, any indications there?
How much RAM & free space do you have also, click on the Memory & Disk Usage Tabs.
Open Console in Utilities & see if there are any clues or repeating messages when this happens.
In the Memory tab, are there a lot of Pageouts?

I do not really know much about this kind of problem, but i may be your internet connection.
If you are on your own #G network then:
Go to Settings > then enable "Airplane Mode". Count to 10 and then disable it.
Then wait patiently until you get a good connection and then try again.
If you are on a nearby Wi-Fi connection then:
Go to Settings > Wi-Fi > then disable then enable after counting to 10. Make sure that you are connected and then try again.
If all else fails, then you need to contact your provider for assistance.

I have a query. I need to play mp3 sound in the safari 5.1.7 browser on windows 7 machine using javascript code.
I have tried all the three tags(<audio> <embed> and <object>) for playing mp3 audio in the javascript function. But I am not able to play sound. I also doubt whether there is a change needs to be done in safari browser settings. Can anyone please guide me on playing mp3 sound.

Try this. In Safari, go to Preferences (in the "Safari" menu). Go to the "General" pane and look at the top for "Default web browser". Use this pull-down menu to set the default ot Safari.

I'm sure others will disagree, but I'm all about saving $. I would start by looking online at the Apple store for refurbished devices. I would also get MORE memory than yout think you will ever need. The stuff we have seems always to expand to fill the space available. I wouldn't get one with cellular capability unless you really, really need it...

Stop Safari from opening last browsing session?

Using Safari 5.1 (7534.58.3). I do a radio show twice per week. While on the show, I open like 30 windows with articles or information I want to discuss on the show.
When I'm done, I close the browser.
Later, when I reopen it, the 15 or so pages i didn't get to come back. Safari has remembered my browsing history and reopened all previous pages from my last broswer session.
I don't like that and want to turn it off.
Can I?
IF so, how?
If not, why not?

Or you can also hold down "Shift" while clicking Safari to skip the loading of your last session when it is launched. This must be done each time though.

From the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
Turn all extensions OFF and test. If the problem is resolved, turn extensions back ON and then disable them one or a few at a time until you find the culprit.

When I close a link in an email I'm taken out of the email program and safari. To view t To view the next email I have to open Safari and the email program each time.

Update safari to obtain private browsing

Although I am running 10.4.5, my version of Safari is 1.3.1. I can't seem to update Safari to add "private Browsing". The installer won't let me update to 1.3.2 and says that I require OS X 10.3.9. Any help would be appreciated, I'm really stuck.

I am surprised that you are still using Safari 1.3.1. Do you know how that happened?
Use the Custom installs in Mac OS X 10.4 feature of Tiger to install Safari 2.0 and then reapply the Mac OS X Update 10.4.5 Combo to get Safari up to version 2.0.3.
