Safari asks me do you want to open or save this file?
Hi,
I am testing HLS on-demand service on FMS4.5 using external Apache configuration instead of using built-in Apache server that comes with FMS. Do you know why I got this message on Safari when I visit my local http server? http://localhost/hls-vod/sample2_1000kbps.f4v.m3u8
I checked mime.types file and it says:
application/vnd.apple.installer+xml
mpkg
application/vnd.apple.mpegurl
m3u8
Please advise.
Thanks,
Myeong
My bad. Never mind. I tested with Safari on Windows.
Thanks,
Myeong

How to remove the bar: ''do you want to open or save this file''?
If i open a PDF file in IE a bar will pop-up with is asking ''do you want to open or save this file''. Is there a posibility to open this file immediatley. So without the bar that will ask if i want to open or save the file? Loking forward for a answer!
I tried putting the below 2 lines of code at the end of button click event & docClose event.
event.target.dirty=false;
event.target.requiresFullSave=false;
It still gives the warning.
Also I tried to found out the line of code which is making the pdf dirty.
xfa.host.messageBox("is doc dirty (before displayInfo's visible-invisible work): " + event.target.dirty);
xfa.form.form1.sendForm.welcomeMsg.presence = "visible";
xfa.form.form1.sendForm.successMsg.presence = "invisible";
xfa.host.messageBox("is doc dirty (after displayInfo's visible-invisible work): " + event.target.dirty);
The doc got dirty when the successMsg field is made invisible.
Problem I am trying to solve is:
To display a welcome message before user action and after user action wants to display a success message.
I follwed the visible & invisible approach & it wokred but gives me a warning on doc close.(Highly imp to avoid it)
Is there any other approach I could follow here. -

According to your post, my understanding is that you got the message “Do you want to open or save this file?”.
You can refer to the following articles to disable this download prompt:

Hi
In our Task in Salesforce we generate one CSV file and one doc file after one button click on salesforce screen. we need to download these two documents without the popup message "Do you want to Open or save this file"
Pls suggest Registry Edit Option Or any IE browser configuration or any
code to get rid of this popup as this is very critical for our Task.
Thanks
KartikThanks Alex... I saw this in another Forum and could you pls let me know if this works...that is there is no prompt on CSV download
Begin in: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE - to change settings for all users
HKEY_CURRENT_USER- to change settings for the current user
Then browse to Software->Microsoft->Internet Explorer->Main->FeatureControl->Feature_Restrict_File_Download
And then set the Value iexplore.exe to 0. If it doesn't exist: Create it (DWORD).
Thanks

IE9 : Do you want to Open or Save this file prompt
Hi,
I understand there have been a few people who have asked this, but I can't seem to find a definite answer on this.
1. Can this be disabled?
2. If not, why not? What is the security feature or concept behind this prompt making it not possible to to be turned off?
3. If this can't be turned off, what do Microsoft recommend to customers in enterprise environments who have this requirement? An e.g. is, a SAP database user who regularly has to download numerous pdf/docx files, but this prompt only
makes the user environment worse. It sure is very much understandable that regularly downloading files from a particular link, becomes annoying to the user if he/she has to click this prompt every time.
Thanks & Regards,Hi,
Base on my research, this function cannot be disabled due to enhance security feature.
This can prevent websites downloading automatically.
In addition, you can also refer this article:
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/ie/archive/2011/03/10/safer-and-faster-downloads-in-ie9.aspx
Thank you for your understanding.

Windows 7 Professional, Microsoft Office 2010 - Outlook 2010.
I had the same problem and just found this solution. Go to the view tab in outlook, find the "people pane" tab (center right in the ribbon) and turn it off. I don't know why it works, but it did.

How to disable "Do you want to open or save..." popup in IE10?
Our company web application UI invokes creation of an excel file by pressing a button on modal dialog. It creates an excel file and tries to open it by Microsoft Excel. The problem is, IE10 brings "Do you want to open..." yellow popup at the bottom
of the screen, and this popup is unavailable, because of modal dialog the excel file creation was launched from. Only when this modal dialog is closed yellow popup became available.
Being not sure if this problem has a resolution without of application redesign, I was thinking about to disable the yellow popup at all. Is it possible? Any ideas?Hi,
Please check if this blog could help here:

We have a SharePoint intranet we use to share documents. I have a user that every time he tries to open an Office document from this site, he receives the prompt: "Do you want to Open or Save this file?". If he opens the file and updates it,
the changes are saved locally on his computer and not onto the website.
The issue doesn't seem to be the site or his permissions because if he tries to do this using my computer instead, he is able to open the file, update it and the updates are saved directly onto the website. It only happens from this specific PC.
The PC is running Win7, IE9 and Office 2010 (same as mine). I also compared the configuration for the different security zones between the 2 PCs and they look the same (internet, intranet and trusted sites). I'm thinking there must be a setting
configured differently somewhere in his IE but I'm not sure what else could be causing his computer to behave differently than mine when performing this task. Any advice would be appreciated...Hi,
Did you mean that you wanted to pop up the dialog of "You are about to open: <Name:file name><From:web site>,How would you like to open this file:Read Only, Edit", update the file and save it back to the current SharePoint library ?
Please check two points below,
Check and make sure add-on "SharePoint OpenDocuments Class" is enabled via IE9(32-bit version) Tools->Manage add-ons from your user's PC. if it doesn't appear, please repair or change the Office 2010 from Control
Panel, make sure to install Microsoft SharePoint Foundation Support within
Office Tools per this
article.
If add-on "SharePoint OpenDocuments Class" has beed enabled, you need to check and disable the the Word
Protected View per this
article, then check result again.
Thanks

I would like to be able to turn off the window that asks me if I want to Open this file or Save it. I get many attachments from the same place and I would like to be able to bypass this window, as I always do the same thing -- open it.
Deleted it, restarted it. tried it again. no change. repeated the whole cycle. no change. thinking about uninstalling and reinstalling, but that won't reallyk change the settings.

The popup says An Adobe AIR update is ready to be installed.
I'm not sure it's really a message from Adobe.
I may not have any need to use AIR if it was installed on my computer by Lenovo or Windows 8.1.
My last computer had a popup that was, I think, a worm which told me I needed to update Flash Player Pro.
So, I'm nervous now about popup messages. I wish all legitimate programs could have options to Automatically install updates.
Can someone tell me if the popup sounds legitimate? Some programs give you a third option of No Thanks but this one just has a box to click for Update Now and a box for Update Later.
Thanks.Shouldn't be a problem. Just like Windows Update, Adobe AIR needs to update itself periodically. Just click Update Now to update to the latest version.

This happens every time an email is opened, regardless of whether there is a file attachment and regardless of whether Firefox is running.
Deleted it, restarted it. tried it again. no change. repeated the whole cycle. no change. thinking about uninstalling and reinstalling, but that won't reallyk change the settings.

"Are you sure you want to open 10 messages?" warning
When I highlight >10 messages to open at once, I get a warning to the effect of "Are you sure you want to open ## messages?" This is annoying, because I obviously highlighted >10 messages, and of course I want to open them all at once. My question is, is there a Terminal command that can turn off this annoying warning?
