Safari Autofill Issues

Dear Team,
I have an issue within Safari where it remembers all my passwords and seems to auto fill them in - but there seems to be two types of auto fill. One were Safari prepopulates the text box (Normally highlighted in Yellow) with the username and password details - then there are other times when it gives you a drop down list to choose from username and passwords.
Im fairly certain something has changed in the latest version as it used to always be a drop down but now I find safari auto filling in boxes where the passwords and usernames are completly different to what it thinks or is trying to auto complete.
The only way I have found to do this is on websites where this happens is to turn off auto complete.
But thats a pain as I then have to re click to enable it again - how do I get it so that they are drop downs giving me the choice to select the passwords ?

I just deleted all my auto fills in the end and along with resetting safari it stopped doing it. I think it may have something to do with the shortcuts I had set on my iphone too. Just keep fiddling with things and it seems to resolve itself.

Since installing Snow Leopard safari autofill won't work

I have checked the safari autofill preferences and have the top box and bottom box checked (not the middle passwords).
This used to work well as soon as I would enter one letter in a form it would complete it. Now I must type in everything even in websites I have visited often and recently.
I had the "word won't print or save as" problem but installing the new 1.1 security update fixed that but not this autofill problem.
What can I do now?

Thanks for the link, but it still doesn't work for me. It fills in some of the information but refuses to do postcodes & countries and telephone numbers are a bit random. It still doesn't do email addresses on many sites - even sites I visit every day. The only thing it gets correct consistently is the first line of my postal address. I tried deleting the contact, creating a new one and making it me - but it still does exactly the same thing.
I finally gave up and ran Chrome. Oh the joy of coming back to a site I visited only yesterday and have all the data I entered available at the click of a mouse; instead of taking minutes to book airport parking it takes seconds! It's like browsers used to be (and, incidentally, much faster than Safari and correctly renders all the sites I visit). It's so frustrating that Apple can't make something work that other browsers have been doing for decades.

Editing Safari AutoFill

I am trying to edit the information in Safari Autofill, but cannot find the form to do it. The Help information says: "Choose Preferences from the Safari menu and click AutoFill. Select the items you want Safari to use.", but when I select Preferences, there is no AutoFill option. Is it somewhere else?

Safari/Autofill not working?

My Autofill form does not seem to be working.

HI,
Open Keychain Access. (Applications/Utilities) Select Passwords on the left then Delete the "Safari AutoFill" item. Quit Keychain Access.
Relaunch Safari. Navigate to a site that requires your username and password. Click "Always Allow" when prompted.

Help! Safari Autofill stopped working for no reason.

My Safari autofill has suddenly stopped working. It used to be that when a form came up on safari I could start filling it out and hit tab and it would fill in the entire form. Now it looks like it might fill in that line, but if I hit tab it doesn';t even complete the line that is highlighted. I think this started to happen after I did the latest OS X software update -- I am now running 10.4.11. I checked autofill on safari and it seems to have all the appropriate boxes checked. And if I go to the pull down menu and pull down edit and do autofill forms, it will do it. But why won't it do it using tab any more?

Safari ios7 issues on iPad Air - can't open new tabs - + sign closes app

Safari ios7 issues on iPad Air - can't open new tabs or view other tabs.
The + sign just closes the app every single time!
In some cases, the back and forward buttons don't work.
It's driving me crazy becuase if the webpage I'm on opens and ad or tab that I don't want to look at, I can't close it and go back, I have to retype the web address in and find where I was on the site!

I, too, tried all the fixes...nothing worked.
Found another thread on this forum and looks like a lot of us are having same problem.
Next time it happens, go to SETTINGS/GENERAL/ABOUT and check to see it there is a "low memory" incident report.

Seems to be common....this could turn into a HUGH issue.

I am having this exact same issue, only on an ASP.NET page. I can print the report, but it does not display at all.

Why doesn't Safari Autofill work in iOS 5.0.1?

Safari Auto fill in iOS 5.0.1 on iPhone 4 does not function. I have tried all the settings suggestions, and no joy. This looks like a designed software failure. Any help or insight?

As far as I can tell certain settings must be in place for AutoFill to prompt you to save passwords.
The settings can be changed back to your preference after you saved your passwords.
To make AutoFill work use the following settings:
Go to: Settings > Safari
- turn off Private Browsing
- turn off Block Pop-ups
Go to: Settings > Safari > AutoFill
- turn on Name & Passwords
Launch Safari
- go to whatever websites you want to remember your Name & Passwords
- type in your Name & Passwords
- hit Go on the right side of the keyboard
- a pop-up will ask you if you want to save your password
- click Yes

Safari autofill

My Safari Autofill seems to have a mind of it's owm. Choosing to remember user names and passwords, or not, for no reason I can ascertain. Is there any way of fixing this without removing all of the user names & passwords I already have stored in there?

It seems apple, facebook, and google allow username password saved,
while hotmail (login.live.com) and most financial institutions don't allow it.
I'm not sure about yahoo, it seems something changed recently so it doesnt work with Safari, but still works with Firefox? Still investigating....
If you have saved username/password but Safari doesn't always autofill, and it isn't just yahoo, then that's a different problem above my level.

Safari Autofill Using Wrong Contact Card

Safari autofill is using my husbands contact card instead of my contact card. Looks like Contacts show him as the default. How do I change the default to use my contact card instead?

Safari , Autofill and Wells Fargo Online Banking

In earlier versions of Safari, I had to type my login/pass to login to Wells Fargo Online banking, autofill wouldn't put it in:

I figured there was some security issue and just dealt with it. Then in 2.x? it all of a sudden started to work! Now in 3.0.4 I have do it manually again. Can anyone else confirm and does anyone know the story behind this?

I had some issues with google at one stage and I think I deleted gmail from the autofill (under preferences) I can't work out how to add it back - safari is not remembering my username and password for gmail and it's not coming up with the box that asks - 'would I like safari to remember..'

Make sure *user names and passwords* is selected in Safari / Preferences - Autofill.
Now Quit Safari. (Command + Q)
Open Keychain Access (Applications/Utilities). Select Passwords on the left. Delete the Google keychain.
Relaunch Safari. Login to Google with your user name and password. Click Yes when prompted. That will create a new Google keychain for you so you won't have to type in the information the next time you login to the Google site.

IPHONE 4 AutoFill issue

Iphone 4 autofill does not work , to connect to my work WIFI I have to enter username/password everytime in safari .
If I enable auto fill and go to safari to enter username/password it does not work . If I disable autofill and enter user/password it works.

I've reported this issue to Apple. After a short investigation they replied me that this is a known issue. They gave me the main issue ID but since I'me not the owner of this ID I can't read the details. I hope that this will be corrected soon because it's a feature I really need to auto fill the username and password on wifi captive portals.

Safari Autofill repeats part of a previous search.

More often than not autofill works fine for me. However, roughly about one in ten or so searches will suddenly repeat a portion of the search phrase. For instance, searching for "14 Blades" suddenly becomes"14 Blades Blades". And once that happens to a particular search, I can't seem to correct it. I have gone into preferences -autofill- other forms and reset everything. However, that only works once. After resetting, my first search for "14 Blades" works fine. Subsequent searches will become "14 Blades Blades" again. I am using Mavericks OS 10.9.4. I don't believe I ever saw this before upgrading to Mavericks. I also tried resetting user name and passwords, just to see if it helped, but it did not. Does anyone have any ideas for me? Thanks!

It sounds like you are seeing some odd activity intermittently when doing searches in the URL bar. I would start by checking to see if any 3rd party plugins are causing issues with it, using this article:

Mid-2010 MacBook Pro Safari/Graphics issue??

Hi. Below I've posted a picture of what I've been experiencing on my mid-2010 MacBook Pro that is running Mac OS X Lion (10.7.1).
Usually, my screen stays like that for a few seconds, then those little things go away. However, when I took the screenshot, my screen stayed like that for about 20 minutes. I've had this issue in both Safari and Firefox. Even updating to 10.7.1, this still happens.
What could possibly be wrong? Is it a bug with Lion or is my graphics card at fault?

nope — one reason why the cost of Apple products in the US is low compared to prices in other countries is that the prices in other countries often include seller’s warranties which extend beyond the manufacturer’s warranty; that’s not the case in the US.
If you’re intent on purchasing no more Apple products because of how they’d handled the 15-inch Mid 2010 MacBook Pro defect, then I’d highly recommend writing a letter to Apple explaining exactly why you’ve made that decision.
