Safari AutoFills bookmarked websites...

I have unchecked all 3 autofill options on Safari 3.1 Windows and still every time I type in an web address, it autofills to my bookmarks. Does anyone have a solution for this. Thanks in advance.

I accidentally typed the wrong login number on a United website, and had checked "remember me on this computer". I've gone in to Safari preferences and unchecked everything, re-started the computer, and Safari still "corrects" my login on this website (ie, I type the correct number, and password, then Safari changes it to the incorrect number and tells me I've entered an incorrect account number and to try again!) Aaarrrgh! Can anyone tell me how to fix this? thanks,

  • Why is safari 7 deleting my bookmarked websites?

why is safari 7 deleting my bookmarked websites? I keep adding them in and they go to my favorites bar, but once the window closes, more often than not the bookmark is gone from the favorites bar.

Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    ~/Library/Safari/Bookmarks.plist
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
Services ▹ Show Info in Finder (or just Show Info)
from the contextual menu.* An Info dialog should open.
Does the dialog show "You can read and write" in the Sharing & Permissions section?
In the General section, is the box labeled Locked checked?
    What is the Modified date?
If you don't have read and write access to the item, change the settings as directed here. Note, however, that if one file has wrong access settings, most likely others do as well. If the item is locked, unlock it.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Open a TextEdit window and paste into it (command-V). Select the line you just pasted and continue as above.

  • Is there a way to change bookmarked website icons on iPad?

I want to know if I can change the look of the picture above the bookmarked website on Safari. Something other than the boring compass in a grey square would be nice! Thanks.

No. The "favicon" as it is called, is set by the Website owner. It sounds like those icons were somehow not downloaded though. You can possibly refresh them by clearing Safari cache on your iPad. Go to Settings > Safari > Clear Wesite Data. Visit the site again and it will maybe see the icons on the Bookmark page.

  • How do I open up bookmarked websites?

I just got a new 8GB 3rd generation iPod Touch and tried it out for the first time today. The music system is working OK, but when using Safari for some reason I can't connect with any of the bookmarked websites synced from my iMac. When I attempt to do so the little "progress" wheel spins endlessly with the website never opening up. I am connected to a LAN network from my apartment building location. This is a downer, because to surf the Net was one of the main reasons I bough† the Touch. Can anybody give me a clue as to how to resolve this issue?

You should find some clues in this Apple article: Unable to use Wi-Fi with iPhone or iPod touch because there's no Wi-Fi address listed for the device, http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1559

  • How do I remove my bookmarked websites that appeared on my daughter's iPod Touch.

My daughter got an iPod Touch today.  When starting it up, I entered my email and password.  Since we share music, I though this was the best idea.  However, when I opened up her safari, all of MY bookmarked websites were on her iTouch. I would rather that my bookmarked sites stay off of her iPod... and visa versa.  I tried resetting the iPod to original settings... but it never asked me to enter an email address/password or to create a new account.  I DO want to share the account with her so it is easiest to share the music... but how do I keep the websites off?

    Back from where?
    Where did it go?
It should all be on your computer and included in your regular backup copy of your computer.
    Sync it back.

  • I upgrades my iPAD  3 to iOS6 and now I can't open my Safari RSS bookmarks.  Any ideas to help?

I upgrades my iPAD  3 to iOS6 and now I can't open my Safari RSS bookmarks.  Any ideas to help?

I've installed 3 different RSS readers and none of them "grab" the default flag for RSS feeds.
I've also uninstalled the Podcasts.app, then re-installed a couple of the readers and Safari still has no idea what to do with them.
What's most annoying is that Safari declares it doesn't know what to do with a feed and offers to load the iTunes Store so I can pick an RSS Reader to install, and then the iTunes app declares it can't connect to the store (even when I'm already on the store or downloading an application at the time).
And yeah, I've tried the fixes for the cannot connect errors (Date/Time flip, reinstall bought app, setting DNS to Google even though it was already fine, and clearing Safari's cache just in case).
    This is absolutely pathetic.

  • " plug-in name does not support the highest level of security for Safari plug-ins" appear for some plugins in Safari Security "Manage Website Settings"?

    Hi,
Wondering why "<plug-in name> does not support the highest level of security for Safari plug-ins" appear for some plugins in Safari > Security > "Manage Website Settings"?
Have been trying to get to the root cause of the problem but did not find much on this. I am trying to figure out what can get the warning to go away completely than using the Allow/Always Allow options for the plug-in
    Thanks,
    Shyam

    Hi Linc,
Thank you for your response. Here is the screenshot of the warning that I am talking about.
    Here is what I do:
    1. Launch Safari and open its Preferences. I have Safari 7.1 installed on my machine.
    2. Click Security Tab and click Manage WebSite Settings
    3. A window opens showing me all the Plug-ins that I have (listed on the left hand side).
    4. One of them is the Adobe Reader plug-in. When I click Adobe Reader, the following details about the plug-in show up on the right
I was referring to the highlighted section that warns me about this plug-in not using the highest level of security for Safari Plug-ins.
Note: I do not see this for all my plug-ins (QuickTime, Adobe Flash Player don't give me this warning) which tells me that there is a way to make the warning go away.
    Thanks again,
    Shyam

  • The font in Safari's bookmarks bar and tabs bar has suddenly changed

The font in Safari's bookmarks bar and tabs bar has suddenly changed to a lighter font.  How do I change the font back?  I'm not speaking of the font size/type in the web browser in viewing web pages, but the font in the application itself has changed. It's rather annoying and would like to be able to change it back!  I'm running Safari v5.1.7

    OK, Margie, here's what to do . . .
    First Quit Safari.
Then Find your User's (Home) folder library.
It's hidden, but here's how you find the Home Library:
Click on the desktop to get the Finder menu.  Then go up to  "Go" in the menu bar, while holding down the option key.
You'll now see the User Library in the drop down list. Open it, then look for the Fonts folder.
Take the fonts folder to the desktop.
    Restart Safari.
    Any better?
(Warning:  This is only for the Users/Home > Library > Fonts folder.  Under no circumstances, should this be done with the SYSTEM > Library > Fonts folder.)

  • All of a sudden I cannot bookmark websites.

I am running Firefox 3.6.12, with add-ons of Firefox Sync, X-Marks and Speed Dial (among others but I have a feeling it has something to do with one of these). Computer is running Windows 7, 64. The last couple of days - mostly today - I have been unable to Bookmark a site that I'm on (unless it's a site that's a Speed Dial). The bookmark window will not open up... period. When I go to manage my bookmarks and try to add the bookmark that way, nothing happens. I'm also running AdBlock plus, which I plan to disable and see if that does anything. Any help would surely be appreciated - I need to be able to bookmark websites! Thanks.
*update: After I initially submitted this question, I found that if I double clicked on the star in the address bar, I could add bookmarks that way. This morning, after rebooting from the night, I could bookmark from the drop down bookmark menu, but it just doesn't look right. Anyhow, I'm also going to look into the link for the sql files (or whatever it is... have to recheck my post... lol). Thanks!

This can be a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

  • Every so often when using safari my bookmarks disappear and then later the list shows up again.  Does anyone know what causes this and how to fix it?

Every once in awhile while using safari my bookmarks list disappears.  Later it just shows up again.  Anyone know what causes this and how to fix it?

I have had exactly the same problem now with two mini iPads.  Everything was tried; 1) restarting; 2) restoring factory settings etc.  NONE worked.  Eventually Apple agreed to replace it.  I have had the replacement now for two to three months and exactly the same thing is happening again. So off to Apple tomorrow to get another replacement.
I am quite a heavy user of the iPad so wonder if this is something to do with the fault.
It is so frustrating as sometimes reset works, and then after 10/20/30/40 minutes (you pick) it goes unstable again.

  • Export Safari 1 Bookmarks to Safari 2

Running OS 10.3.9 on my PowerBook with Safari v1. Need Bookmarks on my new Mac Intel 10.4.4 running Safari v2. Don't want to just clobber the .plist files for Safari in case they are not compatible. Tried Safari Bookmark Exporter, doesn't have a Safari Export option.
How do you get Safari v1 bookmarks into Safari v2?

    Kenneth,
For reference, I have Safari 1.3.2 on my Panther iMac and Safari 2.0.3 on my Tiger iMac.
Just to support Miriam's suggestion without using the term "export"...
Find the Bookmarks.plist file in ~Library/Safari Folder of your PowerBook, make a copy of it and use the Safari>File>Import Bookmarks feature of your new machine.
    ;~)
