Safari bookmarks and iCloud

Hello!
I have 2 user accounts on my MacBook and 1 iCloud account set up.
Safari bookmarks sync well with my iPad through iCloud.
Safari bookmarks appear under both of the accounts on my MacBook, which I do not want. I want them to appear only under only one of my accounts on the MacBook.
How do I do this?
Thank you.

There's really nothing you can do now.  The big mistake was not defining a passcode for the device, hence the thief has access to all data.  he should not have access to icloud, since you changed the password for the icloud ID.
If you decide to define a new icloud account (a new ID, but keep the old ID for itunes store account, otherwise you lose your apps and music purchased using the old ID), be sure to first go into the current account and delete all data.

  • Saving MAC Safari bookmarks to iCloud

    Hi.
I already researched in the iCloud help in icloud.com and I believe you can store your Safari bookmarks on iCloud. But since I now have hundreds of bookmarks, this is critical to me. I'd just like to double check how the bookmarks are retrieved in case I loose my data or my MAC.
The Help item "Documents / Overview" says "iCloud also keeps your Safari bookmarks, Reading List, and iCloud Tabs list up to date on your iOS 6 devices and your Mac with OS X v10.8 or later."
Would you know how it works to retrieve the bookmarks if I loose my MAC data?
    1) I don't have iPhone, iPad or iPod. Will I have to buy another Apple device to retrieve the bookmarks or can I access them simply logging in to icloud.com with any computer in the world?
    2) In case I get a new MAC, the moment I log in with my Apple ID and open Safari it will automatically retrieve my bookmars, reading list...?
    regards

    Hi Antonio,
The bookmarks citation above references the automatic "push" of new bookmarks in Safari to all your devices. So, iCloud, in essence, keeps them all in sync. It does not provide a recoverable backup for them, however. Here the link to the iCloud support page which has all of the information about what iCloud will and won't do:

    Hope this clears it up!

  • How to transfer SMS and Call History from Iphone 5 to Iphone 6 plus? Only the contacts, calendar, safari bookmarks and notes have synced.

Hi! Please help. I have synced my IPhone 5 to Itunes. When I try to sync it to Iphone 6 plus, only the contacts, calendar, safari bookmarks and notes have synced to the latest date. The rest like SMS and Call History have only synced to June 2013.

I upgraded from an iPhone 4S to iPhone 6 Plus, I don't like to run iTunes, and iCloud backup is not so reliable, I think. Then I searched on the Internet, and some articles told me that I can directly transfer data from Phone to iPhone with some tools.
I doubt it first, then I gave a shot on one of them for the free trial. I follow the steps to transfer about 200 sms from my 4S to 6 Plus, and it works!
    Got this from here: http://www.cultofmac.com/296711/transfer-data-new-iphone-6-imazing/
    Hope this helps!

  • Safari bookmarks and syncing

Hi, I've just been through all my Safari bookmarks and had a massive clear out, then I synced my iPhone and all my bookmarks are back in Safari (how annoying)!! How do I prevent this from happening again now that I have to go through all my Safari bookmarks again?
    Cheers

Go to the Apple menu >> system preferences >> icloud.  Make sure you're logged in with the same apple ID as you are on the other two devices.  If you're already signed in, you can click on Account details to verify that.
Then, make sure you have safari checked off in the icloud preferences.  If you already do, uncheck them for a minute or so.  Then recheck them.
    See if that helps.

  • Safari Bookmarks on iCloud?

I remember when I could log-in at MobileMe from any computer and get to my Safari bookmarks, but now I can't with this new iCloud system. Am I doing something wrong or have Apple decided to pull this feature?
I thought that accessing bookmarks online was a brilliant idea and very convenient.
    Cheers

They aren't availble online, they only sync to your other devices via iCloud.

  • How to find my Safari bookmarks and passwords without opening safari?

    Hi!
I have a big big problem!
I had a system crash-thought I could recover via TimeMachine and oops there was an error and it turned out impossible. I had a clean install but my problem is that I really needed my old data- I can get it all from Time Machine as I can browse it just like as if I actually had the old system.
I copied the folder "default" from adium into the newly installed adium and there were all my contacts login details etc...
But I have no idea where to find my Safari bookmarks. I really need them. I also have trouble recalling some of my passwords which were remembered by Safari. Please tell me which files should I replace from the old system into the new system in order to retrieve my bookmarks. Thanks in advance for any help:)

    That doesn't help.
why? Have you tried it? what happens?
    Where should I look?
    I need those bookmarks...
Copy the directory /Users/username/Library/Safari from the old disk to the corresponding location on the new one. The file with bookmarks is bookmarks.html from that directory.
However, I think Safari passwords are stored in the keychain. That would be in the directory
    /Users/username/Library/Keychains

  • Sync Safari / Bookmarks and now there are gone!!  HELP!!vious settings?  Wh

i synced Safari / Bookmarks for the first time yesterday and now all my bookmark folders are gone.
Can I restore to the pre

    Hi S Crawford,
I'm afraid it's likely that they're gone for good. To double check, go to http://bookmarks.mac.com and login to see if your bookmarks have synched to there.
If they are present there, check your sync settings in the System Preferences -> .Mac area to see if you can synch them back to the computer.
If they're not present there then they're gone...
If you want to backup the bookmarks manually in future, copy this file to a safe location:
    Hard drive -> Users -> Your username -> Library -> Safari -> Bookmarks.plist

  • Deleted Safari Bookmarks and have no backup

I got a new phone and have been cleaning up my old phone and I deleted my bookmarks in safari.  However I did not shut off the wifi capabilities on my phone first.  The following day I open up my mac and go into safari to look at a few book marked items.  Much to my surprise my safari bookmarks on my Mac are now all gone.  All the questions and articles talk about Time Machine but unfortunately I do not have it set up.   Is there anything I can do to get those bookmarks back?

  • Lost Safari bookmarks and dock changed after shutting down

I shut down my computer at work while I was on vacation 2/5-14. When I turned it back on this morning, the dock was in a different place and was missing all the "keep in dock" icons I had added although the desktop clutter was still there.
When I went on Safari, the homepage was the default one and not the one I had selected. None of the bookmarks that I had been adding over 3 years was there either. No one used my computer and all I did was shut down on 2/2. The user is still highlighted as me. Can anyone shine a light on what happened and how to get my original settings back?
    Thank you!

    Hi and welcome.....
and all my applications were running so slow
Check the hard disk for free space. Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. Make sure you always have a minimum of 15% free disk space.
If there's enough free disk space, launch Disk Utility. It's in your Applications/Utilities folder. Select MacintoshHD in the Sidebar on the left then select the FirstAid tab.
Click: *Verify Disk* (not Verify Disk Permissions). If Disk Utility reports problems, follow the instructions at this link so you can repair the startup disk. You will need your install disc.

  • 10.5.2 problems: Safari bookmarks and keyboard illumination

I have 10.5.2 bugs to report that I haven’t seen reported elsewhere yet: On my Intel Macbook Pro, since installing the 10.5.2 and graphics update, the illuminated keyboard has been permanently on regardless of ambient light, unless I switch it totally off in my system prefs. More importantly than that though, Safari hangs unrecoverably if I try to view my bookmarks.

I have the same keyboard illumination issue as well after upgrading from 105.1 to 10.5.2. While te F8-F10 keys function correctly turning on/off/dimming the lights. If I'm in a well lit environment, the keyboard lights up. If I put my hands over the speakers (where the light sensor is) the keyboard illumination dims. Definitely seems like the setting is backwards.

Me again. I did discuss my problem with my son and let him read your reply. One thing he
reminded me of, was the fact this iMAC G 5 gets "hot" if a video is running. Grandson was
playing one on Fri from the internet called "StarFall". I did not notice the temp when I shut
down the computer, nor did I notice what was on the screen. This disaster with the bookmarks
could be a problem I created. Just a thought.
I purchased this G 5 in 05 and about a year later this computer started overheating. No one on
discussions could help. I wrote Apple in WA and believe it or not received a reply. I thought
we would get it repaired from what I was told. I carried it to an authorized Apple store and
it would never "act up" with them. It still over heats and I have to watch the temp and stop
working when it reaches 85 C or it will go so slow and eventuating stop. I just put up with it
    for now.
85 C is pretty hot, but shouldn't be enough to damage it, unless it's there consistently. And of course it should shut itself down when it gets too hot (I'm not sure just how hot that is, though). Do the fans run fast when it gets hot? They should be pretty loud at full speed.
What are you using to monitor the temps? You might want to look at the +Hardware Monitor+ app from: http://www.bresink.com/osx/HardwareMonitor.html
It keeps 7 days of history, of temps, fan speeds, etc., and has alarms you can set, too, among other things. It's not free, but at 7 euros, not real expensive, either.
If it shows, for example, the CPU temp rising but the CPU fan not speeding-up, that would be something you could show Apple so they could figure out exactly what's wrong.
I have a similar model, and have had some trouble with it (which Apple has fixed at no charge), but never an overheating problem like you seem to.
I assume you occasionally vacuum the vents under the screen?

  • TS4001 How can I share Safari bookmarks between two iCloud accounts using IOS 7 and Mavericks?

Before iOS 7 and Mavericks, we were able to share Safari bookmarks between all of our devices.  My wife had the primary iCloud account which was setup to share bookmarks, contacts, calendars and reminders.  A secondary iCloud account was setup on my phone for only my email.  Each phone had our private email accounts segregated and we shared all the bookmarks, contacts, calendars and reminders.  When I saved a bookmark on my phone, I could see it later on our iMac or iPad.  Now only my wife can sync bookmarks between her phone and the iMac or iPad.  This *****!!  This worked beautifully before we upgraded to the latest versions of OS & iOS.  Is there a work around or a new way to set things up?  I don't want to be stuck reading Safari on my phone when I have a 24" iMac sitting in the living room.  I don't want to see all of my wife's email on my phone either.  Do we need three iCloud accounts now?  One main for sharing and two separate accounts for only email?  Need help!  Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks.

    David,
Thanks for the reply.  That's how I set it up originally.  Although the new iOS 7 update lost some functionality.  I found the following on the TUAW website.  The Safari Bookmarks and Find My Phone options have been removed from the secondary iCloud accounts options.  This is the problem.  Everything worked great before we updated.  I guess "new way" consolidates the iCloud accounts better with Maverick?  Now I will have extra documents on my phone that I don't need.  We will both have to share the same iCloud storage and backup space too.  Have to try it out and see how it works. Thanks.

  • How can i sync mac bookmarks and iPhone iPad on safari

How do I sync my mac 10.7 safari bookmarks and ipad iphone safari bookmarks via iCloud?  possible or is this only through devices?

Disregard it seems like it's working now !

  • How do I delete my iCloud bookmarks and upload a new bookmark file

While managing my bookmarks, I deleted a bookmarks folder in my bookmarks bar. Just then the infamous beachball started and a dialog popped up saying my bookmarks were syncing with iCloud. Then Safari crashed. After opening it, all my bookmarks bar bookmarks were gone. Thankfully, I had a backup of the bookmarks, however, I don't want to merge with the bookmarks on iCloud, fearing they're screwed up. How do I delete or overwrite my iCloud bookmarks and upload my new corrected version?

Done that and still DOES NOT work for me! I wiped out my bookmarks in ALL my devices (iPhone 4, iPad 2, MBP, and iMac). Of course, I made backups of my bookmars prior of wiping it out and proceeded to wait 4 days to make sure iCloud had enough time to clear itself up alright. After seeing that I didn't get no more entries synched to any of my devices I proceeded to restore my bookmarks first to my iMac. Then I waited and yes, a few minutes later it synch correctly into my MBP however, when it came to my iOS devices it came over alright except it came over with dupplicates AGAIN!!!! So, at this point I just went and clean up all those entries from my iPhone and iPad. Luckily they stayed like that and no further dupplicates were created.
Now, because I don't feel iCloud is working correctly, at least for me, with my Safari Bookmarks and Notes, I have left those two apps untoched. But this week I added a new bookmark into a folder from my iPhone 4... well, guess what? The new bookmark after 3 days NEVER showed up in my other devices! Once again, I proceeded to remove that entry from my iPhone 4 and added it from my iPad 2... SAME results. Ok... the frustration continues... I removed the bookmark from my iPad and added it from my iMac and guess what happen next? The new bookmark showed up in my MBP!!!! It didn't show up in the same location as I placed it from my iMac. It showed up at the root top level of my bookmarks... so, a la Microsoft, I proceeded to move it to its appropriate folder as I have it in my iMac. So far, so good. Then I proceeded to check my iPad and iPhone and the new bookmark is NOWHERE to be found!!! Isn't this wonderful how iCloud works!??? I love the fact that it frustrates me and create unncessary work and waste of time and lack of efficiency and effectiveness!
Yesterday I added a new note from my iPhone and guess what happened... the new note never showed up in ANY of my other devices!!!! So, once again, I proceeded to remove that new note and add it from my iPad. A few minutes later... I had multiple duplicates of Notes in my iPad and the new note was nowhere to be found in any of my other devices inspite of the fact I have full iCloud features enabled! So, I then proceeded to clean up the extra duplicate entries from my iPad... and what happened next was just so kewl... ALL, I mean ALL my notes I had in my other devices were WIPED OUT!!!! But now things looks clean and tidy from my iPad!!! Go figure! I waited to see if they will sync to my other devices and NOTHING!
At this point I was so fuming you could fry an egg on my forehead of the frustration! So, I proceeded to wipe--out my notes from my iPad and waited to make sure no more duplcates were going to show-up. I then went to my iMac and from there launched TimeMachine and restore my notes and then created the new note and wala... now it shows OK in ALL my devices! So, the morale of the story for me is... don't enter Bookmarks from my iOS devices. Do it from my Mac machines... at least they'll be (after manually moving the entry from the other machine) in sync and do not add any new notes from any iOS device but to it from my iMac or MBP so that it syncs OK...
Isn't this a wonderful story of how great and amazing iCloud works? Wow... I'm even impress with myself... but I've been close in more than once occassion of using a baseball bat and my devices as a Piñata from the frustration
