Safari 3.0.4 on OS 10.5.1 not crashing but browser windows DISAPPEAR! Help!

I know there is a thread in the beta forum with a generic title "Safari acting strange" but I figured a more specific thread title might get more attention from those experiencing the same anomalies.
Here is my problem:
I'm using Safari 3.0.4 that came with the Leopard 10.5 disk I installed on my laptop. Safari was working fine for a good couple weeks and then suddenly it began acting strange indeed.
Now after an undetermined amount of time when I have a Safari browser window(s)/tab(s) open it will suddenly disappear off my screen without provocation (meaning I don't have to perform any action to do this. I can be sitting there not touching the laptop or typing anything; it will just disappear as if some unseen person with a remote control hits the Let's-mess-with-this-guy's-computer button). At first glance it seems that Safari has crashed.
However when I look to see what happened or perhaps relaunch I see that Safari is still up and running. The menu bars all work. It seems to be in perfect working order. Only problem is the browser windows have disappeared and nothing I do will bring them back. I can try to create new browser windows and Safar thinks it is creating them because I can check in Windows menu and see the fruits of my efforts stacking up more and more as I add new windows and tabs in an attempt to get the browser windows back. However where these windows live is a mystery to me. When I try to quit Safari I get an Alert message asking me if I really want to close the windows with the multiple tabs in them (further supporting the theory that Safari still thinks windows are open and seeable by me)
When I DO quit Safari and relaunch it, it remains in the same state. No browser window is seen yet looking in the Windows menu I can see that a new browser window is present. The only way to use my Safari again is to reboot my computer. Of course this fixes the problem for maybe 5 minutes until the browser windows disappear again. And that's when I switch to Firefox.
I've repaired permissions. I've checked for any Input Managers folder for culprits but seeing as this is a fairly new laptop and that I just did an Archive and Install of Leopard with a fresh Safari in toe I have not installed any 3rd party applications so no Input Managers folder exists anywhere on my laptop.
I have the standard Safari Plug-Ins that come with Quicktime.
I have Spaces turned off. I am not using dual monitors so the browser windows are not being shot off to a second screen somewhere.
I see nothing in the crashlog because I actually don't think Safari is treating this behavior as a crash. It's not quitting unexpectedly or anything.
So I am at a total loss. Any ideas?

I had this problem as well.
First: In Safari go into preferences and select the "security" tab. Uncheck "Enable Plug-ins"
This fixed a lot of bugs for me !
Second: If that worked than you just need to go to Hard Drive/Library/Internet Plug-Ins
There should be a folder there that is called "Disabled Plug-Ins" I just put all of the plug-ins in that folder, went back and rechecked " Enable Plug-Ins" in Safari preferences, and then one by one added plug-ins back out of the disabled folder while reloading a web page that caused problems before. After some trial & error I think I have a setup that works for now. Hope this helps!! Also as of now I have installed all software updates. My mac has been doing this for a while. Logging out & back in reset safari back to where it was useable.
I have not had problems with any other programs.

How to make Safari browser always open a new web page in a new Safari browser window which was clicked from a PDF document URL

I have a web application which would enable users to see a list of PDF document on the web page and when the user select the PDF document, it will be open by a adobe PDF view
Within the content of the PDF document, it will contact URL links to some other portal web pages which we would like these other web pages to be open in a new browser window, but our testing shows that the new web pages may not always open in a new browser window.
Could you help to advise how I can enforce that new web pages that are clicked from the PDF document can always be open in a new Safari browser window ?

Hello,
In order to change the default reader for PDF files (to not open PDF files with Firefox's internal PDF reader), follow these steps:
#Go to ''Tools'' > ''Options'' (or ''Firefox'' > ''Options'').
#In the Options window, select the ''Applications'' tab.
#In the ''Search'' field, type ''PDF''. You should find ''Portable Document Format (PDF)''.
#On the right handside you should find an ''Action'' column. Use that to select your favorite PDF reader. In order to view PDF files in Firefox, choose ''Preview in Firefox''.

In Safari go to View > Show Toolbar.
Go to View > Customize Toolbar and drag whatever elements you want (like the default set at the bottom) to your tool bar.

Browser windows disappear

Can anyone suggest why my web browser windows suddenly disappear and won't reappear? This seems to have begun after I installed Leopard a few weeks ago. Affects Safari, Firefox, Vienna. Thanks in advance for all suggestions.

Since updating to 10.5.2 the disappearing windows has occurred very infrequently, and recently, I haven’t had it happen at all. If you want to use Spaces, when windows disappear, use the Control-arrow key combination to switch to the next Space and then switch back. Your windows should reappear.

Adobe Reader in browser window disappearing-need help

I have created a word document (WD1) containing links to other word documents (WD2, WD3, etc). I then turned WD1 into a .pdf file. I then upload this .pdf file to a web page. I go to this webpage and click the link to open the WD1.pdf file. When I click the WD1.pdf link on the webpage, a new browser window opens with Adobe reader in it displaying WD1.pdf. so far so good. Now when I click on the links to WD2 or WD3, these links open in Word and the correct files display, but the browser window containing WD1.pdf file disappears (thats the best way to describe it) and the first webpage is still open.
What I am trying to achieve is to have the second browser window stay open so the trainees using this web page will be able to click on the other references on the .pdf to get to all of the links without having to re-open it each time.
I have Researched in help and web forums, the only reference I can find is to uncheck the box next to Open cross-documents in the same window in preferences in Adobe. Which I have done and restarted my computer. I also noticed a preference show each document in its own window which is checked.
Here is the other rub, I have a desktop computer (OS is XP) and a laptop (OS is vista). I have Adobe 8.1.2 installed on both. The laptop with vista works the way I would like. But the desktop computer with XP does not. I did have Adobe 7.0.9 on the desktop but when it did do what I wanted I upgraded to 8.1.2 and it still isnt working. The real problem is that most of the trainees will be using their work computers with XP. I dont know even know if there is any significance in this observation or not. But thought I would throw it out there.
Does anyone have any suggestions of things I could try or know of any solutions? Please help.

Can't open pdf files in Safari browser windows (bank website window) after I installed Adobe Reader 11update on my Mac last night

I previously had Adobe Reader 9, which worked perfectly.

Here's EXACTLY what happens: I am in a Safari browser website and try to open a pdf file (my bank statement). When I click on the link I get this message in a black window: "Adobe Reader. Before viewing a PDF file in this browser you must launch Adobe Reader and accept the End User License Agreement, then Quit and relaunch the browser." So I launch Adobe Reader but there is no End User License Agreement to accept. I have done this several times with no result. I am using a MacBook Air with OS 10.9.4 and Safari 7.0.5.

The first time I opened my Safari browser after installing Maverick, I clicked on the wrong thing & closed my browser window where you search & the web addresses show up & where you can refresh the page. Hi. You are correct, the built-in Apps can not be deleted. Check other screens, existing folders. Also check Settings - General - Restrictions.

Browser window disappeared

our downstairs Imac running Safari 4.1.1 suddenly this morning shows no browser window. Our homepage pops up, but with no window to type in web addresses. Where did it go, and how can I get it back.

try the View menu in Safari - choose 'Customize toolbar' then drag the missing item back.
there's also a show/hide toolbar command in that menu, with a keyboard shortcut.

Mail, Safari, iChat Windows Disappear

These three programs seem to disappear after 2 or 3 minutes of use and they will not reappear without a restart. Is anyone else having this problem? I have reinstalled and this does not seem to help.

So far so good with this answer Deschamps. I had discovered that if I would restart the dock this would also give me some reprieve. I had started spaces to give it a try, set up some apps, didn't really get the whole thing, then disabled it, leaving various apps in the setup. Strange thing is that some of the apps setup didn't seem to disappear, like iMovie and iPhoto for example. Well still running in Safari as I am typing this message. Thanks for now. With Safari 5.1, I have to re-login after I close the browser window

After I upgraded to Safari 5.1 from the previous version, I noticed some changes that I do not like. Whenever I close the Safari browser window and later open it up again, I have to re-login to all websites that require login (such as ebay, Facebook, my Yahoo). With the previous version of Safari, this only happened when I quit Safari and reopened the application afterwards. With the new version, I even have to set my default location on Google Maps every time after I close the browser window. With the previous Safari version, that didn't even happen after I quit out of it. Another thing I noticed is that the browsing history starts listing again after I close a window, even though Private Browsing remains checked.
Is there a setting I can change to avoid having to re-login every time I close a window ? Or is this a feature of Safari 5.1 that cannot be changed ?

If you have Private Browsing enabled, that's why you aren't staying logged into websites. Same with Google maps.
Private Browsing doesn't "remember" AutoFill information.
Click History in the menu bar then click: Clear History

Safari 6 browser window stuck on top

Just upgraded to Mountain Lion yesterday on my 2012 MBP Retina. The safari browser window seems to be stuck in front off all other windows. If I have mail open as well, I can click on mail on the dock which shows the mail top menu and the mail window on top, but if I try and click on the mail window it changes the active application to safari, bringing my safari windows forward. If I make Mail the active application and click on the mail window outside the bondries of the safari window I can keep mail as the active application and move the window around the screen, but the safari window still jumps to the front. Is this a bug or is there a setting I'm missing somewhere?

Problem opening Form based PDF via Safari browser with Adobe Reader 9.3 on MAC

Hi,
I'm mentioning below the problem that we are facing when we open a form based PDF created using a licensed version of Adobe Livecycle Designer ES (Version 8.2.1.4029.1.523496) on a MAC machine through a Safari Browser.
We tested this PDF form on a windows machine and the PDF opens in an IE browser via the latest Adobe reader 9.3 without any problem. I then received complaints by our clients that they were unable to open the same PDF on their Safari browser on a MAC machine, I tried to resolve the problem by downloading the latest version of Adobe Reader 9.3 for MAC but noticed that the Safari browser window would just keep refreshing the page without displaying the PDF at all. I then uninstalled the Adobe Reader 9.3 version and downloaded and installed an older version i.e., Abobe Reader 8.2 version for MAC and noticed that the PDF document successfully opened in the Safari browser. My question is why does a form based PDF work with an older version of Adobe Reader for MAC and not with the latest version? Our clients are not comfortable with the fact that we are refraining them from upgrading to the latest version of Adobe Reader for MAC and that they would have to downgrade their existing Adobe Reader 9.3 to a lower version Adobe Reader 8.2 in order for the PDF forms to work when it should be the other way around.
Is there any fix or a patch that is currently being worked on that would resolve this issue in the latest Adobe Reader for MAC? If yes then when would it be ready? This issue is quite critical for our business and would appreciate it if this would be looked into with high priority.

That suggestion makes sense and likely works, but only if the user is on a machine that will allow them to use Reader. I'm sending this out to a lot of teachers, who are using machines either at school, or are school-issued machines, and they don't have the admin privileges to install software-- even Reader.
so my problem is, if they are stuck on a machine without Reader, and without the possibility of having Reader... it's just not going to work because Preview can't handle these functions.
And, since that is not an acceptable answer with what I'm trying to do... I will find another way to create/submit forms. I think there are some online possibilities I will have to make work.
