Safari & C++ don't like iTunes U
Hey there,
while uploading files in iTunes U, Safari keeps crashing reporting a runtime error in the Visual C++ Runtime Library.
Switching to the newest Safari version didn't help, nor does using older installations. The browser will simply crash and shut down.
I have the following Visual C++ installations:

Instead of considering regressing, which is always difficult if not impossible in the Apple world, I suggest you tell us what feature(s) you don't like and we'll help you work around them with the current version.

I don't like itunes 10 and so I'm using itunes 9. However, now my phone can't connect to itunes because it says it requires itunes 10.5 or later. Is there a workaround for this?

I was wondering if anyone had a suggestion for another media player. I used Winamp for a long time on my PC, but I don't like iTunes because it copies all my music, makes a double of it in the iTunes library, renames everything... it just makes it a little hard because my music ends up taking twice as much space. I don't just want to put it into iTunes folder, I have my own music folder. Any suggestions??
Teacher 24_70 is correct - I keep music and spoken word files in several locations and iTunes keeps track of them fine. Stuff in the iTunes folder (as elsewhere)is organised as I wish and stays that way.
The exception is when I forget to name a recording when importing it; in that case it turns up in the iTunes folder as "unknown album" and I have to manually move it to it's proper location, but's that my problem. -
I really don't like iTunes 10 for these reasons
think that the new iTunes 10 is really a step backward for several reasons which are as follows.
(1) If you want to view as album list you have to set each play list individually.
(2) When viewed in album list the artwork is too small and cannot be made bigger.
(3) There is no longer any colour to iTunes which makes it look dated.
(4) When using the show album artwork button in the bottom right corner the artwork is too big and hides to much of the playlist.
(5) When using view as album list all of the columns that i'm used to disappear and if I want them back I have to set them for each individual playlist and having over 4000 of them this is impossible.
After all said and done this iTunes is terrible a real step backward for Apple and I hope that you put back the functions that were on the previous iTunes. Make it easy for us as some of us have a lot of music to keep catalogued.have never used applescript and to be honest don't know how to
It's part of the OS so it's just there to use and very simple.
In the case of the script above you copy it to the location it tells you to, run iTunes, select the playlists you want then run the script from the iTunes Script menu.
What are you trying to accomplish with a playlist for every album?
There's absolutely no need for a playlist for every album.
If you have more than ~20-30 playlists, you probably have too many.
If you are a DJ or have a specific need for more but 4000 playlists will simply bog down iTunes.
The playlist are part of the *iTunes library* file and *iTunes library.xml* file.
Anytime you do just about anything in iTunes, these files get rewritten. This includes playing, skipping or rating a song, editing any info, creating, deleting or updating a playlist, adding or deleting anything from the library, and oither actions.
These files get rewritten, not once per session, but _after every action_. -
Can i install amazon prime app if I don't have itunes on my apple ipad mini
trying to install amazon prime app on my tablet but it keeps asking me for an itune account/password I don't have itunes is there any way to get past this so i can watch prime movies on my tablet with out itunes I really don't like itunes it is had to controll it trys to take over everything so I really don't want to install it unless I have too, thanks any help appericated, joy316
All iPads have the iTunes app permanently installed. Users cannot remove it. They can set up Restrictions in the Settings app and hide it, but it cannot be removed.
An iPad is a closed ecosystem. You cannot install anything on it without using the apps connected to an iTunes account; iTunes, App Store, iBooks, Podcasts and Newsstand.
I have no idea what you mean that iTunes takes over everything. -
The new Podcast storefront in iTunes... i don't like it
I don't know if you guys have noticed, but the podcasts storefront for iTunes have change. There is no more animation section, there is no more staff pick or newest section. There are only highlights and featured podcast.
I'm pretty deceived by this. This will kill the smaller podcasts. Right now, almost 75% of the featured stuff out there comes from the big networks and corporates.

I am unable to buy on itunes as I live in France but use an English credit card which is registered to my French address. itunes UK don't like the French address, itunes France don't like the English credit card. Any ideas on how to buy? (Without having to pay for a French credit card)
Go to a place in France and purchase an iTunes gift card. You should be able to use that in the French iTunes store if you have a French address associated with your iTunes account.

The installer is crazy . It keeps thinking that iTunes is running even though we dumped everything we could find ( preferences , application , libraries ) . Did I miss something ? Is there an uninstaller? I need an earlier than 10.5 version . I don't like the side swipe ( it feels unbalanced ) effect and my favorite visualizer doesn't work right with it . Thanks!

Update: my PC USB hub was connected to a USB 3 port, I connected the 30 pin cable directly to my PC, And the restore worked just fine. Restored phone from iCloud backup and seems to be working fine. -
My macbook pro (2010 13inch) is really laggy when I'm using apps like iTunes and safari. the arrow on the screen seems to not respond and is laggy and when viewing videos it can be really laggy. I just want to know if it was a problem i could fix, thanks.
You might start with:
Open Activity Monitor in the Utilities folder. Select All Processes from the Processes dropdown menu. Click twice on the CPU% column header to display in descending order. If you find a process using a large amount of CPU time, then select the process and click on the Quit icon in the toolbar. Click on the Force Quit button to kill the process. See if that helps. Be sure to note the name of the runaway process so you can track down the cause of the problem.
If the above reveals nothing helpful, then create a new user account. Log out of your account and log into the new account. Do the problems cease? -

ITunes radio playing an alternate version (that I don't like) ...
Hi,
iTunes radio is playing an alternate version (that I don't like) of a song I do like and want to play on my station, should I press "never play this again" ??? I don't want to permantly exclude the original song, only this weird cover version that iTunes radio is offering. Anyone run into this?I wanted to hear "I Can Be Your Friend" by VeggieTales (call me silly, I like happy songs like that. ) and iTunes Radio gave me a ska version. I actually liked it, but I did notice a difference....

If you know the artist of this other version, then add the artist to the "never play" list. Though there can be some situation where covers will use an artist's name (example Edison Lighthouse's "Love Grows" has covers/alternatives but using the artist name of the original).
If the artist is different, add them to "never play" and see if that works, you can always undo it by clicking on the X next to the artist on the "never play" list.
Edit: I didn't even realize this is a "Mac iTunes" forum, I just saw this on the side. I'm a Windows user, but I'm guessing this will work on iTunes for Mac too. -

i don't like when my Tv Show SEASONS/EPISODES are in ONE ALBUM,
i only like when the Tv Show Seasons are in there own Album. with there own Season art cover
That's the ONLY reason i don't like Version 11
so can you please tell them to make a New Update for the Tv Shows section?
its more better when they are in the Own Album using there Season Cover ArtChange the Show name to something different for each season, e.g. <Show>, Season <X>. Probably best to make the Album name match the show as well.

You can change your home page so that it points to what you had before, which It would be something like:

My husband and I share the same Apple ID number because we both need access to an app that has a subscription and would be expensive for us to do separately. We don't like that this shared ID number means we also share our calendar, note pages, email, etc....Is there a way to separate the things we don't want to share?
That would be my suggestion. Just keep using the common one for purchases in the stores. Then each get another AppleID using a free gmail, AOL, hotmail, MS Live or whatever email account.
Delete your current iCloud account and login with the new AppleID, and logout of Messaging and then backin with the new AppleID. Now you have a shared iTunes/App store account, but completely separate, independent iCloud and iMessage accounts.

Go to iTunes and erase all the songs you don't want from your library or check the "Manually manage music and videos" box, erase all the songs from your iPod and only put the songs you want or check the "Sync only checked songs" box and check every single song in your library (Crtl+Click on a check box (if on PC)) and uncheck the ones you don't want.
